Krypton Writes: Yep, just bridging the gap between one to the next.
Wisestriker: All of the kids and Brooklyn House take one look at him and they're like 'He's basically a giant climbable teddy heck yeah!'. Especially Alex and Estelle. He will often find himself walking around with children just perching on his shoulders.

The six demigods left Brooklyn House in the evening.

There had been multiple delays that they hadn't planned on. Thalia and Bianca decided they needed to go and pick up some candy and sodas before they headed to camp. Sally had made ten batches of her cookies which Percy, Piper and Annabeth had helped pack.

Nico had been painfully bad at packing so Percy had needed to help him unpack and repack, since Bianca was out. They would only be staying at camp for a few days but he'd seemed convinced he'd need enough clothes to last a year. Then again given the way things were at Brooklyn House Percy couldn't blame him. Most of them had multiple outfit changes a day because there was always some sort of fire or paint explosion or similar disaster to destroy whatever they were wearing at the time.

And Percy had needed to have a talk with Luke before leaving.

She'd been casting protective spells each night before he went to bed since they'd gotten home. Kronos hadn't breached the spells yet but he was trying, both Percy and Luke could sense that much. Percy wasn't sure exactly what his end goal was there. He wouldn't be recruiting Luke back to his side.

It was more likely that he wanted to torture Luke with nightmares as vengeance for the betrayal. Which was fucking bullshit and an asshole move but well, Kronos was an asshole so that seemed pretty fitting.

He'd been somewhat concerned about what would happen to his dreams while she was gone.

Thankfully Percy had already thought of that and she was prepared, gifting him an amulet to wear while she was gone which should shield his dreams. Along with orders to make himself busy while Percy was gone. She was perfectly fine with him living at Brooklyn House and taking the time needed to clear his head but she also knew that sometimes a person needed to be busy, to occupy their mind.

And she was pretty sure that if Luke overthought everything he'd start spiralling and with his history that would be bad.

She made sure to tell Carter and Zia to keep an eye on him before they did eventually manage to get out.

Sally drove of course, a hired seven seater, and Percy sat in the back with Piper and Annabeth, Argos laid across their laps. He was getting so big even with his collar on. Without it he was big enough that Estelle and Alex had actually ridden him around the house once or twice- the size of a pony at least. And Argos always let them, he was soft as anything, her perfect puppy.

She had considered leaving him at home, but that had felt wrong. Argos always missed her when she was away. And she wanted to keep him closer to keep up with his training- which was going very well.

She'd gotten permission from Chiron first of course, but as soon as he'd agreed she'd made sure to pack his food into a cooler box which she set in the Duat. Along with the rest of their luggage.

When they did arrive at camp the group waved Sally off before commencing plan their plan to avoid the chaos when they arrived.

She'd prepared the Shabati beforehand, and it was easy enough to cast the invisibility spell before heading into Camp, giving Argos an invitation before they crossed the border and snuck into the Poseidon Cabin without anyone noticing.
Once they were there Percy let the spell drop and the group settled down for the evening, there were enough beds in the cabin for all of them, though Annabeth and Piper had huffed and pouted until Percy had helped them push two beds together.

They spent that evening laughing and joking together, munching on snacks and drinking soda, even letting Nico teach them more about his favorite card game, playing a few rounds of it.

Percy, Piper and Annabeth even spent a good hour or so telling stories from their own adventures and their time in school.

Thalia would be joining them once the break was over. She was already enrolled officially. Sally didn't waste time on things like that. She was about as efficient as was possible.

Eventually they all crashed, Percy finding herself being half carried to the two pushed together beds by her girlfriends- which she didn't complain about as she curled up in between them, letting her eyes close fully.

They were warm and safe and Percy really did love both of her girls. More than she had the words to say she knew.

She could hear Thalia, Bianca and Nico sorting out their own beds- she'd already offered to let Bianca and Nico sleep in her cabin since Hades didn't have one. And Thalia had muttered something about how she might have to join them for more than their impromptu sleepover. Apparently she wasn't the biggest fan of Zeus' cabin.

Given her strained relationship with her father Percy couldn't truly blame her for that.

And as Percy drifted off she found herself realising that she felt almost like herself again. And she let herself smile as she nuzzled in deeper beneath the blankets, pressing her face into Annabeth's shoulder, feeling Piper's arms wrap around her tighter.

The pain wasn't gone. But it felt more manageable with the distractions. And that was probably the best she could hope for for now.

And she had a dreamless sleep, she was woken only by the feeling of something tugging at the blankets, and a soft whining noise that was very familiar.

Percy lifted her head, peering towards the noise in the darkness- and there was Argos at the foot of the bed, eyes wide and pleading and really how could Percy resist that.

Thankfully Annabeth and Piper had released her during the night so she was able to slip out of the bed without disturbing them, dressing in the darkness by touch, managing to find some jeans and a warm jumper as well as her shoes, tugging them all on before padding towards the door, which she opened as quietly as she could, smiling slightly as Argos butted his head against her leg, tail snapping back and forth with a speed that showed his eagerness as she slipped outside, letting him follow her before shutting the door.

Annabeth and Piper were at least used to her slipping out early before they woke. She often took Argos on early morning walks. Not every day but often enough. And it was still dark out, though there was a soft glow from a fire that was in the centre of the ring of cabins. And- Percy blinked.

There was a girl sat in the fire. That seemed odd.

"Hello." She pitched her voice low, and the girl looked up, a wide smile forming on her lips as she gave Percy a small wave.

The girl was maybe nine or ten with long black hair that curled about her face just as Percy's own hair did, and her eyes- Percy blinked. They were red, like the fires she tended.

Percy hesitated before walking towards the girl, who smiled at her.

And there was something about those eyes and that smile. A kindness- and a power. "Persephone Kane." Her voice was as warm as her fire. "I've heard about you from our family. I hoped I'd get to see you but I didn't expect you to notice me yet."

"Our family… you're a goddess." Percy sat down by the hearth, Argos sitting next to her and resting his head on her lap.

"Hestia." The goddess gave a small nod. "I am. And you are Poseidon's beloved daughter who he believed lost."

"If I'd have known-"

"It wasn't your fault sweet one." Hestia's laugh reminded her of crackling logs in the hearth. Comforting and familiar. "A fact he well knows. I must say I'm impressed. You may not have won over Zeus but the fact that Poseidon and Hades seem to be much more friendly towards one another now is impressive. I didn't think it was possible but it seems they've formed a connection thanks to you."

"I- I mean I didn't really do anything special." Percy flushed, rubbing her neck sheepishly. "I was just trying to do the right thing. That's all I do."

"My siblings can be… difficult. And their children." Hestia looked sad, and it made Percy's heart ache as she curled her fingers into Argos' fur, anchoring herself. "All I've wanted for a long time is for them to get along. I love them all deeply but I've certainly had no real success. So I am impressed. You have Hades and Poseidon bonding and you've even won over Athena."

"Well like you said I didn't hit it off with Zeus so it's not like I'm that successful." Percy felt her face burning with… not embarrassment as such but a sort of shyness that was unlike her.

"Zeus is… difficult as I said." Hestia laughed, "And while you could have been more polite I can't say that I disagree with what you said my niece. You are a good person. Genuine, I appreciate that." Her expression turned sorrowful. "The path you're on won't be an easy one. None of us knows what is to come but that much I do know. Father is back, mortal or not he is still powerful and still a threat. And your fates are tied together by the Great Prophecy."

"I know." Percy bit her lip. "I-" perhaps she shouldn't say it but… she felt like she could trust Hestia. "I could have killed him. I could have killed him but Luke would have died."

"You chose to save one you care for. I do not blame you for that." Hestia pursed her lips. "And the Fates weave their tapestry as they will. Who can say what will come? I would not dwell on what is done now. It cannot be undone and your choice was one of compassion and love. I cannot say I disapprove. There are worse reasons to make choices. Do not let doubts plague your mind sweet child. You are a rare one amongst heroes."

"I am?"

"You do what you do not for glory or recognition but because it is what is right. You expect nothing in return for your actions. That is rare. It makes you different than most. And in being different you inspire others to try to be the same. Perhaps you will even inspire my family, though I fear that may be beyond even you, child of Chaos."

Percy's lips twitched. "Well the credit isn't all mine. My mom and dad raised me well. You do the right thing even if it's not easy and even if others disagree."

"Never change." Hestia's voice was firm. "You are the right person to stop father I have no doubt of that. Be brave and strong." She turned her gaze back to the fire, "Be kind and true. That is all the advice I can give you."

"Thank you."

"And niece."

"Yes?"

"When Hermes comes- and he will come, speak to him. He has flaws and he's made mistakes, but he is not purposely cruel. Perhaps what is fractured can be mended with your help. And perhaps your magic can heal that which ours has been unable to."

"What needs healing?" Percy blinked, brows furrowing but- but Hestia was gone, she was sat by the still warm fire alone.
Percy let out a huff, shaking herself. That had been… an interesting conversation. A little strange perhaps but better than some of her others.

"Well." She spoke after a long moment, turning her gaze down to her lap, where Argos lifted his head, giving her a pleading gaze. "You want to go on your walkies boy? Maybe there's some monsters in the woods for you to munch on."
