B'Elanna looked at the PADD. It was a letter from her cousin on Q'onoS. Her uncle who was head of her mother's house; had just died. When she was younger her uncle always told her she had too much anger and she needed a way to release it. The last time she saw him was when they had been back in the alpha quadrant and Miral was only a few months old. Miral was seven now. Tom and she talked about going back but life seem to get in way.
"Hey," B'Elanna felt a pair of arms wrapped around her. "Everything okay?" Tom whispered against her neck.
"My uncle is gone," B'Elanna looked down at rest of the letter to see when the service was. Tom put his chin on her shoulder. The service is in three weeks because her uncle was big in the government. Tom pulled her closer.
"Do you want to go?" Tom asked. B'Elanna placed the PADD on the counter. She leaned back against Tom.
"Maybe. We will have figure out what to do with the children," B'Elanna placed her hands on Tom's arms.
"We can take them with us, or my parents can take care of them," Tom said. "It might be good to bring them because they can meet their Klingon family and school is out for few months, so we don't have to worry about school."
"Okay. I'll let my cousin know that we are coming." B'Elanna pulled out of Tom's arms and realize how quiet it was. "Where are the children?" She asked her husband.
B'Elanna was glad to be off the transporter after two weeks on it with three active children. They were crammed into small quarters with all five of them on top of each other. She glanced around the room to make sure that they had everything before following her family out.
Tom had a hand a holding on the older children and Selena strap on his back. B'Elanna's cousin was going to have someone pick them up and take them to the family home. It wouldn't be hard to find them in a crowd of Klingons.
"B'Elanna," B'Elanna turned around to see her cousin, Nirgh making his way over to them. He grabbed her in a hug that took B'Elanna's breath away. "I'm glad that you could make it," He looked over to B'Elanna's family and smiled. "Tom," He shook his hand. He looked at the children. He took in Miral's frown, and Xavier's blue eyes, and the sleeping form of Selena. "They look good," He said to B'Elanna. "Come I have transportation over here," Nirgh started grabbing their bags. B'Elanna took Miral's hand and grabbed a bag.
Her family followed her cousin and got in transporter. Her children had their faces pressed to the window watching the world pass them. Their eyes were wide as they took in the Klingon world. This world was part of them. It didn't take too long before they were at Carnong family home.
As They stopped in from of the house or fortress, B'Elanna saw Nirgh's wife and son standing outside. Nirgh jumped down and started giving orders to his men. His men and took care of the bags. Nirgh led her family to his wife. "B'Elanna, you remember my wife, Wing'ar and this is my youngest son, Vom."
Vom was two years older than Miral. Vom looked like his father. B'Elanna turned to Wing'ar. "Hello," She smiled at the other woman. They met seven years ago the last time they were here. She had bonded because their children were around the same age.
Wing'ar gripped B'Elanna's arm. "Welcome to our home," She looked over to the children. "Miral has grown, she is turning into a warrior with that look in her eyes. This one is trouble," She pointed to Xavier. B'Elanna smiled. If she only knew.
"Yes, this is our troublesome and only son, Xavier," B'Elanna said. Wing'ar let out a laugh. Selena had woken up from her nap and trying to get out of her carrier. B'Elanna smiled. "This is Selena, our youngest," B'Elanna took her out of the carrier only to have her bury her face in B'Elanna's neck.
Wing'ar smiled and led them in the house. The children didn't leave their side as they made their way in. B'Elanna saw men and women standing around, watching them. B'Elanna saw an older woman, watching her. That woman was her aunt, who never married.
"Let me take you to your rooms," Wing'ar said. B'Elanna and Tom followed them upstairs, down a hall. Wing'ar opened one door. "This will be the children's room," B'Elanna nodded. She already saw the children's bags in the room. "This will be Tom's and yours," She opened the door. "Come down when you are ready," Wing'ar headed downstairs.
B'Elanna headed downstairs with Tom, to see that the children had started to play with the children that were around their ages. Tom still had Selena in his arms, she wasn't ready to let go of Tom or B'Elanna. B'Elanna nodded to her other cousins before making her way to the head table where her aunt was. Her aunt smiled at her. "B'Elanna," She looked her up and down. "You look happy."
"Aunt Stoyr, you look good too," The older woman nodded. The story that went around the family to why she didn't get married was because her mate died in battle, and they never got to be together. The first time B'Elanna heard that story, she didn't believe it. She started noticing when her aunt had a faraway look and started to wonder what it was about. When she found Tom, she knew part of her would never love another like the way she loved Tom. If he had died in the Delta quadrant, B'Elanna knew she wouldn't be the same. She tries not to think about what could have happen if one of them died after how many times they almost did. B'Elanna felt for her aunt.
"Cone and tell me what you have been up too," She patted the chair next to her. "Are you a doctor yet?"
B'Elanna took the seat, watched Tom smile at her before leaving her. She saw him make his way over to the men that Nirgh was in. Selena went with him. B'Elanna looked around the room and didn't see her two oldest children and wondered if they were outside with the other children. "No, I only a year into it," B'Elanna turned to her aunt.
The side door open and Miral came in with a bloody lip and scraped knuckles, B'Elanna was starting to stand when her aunt touched her arm. She looked at aunt to see her smiling. "She looks just like you and I'm sure she is alright," Aunt Stoyr pointed to Miral, B'Elanna saw the biggest smile on Miral's face. B'Elanna looked at the other children to see a boy with a frown on his face, while his friends were laughing at him. Her daughter just beat that boy in fight. She saw the girls forming a circle around Miral. "Your daughter is Klingon." B'Elanna heard the proudness in Aunt Stoyr voice.
B'Elanna smiled. "That she is," B'Elanna caught Tom's eye and saw him raise an eye and she shook her head.
"Mom," Miral came running up. B'Elanna saw a tear in Miral's pants. "I just beat D'stil," B'Elanna wondered if that was the boy who was frowning when they came in. B'Elanna could see the triumph in Miral's eyes. "They didn't think that I could do, but I did it."
"That you did," B'Elanna took her daughter's face in her hand to see how bad it, but she only saw bloody lip and scraped knuckles. "Go and clean up before you get into more fights."
"Yes, Mom," Miral ran off with a group of girls following her. Her daughter will be just fine while they were here. She would tell her friends at home all about what happen. B'Elanna looked out to see how Tom was taking it to only find that men were slapping him on back on how he raised a strong daughter and pointing a Selena. She won't have to deal with him tonight.
The service for her uncle was great. She got to say goodbye to him and hope that he would get where he needed to go. B'Elanna held her aunt's hand through the whole service. Nirgh got to say goodbye to his father. He stood there like a proud Klingon with his wife and children around him. B'Elanna also saw Nirgh's brothers and sister there with their families, saying goodbye to a great man.
After the service, there was a reception at Nirgh's home. It was still going on now and B'Elanna had to take moment to herself. She stepped outside to see children were playing again. She was glad she had changed the children before they decide to play. Miral and that boy were going after each other again. B'Elanna wondered if he was challenging her again. B'Elanna hoped that Miral beat him again.
"He's a good boy," Wing'ar came standing next to her.
"Who?" B'Elanna asked. She already knew who Wing'ar was talking about. Wing'ar lifted one eyebrow.
"The boy, who is trying to beat your daughter again. He will make a good mate for your daughter." Wing'ar said.
B'Elanna stood there watching them. "I think that we will let Miral chose her mate when the time is ready and if she chooses him than Tom and I will be happy for her." Wing'ar nodded.
"He is the son of Bamuk from the house of Qok," Wing'ar added like it will help B'Elanna decide about the boy. Wing'ar told B'Elanna how smart he was and how he was turning into a great warrior. B'Elanna nodded. She couldn't wait to tell Tom about what her family thought about D'stil and Miral being a good match.
