Sorry again for the late post work has gotten difficult and need me to pull a few extra shifts Now let's get this story started with Chapter 6.
Chapter 6
Through the Ice Type
A Spot In The Woods
It was early in the morning and the gang was still asleep, with Rayla tossing and turning in pain from the armband on her left hand. While they were sleeping Corvus and Staraptor sneaked towards the gang. But on the way Corvus stepped on a twig, making a cracking sound. That sound woke the restless Rayla. Rayla then got up and left the group. As she got up, she woke up, Gligar. Gligar then saw Rayla leave, wondering what's up, she went after Rayla.
Meanwhile Rayla was moving through the shadows of the woods looking for anything strange. While she looked around she found the twig that Corvus broke. She then heard rustling from the bushes behind her. Rayla then jumped back, and pulled out her weapons. Then a little dear came out of the bushes. This made Rayla relax, and put her weapon away. "Gligar." Gligar said as she landed next to Rayla. "It's okay Gligar this dear just startly me." Rayla said to Gligar as she walked to the dear.
"You scared me, you wee cutie." Rayla said to the dear as she kneeled down to the dear, and raised her left hand. The dear then looked at Rayla's hand, before licking it. "Thanks, little one. But my hand's got a problem you can't lick away." Rayla said to the dear. The daer then stopped licking and looked up, with its ears up. The dear then ran away.
"What's the matter?" Rayla asked the dear. "Gligar!" Gligar yelled at Rayla. Rayla then turned around to see a net coming start at them. Then Corvus jumped down and Staraptor flew down, right in front of Rayla and Gligar, with a hock and chain in Corvus hands. "Never trapped an elf before, or whatever the pink scorpion is. Easier than I thought." Corvus said as he started to swing his hook.
Gligar then used Metal claw and cut both her and Rayla out of the net, and dodged Corvus hook. Corvus then pulled back his hook and gave Rayla a cocky smile. Rayla then pulled out her daggers and charged at Corvus, with Gligar following her lead with Metal Claw.
Back at Camp Ezran started to wake up. As he yawned, he noticed Rayla and Gligar missing. "Callum, Drake I think we're alone." Ezran said as he gave Callum and Drake a push. "Aw what is it Ezran?" Drake asked Ezran as he woke up. "Finally… Oh, I've been waiting for this moment." Callum said in his dream, as he pulled a loaf of bread closer to him. "I hope you didn't wake me to see this?" Drake asked Ezran.
"Callum?" Ezran said, shaking Callum a little bit more. "Mm. Your Breath still smells like peanut butter." Callum said in his dream. "Here let me do it." Drake said to Ezran. "Callum wake up." Drake said as he shook Callum up and down. "What… What?" Callum said as he woke up. "Wake up! Rayla, Kali, and Gligar are missing." Ezran said to Callum.
Callum then got up. "Oh, no, did they take it?" Callum said as he looked around. "The egg's still right here." Ezran said to Callum, showing Callum the egg. "And Kali is still here." Drake said to Ezran and Callum. "Then where is she?" Ezran asked Drake. Drake said nothing and pointed to the right. The two boys then turned to see Kali laying on top of Allen, and Formatis on the tree root above them. "It looks like Kali fell out of the tree and landed on Allen. And it looks like neither of them mind." Drake said as the boys noticed the smile on Allen and Kali's faces.
"So while Rayla is gone and Kali asleep there is something I need to talk to the two about." Callum said to Ezran and Drake. "Which is?" Drake asked Callum. "You two know, that still doesn't mean we can trust them." Callum said to Drake and Ezran. "But I like Rayla, Callum." Ezran said to Callum. "And I think Allen likes Kali." Drake said to Callum.
"Hey, I like them too. But the thing is, she's-" Callum said but was interrupted by Drake giving him a chop to the head. "You're still believing those stories about elves from your aunt." Drake said to Callum. "Yeah who cares if they're elves. It seems maybe everything we've heard about elves is wrong." Ezran said to Callum. "No. I was gonna say, the thing is… I think they're not telling us everything. I can feel it." Callum said to Ezran and Drake.
Back with Rayla was blocking Corvus hook attacks, with her daggers. While Gligar was using Metal Claw and clashing with Staraptor, whose wings look like they were made out of steel. During the battle Rayla and Gligar forced Corvus and Strapator back. Then the two of them notice that the tree where the rest of the gang was sleeping was right behind Corvus and Staraptor. The two of them looked at each other before they took off in the opponent direction of the tree.
They tried to use the tree to give them advantage over Corvus and Staraptor. But Corvus used his hook to get him into the tree and easily got close to Rayla and Gligar, with Startaptor flying right behind Corvus. Realising that the high ground didn't work Rayla and Gligar started to move away from the gang. But before they got too far away Corvus used his hook and wrapped it around Rayla's left leg. This made Rayla lose her footing and fell out of the tree, but the hook kept her from falling.
Gligar was about to use Metal Claw, but was stopped when Staraptor came at her at high speed and slammed Gligar into one of the branches of the tree. Corvus then jumped down a branch and raised Rayla to meet him at eye level. "Give me the boys peacefully, and we'll let you and your partner go! Release your prisoners." Corvus said t Rayla. "They're not prisoners. They choose to travel with me." Rayla said to Corvus surprising him and Staraptor.
"What? Why would they trust you?" Corvus asked Rayla, as Rayla unhooked herself, with Corvus and Staraptor watching her, as she landed on another branch. Gligar took this chance to break free, soon her tail became covered in purple toxic liquid, she then whipped the back of Staraptor. This made Staraptor cry in pain and let Gligar go. Gligar then glided to Rayla as Staraptor started to regain his fouce, with a purple line under his eyes.
"Because we're in this together! They're my friends now." Rayla said to Corvus as Gligar landed next to her. Corvus then threw his hook again, and Rayla used her daggers to send it back to Corvus. "Friends? You killed their father! And force Allen and Drake to be your servants." Corvus said to Rayla. "I didn't kill anyone." Rayla said to Corvus. "Your leader did. What's the difference?" Corvus said to Rayla, before throwing his hook again. But this time he amined for the branch Rayla, and Gligar was standing on, and breaking it.
Rayla and Gligar then went straight down. Gligar then quickly wrapped her tail around Rayla's waist, and clamped her claws into Rayla's hons. Then the wind from the fall caught on Gligar's wings. This made Rayla slow down enough for her to grab the side of another tree branch. But the pain in her left hand made her lose her grip on the branch and drop her dagger. Gilgar then left go of one of Rayla's horn and slammed it into the branch, and help pull Rayla up, with Rayla trying to pull herself up as well.
But they stopped when Corvus showed up and stepped on the dagger Rayla that Rayla still had, with Staraptor landing next to him. "Wait. They don't know, do they?" Corvus asked Rayla. Rayla didn't respond, she just did a twist on the tree branch and kicked Corvus and Staraptor away. This made them crash into another branch, and then fell onto another branch. It was at this moment Rayla and Gligar fled. But they soon found themselves on a tree over a cliff.
They then heard Corvus swinging his hook. "When they find out, they'll hate you." Corvus said to Rayla. "Shut up!" Rayla said to Corvus. Corvus then threw his weapons at Rayla. Rayla then bodged Corvus hook, and wrapped her dagger around the chain. Corvus though he had her, but then Rayla wrapped her left arm around the chain as well. Which surprised Corvus. Then Rayla jumped off the tree, pulling Corvus with her. Gligar then went after Rayla, with Staraptor following her.
Both Rayla and Corvus hit branches and the ground hard, while Gligar dodge a few branches at the last second, making Staraptor hit the branches. This combined with the poison from Gligar, made Staraptor crash into the ground. Staraptor and Corvus then started to roll down the hill, while Rayla turned her dagger into it's hook form and pierced it into the ground, stopping her. "Gligar?" Gligar said as she landed next to Rayla with a worried tune in her voice. "I'm fine Gligar." Rayla said to Gligar as she removed the chain that was still on her arm.
Meanwhile at the bottom of the ditch, Corvus and Staraptor pulled themselves off the ground. "Savor your victory, elf. Next time you won't be so lucky." Corvus yelled at Rayal. "Says the guy in the ditch!" Rayla said to Corvus, before she left Corvus, and went to get her dagger.
Back with the gang, Ezran, Drake, Callum, and the Pokemn, were waiting for Rayla and Gligar to come back, while Kali was giving Allen some "good morning" punches. "So, did you know you were kind of sleep-talking before? What were you dreaming about?" Ezran asked Callum. "Uh. I don't remember. Why? I didn't like say anyone's name out loud, did I?" Callum asked Ezran and Drake. Drake didn't say anything, but he gave Callum a look, knowing exactly what Callum was dreaming about.
"No, but you said something about peanut butter-" Ezran said to Callum, but was interrupted by Callum. "Sandwiches. Yep, I remember now. I was having a dream about sandwiches." Callum said to Ezran. "You seemed weirdly excited about sandwiches." Ezran said to Callum. "You know what? In a few years when you're older, buddy… We'll sit down and have a heart-to-heart talk about sandwiches." Callum said to Ezran. "Why don't you let me give Ezran that "sandwiches" talk. After all you're almost as bad with "sandwiches" as Allen is." Drake said to Callum, as he pointed to Allen, who was still getting punished by Kali.
Then Rayla and Gligar came running to the gang. "Go, go, go! We've gotta move. Kali stop flirting with Allen. We got to go." Rayla said as she ran past the gang. "What's going on? Where were you and Gligar?" Callum asked Rayla. "And I am not flirting with Allen." Kali said to Rayla, as she got up. "We should eat something first. Look how grumpy Bait is right now." Ezran said to Rayla. "Ezran he alway looks like that." Drake said to Ezran.
"Ugh. There's no time! We have to get moving now." Rayla said to everyone. "What's got you in such a hurry?" Allen asked Rayla, as he got up. As he did he notice Rayla's left hand turning purple. "Yeah Rayla, why? You have to at least explain-" Callum asked Rayla, but was interrupted by Rayla. "I don't have to explain anything to you. Let's go!" Rayla said to Callum, as she grabbed Callum's bag, and tossed it to Callum. "Fine, fine." Callum as everyone grabbed their stuff and started to move. But they forgot the loaves of bread they had.
The Castle In Katolis
Meanwhile back at the castle Soren was doing his morning workout while heading to meet Viren, who was on top of one of the walls of the castle. "I love having meetings up here. I get a nice leg workout going up all those stairs." Soren said to Viren. "We have important things to discuss. Try and focus." Viren said to Soren. "No problem. You have my undivided attention." Soren said before he started to perform some stretches.
"This evening, you and your sister depart on a mission." Viren said to Soren. "Searching for the princes and the twins. Oh, yeah that's the good kind of burn." Soren said to Viren as he bent down touching his toes with his hand. "The outcome of your mission is critical to the future of our kingdom." Viren said to Soren. "We got this. We'll find them." Soren said to Viren. "I'm sure you will. But there's a bit of nuance to this situation." Viren said to Soren.
"No idea what nucane is." Soren said to Viren. "Listen closely. You are to return with the terrible news that the princes have perished at the hands of Allen and Drake." Viren said to Soren. "Wait. Excuse me? I think my head was upside down and it got sort of mixed up. Can you say that again?" Soren asked Viren. "You are to return with the terrible news that both princes have died at the hands of Allen and Drake."
Mountains In Katolis
Back with the gang, they were walking through a mountain path, when they made it to a fork in the road. "Wait. This path is too easy." Rayla said to everyone, stopping everyone. "No, it's not. It's exactly the right amount of easy." Callum said to Rayla. "No. It's well-worn, it's flat, it's soft. Sooner or later, we're going to run into somebody." Rayla said to everyone as she stood on the right path. "We need to go up that way. Tougher terrain is safer for us. The tougher, the better." Rayla said to everyone as she stood on the left path, and pointed to the mountain it led to.
"Well, that sounds terrible." Callum said to Rayla. "Exactly." Rayla said to Callum. "Rayla. I'm confident you, me, Drake, and the Pokemon could handle travel though that mountain. But Callum, Ezran, and maybe Kali are city kids. I don't think they're used to that kind of terrain." Allen said to Rayla. "What dose "city kid" mean?" Kali asked Allen. "It means a person that lived in a town or city for most of their lives, rarely having the deal with harsh terrain." Drake said to Kali. "And this is already tough enough. Do you have any idea how heavy this egg is?" Ezran asked Rayla.
"Uh, no, I don't. Because you won't trust me to carry it." Rayla said to Ezran. "Well, should we trust you? Have you told us the truth about everything?" Callum said to Rayla. "Fine, keep carrying the extremely heavy egg. But quit crying about it. We're going this way." Rayla said to everyone. "Maybe we should all calm down a little dit." Drake said to everyone.
"Rayla, we have to get to the Dragon Queen as soon as possible, and taking this path will only waste time." Kali said to Rayla. "We're going this way, and that's final." Rayla said as she started to walk up the left path. "What's her problem?" Allen asked Kali, as everyone, but him and Kali started to move up the left path. "No idea?" Kali said to Allen, before she went up the left path.
When they were a few steps away from him, Allen pulled out the armband that fell off Rayla. "Could it be that someone is following us. And what's the deal with his armband? Why is it turning Rayla's hand purple" Allen said to himself, as he looked at the armband. "Allen, come on!" Drake yelled to Allen. "Coming." Allen said as he put the armband away and went after the others.
The Castle In Katolis
Back at the castle Soren was confused by his fathers words. "So, hold up. If we return with the news that the princes have died… At the hands of Allen and Drake… won't mean we failed, and Allen and Drake become our enemies?" Soren asked Viren. "The coming war will determine the fate of humanity. History has come to a crucial tipping point." Viren said to Soren.
"So you're saying things could go either way?" Soren asked Viren. "Precisely." Viren said to Soren. "Like a see-saw." Soren said to Viren, making Viren look at Soren with a disappointed and annoyed look. "Yes. History is like… a see-saw." Viren said to Soren. "If we are strong enough to make the right decisions, humans may finally return to Xadia, and take back the great magical lands that are rightfully our. But if we are led by a child king, and he is advised by people who share the mindset of the Great Dragons…" Viren said to Soren, as he looked out over the land.
"He'll make bad choices?" Soren asked Viren. "He will make weak choices! After all it's Allen and Drake that makes us share our land and work with the Pokemon, instead of us dominating them, and using them for our goals. So what will happen if they advise the king? History will tip the wrong way… and the forces of Xaidia will crush not only Katolis, but all the five kingdoms!" Viren said to Soren.
"Okay. So I'm supposed to come back with the news that they're dead, and that it was because of Allen and Drake. What I don't understand is… what am I supposed to do if we find them alive?" Soren asked Viren. "Oh… You'll know the right thing to do." Viren said to Soren. "The right thing. I… I don't know if I can do that." Soren said to Viren. "Out there, in the wild, accidents happen every day. Deadly accidents." Viren said to Soren.
"But what about Allen and Drake? They wouldn't try and protect and save the princes?" Soren asked Viren. "My son. This won't be easy, but you are strong. And if Allen and Drake get in the way, kill them, I know you can kill them. Now, tell no one. Not even Claudia. You must carry this weight alone." Viren said to Soren, before he started to leave. "It will be a burden for me to take the throne. And someday that throne will belong to you." Viren said to Soren, as he looked at Soren, for a second, before leaving Soren.
Mountains In Katolis
Back in the mountains everyone has been walking for a few hours. "All right let's stop and eat. I'm starving." Rayla said to everyone, as took a set. That's when Callum realized he forgot the bread. "Uh… oh, no. I don't have the food." Callum said to everyone. "What? You had one job: carry your stale human food. How could you leave it?" Rayla asked Callum. "You rushed us! You were yelling at us, and I just.. You made me leave it!" Callum said to Rayla.
"Oh. that's right. Because I remember yelling three things… "Hurry, hurry". "Let's go, go, go". And, "be sure to abandon all the supplies you need to survive"." Rayla said to Callum. "You know that she's kind of right. After all you just had to pull out the bread to make a point to Ezran." Drake said to Callum. "You're not helping." Callum said to Drake.
"What are we going to do? We're out of food!" Ezran asked everyone. "Well, I suppose I'd be willing to share my moonberry juice with you." Rayla said to Ezran. "What about the food Drake got from Abigail?" Callum asked everyone. "We already ate it all." Drake said to Callum. "What's wrong with my moonberry juice. It's packed with super nutrients, and I still have plenty-." Rayla said as she pulled out her veil of moonberry, only to notice it was empty.
"Still had plenty." Rayla said with an angry voice. "Someone drank it all! Who went through my stuff?" Rayla asked everyone. "I didn't touch your things!" Callum said to Rayla. "Don't Look at me!" Ezran said to Rayla. "I didn't do it." Drake said to Rayla. "Me neither." Allen said to Rayla. "I don't even like moonberry juice." Kali said to Rayla. "Well, I didn't drink it. If none of you sneak it, then who? Maybe one of the Pokemon?" Rayla asked everyone. "Or he did it." Allen said to Rayla, and he pointed to Bait, who had hiccups now and was glowing red where he was yellow, and light blue where he was teal.
"Wait. Did that little frog monster-." Rayla said to everyone, but was interrupted by Bait's hiccuping. "Bait wouldn't do that! You have no reason to think-." Ezran said to Rayla, but was interrupted by Bait's hiccuping. "Don't accuse him!" Ezran said to Rayla and Allen. "Look at how he's glowing!" Rayla said to Ezran.
"Well, bait glows different ways depending on how he's feeling? Like, he has one color if he's lonely. Or he glows another way if he's hungry. Or angry. Or hangry!" Ezran said to Rayla. "That's when you're so hungry that you're angry…" Callum said to Rayla, making her scoff. "I know what "hangry" means. So what does that color mean?" Rayla asked Ezran. "Yeah, but I haven't seen that color before. So what does this mean Ezran?" Drake asked Ezran. "Hmm. Actually, I've never seen him glow that way before too. Kind of a reddish, purplish… berry color." Ezran said to Drake and Rayla, before Bait burped.
"Yeah, he did it." Ezran said to everyone. "Knew it." Allen said, making Rayla sigh with an angry tune in her voice, and walking away from the group. "I guess our lunch break is over." Drake said to everyone, as they gathered their stuff. "I think she's hangry." Callum said to everyone. "I'm habsolutely hurious!" Rayla said to everyone, as she turned to everyone. Rayla then turned away from the group, and started to walk. Everyone just surged their shoulders and followed Rayla.
The Castle In Katolis
Back at the castle Claudia removed the cloth that was covering the mirror that Viren had in his study. Claudia then picked out a small tail and placed it in a bowl, then sprinkled some powder over it, making it slizzed a little bit. Claudia then moved to the mirror. "Speak you true nature to me." Claudia said before chanting a Dark Magic spell, with her eyes turning purple.
But nothing happened. "Nothing? You are a stubborn magic mirror." Claudia said to the mirror with pitch black eyes. "You think I haven't tried that?" Viren said as he entered the room. "I've cast eight different reveal spells. They all failed." Viren said to Claudia, as he walked to her, and Claudia's eyes turned back to normal.
"At the end, I see nothing but my own frustrated face staring back at me." Viren said to Claudia, as they looked at their reflections. "Well, maybe it's just a mirror." Claudia said to Viren, making him sigh. "Of all the treasures, artifacts and relics in the lair of the Dragon King and Queen… They kept this close to where they slept." Viren said to Claudia, as he placed a hand on the mirror. "It must be important." Viren said to Claudia.
"Then we'll figure it out. Whatever it takes." Claudia said to Viren, as she gave him a wink. "Hear that, mirror? I'm putting you on notice." Claudia said to the mirror, as she gester a "watching you" look at the mirror. "Kind of weird how the mirror did it right back at me. Like it was putting me on notice." Claudia said to Viren, as she looked at her reflection. Viren then covered the mirror, while Claudia put down the bowl she had.
"We have something important to discuss. Your mission." Viren said to Claudia. "To rescue the princes." Claudia asked Viren. "Yes, but you will have a secret mission that is far more important. Claudia, you must recover that dragon egg." Viren said to Claudia. "They have it with them, so shouldn't be a problem. But Allen and Drake might be a problem." Claudia said to Viren.
"You just have to convince them that it's safer for the egg to be in our hands," Viren said to Claudia. "But what if I can't?" Claudia asked Viren. "Then for the good of humanity, kill them. I know it'll be hard, but it's what's best for humanity." Viren said to Claudia. "Okay, princes, egg… I've got room for a third mission if you need anything else while we're out." Claudia said to Viren.
"The egg cannot fall into the wrong hands, and Allen and Drake will make sure that it does. It is too powerful, too dangerous. Whatever happens, wherever accidents or tragedies may occur… Above all else, you must return with that egg! Even if it means Allen and Drake have to die to do it!" Viren said to Claudia. "I understand." Claudia said to Viren. "Good." Viren said to Claudia.
"One question. Let's say we're attacked by giant bumble-sorps, or a swarm of Beedrill, and they're all buzzing like…" Claudia asked Viren, before making a buzzing sound. "And failing their scrops at us like…" Claudia asked Viren, before stabbing the air with her hands. "And I'm forced to choose between saving the egg and saving Soren. What should I do?" Claudia asked Viren.
Viren said nothing. "Dad, it's a joke. Relax, I'm kidding. Everything will be fine." Claudia said to Viren, laughing a little bit, before she started to leave the study. "The egg." Viren said to Claudia, making her stop. Claudia then turned her head to Viren. "If you have to choose, choose the egg." Viren said to Claudia. Claudia then left the room, with a sad look on her face.
Mountains In Katolis
On the mountain the gang was chugging through some snow that was a few feet thick, while Pokemon was on their partners back, with Rockruff on Allen's shoulder, and Bait on Drake's head. The reason the two were on them and not Ezran was to lighten his load. After all, he was still carrying the egg. "Rayla, can you slow down? It's getting a little tricky." Ezran said to Rayla, as he started to slip. But before he fell into the snow, Callum and Drake caught him.
"We should slow down a little, the terrain is getting slippery." Drake said to everyone, as he and Callum helped Ezran regain his footing. But Rayla just kept moving. "Rayla! Come on! You're the one who made us take this crazy route, at least let us keep up with you." Callum said to Rayla. "Maybe we should take a break." Kali said to Rayla, as everyone but Rayla stopped with, Gligar still on her back.
"Agree. I just need to put this down a second and catch my breath." Ezran said as he took a set and removed his backpack. "There is a solution, you know." Rayla said as she stood on a league above the gang, with Gligar still holding on Rayla's back. "You can just let me carry the egg." Rayla said to the gang. "Or you can slow down." Allen said to Rayla, as he and Callum, with the Pokemon on them, got onto the league Rayla was on.
"You realize that I could just take it, right? I could just take it from you any time I wanted." Rayla said to Callum. "Yeah, that's god, Rayla. Way to increase trust." Callum said to Rayla. "But I don't. That's the point." Rayla said to Callum. "Oh, well, congratulations! You haven't threatened us and forced us to give you the egg? You deserve a medal." Callum said to Rayla, as they started to lock horns.
"Okay enough, this place is not for you two to lock horns." Allen said to Rayla and Callum, as he got in between them, and pushed them back. "What did you say about my horns?" Rayla said to Allen. "It's a figure of speech back home. It means arguing." Allen said to Rayla. "We're not arguing. I'm just telling how much of a hero Rayla is." Callum said to Allen.
Then Ezran, Drake, Kali and the Pokemon, heard a small cracking sound and noticed the snow above them cracking. "I could take it!" Rayla said to Callum, as a piece of snow landed on Allen's head. Allen then looked up and noticed the snow. Soon a panic look appeared on his face. "I could return it with Kali, to Xadia…" Rayla said to Callum, but was interrupted when Allen rapped his arms around Callum's and Rayla's heads making them quiet, making them look at Allen, while making some muffle noises
"Guys, you need to keep it down." Ezran said to Callum and Rayla, as the rest of the gang grabbed their stuff and moved to Callum, Rayla, and Allen, with their Pokemon and Bait on them. "Callum you have to calm down. If we all want peace to win, then you and Ezran have to return the egg, and only Kali and Rayla know the way to the Dragon Queen. And Rayla, I don't know what's your problem today, but you need to get over it. Your part of this team, meaning we work together and listen to each other. Now Allen let them go and you to be quiet." Drake said to Callum, Rayla, and Allen with a quiet voice.
"Drake's right. You guys need to stop fighting. Look!" Ezran said to Rayla and Callum with a quiet voice, as he pointed up, and as Allen let Rayla and Callum go. Then everyone noticed the ice behind them cracking. "Your fighting is cracking the ice. If we're not careful, we could start an avalanche. Got it?" Ezran asked everyone. "Uh-huh." Callum said to Ezran, as a panic look appeared on his face. "Not a peep." Rayla said to Ezran, as a panic look appeared on her face.
Then the ice stopped cracking. "Good. it stopped cracking." Ezran said to everyone with a quiet voice. "Now let's get out of here before it breaks." Drake said to everyone with a quiet voice. "Remember slow and steady." Allen said to everyone with a quiet voice, as they all started to move. Then Bait made a loud enough burp that made him jump off Drake and echo threw the mountain.
Soon an avalanche started to come down. "Run!" Callum said to everyone, as they started to run as fast as they could, while Drake grabbed Bait. "Allen! Drake! Can't the Pokemon do anything to help us!?" Kali asked Allen and Drake. "No. We don't have time to let out or Pokemon and the ones we do have out are too weak to do anything to stop an avalanche!" Allen said to Kali. "Less talk more running!" Drake said to everyone.
Then Ezran tripped. "Ezran!" Drake said too Ezran, as they all stopped. Rayla then helped Ezran up with her left hand, making her groan in pain, making everyone notice Rayla's right hand, as Rayla gripped her left hand. "What happened to your hand?" Ezran asked Rayla. "Don't worry about it. Just run!" Rayla said as she grabbed Ezran with her left hand and they all started to run again.
"We're not going to make it! It's like a snow-nami!" Rayla said to everyone as she looked back. "Don't look back, just keep running." Allen said to everyone. Then Callum looked back and stopped. "Callm, what are you doing?" Ezran asked Callum. "Yeah we got to keep moving." Drake said to Callum. "Get behind me." Callum said to everyone. Everyone then got behind Callum, as the avalanche was closing in on them.
Callum then pulled out the Primal Stone, and drew the Aspiro symbol. "Aspiro!" Callum said before he casted the spell. With the help of Aspiro, a wedge was formed in the avalanche, giving everyone a safe place. Allen and Drake stood by Callum's side and knew that this wasn't going to last much long. As they did they tighten grip their staffs making Drake staff glow blue, and Allen's staff glow red.
And they were right Callum lost his breath and the spell stopped. Then the avalanche started to come at them. To stop it Allen and Drake amed their staffs at the spot Callum was casting Aspiro, and a steam of electricity came out of Drake's staff, while a stream of fire came out of Allen's staff. But even with the two of them working together the avalanche overtook them and swept them down the mountain.
A few minutes later the avalanche stopped, and Drake was the first to pop out of the snow. "All right who's not dead, sound off?" Drake asked everyone, and dug himself out of the snow. "I'm alive, and so is Rockruff." Allen said as he and Rockruff popped out of the snow, and dug themselves out of the snow. "Me and Fomantis are alive." Kali said as she and Formantis popped out of the snow, and dug themselves out of the snow
Then Callum popped out of the snow. "Callum's alive." Allen said, as Callum dug himself out of the snow. "And I found Rayla and Gligar." Kali said as she stood next to Rayla and Gligar, who had their upper bodies in the snow and Rayla's leg and Gligar tail's sticking out of the snow. "Is everyone okay?" Callum asked everyone, as Kali pulled Rayla out of the snow, and Fomantis pulled Gligar out of the now. Once Rayla was free she got up, while Gligar just stayed on the ground.
"Where's that hiccuping, juice-thief frog?" Rayla asked everyone, as he looked around for Bait. "Don't know, but I've found Ezran." Drake said to Rayla as pointed to Ezran, who was on a frozen lake. Then Bait popped out of the snow above the gang. "He's right there, and he's okay. We all made it!" Ezran said to everyone. "Thank Arceus, that could have been a lot worse." Allen said to everyone. "Yeah nice work Callum, and we were lucky that we learned Thunderbolt and Flamethrower when we did." Drake said t Callum, as he gave Callum a pat on the back.
"Wait where is the egg!" Kali said to everyone, as they noticed that Ezran's backpack was now eggless. "There it is!" Allen said as he pointed behind Ezran. They then noticed the egg was in the middle of the frozen lake. "I'll go get the egg." Ezran said it to everyone, as he went for the egg. "Ezran be careful!" Drake yelled Ezran. Ezran then reached the egg and picked it up. But as Ezran tried to move back to land, the ice under Ezran started to crack.
"Ezran freeze!" Drake said to Ezran, making Ezran freeze "Ez! Don't move. We're coming to get you." Callum said to Ezran, as everyone dropped their stuff and the twins left their staffs. "You all stay here." Drake said to the Pokemon, as the humans and elves moved onto the lake.
Katolis
Back in Katolis, Soren was eating a lot of jelly tarts on a banch in town, with a confused and sad look on his face. That's when Claudia walked to Soren. "Hey, Sor-bear. What's wrong? You look kind of down." Claudia asked Soren. But Soren said nothing. "Aw, grizzly, grizzly Sor-baer!" Claudia said to Soren, as she ruffled Soren's hair and laughed a little bit.
"Did Dad say anything strange to you?" Soren asked Claudia, as he fixed his hair. "Yeah, he kind of did. Did he say anything strange to you?" Claudia asked Soren. "Uh.. No. Totally not, just a standard Dad Chat. What?" Soren said to Claudia, chuckling a little bit, trying his best to lie to Claudia. "Oh. Okay, I guess." Claudia said to Soren. "So… what did he say to you that was so strange?" Soren asked Claudia.
"Uh, he said that walnuts are his favorite… fruit!" Claudia said as she looked at the tree next to Soren. "I mean, that's crazy, right?" Claudia said to Soren, acting like her normal self. "I don't even think they're a fruit." Soren said to Claudia. "They're not." Claudia said to Soren.
"Well, that is strange." Soren said to Claudia. "I mean, what's his favorite vegetable, ice cream?" Claudia asked Soren, making both of them laugh, while Claudia also snorted. "Anyway. Are you ready for our mission?" Claudia asked Soren. "Yeah. I guess I am." Soren said to Claudia.
"Great. I'm sure you won't die." Claudia said to Soren, as Soren, picked up some of the jelly tarts. "What?" Soren asked Claudia, making him stop picking up some jelly tarts. "On this mission. I mean, eventually you will die. I assume. But who knows? Maybe you won't!" Claudia said to Soren, as she started to walk. "Thanks, Claudia." Soren said to Claudia, before eating another jelly tart.
Mountains In Katolis
Back with the gang everyone was slowly moving closer to Ezran, trying not to crack the ice. While Ezran looked at the ice that was cracking even more. And the Pokemon staying on the land, all with worried looks on their faces. "Rayla, come on, Ezran needs us." Allen said to Rayla, who was hesitant to get on the frozen lake.
"Stay still, we're almost there." Callum said as he and Drake got on their buts and slowly moved to Ezran. Callum then reaches Ezran, while Drake stops a few feet back, and the rest of the gang spread apart from each other by a few feet, with the order of the gang from middle of the lake to the land, Ezran, Callm, Drake, Kali, Allen, and Rayla at the end close to the land. "Easy does it. Just pass it over." Callm said to Ezran, as he got on his knees.
Ezran then passed it to Callum. Callum then stood up and cracks formed under one of his feet. "What now?" Rayla asked everyone. "Just keep passing it, slowly." Drake said as he stood up and held out his hands. Callum then handed it to Drake. "Kay your turn Kali." Drake said to Kali, as he passed the egg to her, at the same time a few cracks appeared under his feet. "Your turn Pervert." Kali said to Allen, as she passed the egg to him, at the same time a few cracks appeared under her feet. "Is now really the time for the name calling." Allen said to Kali, as he took the egg and as a few cracks appeared under his feet.
"Okay Rayla your turn." Allen said as he handed the egg to Rayla. But Rayla didn't take it. "No I can't." Rayla said to Allen. "Rayla what's wrong?" Kali asked Rayla "Rayla, I'm sorry if I was a jerk before. We're lucky to have you as our friend." Callum said to Rayla. "And we all trust you so take the egg." Drake said to Rayla. But then Rayla took a few steps back.
"No, wait. I don't deserve your trust… not yet." Rayla said to everyone. "Why not?" Allen asked Rayla. "I need to tell you all the truth." Rayla said to everyone. "Rayla now's not the time for a confession." Allen said to Rayla. "Listen, this morning, the big rush was because me and Gligar were attacked by someone. A human and a large bird. We fought them off, but it was hard. Because of this." Rayla said as she showed off her left hand.
"Rayla, Allen's right. You don't need to do this right now." Callum said to Rayla, as the cracks under Allen got bigger. "Yes, I do. This is an assassin's binding. A Moonshadow elf ritual. Before me, Kali, and our Pokemon met you all, I swore an oath. I bound myself… to end Prince Ezran's life. And this binding will never come off while he's alive." Rayla said to everyone.
"Why would you do that?" Drake asked Rayla. "It's a motive for them to finish their mission, in case they change their minds about the target." Kali said to Drake. "What do you mean?" Allen asked Kali. "She means. It will just get tighter and tighter until I lose my hand." Rayla said to Allen. "Lose your hand!?" Allen asked Rayla, with a shock tune in his voice. "But I'm ready to pay that price." Rayla said to everyone.
"Thank you for telling us, but we need to focus on the situation." Callum said to Rayla. "Yeah, now take the egg." Allen said to Rayla, as he handed her the egg. But again Rayla didn't take it. "There's one more thing. The night I met you all, something bad happened." Rayla said to everyone. "Rayla, there's no time." Callm said as cracks under all of them started to connect to each other. "Callum, I need to tell you. The King-" Rayla said to Callum, but Callum interpreted herr. "Allen give it to her!" Callum said to Allen. Allen said nothing and forced Rayla to take it.
Rayla then held in her hands. But then the pain in her left hand was too much to bear and she dropped the egg. The egg smashed through the ice. This causes the humans and elves to circle the hole the egg made with a worried and scared look on their face. "You dropped it!" Callum said to Rayla. "I just told you my hand was messed up." Rayla said to Callum. "Well, use the other hand!" Callum said to Rayla. "Stop it! Both of you!" Allen said to Callum and Rayla.
"Yeah Stop arguing! We have to do something!" Ezran said to Callum and Rayla. Then with a brave face, Ezran jumped into the freezing water. "EZRAN!" Drake yelled with fear in his voice. "Ez, no! Ezran!" Callum said to Ezran. "I'm going in after him." Callum said to everyone. "Me too." Drake said to everyone. "Don't!" Rayla and Allen said as they pulled Callum and Drake back and held them in an arm lock, with Rayla holding Callm, and Allen holding Drake.
"What why?" Callm asked Rayla and Allen. "Callum you're not fit enough to rescue anybody and Drake, you have the powers of an electric Dragon, freezing water isn't a good idea for someone like you." Allen said to Callum and Drake, as Callum and Drake tried to break free of Allen and Rayla's arms. "Ezran will get it. He'll save the egg. We have to believe in him. And we're going to need to be up here to pull him out." Rayla said to Callum and Drake, as Drake and Callm got up, but Allen and Rayla' was still holding onto one of their arms.
"He's just a kid!" Callum said to Rayla. "And it is my job to protect him." Drake said to Allen. "He's brave and strong. He can do this." Rayla said to Callum. "And you can protect him, if you accidentally fill the lake with electricity." Drake said to Callum. Then the Humans and Elves gathered around the hole. "Come on. Come on!" Callum said to the hole. "It's going to be okay. Ez will get it." Rayla said to Callum. "I hope you're right." Kali said to Rayla.
After a few seconds, nothing came up. "You were wrong. He's not coming back." Callum said to Rayla. "I'm sorry." Rayla said to Callum. "Don't say that, it's only been a few seconds. We can't give up yet." Drake said to Callum and Rayla. Rayla then started to pull on her armband. "Drake's right. He's alive! The binding is still tight. Ez is still alive. He has to be." Rayla said to everyone. "Everyone start looking." Drake said to everyone.
Then the sound of something crashing through the ice filled the air. Everyone then turned to see two large holes in the ice. "What the?" Kali said, as whatever crashed into the ice broke out of the ice. The two creatures were large bears with white fur, three black claws on their front arms, black eyes, and three icicles for breads. And in one of the arms of the first bear was Ezran with Ezran's eyes closed, and in one of the arm's of the second bear was the egg.
"A pair of Beartic." Allen said to everyone. "Baertic." Kali said as the gang moved closer to the Beartics. "Here." Allen said as he pulled out his Pokedex.
Beartic / Freezing Pokemon / Ice Type / It Swims energetically through frigid seas. When it gets tired, it freezes the seawater with its breath so it can rest on the ice.
Then when the gang got to the Beartics one of the Beartics gave Ezran to Callum, as Allen put away his Pokedex. "Ezran?" Callum said as he looked at Ezran. Drake then placed two fingers on Ezran's neck. "He's cold, but alive." Drake said to Callum. "Thank you Beartic. You saved my brother. "Yeah thank you." Ezran said to Beartic, as he opened his eyes. This made the gang really happy and gave Ezran a big warm group hug.
But during the hug, Ezran noticed that the egg in the other Beartic arm was losing color. "Oh, no." Ezran said to everyone, getting their attention. "What is it Ezran?" Drake asked Ezran. "Something's wrong with the egg." Ezran said to everyone. "We need to get it somewhere warm, where we can look at it." Kali said to everyone. "I have an idea." Allen said to everyone.
"Beartic I know this is asking more of you, even after you already saved Ezran and the egg. But do you know a place where we can get warm?" Allen asked the Beartics. "Beartic bear beartic tic." The first Beartic said to the second Beartic. "Beartic bear bear beartic." the second Beartic said to the first, before nodding its head yes. "Beartic tic beartic." The first Beartic said to the gang, before it and the second Beartic started to move with the egg still in the arm of the second Beartic.
"I'll take that as a yes. Let's go, humans, elves, and Pokemon." Allen said to everyone, as the gang grabbed their stuff and the staff's, and started to follow the Beartics. A few minutes later everyone made it to a large cave that was near the lake. Inside the cave was a dozen of Beartic counting the two that were with the gang, and half a dozen of little bears with white fur, a blue head, and large blue booger hanging from each of their noises.
"These are Cubchoo." Drake said to everyone. "Cubchoo?" Callum asked Drake. "They're cute." Kali said to everyone. "If you ignore their booger." Rayla said to everyone. "Those boogers are how they attack, and be nice after all this is their home." Drake said Rayla. "What do you mean they use boogers to attack?" Rayla asked Drake. "Here listen to this." Drake said as he pulled out his Pokedex.
Cubchoo / Chill Pokemon / Ice Type / It sniffles before performing a move, using its frosty to provide an icy element to any move that needs it.
"Beartic bear bear beartic." The second Baertic said to the gang and to the Pokemon in the cave, while standing in the middle of the cave. Soon all the Beartic and Cubchoo started to move to the middle of the cave. "Beartic bear." the first beartic said as it started to push the gang a little. "Okay okay we're moving." Drake said to the Beartic as the gang moved the middle of the cave.
Soon all the Beartic and Cubchoo crowded around the gang. "Well this isn't the best, but it's better than nothing." Drake said to everyone. "I'll go find some wood to make a fire." Allen said to everyone. "Beartic, can I leave to find some firewood?" Allen asked the first Beartic. "Beartic." The first Beartic said to Allen, as it nodded it's head yes, and let Allen out of the crowd. Allen then left the cave to go look for wood.
Once he knew he was alone, he pulled out the armband again. "An assassin's binding." Allen said to himself. "While the target is alive it will just keep getting tighter." Allen said to himself, as he tightened his grip on the armband. "And you only had two targets that night. Ezran and Harrow." Allen said to himself as he drew a E and a H in the snow.
"And since this one came off it can only mean." Allen said to himself as he whipped the H away. "So that's it. You're scared of telling us Harrow is dead." Allen said to himself, as he looked at the armband. "I should tell them." Allen said to himself. But then an image flashed in his head.
The image was of Callum yelling at Rayla, with tears in his eyes, as Drake held onto Ezran, who was crying his eyes out, while Kali holding Rayla, who was holding back her tears. "No this truth is not mine to tell. Rayla or Kali have to tell them. If I do. The friendship between them and the princes will shatter. But if Rayla or Kali tell them. Then the bond will be broken, not shatter." Allen said to himself, before putting the armband away, and started to look for firewood.
