Nurse's Office (Day)
The first thing Midoriya saw upon waking up was the smiling face of Dominic staring down at him. "Wakey wakey, milk some snakey!" the blonde cheerfully greeted.
"AGH! What are you doing here!?" Midoriya asked, shocked to see his classmate.
"Well, after seeing your borderline masochistic performance against Sero, I thought I'd pay you a visit." Dominic explained. "Show me your hand." he asked, confusing the greenette.
"Okay..." Midoriya said, holding out his arm.
"Well, at least it isn't broken beyond what Comfey can heal." Dominic said, tossing a Poke Ball into the air. This released the small Pokemon, and as soon as it laid eyes on Midoriya's wound, it flew straight to his hand.
"Who's this?" the injured boy asked. Dominic gladly quoted the Pokedex entry for the Alolan Pokemon.
"Comfey, the Posy Picker Pokemon. Type: Fairy. Comfey picks flowers with its vine and decorates itself with them. For some reason, flowers won't wither once they're attached to a Comfey. Baths prepared with the flowers from its vine have a relaxing effect, so this Pokémon is a hit with many people."
"Wait, are you going to heal my wound?" Midoriya asked the Pokemon, who nodded vehemently in response. "But, I thought I couldn't be healed all at once without-"
"Various Pokemon possess the ability to heal themselves and others." Dominic interrupted. "And unlike Recovery Girl, they don't use the target's own nutrients as fuel. Comfey, use Floral Healing." Nodding, Comfey removed its lei and put it around Midoriya's wrist. As if by magic, his wounds starting glowing pink before closing. "Now try flexing it."
Midoriya did as he was told, and to his shock, didn't feel any pain at all when he did so. "Wow! Thanks, Xiao-Long!"
"Now, before I leave, I need to ask you something." the blonde said, sending Comfey back to its Poke Ball. "What exactly is your Quirk?"
That shut Midoriya up. How could he respond without giving away One For All's secret? Eventually, he found an explanation. "It's called Super Power. I can fill my body parts with energy, which lets me punch with the force of a bomb blast. The only downside is that every time I use it, I break whatever bone I was using. I've gotten better, but, well, you saw my battle."
"Hmm. How have you been controlling it thus far?" Dominic asked, curious.
"Oh, I've been imagining my Quirk as an egg in a microwave." Midoriya said with a smile. "Every time I turn on my Quirk, the egg swells with light before exploding! It's lame, I know. But it works for me."
"Don't worry. I've used far lamer to learn how to master my own skills." Dominic assured, bringing out his Pokedex. "Now, while I've never seen anything with powers quite like yours, I have encountered something similar. Take a look." The blonde showed the entry he brought up to his classmate.
"Raichu, the Mouse Pokemon. Type: Electric. Because so many Trainers like the way Pikachu looks, you don't see this Pokemon very often. It can discharge bursts of electricity exceeding 100,000 volts- a single strike with that amount of power would incapacitate one of the Copperajah of my homeland. It turns aggressive if it has too much electricity stored in its body. It discharges power through its tail."
"I don't understand." Midoriya said.
"Sorry bout that." Dominic said, apologetic. "What I'm trying to say is: What if you just never turned your Quirk off?"
"What?" the greenette asked, confused.
"Your problem is that you're filling your limbs with energy and then removing it, and because of the sudden withdrawl, it shatters your bones." the blonde explained. "If you kept Super Power active constantly, your body would gradually adapt to the energy. Eventually, you'll master your Quirk." After that, Dominic left the room.
Midoriya pondered this advice in the absence of the blonde, activating One For All and spreading it across his entire body.
That day, the Ninth Holder came one step closer to surpassing his predecessor. But he was still centuries away from surpassing the one who showed him how.
1A Waiting Room (Day)
Unsurprisingly, Todoroki beat Kaminari. The blonde's Quirk was useless against the monochrome-haired boy for two reasons. 1: He's an idiot with an IQ level that a walnut could beat. 2: Water, while commonly known as a conductor of electricity, is no better at conducting than the ground. It's the salts in the water that make electricity flow through it well. Since Todoroki's Quirk freezes the air around him, there aren't any salts. And if that weren't enough, ice doesn't conduct electricity well even WITH the salt. Kaminari was doomed the second he was pitted against Todoroki.
The next match was Iida and Hatsume. And, much like Dominic predicted, it ended very badly for the former. Iida did end up winning, but only because Hatsume forfeited. If she truly wanted to win, she would've. And while she didn't leave with the win, she did leave with Iida's dignity. After that was Aoyama vs Ashido. Spoiler, the pinkette won without any issue.
Next was Tokoyami against Yaoyorozu. Dominic was actually caught off-guard when the onyx-haired girl lost so badly. He expected someone with the power to make literally anything to be able to outsmart or overpower anyone. The blonde had battled using several Pokemon with similar abilities, like Ditto or Type: Full, and never lost once with them.
And then came Tetsutetsu vs Kirishima. Dominic may have jinxed himself when he hoped that it wouldn't end like Metapod vs Metapod.
The last battle of the first round was Uraraka vs Bakugo. His classmates may have thought that Bakugo was being cruel during the fight, but Dominic respected the way he battled. As a matter of fact, he saw a bit of himself in the Explosion-user. The same ego, the same amount of sheer defiance, and even the same Element. If things went the way he wanted them to go, he'd end up facing Bakugo later in the tournament.
After the explosive battle, Round 2 started up. And the first matchup was Xiao-Long vs Todoroki. With a manic grin, Dominic walked out onto the pitch with a Poke Ball in hand.
