Chapter 12
"Where did you go to, if I may ask?" Thorin questioned looking at Gandalf knowing fully well enough that Win was still rather upset with him. But he had admitted that it was a good thing to see her breaking them out of their sacks.
"To look ahead," Gandalf said rather easily.
"What brought you back?"
"Looking behind. Nasty business. Still, they are all in one piece."
"No thanks to your burglar."
"The fae had the nous to play for time. None of the rest of you thought of that." Gandalf said, looking at him.
Thorin let out a breath looking at the statues of the trolls.
Fili came over to Shaylee with a curious look on his face. "Thank you."
Shaylee turned her head to look at Fili. "For what?" She questioned tilting her head to the side wondering what he could be possibly thanking her for.
"For what you girls did," Fili admitted softly with a small smile.
"Oh, the throwing our voices off?" She questioned with a cheeky smile.
Fili's cheeks flushed slightly. "Yeah. You did very well." He admitted softly.
"It's one of the things that fae love doing… especially when we want to cause some mischief." She mused with a smile.
"You like causing mischief?"
"More than a little." She said with a wink. "It is like that with all fae. They just have different degrees of what type of mischief they like to cause."
Fili let out a hum as he looked at the strawberry blonde haired fae. He had to admit that she was rather different from what he had expected.
Win moved past them to Gandalf looking at the statues. "They must have come down from the Ettenmoors." She said, crossing her arms and looking rather distasteful at the stone statues.
Thorin took a breath looking at Gandalf wondering how this could be possible. "Since when do mountain trolls venture this far south?"
"Oh, not for an age, not since a darker power ruled these lands." Gandalf said, shaking his head thinking. It had been such a long time since a thing had happened and there was no way that it possibly could be happening now unless there were problems starting to grow and no one noticed it just yet.
The two of them looked meaningfully at each other.
"They could not have moved in daylight."
Thorin turned and looked around. "There must be a cave nearby."
"A hoard nearby means we're going to be going into a place where it smells," Win said, shuddering slightly. If it was one of the things that fae had, they couldn't handle bad stench for too long without getting sick.
"We don't have much of a choice Win. We have to find out where they were, to begin with."
She swallowed the lump in her throat. "I know."

The company found the large cave nearby and entered it seeing the treasure that the trolls had been hoarding.
Nori held his nose as the four fae backed out of the cave. "Oh, what's that stench?!"
"It's a troll hoard. Be careful what you touch." Gandalf said as he entered the cave.
The three younger fae looked at the eldest of them with relief.
"We're glad you're back," Shaylee said softly, looking at Win.
"I wasn't going to be gone long," Win said as she crossed her arms. "I just needed time to cool down…"
"Thorin really upset you didn't he?" Linetta questioned softly, putting her hand on Win's shoulder.
Win let out a breath. "It's not like it matters."
"But…"
"Enough. I don't want to really talk about it. Okay?"
The three fae girls looked at each other in concern. They knew that this wasn't a good sign if she was so bitter. It meant that something was going to give and it wasn't going to end well.
"Let's get out of this foul place. Come on, let's go. Bofur! Gloin! Nori!" Thorin called out as he stepped out of the cave carrying a new sword in his hands.
Win raised a brow seeing the style wasn't dwarven make or even that of man, nor fae which meant that it was of elvish make. She was rather surprised that he was even holding such a thing in his hands when he had stated many times he didn't like anything to do with elves.
Aurora looked up. "Do you hear that?"
The three fae grabbed their swords that were on their sides.
"Something is coming this way… and fast," Win said as she gripped the handle of her sword tightly in her hand.
"Stay together! Hurry now. Arm yourselves." Gandalf ordered as he went into the woods with the company. Bilbo follows slowly behind them into the woods.

This is the end of Chapter 12. I hope that you guys enjoyed this chapter. I tried my best to add in extra scenes for this chapter to make it longer, but sadly this turned out to be one of my shorter chapters which I dislike happening, but I tried my best. I didn't want to add in Radagast just yet, which will be the next chapter. Which we're getting closer to them arriving in Rivendell which I am excited about. I can't wait to show you guys what happens next. Please leave a review and let me know what you think of this chapter. Reviews help me keep going when it comes to writing. I hope to have the next chapter out soon. Until next time.
