Hiccup, along with everyone else present, walked down to edge of the beach and met up with Black and Blue. He knelt down and gave each head a good scratch under the chin.
"You two ready? This is your last chance to back out." He warned the Seashocker.
"We're ready."
"We're good."
"Dad, it's time." Stoick shuffled around and began to climb onto the back of the twin headed dragon. After some fiddling around and changing how he was sitting they found a compromise between secure and comfortable for both parties. With that settled it was time to go. "Okay just remember go under as you approach and get right onto the side of the outermost ship So you don't get spotted. If something goes wrong, get back here alive. We can always figure some else out if need be. And dad?"
"Yes son?"
"No matter what happens, thanks for coming here and giving this all a chance. I know it wasn't easy." Hiccup smiled.
"Don't worry Hiccup, I'll be back with some new friends soon." Stoick patted the Seashocker signaling for them to go and soon they disappeared into the fog.
Toothless rubbed himself against Hiccup.
"So what do we do now?" The Night fury asked with a whisper.
"We wait and see if we just gave away every secret our home holds."
"Don't trust him all of a sudden?"
"My dad may have been polite to us but he's a ruthless leader when he needs to be. If he doesn't actually believe we can work together then we're about to have a huge problem at our door."
"So what do we do about it?"
Hiccup frowned and sighed. "Get some people together to attack the ships."
"Are you sure? That's not like you."
"Our safety is more important than our alliance. If he's going to turn on us it's right now. Just… Get a team together to attack just in case."
"Want me to take you back up first?"
"Oh, yeah, thanks." Hiccup climbed onto Toothless' back and along with Skullcrusher they returned to the top of the mountain. "Anything new? Hiccup asked as they landed.
"No." Came Care's voice. Hiccup got off Toothless and picked up his monocular and began to search for his father in the water.
"Toothless you're free to get what we discussed set up."
"I think I'm good where I'm at."
"You trust my father all of a sudden?" Hiccup continued to look for Stoick in the water.
"As much as I did before. But I've realized that it'd be dumb for him to betray us now. Not with the rest of the humans still here. Especially uh G-, Gom, Gommer? Gobber!, Gobber. Especially with Gobber still here. I doubt he'd want to lose his blacksmith and best friend."
"How is it that you can remember every detail of someone but can't seem to remember their name?" Hiccup smiled.
"Cause human names are weird and don't mean anything. Like what does Gobber even mean? At least when you name us it's about who we are and not just some sounds thrown together and called a name when you're born."
"My name means something." Hiccup retorted.
"Not something good."
"I mean… no. But it does make sense."
"Sure but you're lucky you were able to make it into a good thing. Otherwise you'd just be a hiccup. Not Hiccup the traitor or whatever they surely call you back in your old village. Probably something much worse than that in reality."
"They can call me whatever they like. They used to do that anyway." He dropped the monocular from his eye and turned his head towards Toothless. "Besides I think we all know my name is Hiccup, the Night Fury's mate, or Hiccup the Alpha. And what my people call me is more important than what they do." He turned back and looked out over the water again. "You'd think it'd be easy to spot a big red ball out in the sea." He continued to scan along the area where he'd thought Black and Blue would go but couldn't find them. Hiccup had started to get concerned before he found them way off course. "What are they doing?" He asked himself.
"Something wrong?" Toothless asked.
"I don't know? They didn't head straight at the ships like I thought they would. But my dad doesn't seem distressed so nothing must be going wrong. I guess we'll just have to wait and see."
Down on the back of a Seashocker, Stoick fought to keep his grip and give the dragon instructions on where to go. He began to draw lines with his finger into their back.
"Brother, do you feel that?" Blue asked.
"It's the human right?
"I think so, what's he doing?" They waited for Stoick to do it again. "Oh, is it that thing Hiccup does? What does he call it, draw? Drawing!" Blue exclaimed.
"Okay, but is it for us or is he bored?"
"I don't think he'd be doing it randomly, it must be for us somehow. I'll pay attention while you guide us." Stoick did the pattern of lines again. But then went back and tapped one of the lines. Then repeated. "It must be something about what we're doing but I don't know for sure."
"Is it the ships you think?" Black wondered.
"The ships? The ships, the ships, yes." The pattern repeated. "He's drawing the ships and he wants us to take him to the middle one in the back."
"Great, the most dangerous one, how fun."
"It must be important though. He wouldn't give us the instructions otherwise, right?
"Do you trust him? Black's tone serious.
"Hiccup trusts him, brother." Blue replied confused.
"He's not here. Do you trust him? The one here with us."
"I don't… I don't know anything about him but if our alpha trusts him so do I." Blue stuck up for himself.
"Then we're on the same pages. Let's go." The pair began to glide through the water quickly, doing their best to keep Stoick's head above the surface.
"There they go." Hiccup commented.
"I wonder if something was wrong." Toothless commented.
"Whatever it was, they're going fast now." He continued to track his father. "Where are they going?"
"What's wrong?"
"I don't think there's anything wrong. But I figured they'd go towards the nearest ship but it looks like they're going to a different one."
"Trap?" Toothless asked.
"No. Doesn't seem like it." He paused. "Hmm. It's hard to tell but I don't think I recognize the figurehead of the ship in the middle."
"What does that mean?" Toothless asked confused.
"Hey Gobber, how many new ships have been built since I left?"
"Just one." He answered. "Haven't needed to make new ones since the dragon attacks stopped. Why?"
"You design it?"
"Aye."
"Anything special about it?"
"Just updated weapons from yo- from some old designs we had lying around."
"Should I be worried that my dad and one of my dragons are headed straight for it?"
"Well… It's definitely not good."
"Do I need to go save them?" Hiccup put down his monocular and looked at Gobber.
"Not if your dad's good on his word. And if he isn't it's too late now."
"That doesn't instill a whole lot of confidence."
"It's out of our hands son." Gobber stood with his arms crossed.
"Worried?" Hiccup asked lightly.
"You sent Stoick The Vast on the back of a dragon into a group of ships full of people who hate dragons. And he's going to try to convince them that since getting here he's been taught how to respect them. Not through force either mind you but trust." The large blond smith paused. "'E's not you boy. Not meant to trust em'."
