Tom was lying in bed, reading a history a Voyager. He had to laugh with what they got wrong. He read a passage about his romance with B'Elanna:
B'Elanna Torres crawled into Tom Paris' bed one night and stayed. Tom didn't care he just wanted a woman. There weren't a lot of women to choose from. B'Elanna Torres was the best that he was going to have. B'Elanna claimed him as her mate and the other women knew to stay away. It is said that she fought another woman for Tom.
Tom started to laugh out loud. He quickly stopped when he remembered that his wife was sleeping next to him. He took a glance at her before reading more about their relationship. They said that they got married quickly and waited to have children. Tom shook his head, or he was going to start laughing again.
"Tom, will you go to sleep," B'Elanna mumbled from her side of the bed.
Tom looked over at his wife. "I thought that you were already a sleep."
"I am trying," B'Elanna sighed. "But the light from your PADD and the light on your side of the bed is bothering me."
"You never had a problem before," Tom said. There were many times that he read in the bed before he went to sleep and B'Elanna was sleeping next to him. He looked at his wife but couldn't see what was wrong with his wife. She might have something on her mind.
"I know," B'Elanna sighed and turned to face him.
Tom placed a hand on B'Elanna's hip. "I could help you get to sleep," B'Elanna thought for a second before shaking her head. "Alright," He pulled her close. "So, I have a question for you," Tom placed his PADD on the bedside table and turned off his light. B'Elanna settled in his arms. "Did you crawl in my bed for us to together on Voyager?"
"No," B'Elanna gave her husband a look. "I remember I told you I loved you in the middle of space before they got to us. I tried to ignore you, but you kissed me outside the mess hall. You later followed me to my quarters," B'Elanna smiled as she remembered that night. "Why?"
"I am reading this book about Voyager's time in space, and they said that you crawled in bed, and I let you stay," Tom smiled.
B'Elanna let out a yawn. "If I crawled in your bed, it was after we were together."
"It was usually you are having a bad day in engineering," Tom whispered.
"Hmm." Tom knew that B'Elanna was falling asleep. It was moments like these that Tom loved. He remembered B'Elanna crawling in his bed just to be held. She would fall asleep in his arms. Tom kissed the top of her head.
"Good night, love," He whispered before closing his own eyes.
"What do we have planned for today?" Tom asked. It was Saturday and he hoped that they didn't have a lot to do today. An idea came to him as he was falling asleep last night, and he wanted to work on it. He was putting the orange juice on the table.
"You are taking Selena to her spelling tournament. I have to take Xavier to his bat'leth lesson and Miral to the library so she can finish her report." B'Elanna put the waffles on the table.
Tom moaned and B'Elanna gave him a look. "An idea came to last night and I want to work on it," B'Elanna raised an eyebrow before looking at the stairs to see if the kids were making their way downstairs. "I couldn't take that book anymore, you should have heard what thy said about Chakotay and Janeway, so I want to write our story."
B'Elanna heard doors opening and closing. She knew the smell of breakfast would get the children up. "What were they saying about Chakotay and Janeway?"
Tom smiled. "That they had a sexual relationship and no one of the ship knew."
"Trust me. We would have known." B'Elanna returned his smile.
They heard footsteps making their way downstairs. "Oh, I know," Tom sighed. "You should read some of the stories I read about us. Tuvok and Janeway get together, or I get together with Janeway. You ended up with Harry Kim or Chakotay."
B'Elanna laughed as the first of their children took a seat. B'Elanna patted Tom on the chest. "Janeway would have killed you," She said before turning to the child.
After a day of listening to children spell every word in the dictionary, Tom was glad to be home. Selena ran off to call her friends about the first-place metal she won. Tom didn't know the word she won on, but it was some big medical word. He liked that the house was quiet right now. He made his way to his office in the basement. He pulled out a PADD and started to make a list of what he needed to do for him to do to write the real story about Voyager. He was going to need personal logs and official logs. He made a list of the people he was going to have to talk to.
"Hey," He felt someone touch the back of his head. He turned around to see B'Elanna there.
"How was bat'leth lessons?" Tom asked.
B'Elanna made a face. "Your son smells. You should probably talk to him." Tom nodded. B'Elanna looked over his shoulder. "What are you working on?"
"I'm going to write our story and I was thinking of what I'm going to need to do it. I think step one is talking with Janeway. I want the real story." Tom turned to face his wife. "I would have no problem interview you or knowing what I thought happen. I want facts."
"I think that you are right," B'Elanna said. "Janeway is your first stop." B'Elanna turned away from him. "Also, you are picking Miral up from the library later," Tom nodded.
"Remember that you need to talk to Xavier." Tom knew that B'Elanna was reminding him that he still had responsibilities right now.
The ensign looked at him and wondered how he got a meeting with Admiral Janeway. He wasn't in Starfleet uniform. Tom smiled; it has been a long time since he has been in any Starfleet uniform. He held on to the notes that he needed for persuade Janeway his way. He felt that she would be aboard for his idea.
The ensign smiled at Tom. "The admiral will see you now," They pointed to the office door.
Tom smiled at them before standing. He took a breath before making his way to the office. He opened the door to see Janeway behind her desk. She looked up at him and smiled. "Tom, how are you?" The captain waved a hand to one of the chairs in front of her desk. Tom took a seat.
"Good, how are you doing?" He asked.
"I couldn't be better," Janeway smiled. "How are B'Elanna and the kids?"
"They're good," Tom told her of Selena's winning the spelling bee and how she was going on to the next level, Xavier taking to his bat'leth training, and how Miral was doing in school. He talked about B'Elanna and how she is doing in teaching.
"And you Tom?" Janeway asked.
"I'm good. I'm working on my next project," Janeway raised an eyebrow to what his new project was. "I want to write the history about Voyager and to do that I need your help."
Kathryn smiled. "I like that idea. I don't know what to say about the last book wrote about us. That Chakotay and I had a secret relationship," Kathryn shook her head. Tom saw a glint in her eyes that had wondering. "It would have never happened. I was his captain." Tom wanted to scratch his head. "If I remember, you and B'Elanna had a different kind of start."
Tom smiled. "We did. I don't know if you read the stories about us getting together."
"Really," By the sound of her voice, Tom could tell that she wasn't shocked by that.
"Yeah, my wife thinks that you would kill me," Tom smiled. Kathryn shrugged her shoulders. Tom had a feeling that B'Elanna wasn't lying. "You would kill me and hid the body."
"Maybe," Kathryn smiled. Tom shook his head. "I sometimes wonder how B'Elanna puts up with you."
Tom placed a hand over his heart. "I'm hurt."
Kathryn laughed. "What can I do to help?"
Tom told her what he was going to need for him to write his story. Janeway smiled. She told him she would do what she could do. Tom smiled. He knew that all he was going to get from her. He left with a smile.
About a month later Tom had all he needed. He thanked Janeway before getting started. He told his punishers on what his next project was going to be, and they agreed with him. Tom spent months working on his story. He interviewed everyone he could that was on the ship. He didn't have a problem with the senior staff. He did calls to Vulcan and to other planets where some of the crewmembers lived. He got things in their words. He loved every moment of it until he was finished with it.
"What are doing?" He asked his wife one Saturday. The kids were with his sister, Sarah and her husband, Ben for the day and they were alone.
B'Elanna looked up from the book she was reading. "Reading."
"Can you take a moment to come to the holosuite?" Tom asked with a big smile.
"Sure," B'Elanna put her book down and followed Tom to the holosuite.
They stopped in front of the holosuite. Tom punched in a program. "Now, the first one is the historical story."
The doors opened and B'Elanna stepped on Voyager and knew in that moment that she was transported to the first time she stepped on the ship. She made her way around the ship to hear the story of Voyager. She saw how young she looked when she went to engineering. She made her way to the bridge and heard the story of every bridge officer. Tears fell on her cheek when she exited to holosuite.
"That was amazing," B'Elanna told her husband. Tom wiped a tear away and kissed her.
"Now let me the other story," Tom punched in a different code.
B'Elanna stepped in and the next thing she knew she was the captain of the ship. She had to make some tough decisions about things. She had everyone in her ear telling her what they should do. B'Elanna had to take a moment before making any decisions. Her mission was to get them home in seven years or less.
She stepped out of the holosuite. There was a smile on her face. "That was amazing."
Tom smiled. "Did you make in seven years?"
B'Elanna smiled. "No."
The success of the stories put Tom on another level, and everyone saw the stories, either the history or being apart of it. It went down as the true history of Voyager.
