One Year Later…
T'Pol stepped out of her shower and felt dizzy. She took a breath before putting on her uniform. She got dizzy while putting on her shoes. She was ready to take a seat on the office chair when she saw Tripp's project on. She didn't want to move it, so she turned to bed to see how much of a mess it was. She thought that she should make it, but she leaned over she felt sick to her stomach. She stood up and took a breath. Maybe she should go to sick bay before her shift on the bridge.
She ignored the bed and headed for the door. She made her way to the lift without feeling sick. As the lift moved, she felt like she was going vomit. She took a breath and was glad when the doors opened. She walked out and went to sickbay.
"What can I do for, Commander?" Phlox asked when he saw her enter.
She told him her symptoms as he led her to a bed. He gave a thoughtful look as he ran his tricorder over her.
A smile grew on his face. "Are you and Commander Tucker having a sexual relationship?"
T'Pol had to think what this had to do with what she is feeling. "What does it have to do what I'm feeling?"
"I have to say congratulations are in order," The doctor couldn't keep the smile out of his voice. "You and Commander Tucker are going to have a baby."
"How is that possible?" T'Pol asked.
"You as the ship's science officer you should know basic biology I assume."
"I don't see how that is relevant," T'Pol stated. "Vulcans and humans have tried for years to have a child. You yourself said that it would take time."
"I never said it was impossible, but something you and Commander Tucker have done found away. Now lay down on the bed so I can have a look at you," The doctor pulled out a machine as T'Pol laid down.
As T'Pol laid there she thought about how much has changed in the last year. Over the year Tripp had moved into her quarters. She didn't know how they made it work, they did. He was a gentleman for the first couple of months and it was her that turned to him in the middle of the night. It was too long since she felt his touch and she wanted it. Tripp liked to take her what he called dates. They would go to movie night in the mess hall and sit in the back, while they ate popcorn. One time he had turned his quarters into a small restaurant with candles. One of the crewmen rolled a cart into the room. They just sat there and ate a vegetarian dish while talking.
Over the year T'Pol had come to realize that it was okay to feel love towards this man. Tripp would make her happy through out the day, even when they were arguing about something about the ship. She could feel his love in the back of her head. When they were eating meals in the mess hall, Tripp would grab her hand from under the table. They kept their relationship a secret, but T'Pol had a feeling that everyone knew something was going on. They always seem to know where to find Tripp or her.
"It seems everything looks good, you are about seven weeks, but I would like to find out how this happen, so I'm going to need you and Mr. Tucker to see me tomorrow." Dr. Phlox said.
T'Pol sat up and nodded. She glanced at the clock to see if she had to go to engineering or not. She still had twenty minutes to be there. She left sickbay and went to lift. She took a breath; she was letting her emotions get to her. Her mother was right with saying that she kept her emotions to close to the top and it didn't help when she fell for a human. Tripp made her smile to herself as thought about how this happened.
T'Pol thought that it could have been when she called him back to their quarters. She was starting to feel heated, and she knew that she needed Tripp in that moment. She knew that he was in his office because he tried to spend the last hour of his shift doing some paperwork, so he didn't bring in back home with him. Or it could have been the next morning. Tripp was called to engineering in the middle of night and was got the rest of the night. When he came back home, he had found her in the shower before her shift on the bridge. Or there were plenty of times it could have happened.
T'Pol placed a hand on her still flat stomach. There was a baby in there. She didn't know how it happened, but she was happy, she had a feeling that Phlox would find out what happened. Tripp and she had talked about children and knew that if they wanted children in the future, they were going to have find way or adopt a child that needed a family. They were both okay with that.
T'Pol opened the door to engineering, her eyes trying to find Tripp. He was over at a station talking to two ensigns. Tripp knew right away when she entered the room. He looked up and smiled at her. He made his excuses to the two ensigns and made his way over to her.
"Commander," Tripp said. "What can I do for you?"
"Can we talk alone?" T'Pol asked. She saw the look in his eyes. "We don't have time," She said. They had used his office for sex before. Tripp nodded and led her to his office.
He closed the door behind him. He pulled her close before kissing her. She pulled out of his arms. "I have to be on the bridge in ten minutes," T'Pol patted his chest. "There is something I have to tell you," Tripp raised one eyebrow at her. "I'm pregnant."
There was a look of shock on his face. "How? I thought that Vulcans and humans couldn't have children."
"I did too. Phlox is going to try to find out what happen." T'Pol said.
A big smile spread on Tripp's face. "A baby," He leaned down and kissed her.
"I have to go," T'Pol said. She turned for the door.
"Tonight, we need to celebrate," Tripp said after her.
Tripp laid in bed and couldn't help the smile on his face spread. He looked at the woman sleeping next to him. He never thought that they would be here, having a baby. They only been together a year. They had healed each other with the death of their daughter. They had found happiness in each other. He loved her and he knew that she loved him in her way. They were happy and this was only going to make them happier.
"Stop smiling and go to sleep. We have an appointment with Dr. Phlox in the morning," T'Pol mumbled.
Tripp leaned closer to her. "We could celebrate some more," He ran a hand along her back.
"We have been celebrating most of the night," T'Pol grabbed his hand and pulled his arm around her. Tripp knew that it was time for bed. He kissed her cheek before settling down and closing his eyes.
The next morning, Tripp found himself in sickbay with the doctor and T'Pol. "I would like to check both of you out and check on the baby," Dr. Phlox said.
Tripp helped T'Pol in a bed before taking one himself. Dr. Phlox did a scan of Tripp before taking blood samples. Dr. Phlox did the same to T'Pol before having lean back to do tests on the baby. Tripp watched the screen to see how small his child was. He didn't know what to look for. "Where is the baby?" He asked the doctor.
Dr. Phlox pointed to a little white dot. "The next Tucker is right here." Tripp traded a look with T'Pol before looking at the baby again. "As you are seven weeks, I think the baby is here to stay, but I would like to see you every week from now to the birth. If you feel anything wrong even if it is little, I would like to see you right away." T'Pol nodded. Dr. Phlox talked to them about a healthy baby and what they could do to help. Dr. Phlox gave them a picture of the baby before they left.
"Commander Tucker and Commander T'Pol to sickbay," Tripp heard Dr. Phlox call them. Everyone in Engineering gave him a look as he left. He knew that T'Pol was in a meeting with Captain.
Tripp met up with T'Pol in front of Sickbay. They traded a look before entering. They found the doctor going over some scans before looking at them. There was questionable look on his face. "What were you doing two months ago?" He asked them.
Tripp had to think for moment but T'Pol already telling the doctor. "We were making first contact with the Ocae."
"What exactly did you do?" Dr. Phlox asked.
Tripp looked at T'Pol before saying. "We had dinner with the Prime Minister and stayed the night."
"Were you two together during the night?" Dr. Phlox asked before looking at the scans again.
"Yes," Tripp said. He thought that there weren't many nights that they weren't together. "Where are you going with this, Doctor?"
"It seems that someone made you compatible with your reproductive system. Did either of you leave the at some point?"
"No," T'Pol started. "We are connected, and we would know if the other leaves the room."
Tripp remembers that night. It felt nice and the windows were opened to the cool air of the night. It was nice to be in a real bed with T'Pol and not a bunk. There was something different about their love making that night. They felt freer for some reason. Afterwards they fell into a deep sleep. They woke in the morning refresh and alive.
"I see," The doctor said. "After hearing your story, I can assume they did something that night. Did you show that they you were in a sexual relationship?"
Tripp and T'Pol shook their heads. They always acted professional when they were working. "Not unless they could read minds," Tripp said.
"You did ask me where my room was," T'Pol started to pace. "Someone must have seen you sneak into my room." She crossed her arms and stared at her mate. "You can't spend one night alone."
Tripp crossed his arms too. "I'm sorry that after ten months I can't sleep without you by my side," Phlox saw a look in T'Pol's eyes that told him she couldn't sleep without Tripp either. "If I remember you enjoyed that night too." Phlox couldn't believe what he just saw. T'Pol's lips turned up in a small smile. Tripp uncrossed his arms and placed a hand on T'Pol's flat stomach. "That night got this little one," Phlox saw a sparkle in T'Pol's eyes. Tripp smiled because he was the only one who knew that look. "After this little one, we might be able to give them some siblings."
They broke eye contact and turned to Phlox like they remembered that he was in the room. "I would say that is a high possibility," Phlox didn't see a problem of them getting pregnant again with how their reproductive organs were compatible. Tripp closed his eyes and a smile appeared on his face. He must have sent the image to T'Pol because Phlox saw a small smile appear on her face. Phlox coughed to get the couple attention. "As I can see you are happy with this, but I need to talk to you about your baby."
Tripp reached down and grabbed T'Pol's hand. She didn't pull out of his hand as Phlox thought she would. Phlox and everyone on the ship knew that they were a couple, but they didn't show it in public. "Is something wrong with the baby?" Tripp asked.
Phlox could see them standing by the incubator watching their daughter die before their eyes. He had to reassure them that there only something minor with this baby. "There is a gene sequences that needs fixing, that baby would look more human, or they can look Vulcan."
"If we don't do this will the baby die?" Tripp asked.
"No, but things might not a line right, and it would need surgery for the rest of their lives," Phlox said. "It would be something that you have to do with each pregnancy you have."
Tripp and T'Pol looked at each other. Phlox knew that they were talking in their heads. He knew that there was a bond between them and knew when the other needed them. "Okay, how long will this take?" Tripp asked.
"It will only take five minutes and T'Pol will have to rest the rest of the night," Phlox gave the First Officer a look, like he would know if she didn't rest. Phlox also looked at Tripp and Tripp nodded. Phlox had a feeling that Tripp was going to play nurse tonight. "Okay, T'Pol get on the bed," Before either parent knew it, it was done.
Tripp took T'Pol back to their quarters and had her lay down on the bed. "I'll have them bring something for dinner," T'Pol nodded. She tired after the procedure.
"Tripp," T'Pol called out to him before he could call the kitchen. "I think that we should tell the captain about the baby," Tripp watched her close her eyes and fall asleep. Tripp called the kitchen and settle a blanket on his sleeping girlfriend.
