So here we get to see the Wrangler Invasion, something we saw in Flashback in Rescue of the Mizzerans, but here we get to see what it was like for citizens on the East Coast, who because time zones work the same way they do on Earth would be much later at night than it was for Marzipan, and here I'm going to do something I did for some other characters in my Fictionpress in that Lotus will feel an incredible urge to leave her house in the middle of the night so she will be separated from her parents when the Invasion happens, because we've established already there is something supernatural about her, it isn't too much of a logical leap she gets 'bewitched' in this way
Ah...Summer Vacation! A real double-edged sword for furry, feathery and even blubbery Humanimals...While Cubs of all species appreciate not going to school, the hot weather when you have an insulating coat of fur, feathers or even blubber and you have to wear a layer of clothing over that because of human rules of modesty...Let's just say Summer on Mizzer is known for incidents caused by Humanimal crankiness…
But overall Reptiles seemed to be the exception to this rule, for obvious reasons...While their Amphibian Neighbors on days of excessive heat would go to designated cooling centers where they would keep their slimy skins wet by soaking in pools of water, the reptiles, particularly Reptiles like the Venomeye family who were native to Tropical areas were having a lovely time basking in the sun! Sunshine City to them with both its heat and humidity was almost like their Native India, except got slightly more cold than they would like it during the winter but you can't have everything now can you?
For Lotus, it seemed like just another night, for supper. Her Mom had made the usual meal of Beef Tartare, their version was just raw beef and raw egg, no onions, capers, mushrooms or seasonings of any kind they were among the few Mizzer Carnivores who were still pure carnivores. Aside from the Mammalian Carnivores, other Predator Humanimals like Birds of Prey, Crocodillians and Frogs had over the generations adapted to a more omnivorous diet, it only took a few generations of dealing with stomach cramps and diarrhea but eventually they gained the ability to digest bread and vegetables...But snakes lack both the teeth and the jaws to properly grind plant matter and furthermore, they were among the few carnivores who still preferred their meat raw, those Fluffy Mammal and Bird Humanimals might be squeamish around raw meat, fearing if they were even to eat sashimi it would cause a relapse into predatory animal instinct and cause them to hunt their fellow Humanimals to satisfy their craving for raw meat (As if they couldn't simply buy raw meat from the grocery store and not cook it)
For that night for the Little Cobra Princess, she mostly calmly ate her supper while listening to her parents talk to each other about grown-up things she had no interest in...Lotus had an average summer day, hanging out with her friends, wandering around saying and doing nothing of substance...Lotus felt a strange kind of dreamy feeling as if she was hypnotized herself!
But that night when it was time for bed she suddenly felt extremely restless, unable to sleep...She suddenly felt to hot in her bed...A feeling she never felt before! She slithered out from under her covers and looked out the window...She seemed almost mesmerized by the moon...Seemed larger and brighter than usual hanging in the sky like the largest pearl in the world! Lotus felt strange feelings and thought strange thoughts she never thought before…
She got dressed, putting on a purple tunic that covered her torso leaving long serpentine lower half to slither freely as was the acceptable dress code for Snake Humanimals… She could her parents quietly hiss-snoring in their room so Lotus was able to slither out of the house effortlessly…
She slithered out to a nearby meadow, and after staring at the moon as if gathering its energy in her eyes, she began to dance a wild dance she had never danced before! Not even noticing what looked like shooting stars darting above, landing in the wilderness outside of town…
So decided to leave it there and let this chapter be more set-up and world building and in particular how Snakes differ from other Humanimals even other reptiles...I think I want to watch The Big Brawl episodes again before writing where she gets to the Battle Nexus, and I just want to say I'm surprised how popular this story is already! But it seems once again my random lazy ideas are more popular then the epic arcs that are so dear to me
