Whether or not this merging of Quincy powers would work, he was willing to try. It was only a theory, after all. For he might have been a Quincy; those powers were from the manifestation, which Zangetsu was keeping in check. Silas, by no means, could get rid of the manifestation. It was a part of him. If it failed, he'd have no problem relying solely on Zangetsu's already overwhelming Hollow powers.
Uryū had always been suspicious of Silas's foreknowledge. The only conclusion he could draw was that Silas was, in fact, a Quincy. Otherwise, Uryū couldn't explain how he was able to foretell almost every situation without flaw. This only furthered his desire to help Silas where.
"Are we starting this now?" he asked.
"No, not yet. I still have something to do. Come back tomorrow around this time, and be sure no one's following you."
Uryū was likely more curious than Kisuke about Silas's plans. While Silas did say he didn't need help regaining powers, he also never outright stated what powers he was referring to.
The moment Uryū left, Silas sat there. Though his body hurt all over, he didn't show any indications of it. There were many things to consider upon seeing the recent changes. What he needed to do now was prepare himself, so he sat down, closed his eyes, and entered his inner world.
Once he opened his eyes, Zangetsu was grinning right in front of him. It was sunny outside, and the two were standing on the side of a building.
"Have you been paying attention?" Silas calmly asked.
"I always am. From what I've seen, you've manipulated those around you and hidden your strength. All your actions point to the fact that you have an ulterior motive."
"And your thoughts?"
Zangetsu found the question ridiculous. He mocked him, saying, "Silas, do you know how long it's been since you've used my true power?!"
It was clear that he was thirsty to be swung and brandished. Soul Reaper, Hollow—it didn't matter who needed to be cut down. Zangetsu yearned to be used in battle against strong opponents. That was his nature as both a Hollow and a Zanpakutō. When Silas understood that, he summoned a weapon.
"I told you long ago that when I get stronger, so do you," he said, pointing the weapon at Zangetsu. "Let's begin my training."
For as long as he'd been a Soul Reaper, not once had Silas released Zangetsu's true power. He knew full well what it was, how to attain it, and when it was appropriate to unleash it. Seeing that Silas was finally ready to boost his strength, Zangetsu summoned the same weapon and rushed at him, screaming with excitement.
The two clashed blades. Zangetsu looked Silas in the eyes, saying, "I admit, your soul's strong, but your physical self won't stand a chance in a real fight!" With one swing of its blade, Silas went flying backward. His feet skidded in the air as he regained his composure.
'It's taunting me,' Silas thought to himself. Physical traits aside, he was indeed lacking. Though it wasn't his body, it was Ichigo's.
Before he knew it, Zangetsu came rushing in, clashing its sword with his again. Silas quickly maneuvered his blade to swipe at its torso. "Too slow!" Zangetsu screamed, flipping its body. It then swiped down at him, but Silas caught its wrist, surprising it. With one swing, he threw Zangetsu back into the building.
Perhaps Silas couldn't hold a candle to people like Kenpachi Zaraki in strength, but he was more than able to use his spiritual powers to augment his muscles. Zangetsu looked up to show an amused expression.
It then began spinning the longsword rapidly around his wrist. There was no chain or cloth for it to hold on to, yet the hilt kept moving as if it were an extension of its hand. "Don't blame me for not holding back!" With those words, it threw the weapon right at him. Silas dodged it, but the moment he did, Zangetsu disappeared from its spot, only to appear right where the sword was. It gripped the hilt and laughed, releasing a vast amount of seeable spiritual pressure from the blade. Silas was more than familiar with this technique: the infamous "getsuga tenshō!"
A blast made of condensed white and red spirit particles engulfed Silas. What was supposed to be a sense of excruciating pain was instead a feeling of euphoria.
Once the light faded, Silas backed out of the debris. It began to look for Zangetsu. "He-he!" he heard it laugh. "That can't be all you can take!"
A sudden ere feeling plagued Silas's senses. There was something off about Zangetsu—something he hadn't expected it to be capable of. By the time he knew where it was, Zangetsu used sonído three different times to distract him. On its third use, it swung its blade, releasing another getsuga tenshō. Calmly, Silas raised his weapon, and the attack crashed into him.
A large amount of debris formed. Zangetsu furrowed its brows, only to notice that the inner world began to get dark. When it looked up, it was enamored that there were clouds in the sky!
"It seems like you've forgotten who I am," Silas said from within the debris.
A sudden burst of spiritual pressure surged around him, blowing away the dust. He reeled his weapon back, saying, "Getsuga…" With one thrust of his sword, "tenshō", a massive wave of white light pillared the sky, swarming over Zangetsu and completely clearing the clouds high above!
When things finally settled, Zangetsu was seen hunch-backed in the air. There was hardly a scratch on it. Raising its sword, it stated how it wished to have been able to continue. For it could feel Silas's unwillingness to undergo further training. "It only took one move, huh, partner?"
"Hmph… You're with me to the end," Silas replied. "So let's see this through."
By the time his eyes slowly opened, he was back on the outskirts of Karakura Town. He could feel his spiritual pressure having increased once again. Yet there was something binding it that he hadn't felt until now.
