"So what are we doing here?" Ash asked, as the trio stopped on some docks just north of the canyon they had to pass through.

"Casey said it was her turn for a destination to pick, and she wanted to go fishing here." Molly reminded.

"Yeah, no I know that, we talked about her picking some ideas when you were shearing Mareep." Ash said nonchalantly. "What I wanted to know is what it is that we are doing at this location, not why we are at this location."

"Wait you two had a civil conversation, and I didn't need to force it?!" Molly said in shock.

"I told you, rare Pokemon swarms, I'm going to make the best cheering squad the Electabuzz have ever seen, and the next member is here, I know it." Casey said as she and Chikorita stayed steady, watching their fishing bobber go up and down.

"Alright then." Ash said calmly.

"Seriously what happened to you two?!" Molly said in shock as Ash didn't even have a retort to Casey's love of the Electabuzz Team.

"If it's all the same, I'm going to find out what we need for us to get to Azalea in the meantime." Ash said, pulling out his Pokegear.

"So Casey, what is the Pokemon that is supposed to be here?" Molly asked, sitting down next to her.

"Take a look." Casey said, pointing into the water.

There were bulbous Pokemon swimming deeper in the water, moving all around.

"What are they?" Molly asked, pulling out her Pokedex.

'Qwilfish, the Balloon Pokemon, a Water and Poison Type. The small spikes covering its body developed from scales. They inject a toxin that causes fainting.' Molly's Pokedex explains.

"A poison type, and those quills look sharp, how are you planning to catch one?" Molly asked.

"Well, I was hoping for help from Ash and Pikachu, but they're busy." Casey said.

"Seriously, what happened?! Three days ago you would've fired 20 shots at him for being selfish and stubborn!" Molly said still in shock at the two finally getting along.

"He's doing something useful for once." Casey reminded. "Besides we don't necessarily need him and Pikachu."

"I don't think Cyndaquil will be very useful in this." Molly said.

"Not talking about Cyndaquil, Mareep is an electric type too." Casey reminded.

"Right, what moves does Mareep even have?" Molly asked aloud, having never even checked.

'Mareep, Electric Type, known moves include Tackle, Thunder Wave, Flash.' Molly's Pokedex listed.

"It could've been worse." Casey said, as her bobber moved. "Get ready!" Casey said, pulling up on her rod as she reeled in a Pokemon. "Chikorita use Razor Leaf!"

A Qwilfish was tossed out of the water just before Chikorita struck the water and poison type with a flurry of leaves, knocking it onto dry land.

"Alright, now we're talking!" Casey said. "Chikorita use Tackle!"

Chikorita rushed forward, striking Qwilfish before it ballooned out, bouncing the grass type backwards.

"Anytime now!" Casey exclaimed.

"Right, Mareep come on out!" Molly called out. "Use Thunder Wave!"

Mareep rung her bell, letting out a small wave of electricity, stunning the water type.

A small ways off

"They're actually doing pretty good." Ash admitted, having left on purpose. "Still, Gligar and Pikachu, be ready at a moments notice if things go south."

"Pika!" Pikachu exclaimed readily.

"Gli!" Gligar said from where he was hanging.

Back at the battle

"Now Chikorita use Vine Whip!" Casey called out.

Chikorita unleashed two vines, wrapping around two of Qwillfish's quills, before tossing it into the air then slamming it back down. Needles flew out from Qwillfish's body from the impact, causing both girls and their Pokemon to dance out of the way of the attack.

"Chikorita use Razor Leaf!" Casey called out.

From a distance

"Alright Gligar, step in." Ash said, seeing the Qwilfish was about to get knocked back into the water.

Gligar swooped around, blocking Qwilfish from moving back into the water.

"Is that Gligar?" Molly asked.

"Not questioning it right now." Casey said, seeing the opportunity. "Pokeball go!"

Casey launched a Pokeball at Qwilfish, landing it dead center as the poison type was absorbed in a red light, showing Gligar had been behind it.

'Ding, ding, ding.'

"Good work. I knew you could do it." Ash said, making his way back over.

"Knew I could?" Casey said angrily. "And yet you felt the need to step in!"

"I stepped in because it was going to go back into the water and you'd be back to square one!" Ash argued.

"Oh sure, Mr big and tough, must know everything about battling!" Casey argued.

"I don't but next time I'll just let your catch get away, how about that, then what will you do?!" Ash taunted.

"Why was I hoping it would stay nice and calm." Molly sighed.

Yes in GSC Qwilfish can be caught on the route south of Violet City with a Super Rod at a 1% chance, OR by a call from Fisherman Wade you could get them in a swarm, making it much easier to catch them.
