"Shift your leg to the left a bit and lower your damn Tanto. You open to way too many attacks," Tenten shouted. I did as said because I didn't want to get beaten brutally in a spur of the moment "Spar" Again, "Good. Now your stance is perfect unlike all of those previous attempts. Now memorize the exact pose so we can move on to actually swinging the damn thing correctly." Tenten then went to sit down.
'Damn, slavedriver.' So as it turns out Tenten was a perfectionist when it came to Bukijutsu. We had been training for three days already and after the first two of getting to know the Tanto and getting a feel of it whilst fighting, I was supposed to perfect the basic forms of Kenjutsu. It had taken two hours but I had finally gotten the perfect pose!
With minimal bruises too!
Now Tenten was incredibly kind normally. Especally when pointing out mistakes in my Caligraphy. She was downright cruel when it came to Bukijutsu. Especially in spars. Now whilst I wasn't happy with her cruelty at times, I had to admit it gave results. Like... If I had known that training with someone was so much better than alone than I thought it was then I would have gone to hell and back to find Maito Gai and Jiraya and force them to train me somehow.
[Basic Kenjutsu lvl 4:
Ability to use a sword according to level]
With her help, I had also leveled up Taijutsu a bunch. Now learning it took a week. It took a week to get the skill alone and It hadn't even leveled up once after. Now. With the help of Tenten, who mind you isn't even a Taijutsu specialist...
[Basic Hummingbird fist lvl 4:
Taijutsu style that revolves around speed and kicks. Skill increases with level]
Four times. I leveled up four fucking times in three days. I know that it'd be slower every level but with Tenten and I's skill gap and her determination(And oh god was she determined) to make me not suck it would probably be at a fairly high level by the time I graduated.
Unfortunately, Tenten could only help me so far in Fuinjutsu. She's only read up to book two in the Fuinjutsu for Dummies Series. I'm almost done with book one already. So there isn't much to teach me there. But I should be able to do what I intend too do with Fuinjutsu with just knowledge from book two if it had the information I wanted. This would revolutionize the Naruto world as I know it and it would help me not need to waste time on hand seals.
"Alright exit the position and lets see if you memorized it," Tenten suddenly cut me off from my thoughts and looked at me expectantly. I quickly exited the basic Kenjutsu stance and then reentered it. Tenten began circling me like a shark and I was barely able to restrain myself from shaking thankfully, "Alright you passed. Next we'll be teaching you how to use the Tanto correctly soon. Now take a break."
A sigh of relief left my body, "That was tiring," Holding up a sword for five minutes was more tiring than I thought it would be. Either I was just weak or the constant sparring and training was starting to wear down on me today... I suppose thats why Tenten said I should take a break.
Tenten sat down across from me and threw a bottle of water at me, "Drink it. You'll need it," I downed it like my life depended on it which made Tenten chuckle, "Alright your calligraphy is almost there. Just maybe another days worth of practice and you will be golden."
"Yay!" I weakly raised a hand into the air, "Soon enough I can follow my plans,"
"You know you never told me about what your actually going to do once your able to actually do fuinjutsu. I know you've studied the first book entirely almost so what type of Fuinjutsu do you intend to use?" Tenten shifted into looking at me curiously. There were a few type of Fuinjutsu specialists. But the most common three were Combat Fuinjutsu users, Barrier(Which was the hardest type of Fuinjutsu to learn) Fuinjutsu users, and Trap Fuinjutsu users. THere were a few other types but these were the most common three.
Now I intend to study Combat, Barrier, and Bijuu seals. But the seal that would be my Magnum Opus was a... "Combat Fuinjutsu. I had an idea to make combat Fuinjutsu a lot more powerful and I intend to use it to revolutionize Konoha," Well the world at large one day actually but I wanted to start small.
"You intend to revolutionize Konoha with a combat seal? You have to be planning a pretty damn powerful seal then. Spill it." Tenten leaned forward. She was the one person I could reliably count on to talk to about Fuinjutsu. I am sure she would jump onto this project with me because its going to be that useful.
I grinned. "Well-"
I knew today was going to be a special day. A really special day for me. Also a few others probably. Actually probably 100% of the class would be excited. Even Sasuke. I could see the excitement in his eyes when I walked in. Today was the day the electives would be unveiled and then chosen. I knew which two I wanted if they were available.
"Alright class settle down," Iruka's voice carried a different weight in it than usual. He was oddly... serious... It was a bit unnerving, "Now today is a very special day for a few reasons. You all have been in the academy for over four years by this point," His gaze softened momentarily, "You have all been filled with practical and theoretical knowledge bu tnow is the time to take that a step further," He stopped for a moment to let the suspense build-up, "You will all take elective classes that will pretty much be the deciding point in what shinobi art or arts you specialize in. So choose wisely because you will not get a chance to pick otherwise,"
He then pulled a giant curtain down with the electives on it. There were the main three Shinobi arts. Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, and Taijutsu. There were also most of the other less used arts like Fuinjutsu, Bukijutsu, Medical jutsu, Barrierjutsu, and even Jujutsu. There were also other important things like Tracking, survival skills, politics, and even more I didn't feel like going through. Iruka then coughed to gather our attention, "You will all be given forms that explain more in-depth what you are signing up for and they contain the forms that will let you take the classes. Pick wisely please. You only get two choices.,"
Suddenly there was a form on each one of our desks. I grabbed mine and looked at Ninjutsu first. 'You will be taught basic elemental manipulation excorcises along with one D rank jutsu in this class. Along with learning about your element, you will also be able to figure out your sub-element and learn about it for future learning. You will not be taught how to manipulate it though as that would be too difficult.' That made sense... Why were they even allowing academy students to know a second one then? Most academy students are rather... stupid.
Oh well. Not my problem.
I marked a checkbox under Ninjutsu and put my name up in the top left corner. It felt like elementary school all over again. I didn't like that... It made me think of my past life... I decided to look down at the Fuinjutsu section.
'Fuinjutsu is the most dangerous Shinobi art available.' Technically a lie but okay.' We will teach you how to perfect your calligraphy before anything else. If you have that down then you will be taught basic seals and one slightly advanced seal along with the theory for those seals.' Say no more. I knew a lot about most basic seals but I wanted to know more. Books just couldn't amount lecture from a teacher. A book could only describe so much. I checked the box on the Fuinjutsu elective and placed it down on my desk. It promptly disappeared. 'Shinobi... I can't feel any in the room. Must be good at hiding their chakra...'
I looked around and saw most other students were done. There were a few who had trouble picking. A few civilians, Naruto, Hinata, and to nobody's surprise; Shikamaru. I bet he picked tracking or something like interrogation but was having trouble picking the second one.
Man... Everyone looked so excited. It was pleasant, to say the least. Someone then raised their hand. A random civilian, "Uh Sensei?" Iruka looked over to the student in question, "What will the rest of us be doing whilst the others are still picking their electives?" That was actually a good question. Knowing at least Shikamaru would take a long time meant that we'd all be here longer than needed.
"Hm... I hadn't thought about that actually," The man seemed to expect us all to pick Ninjutsu or something apparently. Not that I faulted him. I saw him eye us all and I damn well know he could see where our hands moved. Someone tried to cheat on a test and it didn't go well for them. He could probably see which ones of us picked Ninjutsu. He paced around the room for a second before looking like he had an eureka moment, "Alright class. To those who are done choosing their elective, you all can go outside early,"
Oh hey extra training! Now that I was gonna complain!
Iruka and the rest of the class finally came out half an hour ago and spars were now going on. I was a bit nervous to say the least but I held out hope I'd win today. As long as I didn't face a named character or a particularly strong Civilian I would be fine. I wasn't the physically strongest or the best at Taijutsu but I was nimble. My dexterity has increased a lot thanks to training with Tenten. Moreso than my other stats. A whole two weeks of training had been worth it.
[Name: Kukui Tanku
Title: Gamer of Konoha
Chakra: 220/220
Energy points: 220/220
Dexterity: 12
Strength: 11
Constitution: 11
Chakra: 11
Chakra control D]
My stats had only went up by one. My dexterity used to be the lowest stat. But it was now my highest. I should be able to move faster than a good amount of people. Not to mention running. I had leveled it up a lot in the last three months... To believe it had been three months.. Well over three months.
[Running lvl 7:
Increases running speeds by 35%
Cost: 9 energy points per second]
Running's cost only went down every four levels. But it had incredible boosts. It was pretty much extra dexterity but only for my legs. So if I had to fight someone better than me in Taijutsu or strength wise which is likely, my fight would be made easier if I was faster than my opponent. I hadn't used running in the track at all so nobody knew about it. Although if I had to unveil it I'd begin to use it. But this would make my fight far more possible to win.
Speaking of fights so far the fights had been either relatively one sided or boring. So I was studying some traps. I wasn't going to specialize in them but I would use them. Any advantage I could get I'd gladly take. I wasn't going to be a god any time soon or at all so I needed to play dirty.
So far all of the biggest obstacles to my first win were gone. Shino, Kiba, Hinata, Naruto, and Sasuke. I was confident I could at least contend with Chouji, Shikamaru, Sakura, and Ino along with the other to civilians who were half decent. Although my chances against Chouji were minimal even with him not wanting to fight I had one key thing over him. I was faster. Like... I was quite a bit faster. He had to have a lower dexterity than me by at least two.
Now if I faced Sakura, Ino, or another civilian who wasn't half bad then I would probably lose in skill. But I'd be faster. At least faster than them by a little bit. Now the one person I'd have trouble beating would be Chouji. If he actually tried then he would probably kick my ass. But the chances of me fighting a clan kid were low due to my loss against Hinata.
"Kukui Tanku vs Chouji Akimichi." Iruka announced and drew the attention of me and I presumed the Akimichi boy. Well I was wrong it seems. That or I had shit luck... Or maybe I just used it all up when I reincarnated? Yeah that sounded more likely.
I walked up to the ring. I wasn't too confident. The last spar Chouji was in ended up in the other guy looking purple because he called Chouji fat. He was a lot faster too. Not as fast as me. But still. He could still wreck stronger opponents if he wanted too. I had to be vigilant. If he was motivated my best chance was to make him tired. A tired Akimichi was an easy one to fight.
Chouji didn't look like he wanted to fight. Good. I wouldn't provoke him either. It would be rude and I liked being able to walk. The last guy is still limping. I don't wanna lose precious time.
Iruka looked at Chouji and then at me, "Are you two ready?" We did the seal of confrontation and nodded. Chouji's nod was more nervous than anything. Again this was good for me. I didn't want to hurt the guy... Well not much. I had to actually fight him. So him being nervous was good because I could just meet the other win condition instead. Push him out of the ring. Or get him to step out. Iruka smiled at the both of us, "Alright you two. Begin!" He lowered his hand and jumped back.
I didn't move and neither did Chouji. My first move had to be calculated. I couldn't waste it here. If I could speedblitz him then I could just push him out of the ring. 'I'll end this with one attack. Running.' I called for the skill in my mind and began running toward the Akimichi boy
I spun around and went for a kick that was just barely dodged. Like I did against Hinata. 'Damnit. I just need a few hits. Maybe the bastardized Leaf Hurricane wasn't just a good leading move?' Chouji seemed to be on the defense so I decided to take full advantage of it.
Running toward the Akimichi boy I poised a punch for his left side. 'Got you.' As soon as Chouji raised an arm to defend I using my left arm punched where the kidney should be. 'Perfect.' I saw him wince and step back. Just a few more steps and he'd be out of the ring.
Chouji regained his footing and blocked another kick from me. This time he grabbed my leg. In a repeat of the move I did against Hinata I jumped into the air and kicked Chouji in the Sternum which caused him to let me go. 'One more push is all I need.' I saw him take a step back. He didn't seem to notice where he was.
Good. I needed to take advantage of that. I didn't have much time with Running left. I punched Chouji's arm and then kicked an exposed spot under them; his stomach which caused him to flinch, he quickly put out his arms and pushed me away. Giving him time to recover.
'That fucking hurt.' I felt a lot of pain at the spot he pushed me. The chest. Not the Sternum. But just under it. 'That explains it I suppose.' The famous strength of an Akimichi was something to behold. Truly. But not on the reciving end of said strength. 'He's wide open though. He can't protect multiple places at once.' His arms were held together to cover everywhere from his stomach to his head. Perfect.
I ran at Chouji with all the speed I could muster up at that moment. 'Dynamic Entry!' I kicked Chouji's arms as hard as I could. He was sliding back. I then flipped off of his arms which caused him to be set of balance.
"Kukui wins..." The surprise that was there honestly didn't hurt. Iruka knew Chouji was far stronger than me... But honestly he shouldn't be surprised that Chouji didn't want to hurt me. I felt some more pain in my chest which reminded me I got hit exactly once and it still hurt like a bitch.
'This is a reminder to level up constitution for sure.' More running for me I suppose.
[Quest complete: Defeat a Clan Member in a spar:
Rewards: +1 to Constitution +2 Taijutsu lvl's]
So I do have quests after all... I should have expected this honestly. This changed a lot. I greatly appreciated the levels though. Especially the one to Constitution. Just as I was thinking about it. 'Now to do the seal of Reconciliation.'
I looked down at Chouji and quickly helped him up. "Good spar." I did the seal of Reconciliation with him. Chouji was a cool dude. He was nice and a true bro to Shikamaru. And in the Sasuke Retrival arc he became a man when he nearly died to help the team. If that wasn't cool then I don't know what is.
"Thanks. Good Spar." With that we both went our separate ways.
"Alright Kukui since your Caligraphy is good we can move on to improving you chakra control. You can hold nine leaves now, correct?" Tenten asked as she handed me back I had drawn the basic healing scrolls kanji in. Now the final part was just finishing getting my chakra control to the appropriate level.
Currently it was at Level nine. Over the last few weeks of training and grinding I had managed to level it up quickly. It had been two weeks since that fight with Chouji and things were looking good. I was really proud of my progress for the last two weeks.
[Leaf concentration excorcise lvl 9:
Allows user to levitate and eventually spin a leaf on a chakra point to build up more chakra control.
Amount of Leaf's that can be levitated: 9
Chakra cost: 1 Chakra points per second]
I nodded, "Yep! And I can hold them for a decent amount of time too!" Not over a minute as it was nine chakra points a second and I didn't even have 250 Chakra yet. Roughly 27 seconds. But it had been stuck at level Nine for like a week. So I was confident I'd be able to level it up today.
Tenten grinned, "Well then! Today is going to be the day you make your first Sealing Scroll. We just need to get you to Ten Leaves first and then you'll be making your so called Magnum Opus in no time at all!" Tenten was on the fence about my idea since it might or might not work but I was confident it would.
I grinned as well as I grabbed exactly nine leaves, "Today will be the day indeed!" I could only focus on myself and my chakra when I was using nine leaves for the excorcise since it was too hard to do otherwise. But it led to an interesting skill.
[Meditation lvl 4:
Increases the rate of chakra recovery by 8% whilst meditating]
It'd be nice if I could get it too 100% but oh well. I began meditating with the leaves being kept afloat by the chakra on my finger tips. Chakra leaving the body almost felt weirder than it being in the body. It was like taking off a nice fur coat.
One that as so comfortable that not wearing it made you feel empty and colder. It was just weird. I likely wasn't ever gonna get used to it but oh well. 'I still have so little time for this... 20 seconds remain.'
I didn't have much chakra at all, unfortunately. It was why I came up with the idea I did. It was meant to give me more freedom without as much chakra cost mid battle. A bit to shape it sure but it wouldn't be anything too consuming to use.
It also negated the need for hand seals. Although I really wanted to clap my hands when I used it. It would be inefficient yes but I don't care. Still faster than hand seals though. My seal was supposed to be pre-prepared so I could use it.
'10 seconds.' I grimaced. Yeah this took a lot of time.
[Leaf concentration has maxed out]
[Leaf concentration exorcise lvl Max:
Allows user to levitate and eventually spin a leaf on a chakra point to build up more chakra control.
Amount of Leaf's that can be levitated: 10
Chakra cost: 0.5 Chakra points per second]
[Chakra control has went up]
My grin stretched a mile wide, "I think I can do it now," I looked at Tenten and grabbed another leaf, "Lets see If I can do it," I felt my chakra lift the tenth one up.
"You did it!" Tenten shook me, "Now draw the damn seal and lets see if this works!" She seemed excited. I suppose it was the excitement of your psudeo-student acomplishing something as an aspiring fuinjutsu user.
I dropped the leaves. "I don't have much chakra left so this'll be the only one!" I couldn't help but feel excitement at this. I began pouring chakra into the ink I had with me. I then took out a small scroll. Quickly and with practiced precision I drew the seal.
I looked at the seal and my pride grew. Suddenly I heard two pings. Looking at them made me grin like a madman. Even more than I already was.
[New skill Unlocked: Sealing Scroll]
[Sealing scroll lvl 1:
Scroll that seals items
Capacity: 5 pounds
Chakra cost: 5 chakra points]
[Title unlocked: Fledgling Fuinjutsu Master]
So Kukui finally unlocked Fuinjutsu. Or rather his first seal. The sealing scroll. Or rather the scroll thats the basis for everything he'll do in the future. Also I wonder if anyone will get what I'm having Kukui make with seals. Its pretty obvious. Especially with the hint I dropped in the chapter, I won't spill though! Now I don't have the chapter planned yet but I think somewhere around Chapter nine or ten is when we see Kukui's first combat seal.
Anyways this was my favorite chapter so far. I enjoyed writing everything. Especially the fight against Chouji. Mainly due to me making Kukui think tactically there. I enjoy writing smarter/more tactical characters when I'm stupid as fuck.
Now I think I'm gonna upload soon since I have five chapters done already. I might go to eight so I'll have a seven chapter stockpile. I also need to work on today's chapter of my Kiri fic... Well technically sometime in october's chapter since I upload every six days.
I think I've rambled for too long lol. Anyways since we're like a third of the way through the arc(Yes I am making this arc 15 chapters long. I hope) I'll ask you a question.
Random Question: So far Kukui's only friend is Tenten. Who do you think Kukui is going to befriend next?
- Tobi
