A man of his words was the first impression she had of Captain Uchiha. His pledge to bring back every partner he is with alive has never been broken. She is alive because he saved her from threats of inviting Alpha enemies over to violate her, much worse kill her after she is left crippled. While he did say in order to save her he would need to violate her, the deed itself didn't correspond with what the word 'violate' had been perceived in her mind up until that moment.
Had she not experienced it herself, she would have never known that even without sex, Omega's heat episode could subside by tricking the body into believing that it was sex. What's more effective than bringing an Omega to a climax?
He is a man of his words. He did violate her, but he only did what was necessary.
So that is why, when he said he wanted to talk, she anticipated to be called to his office on the next day. Then she waited, anxious and in a way she was aching to meet him. She hadn't had a chance to properly thank the man. The second day after the mission came, and she still hadn't heard from him. On the third day, she decided to finally visit her longtime Omega specialist for an appointment after delaying it because, well, she had anticipated to be called to Anbu Headquarters at any moment.
Her last mission was a long running and the most exerting she had in the past month, hence she wouldn't be summoned to another mission until a week had passed. All the more reason for the captain to summon her because both of them as a matter of fact have literally nothing to do mission-wise.
On the fourth day, she eventually comes to doubt the validity of her first impression of the captain that eventually leads to question the genuine reason of her … anticipation to meet him. Whether he is a man of his words or not, she shouldn't have fretted over something that quite honestly won't benefit her.
Just when she decides to stop mulling over the fate of their much needed talk, a messenger sparrow knocks on her window with its short beak later in the evening. With craned neck to see over her newly purchased lilies neatly arranged in her on sale purchased narrow vase, Hinata puts down her knife, washes her hands, then hastily rubs them dry on her apron as she walks towards the window overlooking the nightlife in the heart of Konoha.
Hinata opens the window and lets the bird fly inside before it nestles on a nearby desk as if it has always known her apartment interior. A familiar parchment made secured by twine is strapped on its left feet with a small Anbu insignia painted in black in the center. Hinata unfastens the strap and safely secures the memo within her fist. Before she can open the lid of a wooden chest filled with seeds, the bird immediately flies outside indicating there is no need for a prompt reply.
Closing the window, Hinata stares curiously at the memo on her palm. She opens it, her eyes rapidly scans through the neat writing. After reading the memo at once, Hinata rolls back the parchment and places it atop the desk. She walks back to the kitchen with a faint smile.
Call it fate, the memo told her that she is needed to attend the welcoming ceremony of Anbu new recruits tomorrow.
And as Vice Head Division, he will definitely attend as well.
The ceremony is close to its end and she doesn't know when the new recruits started lining up to receive their individual mask. But she hasn't quite paid attention to it since her arrival anyway seeing that her focus has been elsewhere from the start.
To her, Captain Uchiha seems to like appearing in her life at the most unlikely time. Because, right after she thought he wouldn't appear at all—seeing that only the last three new recruits remained to receive their masks—he enters through the right side door quietly. Despite his title as vice head division, no one seems to sense his presence because he is just another Alpha entering the conference room already filled with refined Alphas—some even more refined than him. But she does. To a very great extent.
She could be dreaming, but even she knows that it is the reality when they lock eyes. But when she catches the slight widening of his eyes at the sight of her, she comes to doubt her rationality.
Suddenly struck by hefty amount of self-consciousness, she tries hard to look at something but him. She hasn't even looked at his face properly to confirm if indeed it is Captain Uchiha. But she is sure her eyes weren't playing tricks on her in that matter. And no matter how deep rooted her resolution is, like there is a magnet, his merely presence keeps drawing her attention.
She half-turns to the side in her weak attempt to conceal watching him so openly, rather than gawking at him when she was coincidentally facing the door he had just entered. Someone approaches him and they talk in a quiet exchange. He cuts their conversation short with a curt nod and the one talking to him looks as if he still wanted to talk, but the raven haired captain walks past him in quiet stride. Then he is walking.
He is walking towards … her? It can't be, can it?
Hinata turns again so her back faces his approaching figure. But even without activating her Byakugan, she can sense his deep obsidian eyes bore a hole through her back.
He would need to walk the entire length of the room's longest side in order to reach her, so it would take time. At the thought she inhales deeply. And it isn't like it is really her he is walking towards for. She exhales slowly only to stop midway when she senses someone's breathing right behind the top of her head.
The voice that is extremely familiar and belongs to none other than Captain Uchiha reaches her ears in a low tone. "I need you in my office," he orders, grasping her wrist in a not so strong not loose at all grip while doing so.
It all happens too fast, her brain is still thinking about the fact that the captain has just entered the conference room, then walked over to her, and now is dragging her with him towards his office.
What?
Momentarily having full control of her body and before she loses any more prudence, she pulls on her wrist and manages to put them in a stop. "What is this about, sir?"
They lock eyes, and she is forced to admire the depth of his eyes, the long curve of his thick eyelashes, the distinctive arch of his dark eyebrows, the sharp slope of his nose, and the slender movements of his pale lips as he all but says, "We need to talk, don't we?"
They stop for only a short time before he effortlessly regains control over them.
It definitely is the first time she ever observes his face properly at such a short distance. The experience terribly differs from a mere side glance over his photograph in the databook or even acknowledge nod when he passed by.
What is wrong with her?
Who is the captain but her superior in Anbu? Why does it feel like she has started to view the man in an untouchable new light…
Inevitable fear looms over her being and as if in the middle of training, her ears catch the sound of her hammering heart. The organ pumps strongly in rapid beats. Her throat feels dry so she gulps down her saliva only to feel as though she was swallowing sand.
They finally arrive at the last corridor, still in the same level floor as the conference room. Appointed as vice head barely two months ago, he hasn't had the need to summon her. But she knows the office like the back of her hand due to her frequent visits to its former owner. The office is located at the end of the corridor. From the distance they are now, she can make out the words etched on an iron plate and coated in black.
UCHIHA SASUKE
Vice Head of Konoha Defence Division
Uchiha… Sasuke…
She has never heard someone call him by his given name. So it feels odd to pronounce and hear it even though it is only inside her head.
As they near the door to his office, she finally get the sense of what is really happening. He said he wanted to talk, and she had anticipated to be summoned, but it was four days ago. This isn't how she has pictured it should be and she comes back to square one—when she wasn't ready.
What if he decides to expose her? Or does he have the decency do it quietly by asking her to forsake her title in dignity? Or will he punish her from defying the laws and deceiving the highly regarded organization of elite shinobis?
Her legs sway, drops of sweat cover her forehead, the breaths she takes in difficulty do not meet the need of oxygen intake, and something pools between her thighs. It almost feels like how she was in heat some days ago.
Am I in heat?!
As if sensing it, his grip on her wrist momentarily tightens before he replaces his arm to effectively hold her in place and quickens his pace. He opens the door and closes it, ending the whole procedure with a click that must have been the sound of the lock.
"Sit on the desk. I'll make it quick."
Author's Note : my... Sasuke's ending line always sounds provocative (ō_ō)
