Chapter Three - Elysia
Watching her move around the laboratory with an almost supernatural grace, he wondered what the future held for his new creation. She had been reshaped by his hands, but now she was free to forge her own path. But would this be a blessing or a curse?
As Dr. Frankenstein contemplated these questions, he was faced with the grim reality that others might come to know what he had done. Certainly the world was not yet ready to accept a creature like this, which could be seen as yet another aberration of science that defied the laws of nature.
Recalling all the events that led him to break the promise he had made to himself not to repeat his experiences, he knew that now he would have to protect that young woman, even if it meant sacrificing his own reputation and freedom. But how could he keep her safe in a world that certainly wouldn't understand her?
Determined to face this challenge, Victor turned to her creation, who now looked at him with eyes full of childish curiosity.
- Do you have a name? - he asked, trying to find out if there was still a connection between the young woman who had died after falling from the cliff and this new being that he had brought back to life.
The woman tilted her head, considering the question for a moment.
- No - she finally replied. - But I would like to have one. A name that is mine, that represents who I am.
Dr. Frankenstein was then certain that the entire revitalization process she had gone through had completely erased the memories of the person she had been.
And therefore, he also understood the importance of that simple but decisive request.
- How about... Elysia? - suggested Dr. Frankenstein, as he looked at the young woman before him.
"Elysia, the reborn" - thought Victor - "A name that evokes beauty, serenity and a new beginning."
The woman nodded slowly, experiencing the sound of the name on her lips. It felt right, like something inside her resonated with that choice.
- Elysia... - she murmured, testing the pronunciation - Yes, I like that name. It's like it belongs to me.
As if her new name reinforced her purpose, she looked at her creator with gratitude. She felt ready to face the world. And, to his surprise, she offered him her hand.
They left the laboratory together hand in hand, heading towards a future full of uncertainty, but also full of possibilities. Dr. Frankenstein knew they would certainly face challenges they never imagined, but believing that Elysia would change the world in one way or another, he was determined to make sure it was for the good.
Now, walking through the dark streets, Doctor Frankenstein pondered the fate that awaited them. He felt responsible for her, united with him in a way he still couldn't explain or measure.
The young woman, in turn, absorbed everything around her with an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Every sound, every smell, every glimpse of the city sparked his newfound curiosity. She touched the walls of the houses, watched the stars in the sky with fascination and felt the cold night wind on her face. It was as if she was experiencing everything for the first time, and in a way, she was.
She was a creature of duality, part human, part something more, and this duality would define her journey.
As they walked through the gloomy streets of the city of Nice, Victor Frankenstein and Elysia began to notice curious looks directed in their direction. The people passing by whispered among themselves, casting glances full of suspicion and fear at the unusual figure that accompanied the doctor.
It became evident that they could not remain there for long without attracting unwanted attention from authorities or people who might want to exploit Elysia's uniqueness for their own ends.
