Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 10 of Wings of the Fae. I want to thank those who have left the reviews on this story. It truly does mean a lot to me that you guys are enjoying this story. Reviews have been very helpful in keeping my muse going when it comes to writing. I still have one Hobbit story that I need to finish. It'll take time because it is going under a revamp once again. But I'm hoping that it turns out well. Without further ado Chapter 10. ENJOY!

Chapter 10

A few days go by since Thorin tried to talk to Win without success. His mood had greatly soured since she had pushed him away this time. His heart felt like it had broken inside of his chest when she had told him that he was to find a Darrow queen if they got Erebor back and she was to be nothing in his life.

They stopped at an old, abandoned farmhouse that was destroyed.

Thorin looked at his company. "We'll camp here for the night. Fili, Kili, look after the ponies. Make sure you stay with them."

Gandalf touched the ruins of the old farmhouse seeing that this was not a good site to camp. "A farmer and his family used to live here."

"Oin, Gloin."

"Aye?" Gloin questioned looking at his king.

"Get a fire going."

"Right, you are."

Gandalf turned his attention to Thorin. "I think it would be wiser to move on. We could make for the Hidden Valley."

"I have told you already, I will not go near that place." Thorin snapped out in anger. He didn't want to go there. He didn't want to be near the elves that he had been tormented by for so many years.

Win looked over at Thorin knowing that this wasn't a good thing. She knew that the day that the dwarves were chased out of Erebor it just wasn't his kind, it was her kind too, but she learned to let it go. Not all elves were bad.

"Why not? The elves could help us. We could get food, rest, and advice."

"I do not need their advice," Thorin said with a shake of his head.

"We have a map that we cannot read. Lord Elrond could help us."

"Help? A dragon attacks Erebor, what help came from the Elves? Orcs plunder Moria and desecrate our sacred halls, the Elves look on and do nothing. You ask me to seek out the very people who betrayed my grandfather and betrayed my father."

"You are neither of them. I did not give you that map and key for you to hold on to the past."

"I did not know that they were yours to keep."

Gandalf stomped away in anger from Thorin. He could not believe that Thorin was this stubborn.

Win came over slowly to Thorin. "He has a point." She pointed out softly. "You are neither your father nor grandfather. You are Thorin… Lord Elrond holds nothing against the dwarves compared to the others… We could get the very help we need. We are starting to run low on things."

Thorin's hand went up into the air, silencing her.

Win felt her anger rise as his hand went up. She couldn't believe that he was going to be an asshole to her.

"I will not go there, Win."

Win let out a huff turning on her heels and sprouting her wings before lifting off of the ground and flying away. "Asail."

Balin let out a breath watching Win fly away. He couldn't believe that Thorin even dismissed what she had said. Perhaps Gandalf and Win wouldn't return for quite some time.

Aurora took a breath shaking her head lightly knowing that this wasn't a good sign.

"They are coming back aren't they?" Bilbo asked softly.

Shaylee looked over at Bilbo from where she stood with Linetta who was unpacking some of the food from her bag. "Well… knowing Gandalf perhaps he will return… Win… she has the stubbornness of the Winter Fae."

"Meaning?"

"Far less forgiving," Linetta said, looking at Bilbo. "As faes go, Spring is the most forgiving, followed by Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Winter can be forgiving unless there is some major damage done… And Thorin… well he has hurt her this time…"

"You mean…"

"Can't you tell by how he looks at her and she looks at him?" Lintetta questioned Bilbo, her brows raised. "He loves her and she loves him… but they're both too stubborn to admit it." Linetta moved to take some of the food to Bombur. "Here you go Bombur."

"Thank you Linetta," Bombur said, offering the fae a huge smile.

Linetta smiled. "Anytime Bombur. Anytime." She said flitting back to where she was before.

Bilbo took a breath as he looked over at Thorin. How was he supposed to help when things seemed to be falling apart around them? He could tell that Throin was a good leader… as well as a few of the others… The fae seemed like leaders even though they were following only Thorin.

Linetta looked at Bilbo. "Don't worry about Thorin's problems… Gandalf will return in due time. He just needs to let off some steam in trying to figure out what is the best path to take."

Aurora flitted over to the other faes. "Don't you feel it?" She questioned softly looking at the other two fae knowing that they hopefully would feel the same thing that she felt.

"A darkness," Shaylee said looking up. "Darker than what should be in these lands."

"Aye," Linetta said, looking at the two girls. "Something that we'll have to keep a close eye on."

"A darkness?" Bilbo questioned rather concerned about the whole thing coming over to the three of them.

Aurora forced a small smile on her lips knowing that they needed to keep things on the down low because they didn't need their Hobbit escaping because of danger. "Nothing to worry about Bilbo."

Bilbo swallowed the lump in his throat knowing that something was up. "You wouldn't lie would you?"

"Fae aren't meant to lie," Linetta said smoothly. Lying was a thing that they tried to stay away from. But they needed to lie at that moment to keep things calm. It was the only way to keep things moving.

"They aren't?"

"No."

Bilbo took a breath knowing that was a good sign. If faes couldn't lie like the other beings in the world then that was a good sign that they were good people. Something that he could get behind on.

This is the end of Chapter 10. I hope that you guys enjoyed this chapter. I tried my best to add extra tidbits to it to make it longer. Thorin kind of stuck his foot in his mouth, didn't he? Will they be able to mend their friendship even more? Only time will tell on that. Who do you think will open up to having feelings towards one another? Please leave a review and let me know what you think of this chapter. Reviews help me keep going when it comes to writing. I know that this is probably not the best chapter written for this story, but I'm trying. I can't wait to show you guys what happens next. I hope to have the next chapter out soon. Until next time.
