Destroyer70, guest, and the haloguy: Okay, you three responded to my question about the neural implants. I did my research and I've reached a conclusion: I' going to assume for now that Felix and Locus are just highly trained ODST's, therefore they don't have any sort of augmentation. If we stumble onto something that proves otherwise, then I'll add it, but for now let's say they don't have anything like that. Thank you so much for your input, though, I hope you stay tuned.
Zacker1590: I guess you'll like what I have in store this chapter.
Anon445751173: Horny Neo, best Neo.
Guest: Still not sure about pairings, so let's not discount Arkos for now. (But it is highly improbable that it'll be that)
Guest: I only promise to try.
Felix walked through the hallways of Beacon, keeping a small smile as Team NPR —Naming pending— gave him a tour. Inwardly he wanted to start shooting and bring in the Grimm with all the negativity he was feeling at the moment. The only silver lining he found was the amusement he felt over how his former partner, Pyrrha, was fidgeting nervously around him. Apparently she felt uncomfortable about having a 'fan' around.
'Didn't even have to try for that,' He snorted inwardly. 'Just thought I shouldn't be a dense idiot and actually acknowledge her fame. Thanks Pyr for giving me entertainment.'
"And this is our dorm room, and that one is… Team RWBY's," His tour guide said. He didn't missed the slight edge in her tone when she mentioned their sister team.
"Neat," he said. "Thanks a bunch for having me, again. I know I've said it a lot but, I mean it."
"'S not a problem!" Nora said. Her tone was kinda high.
'Jeez, did she always have that tone?' Felix wondered, if so it was a miracle none of them had gone deaf. "Just felt the need to say it. I didn't want to miss the tournament."
They entered the dorm and it was exactly as he remembered. Four beds on a perfect line, with a desk on the other side of the room and a bathroom in the back.
"We still don't know what happened with your team, though," Ren cut in. "Only thing Ozpin said was that they had an accident."
Felix rolled his eyes. "Yeah…" He said, in an exasperated tone. "They thought they could fuse three different kinds of Dust into one weapon… Maybe I thought it sounded cool too…"
"It does," Nora chirped.
"Not the aftermath though, I was off grabbing some stuff when suddenly BOOM!" He mimicked and explosion with his hands. "Next thing I know, my teammates are bedridden and I'm sulking because we won't be on the tournament."
Pyrrha raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you worried about them?"
"Pff nah!" He said. "They were laughing about it a week later, and when the notice that I could have a shot at the festival came they were cheering for me."
"Oh that's a relief. Sorry for asking," She apologized, as usual. She didn't changed a bit.
'Which means she's easy to predict,' Felix inwardly smirked. "So… uh… Kinda didn't want to ask but since you asked about me, can I do the same?"
The three looked at him with confusion. "Ask about…?" Nora questioned.
"Your teammate," He blurted out. "Headmaster Lionheart just told me you had a spot open, but never said why."
He knew why, obviously. But he had to play the part of a student, and gossips and rumours were a part of that life. And he was curious to see what they had to say about the failure that is Jaune Arc.
He noticed the mood shift. Nora lost her cheery attitude, showcasing how forced it felt this time around. Ren got more serious, if it was possible. And Pyrrha looked positively conflicted about it.
'Not what I was expecting,' Felix resisted the urge to blink. He expected disgust or amusement, not sadness.
"He… Was expelled," Pyrrha said. "Faked his transcripts and got kicked out."
"Because some jerks were mean to him!" Nora growled, sitting down on her bed. "He passed the initiation. He got through months of classes with us. He even saved their leader! Who cares how he got here?!" She threw her arms in the air, and then crossed them, her eyes shining with angry tears.
Ren sat at her side, wrapping an arm around her in a semi-hug. "We got caught up in a discussion when we learned about it. The three of us, that is. We decided we didn't care, compared to what others do here," His words came with an edge to them. "Jaune had good intentions. He wanted to be a Huntsman and help others; there was nothing wrong with that."
Pyrrha sighed. "But, as Ren says, we got caught up in the discussion and… By the time we were done he was gone…" She looked down gripping her arm. "And when we tried to contact him, we couldn't reach his scroll. He… was declared missing days later."
"… We didn't even said goodbye to him," Nora mumbled, burying her face on Ren's shoulder.
'… You gotta be kidding me,' Felix deadpanned on his head. Seriously, they missed a guy like Arc? Who could barely swing a sword without Pyrrha's help? And yes, he knows she did it! 'It was easier when I thought they shared my opinion on him. 'Ugh, this is going to suck.'
"Wow, I'm sorry guys," He apologized, while gagging inside. "I didn't want to bring any bad memories," He said, looking down.
"Sorry, we didn't meant to bring the whole mood down," Pyrrha said, now looking embarrassed.
"If it helps, I think that what the guy did require balls!" He said, smiling up. "And, with someone like Pyrrha on his team, he would have kicked some serious ass! And I'm sure that wherever he is, he is doing fine."
The three of them looked up at him in surprise, before slowly smiling with gratefulness. "T-thank you for that, Felix," Pyrrha said.
"Hey it's nothing," Felix said, giving a small wink. 'I think I'm gonna puke,' he thought. "Would look bad if I badmouthed my predecessor," He put down his bag and clasped his hands. "So what's in for the day? I want to know what else one can do here at Beacon and/or Vale."
"Well… We have an exposition about Grimm's habitats next week so we have to go to the library," Ren said.
Nora slumped. "But Rennyyyyyyy!" She wailed. "I don't wanna go to the libraryyyyyy!"
"Because you don't like books or because Team RWBY is going to be there?" Ren asked.
"Both," She pouted.
"Team RWBY?" Felix asked. Both to keep appearances of not knowing who they are, and because this is the second time something seems to be happening between team NPR —He has to think on how to include his name in, because this is getting ridiculous—and team RWBY.
Pyrrha sighed. "They're first years, like us. We used to be close but after Jaune, our teammate was expelled some of them… Had some choice of words about him," She explained.
"'That crook didn't deserved to be here! I'm rich and eat diamonds for breakfast! Hwahwahwa!'" Nora said in a posh tone, "stupid ice queen."
Yikes. Seems Jaune's snow angel had some venomous tone. "Sounds like a… Okay, sorry for this, she sounds like a bitch."
"She… is certainly mean," Pyrrha agreed. "But her teammates aren't better, except for Ruby but she's always with her team so talking is not so common now."
'Oh crater face. You deserve better than to stick your neck for someone like vomit boy,' Felix thought with a headshake. "I see. Well, stick and rocks I suppose. Ren's got an idea, and you shouldn't let some gossipers stop you."
"But the books!"
"Nora, books are good."
"Noooo, they're boriiiiiiing!"
"I'll double your ration of pancakes if you help."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
"ONWARDS MY TEAMMATES TO THE LIBRARY!" Nora declared as she sat up and dashed out of the dorm.
Ren shook his head and grabbed a pillow. "She'll be out in less than five minutes," he said, walking out.
Pyrrha chuckled. "Never a dull moment with Nora," She said, walking after them. "You coming?"
"I'll see you there," Felix said. "Have to unpack a bit."
She nodded and walked away, closing the door behind her.
Felix waited until he was alone to let out a long suffering sigh. "Dear loooooooords. I can't believe I'm doing this!" He groaned.
So, NPR didn't hate Jaune, they actually missed him. Pfff good luck there, the guy is dead and buried, maybe not literally but still. And they were also in bad terms with RWBY. Now that part sounds very, very interesting.
'Fanning the flames, maybe?' He thought with amusement. 'Kinda have to see how though, and also keep an eye out for crater face.'
Ruby was good, too good. One of the few things he could look back and say 'hey Arc didn't do that badly.' She helped him get his head out of his ass and pathetic self-pity over Cardin's blackmail. In some way, that event is what helped in Arc's death and his rise to awesomeness. She was his catalyst, the reason behind his existence in some way, and for that he was thankful—thankful that she, incidentally, put him on the path to make him who he is today.
And of course, for a long time he thought she was the only one who could miss someone like Arc. Which he supposed was kinda nice, at least she didn't got caught up in a stupid argument and got her priorities straight.
Her only problem was that she was the definition of goodie two-shoes, which meant she may go all Nancy Drew and snoop her nose where no one's calling her. Which is either A) going to kill her, which he didn't wanted, or B) bring him trouble with his new boss, which he didn't wanted either.
She has a track record of getting in Roman's way after all. And he can say without a doubt that the guy is good at what he does, even if he hasn't seen him in action the fact that he has someone as the gorgeous Neo working for him without doubt already tells you something.
He unzipped his bag and rummaged through it to take out a small gift he received from his smoking hot boss.
"I'll be both your guardian angel and your worst nightmare at the same time, crater face," Felix smirked as he observed his toy.
Ruby Rose considered herself a normal girl, despite being a Huntress in training. She didn't wanted to be a Bee's Knees—As her sister would say —she just wanted to help people because it was the right thing to do, just like her parents, liker her mom.
Then, almost a month ago, she had to watch her first friend here at Beacon leave because he faked his way in. And Ruby felt conflicted ever since.
Her partner had insisted that Jaune had it coming, that he was a crook for faking his way in. And her sister backed up that statement, saying it was reckless and he could've gotten his team hurt since he was the leader. Blake didn't say much on the matter though; she's always quiet like that.
The source of these conflicting feelings however is how those statements seemed a bit… hypocritical now. Yang was also reckless from time to time, she still remembered the wrecked bar from days before getting into Beacon, and she didn't know Jaune that well to come to a conclusion like that. And Weiss just seemed to still hold him in contempt, even if she's more reserved about it now, despite letting bygones be bygones with Blake—not that she's complaining, though. She loved that her team made up after discovering she was a former member of the White Fang.
And there's also team NPR to take into consideration, despite everything they still defend Jaune, and had drifted apart from them when in their first semester they were almost inseparable.
Afterwards she heard he went missing. Never arriving at home after he left. And she couldn't even try and look for him because of classes and because she wouldn't know where to even start looking.
Then, when she told them she heard his voice in the docks coming from one of those guys with the coolest armor she's ever seen, they just brushed it off with different comments.
"Oh please, if what you told us is true then that couldn't have been Arc, he never possessed that kind of skill."
"It's… Similar, I won't deny that. But his tone and the way he carried himself were too different from Jaune's. Sorry, Ruby; I don't think it was him."
''I don't think so baby-sis, Vomit Boy was… Not the best in fighting. If that guy took on so many WF grunts then he has to be a full-fledged Huntsman, Rubes. Rubes? HEY RUBY!"
"Huh!? What!?" The girl jolted as she snapped back into reality. She was in the library, playing Remnant the game with her team.
"It's your turn, you dummy," Yang said playfully as she gestured to the battlefield. "Daydreaming about your plans for the semester?"
"Ehehehe, kinda…" Ruby murmured before focusing on her cards. "Okay then, Yang. I will play Atlesian Air Fleet! To attack your band of Ursai and get them off my defenses!"
Yang gasps dramatically, "you fiend!" She exclaims dramatically.
Ruby giggled in her hand as she saw her sister get angry at her sudden attack. When the noise of the library's door opening calls her attention and her mood drops again.
Team NPR arrives with their new teammate, they look at their table for a moment before moving ahead without sparing them a second glance. Except the new guy who stares at them for a moment before shrugging and following their… Former friends she supposed.
Yang winced, "still giving us the cold shoulder huh?" She mumbled. "And here I wanted to meet the new guy."
"I'm sure we'll have a chance for that later," Weiss said, not looking up from her cards as she was trying to decipher what to do with them.
Unbeknown to them, Blake looked up from her own set of cars to look in the direction of team NPR and Felix.
Felix Naran. Another person that make Ruby feel conflicted. She only heard his voice briefly, but it sounded almost like Jaune's. But then again so did that armoured guy. Ruby was starting to think that maybe she was going a bit crazy about it. But can't you blame her? Her first friend went missing after leaving Beacon, of course she couldn't keep it away from her head.
"You guys heard it too, right?" She asked, meekly. "H-his voice…" She trailed off.
Yang seemed to catch on what she was trying to say. She mulled it over and tilted her head to the side. "Yeah, this time I agree with you sis, he does sound like VB."
Weiss rolled her eyes, "again with this?" She asked. "He might sound similar he isn't that dor- Arc. He isn't Arc," she corrected herself, not wanting to insult the missing knight around Ruby.
Again, Blake was silent. But her ribbon twitched.
"Whatever. Don't try to distract me sis!" Yang said. "'Cuse I play the Nevermore card!"
Ruby's thoughts on Felix, Jaune, and the cool mercenary guys dispersed as she heard Yang's declaration. "What?! B-but if you roll anything less than seven, it'll attack your own forces!"
"I'm willing to take the risk~" She said rolling two dices. Their faces revealed a four and a three. "Oh yeah~"
"Nooooo," Ruby moaned as she observed her forces being destroyed by Yang's Nevermore.
"Alright Weiss-Cream, your turn," Yang said, as she enjoyed her sister's misery.
Weiss looked between her cards and the board. "I… Have absolutely no idea of what is going on."
As Yang began explaining Weiss the rules, Ruby slumped down in defeat, laying her head against the table. She looked at the table where NPR-plus—as she would call them from now on —was sitting. Nora was sleeping with a pillow under her head, while Pyrrha, Ren and Felix were reading a few books.
Her eyes focused on the Mistralian student. She just couldn't shake off the fact that he sounded so similar to her missing friend, it was so weird. And well, they looked nothing alike, since last time she saw him Jaune didn't have a scar running down his cheek… Or black hair, or red eyes. 'Kinda reminds me of drunkle Qrow,' she mused.
So, what should she do? Go there and introduce herself? She doubts it. Thing is, the relationships between both teams wasn't the best after the knight's departure. And she wasn't a exactly a social butterfly, as Yang could attest to.
They seemed to be conversing about something and then Felix turned to look at them, while Ren and Pyrrha frowned.
Ruby quickly turned her head, praying to any deity that they hadn't seen her staring at them.
"And now you can take Ruby's discarded air fleet and add it to your hand."
Wait what?
"NOOOOO!" She wailed as her sister rubbed salt in the wound as she taught Weiss how to play. Explaining her how her Vacuan warriors had various advantages on the field. 'She's egging you on, Weiss. Don't fell for it!' She said on her head.
Obviously, Weiss didn't hear her, and went off a monologue on how her Vacuan citizens were going to conquer the land… Until.
"Trap card," Yang pulled out.
Yup, there it was.
Weiss' hopes and dreams of conquest failed as Yang turned the tables on her.
"I hate this game of emotions we play…" The poor heiress cried.
Ruby jumped on her partner's lap and hugged her for comfort. "Be strong, Weiss. We'll make it through this."
"Shut up, don't touch me!" Despite her words, Weiss latched at Ruby like a safe line.
Yang snickered and put her hands behind her head. "Blakey, you're up!"
Blake finally seemed to react to outside stimuli and looked around. "Umm… What was I doing again?"
"You're playing as Vale, in an epic conquest for the dominance of Remnant," Yang said in an epic voice… Sorta.
"Right…" She said, clearly not into the game.
"Hey," A voice so familiar had them turning around. "What're you playing?"
They turned to see the plus of Team NPR-Plus, looking down at them with a smile. Ruby stared at their teammates and they all seemed as put off as her by the sudden rush of familiarity.
"Ummm, Remnant the game," Yang said, recovering fast while blinking.
"Oh, cool," He said, smirking friendly smile. "I think I haven't introduced myself. Name's Felix Naran."
"W-We know," Weiss said, before clearing her throat and coughing on her fist. "We… Saw your introduction with headmaster Ozpin."
"Neat," Felix said, pocketing his hands. "You guys are… Team RWBY, right?"
"Y-yeah," Ruby nodded. Getting a small hint of where he knew that from. "I'm Ruby Rose and these are my teammates: Weiss, Blake, and Yang."
"Nice to meet you," Felix said with a one finger salute. He walked to the table and looked over Ruby's head to watch the board, putting his hands on her shoulders. "So, can I play?"
"S-sorry, we're full already," Ruby said, slowly recovering from the fact that this guy sounded exactly like Jaune, and a bit uncomfortable at the sudden contact.
"And we don't know you enough to be sure you can protect the good citizens of Vacuo," Weiss said, waving the cards on her hand for emphasis.
"Said the girl who attacked her own fleet two turns ago," Yang mumbled under her breath.
"Still learning!"
"Hey now, that's not fair," He said with a half-smirk, taking his hands off Ruby's shoulders and pocketing them back. "I might've not been my team's leader, but I've been told I have the mind of a tactician."
Weiss rolled her eyes. "I'll keep my doubts for now, thank you."
Ruby had to hide a wince. Even if her partner was trying to be a lot less bratty after the docks, her attitude still shines through sometimes.
"Jeez, okay, I'll back off," The boy said raising his arms up. "Especially since she is glaring at me like that," He said, pointing at the other end of the table.
Ruby turned to see Blake hiding her face back into her cards with a visible frown, her bow twitching from time to time. She turned to speak with Felix only to see he returned to his table with NPR, exchanging a few words before grabbing their stuff, waking Nora up, and leaving.
"That… Didn't earned us any points with them, did it?" Ruby asked with a sigh.
Yang gives Blake an inquisitive glare. "What was that about?"
Blake doesn't respond right away, but eventually she sighs and says, "I'll tell you when we go to our dorm."
The sisters' exchange looks before shrugging and decide to give her the benefit of the doubt.
"'Sup losers!" Another familiar voice calls out and they turn to see Sun with a boy with blue hair arriving.
"Seems you guys were right, only half of that team came off as friendly," Felix said as he lay on his bed. "One was quick to brush me off and the other looked like she wanted to claw my eyes out."
"Told ya," Nora said sulking on bed while being forced to read a book.
After Felix approached team RWBY in that awkward exchange, team NPR-plus decided to continue their study back on their room.
"Also, aren't libraries meant for studying?" He asked. "Why were they playing a game there?"
"Thank you!" Ren said from the desk, scribbling down some notes for their work.
"It was still nice that you tried to know them by yourself," Pyrrha said from her own bed.
Again, Felix decided to act as if Pyrrha's word was the word of Jesus and smiled sheepishly. "Aww, i-it was nothing," He said, putting on his best adorkable smile. "Seemed kinda unfair to just take your word for it… But now I think I'll do just that."
"In that case, pancakes have been declared to be eaten in all foods so can you go and fetch me some-"
"Nora, no taking advantage of our new teammate," Ren said slightly.
"Party-pooper!" Nora pouted.
Pyrrha giggled and Felix let out a chuckle. It was genuine, though; Nora was still as amusing as he remembered. 'Not that it will do her any favours in the future,' He thought with a smirk. If they got in the way of his job with Cinder, then they'll have some… sad accidents.
His scroll went off and he picked it. "Oh! Guys I gotta head out, some friends from Haven are here and I wanna catch up with them. I promise I won't be late."
"It's okay," Pyrrha smiled, with Nora and Ren giving sounds of agreement.
Felix got out of the room, but kept his persona up. He didn't want to slip and catch someone's attention. He took out two wireless ear-buds and put them on, while pressing an app on his cell as he walked along the hallway. At first he only heard static, but slowly the sound became clear.
"Torchwick, the White Fang," Blake's voice rang on his ear. "Everything! Something big is happening!"
'Like you wouldn't know,' Felix thought. He put a small microphone on Ruby's cape earlier on the cafeteria when he put his hands on her shoulders, connected to his scroll. Now he can keep an ear out for her. 'And it is water-proof, the wonders of science!'
"Ozpin told us not to worry!" Yang said. "Between the police and the Huntsmen, I'm sure they can handle it."
"Well, I'm not!" Blake snapped. "They don't know the Fang like I do!"
'Hold the fucking phone!' He thought. 'She's a Faunos in hiding that knows the White Fang personally… And her last name is Belladona… And she's a cat… Oh for fuck's sake, is everyone here stupid!?'
Felix did her bit of research since he is working with the Fang know under Cinder's orders. So he knows that their founder was Ghira Belladona!
'And they know… They must know… They have an ex-terrorist under their roof, but what Arc did is apparently still unforgivable?!' He hated Arc, but this was just another level of hypocrisy. 'Ohohoho, they're gonna get their ass served to them… 'cept crater face.'
Ruby wasn't a hypocrite. She accepted anyone as long as they had good intentions. She accepted Arc and Belladona, so that's okay in his book. Now it is a dick-move to hate Arc and be all buddy-buddy with someone that has killed before.
'I am not ignoring the fact that I've done worse than her, but at least I accept I'm an asshole,' Felix thought. 'They're just being so self-righteous that it pisses me off!'
"Let me once again be the voice of reason." Weiss continues. "We're students! We're not ready to handle this sort of situation!"
"Well yeah, but..." Ruby tries to object.
"We're not ready!" Weiss stresses.
"And we may never be ready!" Blake tells them. "Our enemies aren't just going to sit around and wait for graduation. They're out there, somewhere, planning their next move, and none of us know what it is, but it's coming! Whether we're ready or not!"
'Arrogant much?' Felix thought. 'Seriously, she's going to get her whole team killed for playing vigilante… I kinda hope it happens, just to teach them a lesson. Oh, better yet, that Yang and Weiss die and Ruby ends up hating her. Hehehe that would be amazing… Nah, Ice queen and big tits would become martyrs and call attention to Cindy.'
"Okay." Ruby interjects. "All in favour of becoming the youngest Huntresses to single-handedly taking down a corrupt organization conspiring against the Kingdom of Vale... say aye."
"Yes!" Yang said, pumped. "I love it when you're feisty!"
"Well, I suppose it could be fun." Weiss admits.
"None of you said aye…" Ruby said sadly.
'Goddamn it, crater face,' Felix sighs. 'Now I have to see how to avoid getting you killed! And check when is the next combat class to kick Belladona's bellabooty!'
"Also… keep it a secret, especially from NPR and their new member," Blake suddenly said.
"Huh? Why? Does it have to do with you giving him the stinking eye?" Yang asked.
Blake sighs. "Just listen… His voice sounds like the mercenary that killed a member of the White Fang, I'm sure of it!'
'Crap,' Felix sighs.
"… The mercenary that sounded like… Jaune?" Yang asked. "Okay I can definetly say this Felix bud sounds like vb, but if he also sounds like the guy from the docks you and Rubes talk about then this is getting ridiculous."
"So it might've be him?!" Ruby asked with hope. Poor thing.
"Please," Weiss scoffed, the bitch. "As if Arc could reach the level of thugs like the White Fang, but if it is the mercenary then we might want to keep our eyes open."
"There's… Also the fact that his partner outright called him Felix," Blake added.
'Goddamn it, Locus!' Add that to 'Reasons why I'll murder Locus on his sleep!'
"So we exchanged a crook for another?" He could hear the eye-roll on Weiss' voice.
'Belladona or her is going to get their ass-handed to them,' He thought, scowling at the arrogance of the two. He was arrogant too, but he had the right to be, he was an elite ODST soldier and mercenary that took down criminals and heroes equally. Those two, they were just snot-nosed brats.
"Okaaaay, the voice thing is kinda suspicious, but without proof then we can't just write him off as bad. Heck, the armed guy helped you at the docks," Yang said.
"And killed a person! And use him as a meet shield!"
'Boo-fucking-hoo,' Felix rolled his eyes. 'He was weaker than me; that meant I could kill him. And saved your miserable life which now I regret.'
"I don't agree with what he did," Ruby said meekly. "But he is on our side, or at least against Torckwick's."
'Yeaaaah, about that…' Felix shook his head with a smirk.
"We're getting side-tracked," Weiss said. "We need to prepare, I think this weekend shall do."
Ruby suddenly gasped. "I forgot my board game!"
Weiss sighed. "Never mind, we're doomed."
Felix cut the connection and sighed. "Great, now I have to make sure crater face isn't killed by her stupid teammates, while also informing my smoking-hot boss of-"
"Do my ears ring? Or do you have another smoking-hot boss?"
Felix turned to see Cinder with Emerald and Mercury at her side, all three of them wearing school uniforms.
Before he could speak however, a cloud of red petals impacted against his back and almost send him crashing down the floor.
"Oof!" He turned again to see Ruby sprawled on the floor with her hand on her head. "Owww…"
'Déjà vu,' Felix thought. "Hey, you okay?"
Ruby looked up at him. "O-oh! H-hi! Felix, right?"
Felix smiled and an idea came to mind. A part of him hated it, the other wanted to mess with the young girl a little bit. "Glad you remembered it. Short, sweet, rolls off the tongue – ladies love it!"
Ruby's expression was priceless. Her complexion became even paler and her mouth gape like a fish. He might not want to hurt her, but he just couldn't resist her reaction when a person with Arc's voice says the same thing as that wimp said to her when they met. "I-I-I… 'Scuse me!" She burst into petals and ran back to her dorm.
Oh and it also helped to scare her away from his boss! He's just awesome.
Felix shook his head and turned around, seeing the expectant expression of his contractor and the deadpans from her sidekicks. "Do the ladies actually love it?" Mercury asked.
"Your mother did."
"You son of a- ahaha, okay that was a good one," Mercury started chuckling after his initial reaction.
"Children, please," Cinder said, raising a hand to silence them. "You mentioned you had something to tell me, Felix."
Felix sighed. Here we go.
"So the same group of girls that's been ruining Roman's operations want to go scouting?" Cinder asks, while sitting on her bed.
"That's what I said, yes," Felix said, leaning against a wall. Emerald shot him a glare that he promptly ignored. "It's the kitten's fault, really."
"Well, you know how the saying goes: Curiosity killed the cat, as Tukson can attest to," Mercury chuckled.
"Who?"
"Exactly," The silver boy grinned.
Felix rolled his eyes. "So, m'lady, mind telling me about any operations you have in mind?"
"Why so curious?" Cinder asked, twirling a lock of hair on her finger.
"Taking in consideration these girls had gotten in Roman's way, I'd like to know what his, or rather your, next movement is going to be. We are already one step ahead by knowing what they'll do, how about two more in case they find Roman red-handed and interrupt his plans again?" Felix asked folding his arms.
Cinder exchanged looks with her two puppies and finally shrugged. "Well a rally to recruit new White Fang members will happen soon, next week to be precise. And there Roman was going to show a… Present for them."
"So, can you reschedule it for this weekend, for when these girls go out?" Felix asked.
" … I could," Cinder confirmed and got out of bed. "But why would I want to give them that advantage?" She asked, getting close to Felix's face.
"To expose their little game," Felix said, getting close to Cinder, not flinching at the heat her glare was emitting. "They want to play heroes, right? Without the permission of any authority, if they're suddenly found snooping around on White Fang rallies and beating down criminals without license then they'll be arrested or expelled, unable to meddle in your plans again."
Mercury scoffed to the side. "Then let's just get rid of them the old fashioned way."
Felix deadpanned at him. "Excuse me, the adults are talking," He said. "Thank you very little!"
Mercury returned him the glare. "What? Too coward to actually get your hands dirty," He asked, sitting up
"No, too smart to know that killing them will turn them into martyrs," Felix said matching his glare. "'Poor Beacon girls killed by the White Fang, one of them a Fauns herself,' that's what the headlines will say. It will draw attention to Torchwick, to the fang and to you."
"But exposing showing them fighting us will make them look like heroes, dear," Cinder said, giving the two a warning glare. "Your idea holds merit but it needs something else… That luckily we have."
Felix waited and sighed. 'Always with the cryptic one-liners,' He thought in annoyance. "What is it?"
"The gift, we are going to give the White Fang," Cinder said, walking back to her bed. "It's the latest in Atlesian technology for modern warfare."
"Okay baby, you got me hook and line, now sell me off the deal," Felix said. Last time he heard something like that, he almost received the Meta's armour.
"The Atlesian Paladin," Cinder said, showing him a picture from her scroll. It was a giant mech, not as impressive as the MANTIS or SCARAB, but awesome nonetheless.
"And sinker," He said in awe, staring at the robot. "A fight between a team of Huntresses and this robot, on the streets, causing damage and even death," he chuckled in glee. "All of it recorded to the world to see, and causing this girls expulsion and arrest."
"You seem to hold a grudge against them," Emerald said with suspicion. "What do you want them expelled so badly?"
Felix shrugged. "Does it matter? In the end that will cause them to be out of your way, and you'd only have to worry about the authorities. And hey! If you haven't being caught by this point, then you must be doing something good."
"We'll still expose ourselves," Cinder said. But then she smirked. "But overall, your idea aligns with what we want to achieve on the greater scale."
"And that would be?" Felix asked, walking towards Cinder in interest and leaning forward.
"I'll tell you what I said to Roman, you'll know in due time," Cinder responded. "But… If this doesn't work, you'll be the only responsible."
"I know that," Felix said. "But the same applies if it does work, then will you give me the first part of my payment."
Cinder was quiet for a moment before nodding. "Fair enough," She extended her hand and Felix shook it with gusto.
"Just another thing," Felix said. "We have to deal with another problem. One of those girls, Blake Belladona, suspects that I am the armoured guy from the docks. I don't suppose you have a way to throw her off?"
Cinder smirked and looked at Emerald, who perked up immediately. "Why yes, yes we do. But for it to work, we will need you to be at the rally."
"Deal," Felix said rapidly. "A chance to go crazy, while fighting those brats? Count me in!" Then he frowned. "Speaking of fighting chicks, weren't you supposed to be with-"
A cold tip, on his throat, again.
"Oh, there it is," Felix said with an eye-roll. He looked to the side to see a girl in a gothic lolitia dress, black hair in twin-tails, and green eyes that shifted to maroon and white. "Well hello, Ice-cream goddess."
Neo in disguise smiled sweetly at him and wiggled her fingers at him.
"Felix, may I present you to our teammate: Noire," Cinder said. "Noire, please show some manners."
'Noire' rolled her eyes and sheathed her blade on her hips. "Must say, three times you've snuck upon me and threatened me," Felix said crossing his arms and smiling. "Color me impress, you are incredible."
Noire covered her face in her hands and imitated the attitude of a school fangirl when talking with a senior student. She looked up at him and fluttered her eyelids adorably.
'Yeah… I'm gonna laid her,' Felix thought. This chick obviously knew that, and was taunting him with all those cute faces.
"Ehem!" Cinder coughed loudly. "If you two are quite done, will that be it, Felix?"
"Last thing, I swear," He said. "Just send Locus there too, I work better with my partner than without him." As an afterthought he added, 'And that way I can keep an eye on him. And put on my armour… I miss my baby.'
"That was already a given, dear," Cinder said with a pleased smirk.
"Good," Felix said. "Then I'll keep you in touch." He turned to address the other people in the room. "Mint hair," Emerald glowered at him. "Emo boy," Mercury flipped him the bird. "Ice-cream goddess," 'Noire' blew him a kiss. "Later."
Felix left the room leaving the four members of the fake team CMEN on their own.
Mercury turned to the black-haired girl. "I'll bite, do you like the guy or are you baiting him?"
The petite criminal merely shrugged with a sweet smile and skipped out of the room like a giddy little-girl.
"… Can anyone understand how she works?" Emerald asked.
"Nope," Mercury responded with a headshake.
"I'm pretty sure she adopted Roman and he doesn't even realize," Cinder added, eyes narrowed in the direction where the girl went.
A/N: I was going to add a fight scene between Felix and a member of Team RWBY in combat class. But this seemed like a good place to end it.
Felix is already planning his own schemes, and wanting to drag RWBY into the mud out of spite (Lovely)
Before anyone accuses me of bashing on Team RWBY because I'm putting them as hypocrites, remember this is Felix we're talking about. He would accuse anyone of anything as long as it benefits him.
And, well… Weiss is my favourite girl, but during the first three volumes she was kind of a bitch. Volumes four and onwards showed her growth and she basically turned into the group's mother.
And now we see why Felix cares for Ruby so much. In his mind, Ruby is the catalyst of his ascension. Without Ruby's nope speech Jaune wouldn't have stood up to Cardin, which wouldn't have caused RDL to expose him and get him out of Beacon, which wouldn't have caused him to somehow find the temple that sent him to UNSC territory.
Cause and effect I suppose. And like the toxic person he is, he wants Ruby to be away from anyone else except him. Yaaaaay.
Next episode might include that fight scene and maybe the paladin's persecution. Would Felix's plan work? Would Team RWBY still be hailed as heroes? Would Locus finally decide that Felix is too far gone and put a bullet through his head?
Time will tell.
