Percy kept his head down as he attempted to ignore his family's rambunctious behaviour. Why did he have to be here? Why couldn't he be in a peaceful library to focus on his book and prepare himself for the future?
Instead, he was sitting at the dining room table, his eyes forcefully trying to read the words, as his other senses were flooded with everything but tranquility.
His nose smelt the delicious cookies his mother and sister were making in the kitchen not far from him. His mouth was dry from the lack of water after Ron had split it when playing catch with their dad. The ringing in his ears was due to his twin brother's new creation which was actual ringing bells! And the table shook when his two oldest brothers floo'ed in after visiting one of their friends.
"We're home!"
Their mother instantly moved towards them, giving them both a hug and leaving Ginny alone to tend to the baking.
"Who wants to play Quidditch?" Bill called out.
After a sudden burst of noise, the distractions and annoyance slowly dissipated as his family began to leave the cramped living space and his mother returned to the kitchen.
"Are you not going outside?" his mother asked.
Percy shook his head firmly. "Definitely not."
"Hey, Perce!" Bill called as he jogged back into the room.
"What is it?"
"Come outside and play a game with us."
Percy was ready to repeat his affirmative no until he looked up and saw his brother smiling genuinely at him. He was always happy for Percy to join in with anything they did, unlike some of his siblings. This made it difficult to not agree. "I'm not sure."
Bill's smile widened. "It'll be fun. I promise," he started. "And later today I can show you a secret spot where you can finish that book without being found."
Percy found his lips turning upwards to match his brothers. He always understood him. "Only if I'm a chaser."
"As long as you're on my team!"
With a nod, Percy stood up and went outside to play a game with his family. It was absolute chaos, with the rules not being clear… but also fun.
Bill's smile remained contagious throughout the entire game and he kept his word about a good spot to read.
