Chapter 56
→ Re-Estize / Renner ←
It was a calm night when Renner slowly awoke. Spiders crawled all over her face and the entire room was covered in them. Immediately, and carefully, Renner woke up and prepared everything as much as possible. While the spiders slowly retreated she prepared tea and biscuits. Seats were arranged. The room was locked and Renner made herself presentable.
She knew Climb was outside, thus she decided to send him away to make some errands.
Renner was finished and waited for a few minutes, when the familiar portal appeared and Lady Albedo and Hilma calmly walked out. Hilma was the first and began to kneel beside her. Albedo then came through, basked a bit and then took a seat.
"Good evening. We can go to our next stage of the plan. Is everything prepared?" Albedo asked.
"It is, Lady Albedo." Renner answered and gathered some papers.
Albedo took and looked over them.
"Hmm. This is quite fortunate that your father is ill that long." Albedo mused.
"It presents a great opportunity. If we go with the plan there, we could pump more out of this kingdom." Renner agreed.
"We are already moving the provisions out of the kingdom and towards E-Rantel." Hilma threw in.
"Not necessary. Move the provisions in the south and west towards Roble." Albedo ordered.
"It will be done." Hilma nodded as fast as humanly possible.
"Then there is the mass-exodus from Re-Estize…" Albedo sighed and massaged her forehead.
"How can we help in that regard?" Renner inquired.
"You can't help, as they are just a big amount of paperwork. Otherwise it is great for the plan. Are there any adventures left in Re-Estize?" Albedo inquired.
"As far as my network tells me no. The nobles use mercenaries to protect their mansion. The commoners, the ones that stay anyway, are organizing themselves. Just as predicted by our great lady." Renner reported and saw Albedo's mood lighten.
"That is good for us. A happy Lady Albedo isn't going to keel us over." Renner read in Hilmas eyes.
"Lady Arachama also brought a new plan forth. Hilma, here are the parts you need to focus on. And Renner, you will support Gazef after he finds himself in a sticky situation." Albedo ordered.
"Of course. But how are we making sure I can help him? The current plan will be hard in that regard. Except…" Renner thought loudly.
"That will be hard. Even with the fool on the throne." Hilmas' scared eye looked at Albedo.
"Vae victis. Those are your orders." Albedo glared and Hilma nodded, faster than before.
Renner meanwhile glanced at the orders, after getting an approving nod from Albedo.
"I guess that Lord Ainz Ooal Gown will be a concerned neighbor?" she inquired.
"Of course. The safety of the people is of the highest concern, as long as the fool in charge doesn't do something stupid." Albedo smiled and Renner fell into her own natural smile.
"Of course. I guess that I can take him with me. But it might be advantageous to gather…" she started.
"Read the part I gave you." Albedo snickered and Renner was intrigued afterwards.
"That will be a walk in the park." Renner laughed.
"As I thought. Now we only need to get an idiot to start our charade." Albedo sighed.
"I might know a fool even greater than the current ruler." Hilma groaned.
"Is that the case?" Albedo asked, leveling a cold glare.
"Yes. Baron Philip might be of use." Hilma responds, obviously torn between fear and resignation.
"Then it will be done as soon as possible." Albedo ordered.
"As you wish, Lady Albedo." Renner and Hilma confirmed and soon Albedo used the usual portal to retreat.
Renner cleaned afterwards and went to bed again. The last thoughts traveling to her Climb and her future.
→ Arwintar Nazarick-mansion / Arachama ←
In the early morning a stirring and persisting nudge proved too much for the sleep Arachama was enjoying. Slowly she opened her eyes and squinted into the sunshine of her living room. Zesshi, who was wide awake and trying to get out of her hug, was obviously guilty of nudging her awake and she smiled.
The ensuing hug lasted for quite some time until Arachama, with the grumbling approval of Zesshis and her own stomach, agreed to go to breakfast. There Zesshi was able to escape her hug, as Enti sneaked her way into her lap. During breakfast Arachama prepared a can of coffee, guessing that she will need the intoxication. Otherwise she ate her usual and enjoyed listening to the kids.
After breakfast Arachama asked Zesshi to remain behind, which caused said girl to shudder.
"I did nothing wrong." she asserted.
"Suspicious, but I don't have much time." she thought and grabbed something in her inventory.
"It is nothing of that sort, though you made me curious." she hummed as she got her daughter in a hug.
"Puh. How can I help you mother?" Zesshi inquired.
"Nothing to help. I got you some things, as a present." she mused and gave Zesshi a new booklet with sudoku and a book on poisons and counterpoisons.
"That is great. Thank you." Zesshi thanked as she immediately hugged the book as tight as possible, a glimmer in her eyes.
"No problem." Arachama smiled and planted a kiss on the daughter's forehead.
"Still. I just finished the other one." Zesshi grinned aloof.
"Then I know a great place…" Arachama began, but before she could finish Zesshi wasn't there anymore.
"Why do they run away like that? I only thought that she could go with me to the office." she shrugged in her mind.
After collecting Arche, who wasn't hard to find, she used "Gate" to get to her office.
Albedo was already there, working on some paperstacks, when she made her appearance. Dutifully, more or less, she took her seat and began to slowly work through the enemy.
→ Arwintar Imperial-palace / Arachne ←
While her old-mother was probably running around the mansion and watching her children, probably too closely as well, Arachne was relaxing after last night. The proposal, while perfect in itself, brought a new wave of tension for her. Her fiance on the other hand, as her rock in the waves, was relaxed.
"Do you think white and blue or should the roses be white and pink?" she asked, trying to get him to pay more attention to the most important details of their wedding.
"All will be alright. The most important and beautiful detail is already taken care off." he responded.
"So what will be served? Sparkling wine or normal wine?" she asked, knowing where he will try to steer this.
Jircniv rolled his eyes at her with a smirk.
"As long as you are my empress after the wedding, the details aren't necessarily important to me." he sighed as he pulled her closer towards him.
She snickered and relaxed into it.
"Are you sure? Maybe we could use this as a promotion or to send a message?" she inquired.
"If that is the case, then we can have a traditional wedding. Luckily that is easy to organize. The only thing you would need to worry about is the food." he laughed as she found herself pouting.
"But where is the fun in that?" she asked and both snickered.
"True. That wouldn't be good. How about this? Normally, in traditional circumstances, the bride wears an orange or yellow dress and the ring on her left ring finger. On the first day we would get the wedding and the celebrations with friends and family. I would have to carry you through the door and then we would finally rest together. The second day is to celebrate in a big party. All of that roughly a week after the proposal." he giggled as she blushed at the 'rest together'-part.
"That would be great. But what about the roses, the food and the guests?" she asked.
"Let me take care of that and relax for once. You woke me up three times already for those questions." he giggled and kissed her forehead.
"Ok. But I want to know every detail." she pleaded, an involuntary pout visible.
"Of course." he promised and pecked her cheek.
→ Re-Estize Royal-palace / Renner ←
After the meeting in the middle of the night, Renner slept in and lounged later. Climb was dear to her and brought her breakfast.
"How I can't wait to finally have this every morning, my little pup." she thought and munched on bacon.
After breakfast she made herself ready and prepared her table, snacks and tea for Gazef. Climb was soon sent to retrieve the chief warrior. Meanwhile she glanced over her sources and was surprised how fast Hilma was working. Already rumors spread about a potential plot against the king and prince. It even reached some of the upper levels.
"Puh. She must fear Lady Albedo, but who would be insane enough not to. Though Hilma is cleverly using the spies within the palace, fear is a great motivator sometimes." Renner mused.
Soon enough a knock was heard and Renner bade the one responsible in. Gazef walked inside and bowed towards her.
"My Princess, how may I serve you?" he asked.
"I got some troubling news, dear chief warrior. Rumors about a plot against my dear father are spreading. Due to them involving you, I fear they are used to weaken our kingdom. Thus I wanted to think about saving our kingdom from such folly." she explained, playing to her concern.
"What? How didn't I…?" he stuttered.
"You might want to sit. Then we will talk and make a plan. Without father the plan we had to save our beloved kingdom will fall sooner rather than later." she fearfully sighed.
He did as she asked and took place.
"I trust that you handpicked the guards of my dear father?" she inquired.
"With my life," he promised.
"Great. Then we should plan ahead. I got my hands on some troubling news. A close advisor to my brother is planning to remove both of them. Sadly I think my brother is already too close to said advisor. But we can save my father." she explained.
"Those are grievous accusations…" he began.
"Eight Fingers is involved in this, Gazef Stronoff. I am warning you right now. No, I am imploring you. Take your oath seriously. Who do you serve? Country or King?" Renner mock-begged.
"Who is the schemer?" Gazef asked, as his eyes got their steel back, which it had lost when Ramposa got ill.
"That Baron upcoming. Philip Montserat is his name?" she responded and the warrior stood up.
"I wouldn't do that, if I were you." she threw in, eyes widened.
"But my king, your father. What else…? You already plan something, don't you?" he responded, counting two and two together.
"Indeed. Though we have to take a loss in that matter, I believe it will save the kingdom. Will you hear me out?" Renner smiled at him.
"Can you explain the plan to me?" Gazef sighed and placed the sword back
"We need to prepare a retreat. Make father as easy to transport as possible. I will get a coach. Tonight we will make our tactical retreat. Once this whole situation is cleared we will return. Sadly my oldest brother isn't likely to survive, but Zanac is a better heir to the throne as that pig of a prince." Renner told him and Gazef nodded, though he was slightly shocked.
"Then I better start." he replied and stood up.
"Indeed. We need to be finished this evening. Climb, did you learn to drive a carriage, like I told you to do?" Renner inquired while Gazef left the room.
"Yes, Princess Renner." Climb confirmed.
"That is great. The less people know the smoother we can pull this off." she smiled at him.
"Shall I prepare the carriage then, or do you need help with your luggage?" he asked.
"I already prepared some of it this morning. The bare essentials are in that chest there and a small chest is on it. It contains food and drink. But be careful." she looked at him, showing fear in her eyes.
Her puppy reacted accordingly and showed determination in its eyes.
"Like I trained him to. Just the thought that all this determination is for me and only for me. It is great. Don't fret my pet, only a little while longer." she thought.
"Yes, Princess Renner." Climb answered and grabbed the chests and left the room in a hurry.
"I need to contact Hilma. Some preparations need to be done…" she told one of the spiders after the room was locked again. The spiders moved immediately and formed messages for her and Hilma.
→ Re-Estize / Barbo ←
The last few days had been stressful for the mighty Barbo. First was that ninja-rat-men who, to his own fear, always showed itself at an opportune moment. It wasn't obvious. But he sometimes saw movement in his peripheral view. Sometimes a tail that was visible for a few moments before it disappeared.
"I need to hire some adventurers after I am done with the situation at hand." he thought, already loathing those beasts.
The other thing that he hated at the moment was something dire and the reason he had ordered his trusted advisor, Baron Philip Montserrat, to gather a certain commoner. Said commoner was one of the leaders of eight fingers, which had helped and sponsored him over the years.
Only a short while after he was finished observing himself in the mirror, and praying that the rats stayed away, he heard a knock.
"Come in." he ordered and Hilma and Philip entered.
They bowed and he ordered them to stand up.
"My advisor has given me grave news. As we both know of your network, I wanted to know if said rumors are accurate." he ordered, raising his nose slightly to look more prestigious.
"What rumors would that be, my king?" Hilma asked, giving him a glance at her cleavage.
"We heard that Gazef Stronoff is planning to kill the king. Thus the crown is investigating those claims." Philip replied in the name of the king.
Hilma looked at them for a moment, but collected herself fast enough that he almost missed it.
"Those rumors are true, my king. He tried to hire some of our men. I don't know if he was successful or not." she reported.
"Then we better hope that he wasn't, unless we can come to an agreement." Barbo threw in.
Hilma looked at him, giving him more of a show.
"How may that be, mighty king Barbo?" she asked in a sultry tone.
"We would need a witness to get him for high-treason. Of course you would be willing to do that, wouldn't you?" Barbo inquired, already feeling more powerful than before.
"Finally I can get rid of that commoner. Maybe I can get one of my friends into that position. They earned it more due to their position." he thought.
"Of course. Anything else?" she asked.
"Yes. You will remain here for further talkies. Philip, could you take care of the lodgings? If I remember correctly the court will meet tomorrow." Barbo ordered and a knowing Philip exited the room.
"Now then Hilma, I think we need some more 'talking'." Barbo smirked.
→ Arwintar Imperial-palace / Jircniv ←
Though Jircniv was glad to have taken the necessary steps, he learned a new thing about his Arachama. She could be scary at some of the topics. He learned that when she started to plan the wedding. Though he had promised to take it over, she hardly recognised it that way and continued with it. With that in mind he had found himself in a difficult position. He wanted to be close to her, if only to save the treasury of the empire. But she was already overloading him with questions.
He didn't care if the roses were white and blue or white and pink. He didnt care what was served. It was mostly for the nobles, they deserved to eat what was served. He didn't care if the wedding was necessarily traditional or not, at least he didn't care anymore as it was nerve wracking and stressful.
Arachama was again at it, something about cards, when he interrupted her. A kiss on her lips shut her up for roughly five minutes. He continued and continued.
"I might like it, but it also helps me," he thought.
After said minutes were over she got loose and pouted at him.
"I know you don't like the talks, but we need to make sure it is perfect. How else can it be the best wedding, if we don't plan it accordingly." she asked, he sighed.
"I know it is an important day, my little treasure. But it is about us, not the empire, not the nobles, nor some records we need to best. Relax, drink tea with me and we might get something done." he promised as he gave up.
"I just hope she sticks to it that way." he prayed as she nodded.
He sat down onto the couch she had occupied for the entire day. Afterwards they went over most of the questions. Who would come, what color scheme, what food and many more.
Luckily it only lasted the entire day and did not include the night. He wouldn't be able to last that discussion that long, regardless who he spoke with.
After the discussion, even if some decisions had to be overwritten multiple times, they relaxed and cuddled.
"I can't wait for the wedding." he thought as he petted her hair.
→ Nazarick Arachamas-office / Arche ←
After mother used the usual portal to bring them both to her office, Arche relaxed slightly. Though she had deep respect for the denizens of Nazarick, it was born in fear and terror. She had heard how Zesshi had done her massacre. To hear from big-sis that it was nothing compared to what every guardian was capable of terrified her. Especially Lady Albedo and Lady Shalltear brought terror to her heart.
But both were occupied and mom was now cuddling with her. Meanwhile mom also did paperwork and she herself was reading about techniques to get higher reserves for this 'mana', as her mom had called it.
Just as lunch arrived, Arche's quiet day was shattered. The voice she feared the most echoed through the hall. Soon enough Lady Albedo appeared. First the woman looked at her and then nodded.
"Good afternoon, Lady Arachama." Albedo bowed towards mom, who nodded along.
"Good morning. Did you finish the errands?" mom asked.
"Of course, Lady Arachama. The specifications are a bit flexible, as none of us know how to circumvent the two fools, but we are confident that our plan will work. The village under Cocytus is going smoothly. The others are preparing to do their duty to the supreme scheme of Lord Ainz and you." Lady Albedo reported and Arches eyebrows shot onto her forehead.
"I don't want to know what this monster is cooking in her mind, but mom is incapable of scheming. She might use a situation to her advantage, but scheming is beyond her." she determined in her mind, hoping Lady Albedo is incapable of reading minds.
Afterwards Lady Albedo took her seat and continued to do paperwork, to Arches dismay. This awkward situation continued until a knock was heard and a Demon, which she knew to be Lord Demiurge, entered. He bowed and then reported about some operation and something called 'Happy Farm'. Arche didn't care about the topic itself.
"But he is even more terrifying than Lady Albedo." She decided and tried to get even deeper in moms embrace.
Arche then listened closer and observed two things about the denizens of Nazarick.
"They are religious zealots, strong religious zealots. To top that even more, they are the worst beings that I could think of. Is Nazarick the villain or are we just using the evil villains? At least Lady Albedo looks nice. Lord Demiurge looks like he eats children for fun." She shuddered and tried to concentrate further on her book, sadly gaining the attention of Lord Demiurge.
He looked at her for a few moments. Luckily mom got wind of this and covered her.
"She is currently focused on the book. Might as well let her learn." Mom used one of her distracting smiles.
"Of course, Lady Arachama." Demiurge agreed and soon she was able to ignore it again.
In the early evening mom was finished and they departed. Arche, quite eager to leave, was almost teleporting through the usual portal. Mom took a bit more time but appeared behind her soon enough. Tired as both were, mom scooped her up.
"Mom?" Arche began,
"Yes?" Mom responded, pecking the cheek of Arche.
"Are we the bad guys in a tale?" she asked.
"I don't like to think that. I like to think that we are just a big family." Mom answered and Arche relaxed, feeling more safe with that answer.
"Ok." Arche responded, feeling her thoughts leaving her as she tried to think for a few seconds. She felt great, relaxed and safe. That was all that mattered to her, besides all her sisters and her mom.
→ Re-Estize Royal-palace / Renner ←
The sun was setting and Renner looked at it longingly. Despite what Climb interpreted from her behavior, she didn't think how sad the situation was. She also didn't ask herself how low the kingdom had fallen. She only smiled inside, knowing that this would be her exit. It felt fitting for her, though she had originally hoped that she could leave with more fanfare than the dead of night, but she liked it as it is.
"Only Climb and my masters matter." she thought as she glanced at Climb.
"I know it will be a hard time, Climb. Do you trust me?" she asked, taking Climbs hands and bringing her crocodile tears out.
"Of course, Princess Renner." Climb answered, looking her in the eyes and showing her loved dedication.
"Will you follow and help me everywhere?" she inquired further.
"You saved me, Princess Renner. Of course I will do anything for you." he whispered.
"Thank you. I needed that." Renner honestly told him and smiled brightly at him.
"I certainly trained him well." she thought proudly.
They remained like that for a few minutes until a pattern was knocked from outside.
"I think we need to move, Princess Renner." Climb whispered, a deep red in his face.
"Then we better go." Renner agreed and found Gazef Stronoff outside.
He had two of the more grizzled veterans, who held a bag, with him. The group moved fast and quietly through the halls. Climb would scout the halls, Gazef remained close to her 'father' and Renner was the back of the formation. Slowly but surely she gave signals as they advanced through the palace.
"I didn't know that most of the employed servants were that lazy. But that is not my concern anymore." she thought and saw a response and relaxed. After that she moved closer to her 'father', enjoying the better protection.
They reached the carriage and had loaded Stronoff and her 'father' into it. Climb was taking his seat and Renner was already preparing to board when clinkering armor was heard.
"Hold." a shout echoed and two unknown knights appeared.
"This carriage is under order of the Princess." Climb told them, showing a bit of anger on his face.
"That is irrelevant. We are under orders to stop anyone from leaving. Didnt you hear that Gazef Stronoff is searched for?" one of them asked and then nodded.
"Climb is like an open book. Sadly to everyone and me." Renner thought.
"So he is here. I guess inside." one of them concluded and shoved her aside.
"Kill him now!" she heard and then saw a sword bore itself through the soldier.
Meanwhile a large group of servants wearing daggers, clubs and more camouflage as everyday items appeared and got into the fray. Climb was able to fight some of them off. The grizzled veterans were able to do so as well. Stronoff showed that he was capable as well. Renner meanwhile fled inside and prepared to close it when the situation called for it.
"That isn't a battle, it is a massacre. Just as Hilma planned." she mused inside.
After some time the courtyard was littered and the group was exhausted.
"Run. We will cover up as much as possible." One of the veterans promised and Stronoff nodded.
"You can come as well, you know?" he asked.
"We could, but you risked your life for us countless times. It is time for us to repay that debt and cover your tracks." the other smiled at Stronoff.
After shaking hands Stronoff entered and Renner looked at Climb.
"Where will we be going, Princess Renner?" he asked.
"We will go to E-Rantel. If there is anyone able to help us, it is them." she told Climb, gaining raised eyebrows from Stronoff.
Not long after the doors were closed, Stronoff freed her 'father' from the rags and checked him over.
"Good, he is breathing." he sighed in relief.
"That is good." Renner agreed with Stronoffs sentiment.
"Can I ask a question, Princess Renner?" he inquired.
"Of course." she responded.
"Why are we going to E-Rantel? The Sorcerer King is an enemy of our kingdom." he asked.
"Because he is the only one who can help us and who is easy to reach." she answered.
Stronoff looked at her questioningly.
"Roble is in deep trouble, as a gigantic horde is ravaging it at the moment. The Argland Council State doesn't care about our affairs and the Slane Theocracy isn't a thing anymore. You could argue that Baharut is easy to reach, but they are even bigger enemies to us than the Sorcerer King. That leaves only one choice, doesn't it?" she explained and Stronoff nodded.
"Indeed," he agreed.
"Besides, I can't wait to have my part fulfilled." she mused in her head, already dreaming about her Climb in some certain clothes and positions.
→ Under-Re-Estize / Sneak ←
The under-city was buzzy and it was audible. The whips cracked every now and then at the backs as well as the air. The squeals of pain and glee sung in the air. But the most important music for old sneak was the reports. He had sent many assassins. Some died in duty, as was to be expected, but most did their job and disposed of his high-ranking opposition.
Some of the vassals were slowly falling into anarchy, thus were not able to make war against them.
"But that leaves-brings another problem. I need-must barter-deal earlier than later-never. Else Clan Critz will cease-die." Sneak sighed in his mind and scratched at a scabbard.
Suddenly one of an unexpected group appeared. He had sent some spies into the palace. Normally they wouldn't be back until something of note happened.
Sneak only raised an eyebrow.
"Master. Big news-news. Sniktch suspects-thinks third party scheming-planning things." the messenger reported.
"Hmm. Interesting-promising. But why you-you think so?" he inquired.
"Strange-curious behavior by a female man-thing and others. Moved out of warren." his pawn reported.
"Hmm. Report-tell me more." he hissed.
"Small group ran-fled the field-palace tonight. Rumors spread-gnawed at the palace that day." it tried to explain.
"Why third party-side?" he thought loud.
"We found-read these." The spy answered and placed a lot of papers, obviously copies from the original if the writing was anything to go by, before the Clan Chief.
He looked over them. Reports, assessments, lists and more were in the pile. But it was interesting in a way. They were mostly describing weaknesses, blackmail material and failures. This caught his eyes.
"Where did you find-find these?" he insisted.
"At the female man-thing." the spy answered and he nodded.
"Scurry-scamper back to your duty-command." Sneak hissed and the pawn ran as fast as it could.
Sneak meanwhile cackled and thought about possibilities for this newly discovered third party.
"But first, barter deal with Bubonica." he sighed and shivered down his spine.
→ Re-Estize Royal-palace / Barbo ←
It was in the morning, when Barbo awoke alone in his bed, that he found himself bombarded with news. Said news brought his blood to boil but also filled him with joy.
"Finally." he thought as he decided to grasp this opportunity.
It didn't take long for the nobles to gather in the court and begin their sessions. 'Sadly' he would need to change the expected course of today's debate.
"My dear subjects. Last night, grave news arrived. My dear father fell to a conspiracy. The loyal guards tried their best, but the traitor Gazef Stronoff managed to kidnap the king. As of right now we face the very likely situation that my dear father is murdered by the assassin's blade. I will now take over, as the chances of my fathers survival are as low as they are." he began and heard many shouts of support, though some were more grumbles than anything.
"We have further dark news. According to evidence, my sister was kidnapped as well. While we are still investigating, it seems to us that her bodyguard Climb was an accomplice to Gazef Stronoff. Both are to be executed on sight." he ordered and the shouts flared up again.
"Luck truly favors the bold." he thought at the wise words of his advisor.
"How are our next actions, your highness?" one of the margraves asked.
"A lot of the problems are coming from the Sorcerer Kingdom. News had reached me that somethings called the dwarfs are trying to ally with them." Barbo stated and looked into the crowd. Many of the faces were filled with anger.
"I want to send a messenger, if they don't cease with their behavior we will have to show them our might." Barbo cleared that.
The younger nobles agreed, if the cheering was anything to go by.
"What about the adventurers and the problems they took care of a while ago? Like goblins, Ogres and other beasts." one of the barons asked.
"We will use the levied army to do that. Stronoffs former warband will be integrated into that army, until it isn't a threat anymore." Barbo responded nonchalantly.
"The food will be scarce this year…" Barbo heard.
"Don't panic, we still have the warehouses full of corn." he laughed and saw many of the new nobility nodd along while the elderly didn't look convinced.
Afterwards private quarrels were solved and the nobles left, except for Philip, his trusted advisor.
"Philip, you are to go to the dwarfs. Tell them that they are to bow to my authority. If they either don't do that or they continue to ally themselves with the Sorcerer Kingdom then we shall fight over this." Barbo sneered and Philip left the room as soon as possible.
→ Re-Estize Royal-carriage / Renner ←
The ride through the night was hard for the princess. She only had traveled this far once, and it was hard back then. But the view of Climb made all the annoyance, stress and exhaustion fly out the window.
They halted for a short while at an inn, where the horses would be exchanged. She, Stronoff and her father stayed in the carriage. Climb was unknown enough to get the new horses. Renner meanwhile looked over her papers, to the curiosity of Stronoff.
"How does this work?" he asked as he looked at them.
"A friend of mine charmed them and connected them to her summons. The rest is too complicated for me. But it is quite useful." she smiled.
"If we had this earlier on we might have reconquered Baharut." Stronoff reminiscenced.
"We wouldn't have, because we had them before the last war. They have multiple casters in their rosters, which can cast high-tier magic." Renner responded looking over the court meeting.
"So that is your source?" Stronoff looked at her.
"Indeed. Though more important is that part here." she said and pushed it over to Stronoff pointing the court out.
"So I am condemned…" he sighed as he finished.
"And thus you are not part of my safety calculations for those papers. Who would believe you after 'abducting' and 'killing' the Princess and King?" she mused in her mind.
"Yes. We better hurry. Maybe we can rest at my great-uncle's mansion for the night. But then we need to leave as far as possible the day after." she contemplated.
"That would be Margrave Anatole Juin Poiret Pouchet, wouldn't it?" Stronoff asked.
"Yes. Last time he confused me with his own sister. But that is a regular thing with him. Such a shame actually." she sighed.
"If I remember correctly, he was a great general, until his mind left him." Stronoff contemplated.
"Indeed. He helped father to secure his rule. But age will catch you at some point." she pointed out.
"Yes. But will we rest there for a night?" he inquired.
"Yes. I want to restock our supplies. The possibilities for that will diminish soon enough." she answered and waved Climb over.
"How may I serve you, Princess Renner?" he asked.
"We take a slight detour. My great-granduncle Margrave Anatole Juin Poiret Pouchet is our next stop. I think we can resupply in secret, as he will forget us the moment we leave." she ordered and Climb nodded.
Thus the carriage moved again.
→ Skavenhaven / Bubonica ←
News reached her pestilence quite fast about the disappearance and death of her vassals chieftain. She took this chance and properly integrated them in her own clan.
"Maybe I should talk-speak with Sneak?" she asked herself. That would most certainly be a favor for her last prize.
AN: Barbo is Barbo. Arachne is on cloud nine and pulling Jircniv with her, if he wants or not. The Skaven skaven around and the dwarfs will find new wildlife.
Due to my private life, I will take a week off. Thus It will probably take till next month. But the story will continue.
Anyway I hope you enjoyed this chapter, if you enjoyed the chapter, feel free to review/ comment.
