Albus Potter nodded and took out a book from his bag. He levitated the book to the middle of the circle.—"The book will read itself with the voice of who is talking. It will stop if you interrupt or we ask him to. All questions at the end."
Everyone nodded and the Book read. –"Harry Potter and the philosopher stone, Chapter 1 the boy who lived"
Lily did not like the book, from the start.
"Why does it start with my sister-in-law?"
Mrs. Potter was Mrs. Dursley's sister, but they hadn't met for several years;
"Oh"—Lily said frowning—"Then that means the last time we saw each other was at my parent's funeral."—
"Good for nothing husband?"—Dorea huffed how Petunia dared say such things of her son.
"Little Tyke"
"Allowing such behavior so young"
"That child will grow into a menace"
a cat reading a map
McGonagall frowned, was that her? What was she doing there?
Dumbledore looked at the floor, he already had an idea of when did the book started.
"Muggles have a really boring life"—Augusta said
"Not all of them but most have a routine that doesn't change much"—Lily said to the old Longbottom.
they pointed and gazed open-mouthed as owl after owl sped overhead
"Something is happening, we are being careless."
"Lily your brother-in-law sounds delightful"—Frank groused out.
"He made a horrible impression on me. The biggest fight my sister and I had"—she said sadly
Albus Potter prepared himself for what was coming. His time in the past was rare and he never knew what to expect. In his father's time, he knew who would overreact but here there were so many "new" people, he knew that the people involved would have a difficult time accepting what happened to them.
(…)'The Potters, that's right, that's what I heard –' (…) '– yes, their son, Harry –'
"What, why…"—Lily said shaking her head
"What happened with my son?"—James asked Albus who smiled sadly at him but didn't answer.
You -know -who has gone at last!
Several people gasp.
Dumbledore sighed sadly; it was the morning after the Potters' death.
"How is that possible?"
"Who killed him?"
"What do Lily and James have to do with it?"—Sirius said frowning
"It's also talking about Harry"—Remus stated, having a slight suspicion of where this was going and not liking it.
'Well, Ted,' said the weatherman, 'I don't know about that, but it's not only the owls that have been acting oddly today
Ted Tonks sits up, -"Is that me?"
Albus Potter nodded.
'Harry. Nasty, common name, if you ask me.'
"What is the matter with this woman"—Alice said
Lily frowned, she didn't believe her sister hate her, she didn't like her yes, but hated her that she spoke so horribly of Harry, it made her sad.
"It's ok, Flower she doesn't know what she's missing"—her husband whispered. She gave him a sweet smile.
(…)He was tall, thin and very old, judging by the silver of his hair and beard (…)
Monty looked up at Dumbledore who was still staring at his shoes. He then turned around to look at his Son and understood what was happening; he had lost his son this exact night.
Remus hold on to Sirius and so did Marlene.
'All day? When you could have been celebrating? I must have passed a dozen feasts and parties on my way here.'
"I doubt I would be celebrating"—Dumbledore said
Molly said—"You would think it was more than eleven years, it feels like a lifetime"
I have never seen any reason to be frightened of saying Voldemort's name.
"Yes, will not everyone is that brave. You-Know-who is frightened off you"—Minerva said
Everyone leaned forward
He went to find the Potters.
"No!"—Sirius yelled even though he was expecting it.
"No, Merlin please don't tell me…"—Dorea started sobbing, her husband holding on to her.
The rumor is that Lily and James Potter are – are – that they're – dead.
"NO!"—James said standing up while Lily just stared at the book in shock.
Snape closed his eyes; he didn't like the cold feeling that went up his spine at those words.
"Lily!"—Marlene said standing up. James reacted and turned around to look at his wife who was turning purple.
"Lils, breathe love please."—He said shaking her, Marlene slapped her and Lily took a deep breath that was interrupted by a painful cry.
"Shh Lils breathe with me"—James said kneeling in front of her and putting both of her hands on his chest.
Molly summoned a glass of water for Dorea and Lily who both looked deadly pale. Remus was trying hard not to hyperventilate and Sirius was just staring into the air, he looked up at the time traveler and stood up.
"WHAT SICK JOKE IS THIS, DO YOU THINK IS FUNNY?"—He said pointing at Albus who looked sad and conflicted.
Lily was full-on crying now whispering—"My baby, what happened to my baby."
Snape stood up and gave a potion to Monty—"Here put three drops in each glass it's a calming draught"—Monty being a potion master himself took it and smelled it. He then added the drops.
It took a few minutes for the group to calm down. Alice, Marlene, and Minerva were cleaning their tears while the rest just looked sadly at the couple.
Lily was the one that spoke between quiet sobs.—"Let's continue please"
James nodded as well, he wanted to cry and hold his wife but knew that both of them couldn't break down, he would wait until they were alone. He turned to look at his mom and grabbed her hand. He then looked at his brothers, both looked in pain. –"Guys, I'm right here"—but neither listened.
"He couldn't kill that boy (…)
"Harry survived?"—Dorea said shocked.
'I've come to bring Harry to his aunt and uncle. They're the only family he has left now.'
"What about my brothers?"—James said angrily.—"Sirius is his godfather, Remus is his uncle…"
"A letter?"—Andromeda asked perplexed— "And what did this letter say, your sister is dead now raise the child"—She flinch when she realized the tone she said since it made her Aunt cry once more— "Sorry, I didn't mean it that harshly"
Lily nodded understanding. She wasn't liking this either.
These people will never understand him! He'll be famous – a legend – I wouldn't be surprised if today was known as Harry Potter Day in future – there will be books written about Harry – every child in our world will know his name!'
"My sister will hate him, she will treat him horribly"
"She's your sister, Lily, I'm sure she will treat him like family"—Dumbledore said, and Albus Potter just rolled his eyes.
"That's too much responsibility for such a small baby"— Molly said contrite
Hagrid smiled at Dumbledore's words.
'Young Sirius Black lent it me. I've got him, sir.'
"I would never let you take Harry from me"—Sirius stated not understanding anything of what was happening
Inside, just visible, was a baby boy, fast asleep. Under a tuft of jet-black hair over his forehead they could see a curiously shaped cut, like a bolt of lightning
"Oh my baby, that must've hurt."—James said sadly containing his tears
"What curse causes that scar?"—Remus asked
Albus Potter took a deep breath—"The killing curse"
Lily's eyes bulge out—"He…dared… oh Harry"—she had the urge to run upstairs and hug her baby
"Remember to never go to McGonagall for comfort"—Marlene said to Sirius but he was barely listing.—"Love, breath please."
He laid Harry gently on the doorstep, took a letter out of his cloak, tucked it inside Harry's blankets.
"I didn't know you cared so much for us Minnie, always thought we were nothing but trouble"-James said with a slight smile.
"You are"—the professor said smiling back
"The doorsteps?"—Dorea said glaring at Dumbledore—"You left my grandbaby in the door, you didn't even knock what is the matter with you Dumbledore"
Good luck, Harry,' he murmured.
Lily let out a bitter laugh-"Luck, yes he will need it"
not knowing he was special, not knowing he was famous, not knowing he would be woken in a few hours' time by Mrs Dursley's scream as she opened the front door to put out the milk bottles, nor that he would spend the next few weeks being prodded and pinched by his cousin Dudley.
"He should be with Sirius."—James said shaking his head—"Where the hell are you?"—He asked his brother who had nothing to say back.
"He should be with us, warm between us…"-Lily said tears rolling down her cheeks.
To Harry Potter – the boy who lived!'
"He is the only person that has survived the Killing curse…people will praise him for that"—Frank said trying to soothe his wife who was on the verge of crying.
"That's a stupid title"—James stated. He didn't want his baby to be famous for their murders.
"He hates it actually"—Albus said making everyone look at him
"We need answers kid"—Moody stated
Albus shook his head up and down and started taking off his capes until he revealed himself. Dorea gasped; he looked slightly like Monty but he had…Lily's eyes.
"My eyes"—Lily whispered
"Yes, I'm the only child who inherited, with the years a few grandkids but we will talk about that later. You have questions?"
"We should've died last night?"—James said remembering McGonagall arriving from Godric.
"Yes, he arrives and kills you both. James dies first and then Lily"—Albus said quickly.
James couldn't stop the sob; he felt Lily's hand on his back, her cheek on his shoulder.
"Where am I?"—Sirius asked dreading the answer.
Albus paused. He knew that if he didn't tell him then he would be asking every few minutes where he was. So he went for a quick version of it.
"You…you are on your way to Azkaban"—
The reaction was immediate.
"What?"
"You're wrong"
"You killed Peter"—Marlene stated trembling, Sirius turned around shocked at her words. Yes, he wanted revenge, talked about it but he…would he kill Peter? Would he have the guts to point his wand at his brother?
"Stop, please"—Albus said— "He didn't kill Peter, he was framed, Moody tried to get a confession, but Sirius was in shock, and he blamed himself for your death, which was enough for Crouch."
"What about his trial?"—Andromeda asked frowning. Dumbledore would have been able to help him.
"Sirius didn't get a trial; Crouch saw the name Black and gave him a life sentence to Azkaban."
Sirius stood up and slammed his fist into the wall. Making Marlene run to him.
-"Stop, please"—Marlene said—"You're hurting yourself."
"No one questioned it…not even me?"—Remus said
Albus shook his head—"Peter did an excellent job. In the original timeline, you didn't infiltrate the packs, you just get recruited and that made you leave from time to time, with no Monty the boys got suspicious of you"
James huffed—"So Peter made us believe he was the spy?"
"No not you, Sirius. Sirius started living with Remus after Marlene's death. Peter would visit and start poisoning Sirius grieving mind with lies about Remus and vice versa. By the end, Sirius didn't trust Remus because he was a Werewolf and Remus didn't trust Sirius for being a Black."
Remus looked down ashamed; he knew the reason why he stopped trusting his brother. He tried many times to tell himself that Sirius was a good man it was his family that was poisoned and that he was different from them but the incident of the fifth year was forgiving not forgotten. He leaned into Sirius who was being hugged by Marlene as if her life depended on it.
Those who didn't know about Remus looked at the boy with trepidation. Augusta was going to ask but Sirius interrupted.
Sirius laughed with bitterness. — "That fucking Rat, he…when did he change, how long has he hated us…"
No one knew what to answer to that.
James shook his head. He didn't want to imagine, his brother going to that place, his hyperactive friend who could never stand still for more than five minutes. Who was always joking, He couldn't even imagine what the Dementors would do to him.
Molly sounded terrified— "But even if Remus didn't trust him enough. They really just threw him in there and forgot about him."
"OF COURSE THEY DID! — Sirius yelled making everyone jump—"Crouch is a fucking idiot. He wouldn't care who ended up there as long as it looked like he was doing his damn job."
"Remus tried to get Harry but Dumbledore didn't tell him where Harry was, just told him that Harry was safe. Greyback caused too much fear of Werewolves and the Laws became aggressive and almost inhuman. Remus had to leave the country multiple times. He spent more time in the mainland than here and lots of Death Eaters were able to get away."
Remus frowns and looked down, hoping his family didn't see how much that had hurt.
Augusta, the Tonks, the Weasley, and Kingsley all looked up.
"The what?"—Arthur finally manage to ask making Remus gasp and the Marauders stood up wand in hands.
"Oh please sit down"—A.P. said exasperated.—"Everyone, Remus is a werewolf no he's not dangerous right now, only during the full moon. Remus no one here will hurt you."—A.P. finished and the rest nodded in understanding though the atmosphere stayed tense.
Dumbledore knew they couldn't keep going like this, they needed to rest—"The room is under a time bubble. We can take months and once the bubble breaks only 24hrs would have passed. Go rest and we can start tomorrow, with Hogwarts time. Breakfast will be at 8:00 am."
Everyone nodded, and the Potters hugged each other before going their separate ways. Monty told Marlene to give some calming draught to Sirius. No one saw Dumbledore and Mad-eye staying behind.
"We let him be taken to that hellhole"—Alastor said.
"Yes but why. Albus Potter said some details change…"
"It must have been you…"
Dumbledore frowned but nodded, he sighed—"We will find out eventually"
Lily and James' bedroom…
The moment they both closed the door, Lily ran to her son. She didn't care if she woke him up and he started crying. She just wanted to hold him. She started sobbing again and turned around to look at her husband, who was leaning against the door, sliding down face between his hands crying.
"I failed you, I failed you. You shouldn't have died. You and Harry should have survived. I wasn't fast enough…"—He jumped when Lily sat down next to him.
"Shhh, you didn't fail me, Jamie. I'm sure you protected us the best you could. You gave me time to run. It was me who wasn't fast enough, we weren't expecting it, and we were expecting our friends…"—she said sobbing, leaning into her husband who wrapped his arms around her.
"He betrayed us, because of him we could have died. Because of him, we died. Doesn't matter if we are living this reality now, there's a reality out there where my son didn't grow up with us because one of my brothers…."—But James couldn't keep talking; his words got stuck in his throat.
"People like him pay for what they do. He will get what he deserves but if we seek revenge, we don't know what might happen to us. Look what happened to Sirius."
"Azkaban will destroy him"-He said cleaning his tears.
"If anyone can survive hell, is him"
"The first chapter and there is just too much death"
"But we can change it. Yes, there is a reality where our son grew up without us. Where his family isn't with him but…I know he will find them. Remus can't stay away forever…"
"What will happen to him, he barely lets us help him. He barely lets Dad give him money. What will he do without us, he can take care of himself but he so easily falls into his depression what will be of him…"
"We can't. We can't think about the what-ifs. And it saddens me that Harry will grow up with Petunia, I'm certain she will treat him poorly. I hope our deaths change her perspective of me. I hope she treats him better than she treated me."
Both of them just hold on to each other for a few moments.
James pressed his palm into his eyes— "No wonder Albus brought Marlene here. I can't imagine what she's dealing with right now."
"We can go and talk to them if you want to, go with Mom and Dad for a little while."
"No, I just want to be with you and Harry. I need you both close to me"
And with that, both of them went to sleep. Harry tightly snuggled between them. Lily fell asleep after James started humming a lullaby. He stared at his wife and son and vowed that no matter what happened to him, Lily would live to raise Harry.
