"Absolutely not!"

James let out a sigh in disappointment. While he knew that was going to be the answer, he had hoped that she'd have seen the funny side to it. That was not the case. She had stopped mid-tea-making to glare at him. "Don't you think-"

"Nothing you can say will make me think that that is even a remotely good idea," Lily explained, returning back to her tea.

Usually, James would stop then. That was a clear sign that this conversation was over. However, on this occasion, he wasn't going to give up so easily. "Can you at least think about it?"

James darted backward suddenly as Lily spun around, her red hair flying out around her.

"Do you really think it is appropriate to even suggest that our six-year-old son should dress up like a Death Eater for Halloween?" Lily stood there, her eyes and demeanor demanding an answer.

He should have backed down. "The war is over…"

Lily's eyes fired up in anger. "And that validates making like a group of mass-murderers? Those who followed He-Who-Could-Not-Be-Named? Those that walked into our home five years ago and tried to kill him? You think that it's appropriate to make a mockery of the war and everybody that died?"

Those were very valid points. "Halloween is about dressing up scarily, that's what you said," he replied in an attempt of defense.

To his surprise, she nodded. "I did." She finished her making her tea before continuing the conversation, "however, it cannot be offensive. Keep thinking."

James relented. He didn't want to upset people and if Lily reacted that way, perhaps somebody else would. And they might not as nice as Lily - they could hex him.

He watched as Lily wandered around the kitchen, thinking through the options he and Sirius came up with. Does he go safe and choose something that Lily would agree to? Or risky again? Or boring?

"How about…" he started, thinking it through. He decided then and there that a cute option would be the most appropriate. "Mini prongs?"

She looked up at her, the consideration on her face. "A stag?"

James nodded. Was that not a safe option? Would she turn that down?"

With a shrug, she agreed. "Sure. I would have gone with a vampire or ghost, but a stag would work."

Accomplishment filled James, however, the idea of dripping blood over his son was an appealing idea. However, having a 'mini-prongs' was too fun to give up the idea just yet.
