"When was the last time you spent any alone time with your wife?" Megan asked her son.
Tripp looked up from feeding Charlie. T'Pol was in the shower of the guest bedroom, where Tripp and she were staying. Tripp had gotten a room at a hotel for them, but his mother insisted that they stay with them. Tripp and T'Pol thought that it was a good idea because it meant that Charlie would get to know his grandparents more. They wanted Charlie to have a good relationship with his grandparents because if something happen to Tripp and T'Pol Charlie was going to his grandparents.
Tripp had to think about the last time that T'Pol and he spent time alone. It was hard with working on a ship and raising Charlie. It wasn't like they haven't had sex in recent time. It was usually quick because they didn't know if Charlie was going to wake, or they were going to be attacked in the middle of night.
"I can see the smoke coming out of your ears," Megan wiped her hands on a towel. "It has been a while."
"Mom," Tripp moaned. He could feel his face heating up.
Megan waved him away. "You should take your wife away and show her why you fell in love and why you gave her your grandmother's ring."
"Mom, what about Charlie?" Tripp looked at his son.
"Your father and I can watch him for a week," Megan looked lovely at her grandson before looking back at her son. "Take your wife to cabin in the mountains or house on a coast. Reconnect. I see the way that you two look at each other. Also, I want more grandchildren."
Tripp smiled. "Mom, Jack is about to have his first."
"I know, but I had four children and only have four grandchildren," Tripp watched his mom's eyes grow dark as she thought about her youngest daughter that was gone from them. Tripp reached over and took her hand.
"Mom, if it wasn't for Elizabeth death, Charlie wouldn't be here," Tripp looked at his son to see Charlie had banana all over his face.
Megan wiped her face. "I know and grateful that she brought you and T'Pol together. But you still need to have more children. Charlie can't be an only child there is no one else like him." Tripp nodded. He knew what his mother was saying. As far Tripp knew Charlie was the only child of Vulcan and Earth to live so far.
Tripp sighed. "Alright I will take T'Pol away for a week and we will talk about trying for another baby. You might have to prepare yourself that Charlie might be your only grandchild from us."
Megan rolled her eyes. "If I remember you told me that T'Pol could have more when the time is right."
"Yes, that was before we entered a war with the Romulans." Tripp picked Charlie up to clean off the banana of his face before T'Pol came in the room.
"Don't let that stop you from growing your family," Megan took her grandson away from his father. She took him to the sink to wash his face. "Take your wife away and relax like there isn't a war going on or you are raising a wonderful son." Megan smiled at the clean face of Charlie. Charlie smiled back at his grandmother. "I'm going to give you some advice that my parents gave me after I had your sister. You are husband and wife first than mother and father," Tripp opened his mouth to say something when Megan shook her head at him. "Don't give me an excuse why it is hard to do. T'Pol is your wife, and you are her husband. You need to remember that."
Tripp threw his arms up. "Alright. I'll take my wife away for a week."
Megan smiled. "When you get back, we'll have a family dinner before you leave for your ship." Tripp tried to argue but his mother wouldn't let him. "You are going to need this because I don't know when you will see us again." Tripp had a feeling it was more for his mother because she didn't know when the next time that she was going to see him.
"Okay," Tripp looked up to see that T'Pol had entered the kitchen. Charlie wanted his mother. T'Pol took him and sat at the kitchen table. Charlie got up to get T'Pol some breakfast. He passed his mother. "Don't say a word to T'Pol about our little trip. I want to surprise her." Tripp saw his mother smile in agreement.
"Tripp, you only tell me to pack, but don't tell me where we are going," T'Pol at the bed in the guest room where Tripp, Charlie, and she were staying while with his parents. T'Pol crossed her arms and glared at her husband.
Tripp leaned over and kissed her. "Anything," He looked over to see Charlie on the bed, playing with some toy that his grandmother got for him. He leaned closer to her ear. "I don't see you wearing a lot once we are there."
"Tripp," T'Pol glanced at their son. "What about Charlie?"
"He is going to stay here with my parents. Just us for a week," Tripp ran his hand along her arm. He felt her trembled. He smiled. He knew that T'Pol liked the idea. It has been while that it has just been the two of them. "You could just pack a robe," Tripp suggested. T'Pol shook her head as she turned away from him. Tripp closed his own bag and picked up Charlie. "The transporter will be here in an hour, so be ready. He kissed her cheek before leaving the room.
T'Pol sighed. She was spending too much time with humans. It didn't help that she was married to one and raising a half human, half Vulcan child. She packed just basics before leaving the room. She wanted to make sure that Megan and Chuck were okay with watching Charlie while they were gone. This was going to be the longest she was away from Charlie.
She placed her bag next Tripp's at the front door before making her way to the kitchen where the rest of the family was. Charlie was in the arms of his grandfather, laughing. Megan was watching them with so much love. Tripp was telling his parents about Charlie routine.
Megan waved away her son's concern. "Your father and I raised four children; we can take care of Charlie for a week. You and your wife go and have fun and not worry about your son."
"Four, can be," Tripp started before Megan cut him off.
"Stop calling your son, Four. You are going to confuse him," Megan reached over hit Tripp on the arm with a towel.
"You sound like my wife," Tripp mumbled.
"Good, your wife is smart woman. I still trying to figure out why she fell for you," Megan smiled at T'Pol.
Tripp saw where his mother was looking and smiled at T'Pol. "She fell for my charm."
Megan rolled her eyes. "That must be it," She mumbled to herself. She turned away from Tripp to T'Pol. "Enjoy yourselves on this trip. It's just what the doctor ordered."
"Thank you, Mrs. Tucker,"
"T'Pol, how many times to I must tell you to call me Megan. You are Mrs. Tucker, too." Megan gave T'Pol a look.
"Sorry," T'Pol said.
"Get out and leave us with our grandson," Megan pulled Tripp out of his chair and pushed him towards T'Pol. Tripp tried to make his way back to say goodbye to Charlie, but Megan stopped him. "Out."
Tripp sighed, took T'Pol's hand, and led her out of the room. Tripp stopped by the door and picked up their bags. "Does she know that we still have twenty minutes to wait?" Tripp asked as the stood waiting for the transporter. T'Pol didn't say a word and held on to Tripp's hand.
They didn't have to wait long before the transporter was there. Tripp helped her in before climbing in next to her. The transporter flew for an hour before stopping in front small cabin. Tripp thanked the man before climbing out and helping T'Pol out of the transporter. They stood there as the transporter flew away.
T'Pol crossed her arms. "This place is cold," Tripp smiled before turning her towards the cabin.
"I can think of several ways to keep you warm," He led her in the cabin.
The cabin was single room. There was a bed in the left corner, there was a step to the bed. There was a sitting area on the right with a fireplace in front of it. There was a little kitchen next to the sitting area with a table for two. On the other side of the cabin were a set of doors that looked out on the mountains.
"This place is beautiful," T'Pol placed her bag on bench in front of the bed.
Tripp set his bag next to hers before wrapping his arms around her. "You're beautiful," He kissed the back of her neck.
T'Pol let out a moan. "What do you have planned, Mr. Tucker."
Tripp loved when she let go. It has been a while since she had let go. "This, Mrs. Tucker," He kissed just behind her ear before he started to unbutton her blouse.
T'Pol woke in Tripp's arms. She looked up in Tripp's face to see that he was still sleeping. He looked young and innocent. His beard was coming in. T'Pol reached up to trace his face when he let out a snore and his arms pulled her closer than she was before. T'Pol knew that he was awake. She folded her hands on his stomach and placed her head on them. She looked right at him. "What are you going to feed me?" She asked.
"Shhh," Tripp didn't open his eyes. "I'm trying to sleep."
"Tripp, I know that you are up, and we didn't eat because we spent most of the night in this bed," She tried to move out of his arms, but he wouldn't allow it.
"I was worshiping you," Tripp mumbled.
"I'm going to need food if you want to keep worshiping me," T'Pol tried to get up again.
Tripp let her go and got out of the bed, naked. T'Pol sat back and watched him hide his clothes to put on. He made his way to the kitchen. "You're evil," Tripp yelled at her.
T'Pol just struggled into the blanket and watched her husband make them breakfast. Tripp brought her breakfast in bed. He sat next to her and ate off her plate. She raised an eyebrow at him for what he did. He just leaned over and kissed her.
When they had their full, Tripp moved the tray off the bed and pushed the blanket down. "I think I need to worship again," He whispered in her ear.
T'Pol sighed and settled in the bed as Tripp's hands found their way to her body.
A few days later, T'Pol was sitting on the couch with a book that she brought. T'Pol felt how sore she was. Over the last few days, they barely left each other's arms. They had made love in front of a fire, in the shower, and mostly in the bed. T'Pol had told him that she needed a moment to herself, and Tripp agreed. He went for hike while she brought out a book to read. He had the fire going before he left.
T'Pol had a blanket thrown over her when Tripp came back in. She looked up at him before going back to her book. She heard him take off his outerwear and making his way over to her. He pulled the blanket back, sat on the couch, and pulled her feet on his lap. He started to massage her feet. He did that a lot when she was pregnant with Charlie.
"T'Pol, I want to talk to you about something," Tripp looked in the fire.
T'Pol set her book and looked at her husband. "What?" She asked.
"About us having another baby," Tripp stared in her face.
"Tripp," T'Pol closed her eyes. "We are in the middle of war."
"I know," Tripp continued rubbing her feet.
"Maybe when the war is over," T'Pol reached for her book again.
"When will that be?" Tripp asked. "I feel like there is no end in sight." T'Pol opened her mouth to say something but nothing came out. She knew that he was right. Neither one knew when the war was going to end. They have been at war for almost two years. Neither the Romulans nor the Alliance were giving up. "I do want to give Charlie some siblings before it's too late." Tripp was also right about that. They didn't know how long they were going to be compatible.
"It could be while before I get pregnant," T'Pol said.
"I know."
"I could never get pregnant again."
"I know, but I would like to try," Tripp whispered. "We could have a little girl," He leaned closer to her. "You won't be so outnumbered." He placed a hand on her stomach.
He knew that he had her when she placed a hand over his hand. "Alright." Tripp kissed her and pulled her book out of her hands.
"I think we need to start trying right now," Tripp mumbled against her lips. He felt her lips curved a little as he kissed her.
They packed their bags with a little bit of sadness because they were going to miss this quiet time with each other. They did miss their son and were glad to be seeing him again. They just weren't ready to get back on the ship and be Commander T'Pol and Commander Tucker. They wondered if this would this be life if there wasn't a war going on and them living a ship.
Tripp kissed the side of her head before the transporter landed in front of them. Tripp helped her on before getting on himself. They went back to his parents' house happy because they were trying for another baby. They both knew that it was going to be hard, but it was something that they wanted. Tripp knew that it was too early for them to be pregnant, but he could hope.
The transporter landed in front of his parents' driveway. As he was helping T'Pol out he could see his parents coming out of the house with Charlie. He also saw his brother come out with his wife and his grandmother come out with her nurse. He didn't see his sister or her family. Tripp knew that they might not be able to come.
Tripp and T'Pol made their way up the driveway with their bags. They were halfway up the driveway when Chuck let Charlie down to ran to his parents.
"Mama," Charlie screamed as he raced for T'Pol's arms. T'Pol handed her bag to Tripp before picking up the running the child. Charlie wrapped his arms around T'Pol.
The family made their way to the house and hugged them before stepping in the house. Tripp set their bags in the guest room before heading to the living room where the rest of the family was. Tripp was ready to ask if Diana was coming when the door opened, and his nephew and niece made their way in front of their parents. Tripp was glad when that they could make it.
The table was overflowing with food as the family sat down to eat. The talk came easy and loud. Tripp knew that he was going to miss this when they left. They talked about when they were leaving in the morning because they had to be at Starfleet to be on the shuttle that would take them to Enterprise. The family said that they were going to miss them and hoped for the best for them. The evening ended with them sitting around the living room, playing a game with laughter.
Tripp woke early the next morning and watched his wife sleeping for a moment before getting up and showering. They were going home and that brought a smile to his face. When he got out of the shower T'Pol was up and packing the rest of their things. Tripp wrapped an arm around her waist. "Are you ready to go home?" He asked.
"Yes," T'Pol broke out of his arms and headed for the bathroom.
Tripp headed for the kitchen to find his mother and son sitting at the table. Tripp had glanced in the living room to see his niece and nephew sleeping on the floor. His sister and her family had stayed the night too. They said goodbye to his brother, sister-in-law, and grandmother last night before they went home.
T'Pol soon followed him in the kitchen with his sister, father, and brother-in-law. They had a nice breakfast before the transporters came for both families. Tripp watched his sister and her family get on their transporter before getting on his transporter with his family. He was ready to get home.
Tripp didn't realize when the ship started to feel like home, but it was. It was where they had Charlie and had a life with friends and work. Tripp closed his eyes to sleep because it was going to be a couple of hours to get to San Francisco that he didn't notice the transporter landing in field in the middle of nowhere.
"Come on out, Commander Tucker," Tripp woke to see phaser in his face.
