Chapter 25

-A few minutes earlier-

The moment Kagome bolted out of the teacher's lounge, Inuyasha contacted his brother.

"Sesshomaru, Moroha is in danger at the Higurashi Shrine. We need to get there immediately because the culprit is at the location." Inuyasha explains to his brother.

"Already there. What about Kagome?" Sesshomaru responds to him. "She just left the school. As such no one is going to take over her task to be a substitute for the rest of the day." Inuyasha adds in trying his best to remain so that his demon wouldn't take over.

"Ok. We'll surround the shrine." Sesshomaru said before hanging up.

Inuyasha turns to the principal. "Look, we'll explain later after I get my daughter out of harm's way. In the meantime, you should dismiss the school or find two substitute teachers to take over for the rest of the day." Inuyasha tells her before leaving the school.

-Current-

Inuyasha remains in the spot he parked his car by the shrine steps. "How? How could we have noticed this. There's no way someone would be able to know about this." He growls darkly. He thought he had it all figured it out. The game they were playing with the information Riku provided them with.

"Moroha…" He gets out of the car. "Don't, Inuyasha." Sesshomaru stops his brother. Inuyasha turns to see Sesshomaru walking up to him. "Were you aware of this?" Inuyasha questioned him coldly.

Sesshomaru shakes his head. "I was just informed by Rin. I would never have guessed it was the one teacher in the targeted school who did this. The motive is still beyond me."

"I need to get to my daughter. There's no telling what the culprit will do to her." Inuyasha is about to make a leap up the stairs but Sesshomaru got there before him. "Kagome is up there with the suspect." He reminds him.

"Just her." Inuyasha confirmed him back.

"Misako isn't alone on this. The girl who came to Kagome is her accomplice. She's a hostage within." Sesshomaru adds in.

"Moroha is in the accomplice's grasp. I'm not staying out here and let them hurt Moroha." Inuyasha cracks his knuckles to show Sesshomaru that he's dead serious about his daughter's safety.

Moroha is under her bed upstairs on the second floor of the house. She made sure she locked the door and windows of the room before going under the bed. 'Mommy, Daddy.' She whimpers quietly. She is absolutely scared about what just happened. It wasn't long after lunch that the doorbell rang and Mrs. Higurashi answered the door to see someone she never met.

Moroha instinctively sniffed that the visitor wasn't nice and went upstairs. According to Kagome, whenever Moroha was able to detect a bad scent of a person she goes upstairs to her room and hide under the bed until it was safe for her to come out. 'Grammy, I hope you're ok.' She pleads in her mind.

"So tell me where is the kid?" Saki demands Mrs. Higurashi. Saki has her knife to the woman's neck. , being tied up to a chair in the living room. "I'm not fooling around here, I have to know where she is." She threatens.

"I won't tell you." Mrs. Higurashi refuses to answer. Saki isn't convinced. She looks around the room and can see that it's just the two of them. "You know… I happened to figure out exactly where the brat it." She grins wickedly. "I've seen scenes like this before. Whenever a child is hiding, they go to the easiest spot in the house. And for their small size, they can practically fit anywhere."

Mrs. Higurashi remains quiet. "And I know for a fact that she's a quarter demon." Saki smirks. Mrs. Higurashi doesn't change her expression. "Trying to do the brave act, I can see you're perfectly aware about a fatal flaw when it comes to a quarter demon's life. Not just hers, but also her father who happens to be a half demon with the same scenario." Saki scoffs in the end.

"What are you trying to do here?" Mrs. Higurashi asks her calmly. "I'm just doing what my boss told me to do. Eradicate the two individuals who have demon blood coursing through their bodies." Saki simply answers the question.

"But there has to be a reason behind all of this? A motive, objective." Mrs. Higurashi points out.

"Unfortunately, I don't know it myself. It's for my sake as well as my brother's." Saki shrugs her shoulders. "As such I might as well get the brat and make her suffer." Saki leaves the room and goes up the stairs.

From what Saki sees is that there's two doors in her direction. One is open to show her that the bathroom is the first one. Which means that the closed door at the end of the hallway is definitely the room Moroha is hiding. She turns the knob to find it locked. "Hmm, trying to lock me out won't do you any good." Saki digs into her coat pocket to get a thin line to lock from the hold on the outside of the door.

Moroha whimpers, 'Oh no. She's almost here.' She covers her head. But then she remembers something.

Flashback

Moroha was being told about hostage situations whenever she is, go under the bed. "Remember Moroha, you're a quarter demon and you need to use that to survive. I know that this bedroom is on the second floor of the house. Step one is to make sure you're in a locked room from the doors and windows." Kagome explained to her. Moroha nods. "Now if the locked door is going to be unlocked from out of this room by the bad guy, you are to flee from this window here. Don't look back and keep on running."

End of Flashback

Moroha gathers her courage and gets to the window that was locked from the inside so that no one could break into the house through the window. She turns the latch and flees out of the window right before the door flung open for Saki to grab her. Moroha lands on the ground on her leg and screams in pain. That alone made someone shout. "MOROHA!"

Moroha holds in her cries as she tries to run from Saki. 'Someone's here.' She thought in freight. She can tell by a new scent close by. So far she only knew about Saki's scent. But this one is new to her. However, it has a bit of Saki's scent with it. She sniffs the area until a snap of dead twig gets her attention.

"Please. Don't kill me." Moroha begs bravely. Out comes someone Moroha never seen before. It was Sentaro Hutome. "I have no intention to hurt." He said to her. Moroha steps back until she's at the wall of the house.

"Don't come any closer." Moroha tells him as bravely as she can, but deep down, she's scared. "I'm being held hostage. Well, me and Saki." Sentaro said to her as he sat down a few feet away from her. "But Saki has my Grammy tied down and is after me." Moroha points out to him.

"Yes. I know. But she's doing this to keep me and her safe." Sentaro said back. "Why are you two being held hostage? Do you have something precious?" Moroha asks him curiously.

"No. I'm to prevent you from escaping this place. I was told that if you were to get out of the house, I'm to keep you here while Saki keeps your Grammy from leaving as well."

Moroha didn't see anything bad about the guy. "You must be her older brother." She tells him. Sentaro nods to confirm it.

"Yes, Saki is my little sister. We were orphans until someone adopted the both of us." Sentaro said sadly. "Who was it that adopted you two?" Moroha asks him.

"Dr. Jurino. The very same doctor who was supposed to take care of you when you got sick. But something happened."

Moroha widens her eyes. "But she's in with police being questioned."

"Yes, me and Saki both know about it. But she wasn't the one who told us about you and your family."

Moroha is confused. "If she wasn't the one who told you about me, then who?"

Sentaro is about to answer until someone shoots a taser at the little girl, making her scream and knocking her out.

"You've done well, Sentaro." Misako grins at the scene. Sentaro doesn't say a word as he sees Misako has Kagome, unconscious, tied up and tossed her to the little girl.

"All that's left is the father. And you know he's not going to be easy to take down." Misako explained to him. "And for Grammy. Saki has her unconscious. If anyone were to know that it was me who did this, you were to knock them out."
