Word count: 445

Summary: Hermione and Draco's parents meet; it doesn't go well.

Hermione had known that today would be incredibly difficult. However, she and Draco were not going to let small things such as their parents' opinions create a rift between the two of them. After all, the world was different now; people were more accepting, or so Hermione thought.

Instead of having to defend her love for Draco, and fight his parents, she was shocked into silence at her parents disapproving of Draco's parents. Her eyes went dry due to how long her eyes had been wide open while she stared at her parents in disbelief.

"Did you just call me stuck-up?" Lucius asked, his voice lower and deeper than it had been a minute ago.

Hemione's mother held her head up high. "If it talks like a duck."

"Mum!"

Jane turned her attention to her. "Yes, dear?" she asked, as though she hadn't just insulted her boyfriends' dad.

"Can we be civil, please?"

Jane let out a small huff and picked up her folk. "Of course, dear."

Hermione closed her eyes for a second in despair over the situation. "Thank you," she finally said, breaking the tense silence that filled the space between them.

She glanced at her boyfriend, unable to formulate a sentence. Thankfully, he took the hint and took over.

"Hermione and I just discovered a ruin near Littlehampton on our weekend away. It's extremely breathtaking," he informed them.

"How lovely," Narcissa commented, a curt smile on her face. "Perhaps your father and I will go sometime. Right, Lucius?"

Lucius removed his harsh glare on the muggle and towards his wife. "Yes. How about we go this weekend?"

And then, without any other triggers, Jean stepped up with another comment. "Just like that? No planning?"

This time, however, Lucius wasn't formal in his reply. "That's what wizards can do; we can do whatever we like."

"Oh really? Is that true?" Jean challenged.

Lucius took in a deep intake of breath.

But before he could release it. "Oh! Look at the time! We must be heading off. Come on, Mum, Dad. Let's go," Hermione rushed out, standing up and leaving her half-drunk tea and half-eaten food.

"I am…"

"Now," she ordered.

Hermione's father stood up as instructed. "Thank you for having us over," he said politely to the Malfoy parents. He then prompted Jean to stand up also and practically led her out of the house.

Hermione looked to Draco and then his parents. "Sorry about her. She's been a bit snappy after I returned her memory."

After receiving nods, she followed her parents out in order to ensure they got home safely. Needless to say, it had not been a successful get-together.
