Stoick took the device in his hands and looked it over.

"Is this even safe to hold?" Stoick raised an eyebrow. Hiccup shrugged.

"I mean? Probably not the most dangerous thing you've ever held."

"You're right about that, I've held your mother's cooking." Hiccup thought he was joking and gave his dad a second to break and chuckle but it didn't happen.

"That bad?" Hiccup worried to asked.

"Not all the time but on bad days it would have been easier to eat rocks."

"Well okay then." Hiccup turned away and faced Skullcrusher "Take him down to the beach. Black and Blue should be waiting and we'll join you shortly after, I gotta grab something." Hiccup climbed onto Toothless. "Skullcrusher is going to take you to Black and Blue. We'll see you there." Hiccup leaned down to Toothless' ear. "Take us to the nest would ya? There's something else I need to give my dad." Both pairs dispersed and regrouped minutes later. As Toothless and Hiccup landed, Hiccup gave Stoick a leather bag.

"What's this?" stoick asked. "A bag?" He opened it and inspected the inside. "Is there some trick to this that I should know? Does it turn into a helmet or something?"

"Not everything I make has more than one purpose. I designed that bag to better keep out water. I mostly use it as a way to bring basic tools with me. But I figured you could put your clothes and the signal in it so they weren't soaking wet when you got to the ships."

"Well uh, you should turn around then. Don't need to see your old man naked."

Hiccup walked past him further down towards the water looking for the Seashocker. Unable to find them Hiccup whistled loudly and soon enough a pair of heads poked out of the water.

"You two ready?" Hiccup called out while they approached.

"Yes sir."

"Of course my alpha." The pair replied in unison.

"Good. Be safe out there. And not just because my father will be there with you. Guys, listen if something goes wrong, do not be afraid to turn around. I do not want you getting hurt, if we have to find another way we will."

"We'll get him there."

"We won't fail." Both heads gave Hiccup a serious look. "But, if something does go wrong we'll get back safely."

"Thank you." Hiccup smiled.

"We could always just fly him there if need be." Toothless chimed in.

"No, they'll be expecting us from the sky. Believe it or not there isn't a whole lot that those ships can do against water dragons. When I was on Berk very rarely did anyone talk about getting attacked by water dragons. It just wasn't really an issue for us so we didn't ever make anything to fight against them. I know that my dad was asked about it but didn't ever get passed that point, just seemed like a waste of resources to him. And I doubt they'd make any after we stopped attacking them. Probably haven't made anything new to fight against flying dragons. I'll have to ask Gobber but again it's just safer at the moment to do it this way."

"Mmm. I see. That does make sense." Toothless hummed.

"Plus, no matter how well my dad convinces them that it's safe, the moment you touch down on the deck everyone is going to freak out and try to kill us anyway. So it's really only safer for my dad and we'll probably have to defend ourselves a bit." Hiccup said casually.

"Great, I love getting stabbed at." Toothless rolled his eyes.

"I mean you have killed a bunch of their friends and family. They deserve a bit of stabbing at you for that."

"You're not helping your case here Hiccup."

"Look, they get to be mad at you. But just like everyone here, if you prove you're not a threat to them they'll learn to trust you, maybe even forgive you. The only obstacle that we're going to face is that they can't sympathize with you about being controlled. Everyone who was here during that understands that you couldn't resist and were forced into doing bad things. The humans will understand but won't be able to relate to it. At least not these ones."

"I'm not the only one you know. Others were forced to kill too." Toothless growled. Hiccup put his hand under his dragon's chin.

"I know." He soothed. "But the difference is you. They can point at you and say 'it was him'. But group up a bunch of Nadders or Nightmares or whoever else and they aren't going to know the difference. They can blame you but they don't know the difference between say Care and any other Nightmare.

I can't blame any of you for what you did. I know what happened. I've heard the stories. I've heard the pain and guilt and the apologies from so many of you guys. But right now they aren't going to care.

Listen, big guy. You're going to have to shoulder all the blame for the killing. I don't like it. Clearly you don't like it. But that's how it's gonna be for now. But when things work out everyone else is going to get a clean slate." Hiccup gave Toothless a sad smile. "And no matter what I'll always be there for you. I know the truth and so does everyone else."

"I know. I know, I know. It just feels like I'm being blamed for something that wasn't my fault to start with. And has already been dealt with."

"That's because you are. But it'll all be sorted out in the end, I promise." Hiccup pecked Toothless' snout.

"Thank you. I love you."

"More than I could ever put into words." Hiccup continued. Toothless pressed his head into Hiccup's stomach and Hiccup gently ran his hands over the dragon's head and neck.

"Well I think I'm ready." Stoick's grumbly voice broke the moment. "I hope I have this bag done up right." The pair broke away and Hiccup turned to his father, who promptly jumped and turned to hide himself. Hiccup rolled his eyes as he walked up to his dad and took the bag from his hands.

"How do you even have any sort of modesty left?" Hiccup asked as he unpacked the bag. He laid everything out and began to repack it properly.

"What do you mean?" Stoick asked.

"You act like I haven't heard every story about you."

"Gobber?" Stoick asked.

"Gobber."

"I was young. A good bit more outgoing than you were. And was willing to do a lot to impress the girls. Mostly your mother mind you. But I've regained my modesty back, and you have no need to see me in the nude. Besides you could do with a bit more modesty yourself."

"Clothes irritate my scales and get snagged on the edges. I tried for a while after changing but it's easier to just not wear any. Plus, this will sound odd, my dragons have access to my body. Since dragons do a lot of identifying with scent, it's easier for them to scent me without clothes. On top of that they can rub themselves against me to get my scent on them." Hiccup finished repacking the bag so water wouldn't get into it and handed it back to his father. "So they can be identified as part of my and Toothless' flock."
