One late night in Gotham, Selina had a very important job to hit. Unfortunately, the job had some snags in it, and she had to fight her way out of the building with the loot that she had taken. She eventually made it to her apartment, but not through the doorway, but rather the window to her bedroom. The noise and commotion woke Harley up, and then prompted her to check out the situation.
Harley approached Selina's bedroom, slowly opening the door to see a figure within the darkness. She immediately hit the light to reveal that it was Selina standing where the figure was.

"You scared the shit outta me, 'Lina." Harley let out.

Selina took her mask off, taking a few deep breaths before lunging the case that she was carrying over her shoulder, onto her bed. "Sorry..." she said while sitting down at the edge of her bed. "I got hit pretty good, Harley." whispered Selina as she unzips her jacket, carefully sliding it off her to reveal a gash in her shoulder area.

Harley saw the pain in Selina's eyes when she was doing that, and it scared her. "W-What can I do to help?" she asked as she moved closer to the older woman. "I don't know too much about stitching, I'm more of a psychological person."

"Yeah" Selina leans back in her chair. "In my bathroom, there's a cabinet that has a jar full of bonding cream, grab that and bring it here." she asked, wincing in pain.

Harley nodded, went to the bathroom, and took notice of two different cabinets. "Coulda told me which one..." she whispers to herself. Harley opened one of the cabinets, carefully looking through each shelf on there to see if the jar was sitting somewhere. It wasn't, so she moved to the other cabinet. She eventually found it, and upon pulling the jar, a picture fell onto the counter. Harley used her free hand to pick the picture up to see a man. "Huh…" she mutters to herself before walking out of the bathroom with the jar and the picture.

Selina was doing her breathing technique to try and ease the pain in her shoulder. She takes notice of Harley walking out, with two things in her hand, her she keeps her gaze on the picture as Harley approached her. "Di-Did you find the jar?" she asks.

"Yeah, I found it." Harley sets the piece of paper on the desk next to Selina, then opens the jar. "Do I just put it on there?" she asks, Selina nods. Harley carefully straddles Selina's lap, dropping some of the liquid in her hand, and then caresses Selina's shoulder with it. "Not the appropriate time to admire your friend's body, Quinn!" she gulps, keeping her focus on helping Selina.

Selina bit the inside of her lip as she watched Harley do this, she felt her wound sealing up which was good, but she also felt Harley put some pressure on her arm in a very specific way. "I think you can feel that they're not just for show." She jokes which makes Harley jump a bit.

Harley stood up, face red from her action. "I didn't… I…." she stammers.

"It's okay, Harley." Selina assures her. "Next time let me flex, then you can touch." She continues to joke as she subtly moves the picture with the intent of keeping it out of Harley's line of sight.

"Say, who was that, by the way?" Harley asks. "The guy in your picture, he kinda looks familiar." she points out, furrowing her brows.

Selina kept quiet for a few seconds, looked down and took a deep breath. "That was… My cousin." She said before looking back at Harley. "He passed away about 20 years ago."

Hearing Selina's voice made Harley feel low, like she was invasive on Selina's private life. "I'm so sorry, 'Lina." She says.

"Don't." Selina stood up, reaching to caress Harley's shoulder. "Thank you for helping with my shoulder." She smiles.

Harley kept quiet, her gaze away from the woman before her, only nodding in response to Selina. "Good job, Quinn…" she thought to herself.

Selina gently placed her index finger under Harley's chin, slowly, and carefully pushing up to have Harley look at her. She then placed a soft kiss on the blonde's forehead. "I promise, I'm not mad at you for being curious." She started off. "Maybe… I can tell you more about my family history, when I didn't just get my ass kicked."

The smaller woman blushes at the action from Selina, she doesn't mind it, but she also never gets used to it when it happens. Harley nods a couple times, looking up at Selina. "Can we… Watch a movie tonight?" she asks.

A smile forms on Selina's face. "Of course, kitten." Selina answers. "Lemme get cleaned up, you pick the movie, and we'll cheat on our diet tonight." She winks before leaving to go take her shower.

Harley watched as Selina walked away, this time… She was observing rather closely than normal. Ever since the breakup between her and Joker, Harley has had more of a chance to look at people as a "normal" person so-to-speak. Her views have been shifted so much, and it's done her well since she moved in with Selina.
Pamela might have offered Harley a quick release or two, but Selina had been giving Harley what she needed throughout this time on her own, clarity. Harley has it all, and though she feels like she didn't deserve it, she's very appreciative over the second chance that she's gotten.
Harley eventually snapped out of her trance, left to the living room to go through the rather extensive movie collection that Selina has.

Elsewhere in Gotham…

While crime of various kinds happens throughout the city, one gang of people were having a day off from crime to relax and lay low for a little bit. That gang belonged to Joker, and most of the henchmen parted off to do their own thing throughout the city. Joker on the other hand…
Joker decided they were overdue for some relief, after weeks of causing chaos whilst avoiding a specific shadow-y figure, so they decided to call up a friend for a good time. After what seemed like an hour or so of Joker giving their friend a good time, it was the friend's turn to satisfy Joker.

"Alright babe, let mama devour you real nice…" The woman says with a smirk on her face as she scales down Joker's body, placing kisses on Joker's body.

Joker observed the woman, biting down on their lip. As much as they would love to be taken care of down there, something in them just screamed that they were spent. "Say, Trina?" they call out quietly.

"Hmm?"

"Could we just… Stick to making out for a little bit?" Joker asks. "My body just feels tired, and I could use a bit of a pick me up."

Trina sat up on her knees, looking at Joker with a raised brow. "Well, I can't say you never offer anything new to the bed." She starts off. "Usually, my hair would be getting tugged on." She continues before moving closer to Joker again, placing her lips against theirs. "You okay there, honey?"

Joker closed their eyes for a couple seconds, taking a deep breath. "I'm fine, exhausted from my usual romp throughout Gotham, that's all." They say with a slight smirk. "A good session with those lips of yours, and I'll go more rounds than the damn race." Joker chuckles and leans in with the intention of kissing Trina. Right before a kiss could happen, Joker moves back to cough in their arm, this time it was a hard cough with more blood coming out than before. "F-Fuck…"

Trina moved off of Joker, looking rather concerned. "Okay, that's a bit of a buzzkill right there." She says. "I'm layin' it out now, what's really going on with you?"

Joker moved to the edge of the bed, reaching for a box of napkins sitting on the nightstand. "I… I don't know." They respond before wiping the blood from their mouth. "Energy… I have none for much of anything, not without that poison that I've been taking." They get up from the bed and walks towards the window on the other side of the room, taking deep breaths. Joker sees the vials and syringes set up on the windowsill.

Trina got up from the bed, walked over to Joker, and wrapped her arms around their body. She then traces her hands up Joker's body, noticing the sunken-in stomach, their ribcage being more pronounced. "Last time we were like this, you definitely had more mass on you, Sugar." she says quietly. "At least these are somewhat intact." Trina smirked and gripped on Joker's breasts.

"Shit." Joker jumped a bit then softly chuckled. "You think I need help, don't you?"

"Does a bear shit in the woods?" Trina asks.

Joker nods a couple times then carefully pulls from Trina's grip. "I think I might know someone who can help." They say before walking over to the pile of clothes sitting by the door. "Forgive me for not being my usual self, Trina." Joker picks up their clothes.

"Am I gonna see you again, Joker?" Trina leans against the wall beside the window.

Silence filled the room as Joker got their clothes back on, unsure of how they could answer the question in a way that's hopeful for Trina. "Probably not in the way you'd appreciate." They answer as honest as they could. "You know my line of work, I'll either end up in hiding, arrested again, or in a box." Joker pulls the strap on their belt to keep their pants secure. "Life of a criminal." They walk towards Trina, reaching past her to grab the vials and syringes.

Trina doesn't look at Joker, feeling a little defeated. "And apparent junkie…" she mutters to herself.

The muttering was still loud enough for Joker to hear. If it were anyone else, Joker would have handled them like it was no big deal. Trina's always been different to Joker, and they couldn't explain how. Joker only responds with a soft kiss on the side of Trina's lips before moving away to throw their jacket on, and then exits the room.

Early the next morning…

Harley was sleeping in her bed after a night of binge-watching one of Selina's favorite film series. The blonde got to see a side of Selina that she didn't know existed, a child-like side that was rather endearing to witness. Selina knew everything about the film series, to the point where she could talk about what they had in catering.
In her sleep, Harley tried to turn her body away from the sunlight beaming through the window, but her lower half wasn't turning. Her breathing started to get a little fast, as her dreams started to turn grim, with flashes of Joker appearing before her. Her eyes opened to see a young girl sitting crisscross on her lap, she gulps at the sight, unsure of what exactly is going on.

"Wh-who are you?" Harley asks.

The girl was chewing gum, playing a game on her phone when Harley asked the question. "Ya know, you talk in your sleep." She says then takes a glance at Harley, blowing a bubble with her gum. "Who's Red?"

Harley's face went crimson, feeling offended, embarrassed, anything that wasn't dignified. "Selina!" she calls out. "Who is this brat!?"

Selina approached the door of Harley's room to see the young woman. "Barb, what the hell?" she asks. "Get off my roommate, you're supposed to be working on your schoolwork." Selina says and folds her arms.

The young woman gave Selina a small pout before crawling off Harley. "I was just curious about the noise." She mumbles as she walks past Selina.

"Sorry about that, shoulda mentioned that I look after the Commish's kid every so often." Selina observes the young woman as she goes to the island in the kitchen, sits on the barstool at goes to her homework. "She's a good kid though."

Harley slowly moved to the edge of her bed, rubbing the sleepiness from her eyes. "S'okay, but I won't be nice next time." She says and follows it up with a yawn. "Wait a sec…" Harley's eyes widen and then she scrambles to Selina with a serious expression. "The Commish's kid?" she asks, Selina nods. "Commish as in James Gordon?"

"Yeah?"

"We have the daughter of the One-time, Fuzz, Bacon Brigade, 12, Porky in our apartment?" Harley emphasizes with hand gestures as she's asking this question.

Selina just looks at Harley with a smirk on her face, she then leans against the door frame and laughs. "Harley, on a culture perspective I appreciate your concern." She starts off. "I don't need to worry because not only did I save that kid's life, but James and I are acquaintances because of the line of work I'm in." she continues. "You don't need to worry because you've been here long enough that any stink Joker left on you, is long gone, and you definitely don't look like the woman that used to be on the wanted posters."

Harley moves slightly closer to Selina, points towards the woman, taking a deep breath, and then she scans the attire that the older woman is wearing. "Holy shit, you're leaving nothing to the imagination" she thinks, feeling slightly flustered at the sight of Selina's stomach. Harley gulps, looking back into Selina's eyes. "One of these days you're not gonna have your 120-pack abs showin' off when we have a discussion, so I don't lose my train of thought." She says. "And when that happens, ya getting' a mouthful."

Selina pushed her tongue against her cheek, doing her best not to laugh at Harley being flustered. "Well." She bites the corner of her lip, struggling to keep a straight face. "Are you offering to give me your mouthful there, Quinn?" Selina raises her eyebrows, snickering when Harley gasps.

"Shut up." Harley pouts and lightly smacks Selina's stomach, shaking her hand due to that not going to plan. "Geez, you could break diamond with these abs." that just gets another laugh from Selina. "If ya got time to laugh at me, you got time to make me coffee." She demands whilst keeping a pout.

"Okay Kitten, I'll spoil you." Selina says and then blows a kiss at her before walking away, keeping her chuckle going. "So, Barbara, now that you met my roommate, gonna set some ground rules." She says while approaching the coffee machine. "Don't go into her room without her permission, that's a dick move." She starts off. "Two and most importantly, if you're here, you gotta be focused on your schoolwork." She finishes. "Understood?"

Barbara nods. "My bad, Sel." She says casually. "Make me a cup too?" Barbara bites her lower lip, including a smile with her expression.

Selina rolls her eyes. "Kids…" she mutters to herself and goes to work on cups of coffee for the three of them. In the midst of doing so, she noticed Harley approaching the kitchen, wearing a pair of shorts and one of Selina's musician shirts. "Look at you, that's one of my favorite bands you're wearing." She compliments. "Take good care of that shirt." Selina slides the cup down the counter towards where Harley stood.

"Faith No More's a band?" Harley asks, taking a quick glance at the shirt she has on. "I was thinkin' that there was a deep meaning behind this." She says before taking a sip of the coffee that Selina made her.

"Uh-oh, Selina's gonna start feelin' old now." Barbara quips.

Selina glares at Barbara. "And a little girl's gonna lose her coffee, zip it." She hands Barbara her coffee then walks to Harley. "Say Harley, I wanted talk to ya a little more." Selina says as she leans against the counter. "I may have gotten you a job interview."

Harley was nervous that talks of a job would come up eventually, especially since the one thing that could get her a job, she can't utilize anymore due to her license getting revoked for relations with Joker while they were detained. She took another sip of her coffee, trying to think of what to say. "Wh-where?" she asks.

"You know the coffee shop that you and I go to?" Selina asks, Harley nods. "I got you an interview with the owner there, and he wants to hear from you at some point this week."

"A coffee shop?" Harley raises a brow. "You… Think that's a good idea?" she asks. "Would I even be able to make enough to help out around here?"

"You'll do fine." Selina says with confidence. "It's where I got my start, and where I fell in love with the community here." She continues then reaches in her pocket to pull out a business card. "His number's on here, give him a call whenever you're not drinking coffee or idolizing perfection." Selina raises up, winks at Harley and goes to sit by Barbara to help with her schoolwork.

Harley wanted to stammer and would have if she hadn't noticed how Selina approached Barbara. There was something about the expression on both their faces that seemed… Calming, or familiar. She stood there and observed how Selina would talk to Barbara, and how Barbara's face would light up when she got a question correct on her work. Mentally, it took Harley back to when she was a kid, working hard at school while her mom worked hard at her job, and the connection they shared whenever Harley would come home with straight A's. She sighs then takes the business card and cup of coffee with her to her room so she can contact the number on the card.

A Couple Hours Later…

Harley approached the coffee shop, dressed up as nicely as she could for the interview. She was shocked that the owner wanted to meet her immediately, and he also came off as extremely approachable on the phone.
She walks in, and heads for the counter. This is her first outing by herself in a long time, and she's taking this progress in stride. With a smile on her face, she leans in at the counter.
"Excuse me?" she calls out.

The barista glanced over at Harley, and then approached the counter. "Welcome to The Den, how can I help ya?" she asks.

"Yeah, I got an interview with the boss?" Harley says somewhat nervously.

The barista leaned back, looking towards the back of the service counter. "Yo, Hawka'!" she calls out. "This one yours?" she asks.

"Yeah, send her my way!" a man's voice says aloud.

"Go ahead."

"Thanks…" Harley walks towards the back of the service counter, passes the gate, and then goes through the taller doors to enter what looks to be a storage closet/office. She sees a man with long brown hair, playing some kind of gaming device. Harley clears her throat which gets the attention of said man. "Are you Hawker?" she asks.

"Yes, ma'am." He responds, setting his game down to stand up. "Nice to meet ya, I take it you're… Harley?" he asks and reaches his hand out.

Harley nods and reaches her hand to shake Hawker's. "Nice to meet ya too, Selina sung your praises." She said.

Hawker smiles and then sits down. "Funny thing, Selina also sung your praises." He laughs. "So, from what you see, we make coffee, obviously." He starts off, using his hands to emphasize his words, very similar to how Harley likes to. "However, Selina didn't mention what we really do, did she?"

"N-No?"

"We're a Robin Hood organization, we take from the rich and dirty, we launder what we take, and give it to the community on a commission basis." Hawker explains. "The money we make doing this, goes directly to the workers, and to pay for this coffee shop." He further explains. "Anything that gets left over goes back to the community, and we rinse and repeat."

Harley sat down while Hawker explained everything, taking in the concept of a "Robin Hood" business. "So, other than it being a front, what's the whole point in the coffee shop?"

"Honestly, that's so I can at least generate a little bit of income towards myself because I'm not making anything off of the organization." Hawker states as bluntly as possible. "Though it's not out of greed, just survival." He says. "Most of what I make on the coffee shop part of things, goes to keep the lights on in my house, food on my table, and what's left over, like with the organization, goes to help out the community."

The blonde nods slowly. "Okay… Makes sense."

Hawker sat up some, leaning towards Harley's direction. "Now, I got four crews that work on rotation, two mornings, two nights, with seldom overlap." He says. "What's your preference for a shift?"

Harley took a moment to think about this, she was always a night owl if anything. "I guess a night shift." She answers.

"Okay…" Hawker taps on his desk a couple times to show a hologram display, which shows the schedule and the shift rotations. "I can put you on Pink shift, that'll allow you to come in during the evening, and work until at least 3am." He says while continuing to sort through the roster. "I'll need a navigation person, so you wouldn't be doing any jobs, you'll be directing traffic essentially."

Harley raised her brows at the idea, it was almost up her alley. "I'd love that." She says.

"Good." Hawker smiles then continues to tap away at the keyboard display on his desk. "Now, you will need training, not just as part of the organization, but as an employee of the coffee shop." He mentions. "You'll have a day or two where you need to service customers, but I'll make sure to have someone scheduled with you so there's no unnecessary burden on either of you." He keeps his focus on the display, making sure everything is in order. "Any questions so far?"

Harley shook her head. "Other than when can I start?"

Hawker laughs once more. "How's next week sound?"

"Perfect."

Hawker stood with a confident smile. "Awesome, come with me so we can take a tour of the communication center, introduce you to your coworkers, sign some paperwork, and get you outta here." He walks over to one of the cabinets, opens it to reveal a corridor that has directional markings.

Harley's eyes widened at the sight of the corridor. "Holy shit" she whispers to herself before standing up and following Hawker.

Evening time…

While Harley was getting her new job set up, Selina and Barbara continued the schoolwork. Once they were done, they went out for a walk around the neighborhood saying their hellos to people, and helping where they could. They eventually made their way back to the apartment, Barbara was hungry, and Harley was probably on her way back, so Selina decided to make a nice little feast for the three of them. The night called for steak fajitas.
Barbara helped Selina cut up the meat and veggies, having small talk during the process. Barbara mentioned that James is more than likely doing a late shift, and won't be back at their home until the morning. Selina made a comment about how James should have said something to her, so she could have him give her money. Of course, that comment was out of jest, but she would've liked to have known in advance.
Harley had a great time with learning the ropes of how "The Den" operates, and couldn't wait to tell Selina the good news. As she approached the door to the apartment, she got a whiff of what was being cooked in the kitchen. When she opens the door, she sees Selina and Barbara hard at work making dinner.

"Honey, I'm home!" Harley announces.

Selina glanced over at Harley, gave her a smile. "Hey, Kitten." She greets. "How'd it go?" she asks.

Harley closed the door behind her, walked over to where Selina was, her body shaking with excitement. "I start next week, 'Lina." she says shyly. "I got the gig."

"Congratulations!" Selina placed the lid over the pan that has the veggies in it so she can turn around and embrace her roommate. "I'm so damn proud of you, sweetie."

The blonde wrapped her arms around Selina's neck, taking a few deep, shaky breaths as a few tears fall. Few times in Harley's life was she ever told that anyone was proud of her, even less during her time with Joker. To her, those words were amplified straight to her heart. If the kid wasn't there, she'd probably be having herself a loud cry, because of how much Selina has provided, and allowed Harley to be in the position to prove herself. Harley tightens her grip, not wanting to let go of Selina any time soon.

Selina can hear the vibrations of Harley shaking, her breathing, she can tell that the weight is gradually coming off of this woman's shoulders. Selina gently rocked the two of them, having one hand draw circles against Harley's back in hopes that it soothes her. "You deserve this, Harley… Don't let anyone tell you otherwise." She whispers.

Barbara notices Selina and Harley hugging for a while, she was going to interrupt but knew that it'd be rude unless there was a reason. So, she tries to work around the two but takes notice of the veggies in the pan. "Hey, I'm gonna try to sneak by you two if that's okay." She whispers towards them which causes Harley and Selina to part from one another.

"S-Sorry, Barbs." Harley says and wipes her eyes. "I'm gonna go change out of these clothes, 'kay?" She looks at Selina who gives her an approving nod. Harley smiles and walks out of the kitchen to go to her room.

Selina cut the heat off the pan, then walked over to the cupboards to grab plates for everyone. "Hey, kiddo, go ahead and pick a show for us to watch tonight. I'll get everything plated out." She says and Barbara leaves the kitchen to do what Selina told her.

The trio enjoyed their homemade fajitas, and eventually had a Selina-approved dessert of sorts to compliment the dish along with capping off a good day. Barbara was the first of the three to fall asleep, so Selina lowered the volume on the TV, got off the couch and covered the young woman up so she can sleep comfortably. Selina then grabbed all the dishes, taking them to the kitchen sink, and decided that they can be done the next day.
Harley on the other hand, walked towards her room as she was rather tired from the day she had. Before she walked all the way into her room though…

"Kitten?" Selina calls out which stops Harley in her tracks.

"Yeah?"

Selina walks over to Harley, hooking her arms around the woman's body. Harley's face lit up from this action, she didn't quite know how to react, but she wasn't opposed to Selina giving her this hug as she returned it.

"Wh-What's this for?" Harley asks quietly.

"No reason… Just something inside me said that you needed another hug." Selina pulls back some to get a look at Harley's face. "Like I said earlier… I'm so proud of you, and you deserve this." She whispers.

Tears started to form in Harley's eyes once more, she has yet to be used to the kindness that Selina has offered her the past few months, and the kindness that Selina continues to offer. Is this what normal feels like? Harley wonders as she gazes into Selina's calming brown eyes. "Thank you, 'Lina… For everything." she says, resting her hands against Selina's shoulders. "I-I promise I will do what I can to repay you for what you've done for me." Harley sniffs, feeling a cry coming along again. Before Selina could respond, Harley stood on her tiptoes, and placed a soft kiss in a spot between the corner of Selina's lips and her cheek. She then pulls away, her face almost pink. "Good night." She smiles and turns to go to her room.

Selina stood there for a few seconds; her face warm from what Harley had just done. "Yeah… Good night." She says to herself before walking back to the living area, sitting on one of the empty couches. Her mind is running through everything that could've led to that point, and whether Selina was meant to follow Harley after that. She's never been this confused about any gestures, and yet with Harley… Things felt different.
"Nah, Quinn wouldn't dig someone like me." Selina scoffs, chuckling to herself before getting comfortable on the couch, watching TV until her eyes give into her slumber.

A/N: It took long enough, but I finally did it! I got a fourth chapter of a story I was working on, and surprisingly it ended up being my longest chapter. I wanted to pack as much slice of life content in this one as I could, and make it slightly wholesome for out favorite Blonde.

I hope y'all enjoy, do that thing I love, and I'll try not to take forever with Chapter 5
