Sabaku no Kitsune: Chapter 33
Suna Desert: With Naruto, Temari, Obito, Jiraya, Karin and 50 Suna Shinobi
Naruto, Temari, Obito, Jiraya, Karin and about 50 Suna anbu and shinobi were in full combat gear and rushing to the eastern border in order to intercept Tsunade and any other fleeing Konoha shinobi.
"Damn it" Naruto growled from under his face coverings "how the hell did this happen" he said and Temari looked at him.
"Calm down and keep your head" Temari said "focus on saving Lady Tsunade and the others" she said and Naruto nodded.
"I just hope we make it in time" Naruto said as he and his unit rushed across the desert.
With Hanabi
Hanabi blocked a strike from Neji but was swiftly hit in the shoulder by a juken strike sending a jolt of pain through her arm; Hanabi jumped back and rubbed her arm as she glared at Neji. Neji was standing there not even breathing heavily as he looked at his cousin in disappointment.
"Is this all you can do" Neji said "one would think that the daughter of the Head of the Hyuga clan could do something more… impressive" he said and Hanabi growled.
"I will stop you" Hanabi said through gritted teeth; Hanabi charged at Neji with her hands alive with chakra as she readied herself for another attack.
Hanabi threw several juken strikes towards Neji who simply swatted her attacks away like they were slaps from a child; Neji parried another strike knocking Hanabi off balance. Neji went in and delivered a non chakra powered palm strike to Hanabi's chin making her head snap up.
Hanabi was sent to the ground as Neji stood above her without a care in the world; Hanabi got up and jumped back. Hanabi glared at Neji and took in a deep breath "I never thought I'd have to use this" Hanabi said as she raised up her hand to make a hand sign "but you asked for it" she said as she made the hand sign to activate the caged bird seal.
However Neji just stood there unfazed and Hanabi grew wide eyed "I had a feeling you were going to do that" Neji said as he reached up and began to undo his forehead protector. Neji took off his forehead protector revealing that he no longer had his caged bird seal.
"What?How" Hanabi said now worried as her best idea to defeat Neji failed.
"The same month that Naruto was killed, Lord Hiashi saw where you and Hinata's loyalties were" Neji said as he tied his forehead protector back on "he removed my seal in order for me to replace you" he said and Hanabi's eyes widened. "Now you get it" Neji said "you and your sister were destined to be disposed of" he said and Hanabi began to tear up.
Hanabi steeled herself and got back into her stance "I may not win" Hanabi said as she activated her Byakugan once more "but i won't make it easy for you" she said and Neji sighed.
"You're delaying the inevitable" Neji said as he activated his Byakugan once more and got into his stance.
With Asuma
"Fire Style: Burning ash" Asuma shouted as he blew out a black cloud of ash towards Shikamaru; Shikamaru covered his face as the ash clouded over him.
Shikamaru began to go through hand signs while holding his breath; Shikamaru slammed his hands onto the ground just as Asuma clicked his teeth creating a spark. The ash cloud ignited and the area where Shikamaru was engulfed in an inferno; Asuma stayed on guard as the inferno died down and revealed a earth dome.
The dome shattered and Shikamaru came out uninjured from the blast as he calmly walked out "It's been a while since I've seen you use that jutsu" Shikamaru said as he stood directly in front of Asuma.
"Shikamaru you don't have to do this" Asuma said trying to deescalate the situation "we can both walk away from this" he said and Shikamaru shook his head.
"No going back sensei" Shikamaru said "Konoha can't last the way it was being ran; if we have a Hokage like Danzo then things can be better" Shikamaru said. "More security and elimination of both inside and outside threats; if Konoha had done things differently then we could've done so much" Shikamaru said and Asuma narrowed his eyes.
"Like keep Choji and Ino from being killed" Asuma said and Shikamaru clenched his fists "nothing could've changed that" he said and Shikamaru looked at him.
"If lord third killed Sasuke right away we could've stopped so much" Shikamaru said with anger "he turned on the village despite all the signs he showed; if we killed him as soon as he got that curse mark then Choji would be alive, and so would Ino" he said and Asuma shook his head.
"That's wishful thinking Shikamaru" Asuma said "how far have you fallen; you're smarter than that" he said; Shikamaru had enough and took out 6 kunai and threw them onto the ground. Shikamaru created 6 shadow tendrils and used them to pick up the kunai.
"This is the end for you sensei" Shikamaru said before he launched his shadows at Asuma; Asuma used his trench knives to block the oncoming shadow controlled kunai. As sparks began flying off the clashing blades Asuma's years of combat experience began to shine through as he blocked and ducked under each attack.
Asuma ducked under a kunai but was greeted as another came towards his face; Asuma moved his head to the side as the blade cut his cheek drawing blood. Asuma jumped away but Shikamaru wasn't letting him go; Shikamaru making a hand sign ordered his shadow tendrils to throw the kunai at Asuma.
Asuma blocked 5 of the kunai but the last one made it through his defenses as it pierced his flak vest but didn't go in that far; Asuma grunted and pulled out the kunai and saw blood only on the tip of the blade.
'At least it didn't hit my vitals' Asuma thought as he looked towards Shikamaru who got down on one knee and made a hand sign; Shikamaru sent his shadow towards Asuma in order to posses him.
Asuma jumped away taking out some shuriken and throwing them at Shikamaru who jumped out of the way 'Damn it, Shika is gone' Asuma thought as he got ready to fight again. 'Crap; I gotta think of something and fast' Asuma thought.
With Shino
"Fang over Fang" Kiba roared as both he and Akamaru who was henged as Kiba both barreled towards Shino; Shino seeing the 2 spinning vortex's stood his ground coolly as the neared. Shino's bugs began to fly out of his sleeves and formed in front of him.
'Aburame secret art: Insect wall' Shino's bugs formed a tightly packed wall and they all began to release chakra until the entire wall began to glow with a light hue. Both Kiba and Akamaru impacted the wall not able to smash through is at it absorbed the impact; both Kiba and Akamaru were bounced back as they both landed in a crouch.
"Damn it" Kiba cursed as 2 swarms of bugs came towards both him and Akamaru "dodge boy" Kiba shouted as both he and Akamaru jumped away from the oncoming swarm. However Kiba did not see Shino appear of out the swarm in front of him as he was clocked across the face by Shino being sent across the ground.
Akamaru seeing this rushed towards Shino attempting to attack him from behind; Shino turned and began to duck and dodge the claw swiped from Akamaru. Shino despite his best attempts to dodge was cut across the chest ripping open his jacket; Shino jumped back as he tried to gain distance between himself and Kiba.
Shino adjusted his sunglasses as he looked at Kiba "even while having the numerical advantage you are still unable to take me down" Shino said "relying on brute force alone is not an avenue for victory" he said and Kiba growled.
"You have no hope of beating me Shino" Kiba said "this isn't a sparring match like when were were genin" he said but Shino shook his head.
"My mission is to buy time" Shino said "my mission is a success; now they are too far for you to catch up and engaging in combat after fighting me will only lead to your death" he said.
"Damn you" Kiba shouted as Shino sighed; just then a group 20 root anbu landed "about fucking time you showed up" Kiba shouted.
"Sorry sir; we rushed as fast as we could" the captain said "what are your orders" he said and Kiba smirked.
"Lets take this prick out and then chase after the others" Kiba said and Shino sighed.
'Twenty two verses me' Shino thought 'I can at least kill 10 before i fall' Shino thought as he gathered his bugs. "Lets continue" Shino said as Kiba and his anbu surrounded him.
With Shizune and Yugao
Yugao ducked under a slash from Itachi as his sword passed over her head; Yugao countered with a stab to Itachi's mid section, with Itachi side stepping the attack.
Itachi sent a downward slash to Yugao who brought her sword up and stopping the attack before it could connect; however Yugao wasn't able to see the oncoming kick until it connected with her chest sending her skidding back across the ground.
Yugao stopped and glared at Itachi, she grabbed her anbu mask and took it off "you're still as talented as ever Itachi" Yugao said and Itachi stood there emotionless "so why are you fighting for Danzo of all people" Yugao asked.
"Loyalty" Itachi said simply and Yugao nodded.
"Fair enough" Yugao said.
Shizune meanwhile was still fighting Asuka and wasn't fairing as good as Yugao; Yugao ducked back as Asuka's twin hooks passed her barely missing her neck. Shizune countered by taking out a kunai and slashing at Asuka.
Asuka dodged Shizune's slashes and connected both hooked ends of her swords; Asuka spun around swinging her swords and Shizune's eyed widened as she brought her kunai in front of her to protect herself.
Asuka's swords cut through Shizune's kunai before slashing her across the abdomen; however the kunai slowed down the sword preventing it from making a fatal wound. Shizune jumped back and began to run chakra through her hand and began to heal herself.
'Who is this girl' Shizune thought 'she's too skilled to be one of Danzo's pawns; is she Itachi apprentice or something' she thought.
'Master Itachi is still fighting that anbu' Asuka thought looking at Itachi who was fighting Yugao 'I best finish off this woman so i can assist him' she thought as she got back into her stance.
Shizune reached into her kunai holster and took out another kunai 'I have to defeat her at all cost' she thought.
With Hanabi
Hanabi threw a juken strike at Neji who parried the strike and retaliated with one of his own; Hanabi blocked the strike and went low to perform a sweeping kick.
Neji jumped over the kick and kicked Hanabi in the face breaking her nose and sending her skidding her across the ground
Hanabi jumped back to her feet as Neji ran towards her and got into a defensive stance; Neji sent a flurry of strikes towards Hanabi who tried to dodge and block as many as she could. Hanabi was then hit in the chest by a strike from Neji making her cough up blood as her lung was damaged and her chakra points were cut off.
Neji jumped and kneed Hanabi under the chin making her see stars; Neji in a feat of acrobatics jumped over her and kicked her in the back sending her to the ground one more.
"Give up Hanabi" Neji said looking down as his beaten and bleeding cousin "you have no hope of beating me" he said and Hanabi looked at him.
"N-No" Hanabi said as she struggled to her feet "I w-won't-" Hanabi began but she was interrupted when Neji struck her in the chest once more sending her to the ground before turning around and walking away.
Hanabi was laying on the ground in agony as her organs were damaged and she was coughing up blood "this is your last chance" Neji said as he began to charge his hands with chakra.
"Never" Hanabi said as she stood up with all her will power; Hanabi got into her stance and let out a bloody cough and Neji shook his head.
"So be it" Neji said; Neji charged forward at his max speed and Hanabi waited.
Hanabi launched a strike at Neji who dodged before launching a strike of his own; Neji's hand connected with Hanabi's heart sending the young girl to the ground and clutching her chest.
Hanabi began to choke and convulse as she looked up through blurry vision; she began to cry as she knew what was happening 'elder sister; I'm sorry' Hanabi thought as Neji kneeled down.
"Don't be scared Hanabi" Neji said as he put his palm to her forehead "it is your fate" he said and Hanabi bared her teeth in rage.
"Go fuck-" Hanabi began but couldn't finish; Neji sent a juken strike to her Brian causing her to hemorrhage and killing her instantly. Hanabi was bleeding from her eyes, ears and nose as she let out the final breath from her lungs; Neji out and closed her eyes just as a group of 30 root anbu landed.
"Sir, we have arrived; what are our orders" The captain said and Neji looked towards him.
"Chase after the group; capture is possible, terminate in necessary" Neji ordered and the captain nodded before running off; Neji reached down and picked up Hanabi 'I believe Lord Hiashi would like to decide what to do with her corpse' Neji thought as he began to walk back to Konoha.
With Asuma
Asuma launched a stream of fire towards Shikamaru who jumped out of the way before taking out several shuriken and throwing them at Asuma. Asuma used his trench knives to knock the shuriken out of the air as he closed the distance between him and Shikamaru.
Shikamaru seeing that Asuma was so close reached back and took out his Wakizashi and began to clash blades with Asuma "using a blade on me Shika, bad idea" Asuma said as he kicked Shikamaru in the chest and sent him skidding back.
Shikamaru stopped himself and rushed towards Asuma with his sword in a low position; Asuma got ready as Shikamaru neared him. Shikamaru slashed at Asuma who blocked the sword with his trench knives; however Asuma was cut across the chest ripping open his flak vest.
Asuma jumped back and looked at Shikamaru and realized what happened; Shikamaru was using the shadow of his sword to attack as well.
'I get it now' Asuma thought as he clutched his wound 'the shadow of his sword is basically acting like a second blade' Asuma thought as he miscalculated Shikamaru. 'Damn it; out of all my students to turn evil it just had to be the genius' Asuma thought 'it couldn't have been the snotty blonde or the chubby one' he thought.
Asuma got back into his stance as Shikamaru got into his own stance; Shikamaru rushed towards Asuma with his sword at the ready. He sent a stab towards Asuma and Asuma prepared to counter; Asume dodged to the side as the sword and the swords shadows passed him.
Shikamaru smirked as with a single hand sign he redirected the shadow of his sword to Asuma; Asuma was still in range of the shadow as it stabbed him in the thigh. Asuma jumped back a few feet and grabbed his leg which was bleeding profusely.
"Damn it" Asuma said as he took off his forehead protector and tied it around his leg to stem the bleeding "you nicked the artery" Asuma said before looking at Shikamaru. "You're learned something new; you always said learning was 'a total drag'" he said and Shikamaru looked at him.
"If i knew how to do this then Choji and Ino would be alive" Shikamaru said; Shikamaru once more created his shadow tendrils and sent them towards Asuma who attempted his best to dodge but was slowed down due to his leg.
Asuma jumped away and landed and began to go through hand signs 'Fire Style: Fire-' Asuma began but stopped as his body froze "what the hell; I can't move" he said as he heard a voice come from behind him.
"Shadow possession complete" Shikaku Nara said as he walked out from behind a tree "you took to long so I came to see your progress" he said to Shikamaru who looked at his father.
"I had the situation handled" Shikamaru said "three more moved and i could've gotten him" Shikamaru said as he began to walk. "Did you get the others" Shikamaru asked and Shikaku nodded.
"Yes; we found Iruka and the 2 ramen shop people escaping to the North" Shikaku said making Asuma's blood run cold "they were captured as per Danzo's orders" he said.
"Shikaku you bastard" Asuma shouted "you were my fathers advisor; we served in 2 wars together, how could you betray Konoha like this" he said and Shikaku looked towards him.
"I'm doing what's best for my family and my clan" Shikaku said "I lost my god son and my god daughter; I won't allow the same to happen to Shikamaru because of incompetence from faulty leadership" he said and Asuma growled as he began to struggle.
Shikamaru stopped in front of Asuma and both men looked at each other "Asuma Sensei" Shikamaru said "I'm sorry it has to end like this" he said and Asuma sighed.
"Can i have one last smoke" Asuma asked and Shikamaru nodded as he reached into his pocket and pulled out his cigarettes; Shikamaru pulled out a cigarette and put it into Asuma's mouth and lit it with his lighter.
Asuma POV
Asuma was looking at the cold uncaring expression on the face of his former student; unable to move or fight back he began puffing on his cigarette as Shikamaru raised his sword to Asuma's neck.
'I failed' Asuma thought in sadness 'I failed Choji, I failed Ino and now I failed you Shikamaru' Asuma thought as he puffed his cigarette as Shikamaru brought his sword back. 'Is this how you felt about your students dad' Asuma thought as Shikamaru brought down his sword which to Asuma seemed like it was coming in slow motion.
As the blade neared his neck Asuma had one final thought of a certain black haired woman 'Kurenai… my love… I'm sorry' Asuma thought before the feeling of cold steel touched his neck and his world went black.
With Shino
Shino sent a swarm of his bugs to an Anbu who was engulfed and screaming as the bugs began to suck out his chakra; the anbu fell to the ground and died of chakra exhaustion just as Shino turned around and saw Kiba and Akamaru coming towards him.
Kiba took a swipe at him with his claws and Shino ducked back and Akamaru came up doing the same; Shino was now avoiding both Kiba and Akamaru and was struggling as he was not a close distance fighter.
Shino jumped back to gain some distance as he sent a swarm of bugs towards Kiba; Kiba looked to Akamaru and spoke "Boy get ready" Kiba said and Akamaru nodded. Kiba launched a fang over fang and Akamaru began to go through hand signs; Akamaru launched a fireball that set hit Kiba and the flames began to surround him.
"Fire fang over fang" Kiba roared as he hit Shino's bugs burning them to death and Shino furrowed his brow.
'He has a new technique that is not from the Inuzuka arsenal' Shino thought 'I have lost half my bugs so far; I cannot fight much longer' Shino thought as he looked around. 'I have killed eight of the anbu; much less than i anticipated' Shino thought as he began to formulate a plan 'I have miscalculated' he thought.
Kiba neared Shino who reached into his pockets and pulled out several smoke grenades; Shino threw them to the ground creating a large cloud of smoke. Kiba missed his attack as Shino ran off out of the smoke but Kiba could still smell him.
"Nice try bug boy" Kiba shouted as he rushed Shino "but you can't fool my nose" Kiba said as he slashed Shino across the back suddenly Shino dispelled into a swarm of bugs shocking Kiba as the only thing that was there was his jacket. "What" Kiba roared.
Shino meanwhile was hiding behind a tree with several bugs across him 'your sense of smell is good Kiba, but not exact' Shino thought 'my bugs can release pheromones that can mask my natural smell' he thought as he began to sneak away. 'I cannot lead them to where the team is heading' Shino thought 'I'll head through the land of rivers and take an alternate route' he thought as he snuck away.
"God mother fucking damnit" Kiba cursed in a rage as he looked to his remaining anbu "find Shino and put him in the fucking ground" Kiba shouted as he and his men began to scour the area for Shino.
With Yugao and Shizune
Yugao was clashing blades with Itachi and so far Itachi was winning; Yugao despite her skill with a sword could not compete with Itachi's talent in kenjutsu and his sharingan.
Yugao slashed at Itachi missing his midsection as he side stepped her attack; Itachi came up with a slash of his own scoring at hit on Yugao's breast plate cutting it open and creating a wound.
Yugao fell to the ground for a second before jumping away to gain some distance; Yugao was holding her wound in an attempt to stop the bleeding as she looked at Itachi. 'I-I don't stand a chance' Yugao thought as she breathed heavily 'I've been giving my all; but he's just toying with me, he hasn't even used a single jutsu the entire fight' she thought.
"Give up Yugao" Itachi said bored "you have no hope of beating me" he said and Yugao grit her teeth.
Yugao stabbed her sword into the ground and made a hand sign "Shadow clone jutsu" Yugao created 2 shadow clones and grabbed her sword once more 'I will not bow' Yugao thought as she got into her stance. 'Not to the likes of him' she thought.
Yugao and her 2 clones all rushed towards Itachi at once her clone on the left jumped about to perform a downward slash, the clone on her right went low for a rising slash and Yugao went in for a frontal pierce.
Itachi seeing this through his sharingan got into his stance and prepared the oncoming assault.
Yugao and her clones all attacked at the same time and Itachi moved; Itachi spinning clock wise took out Yugao's right clone with a slash. Yugao seeing the blade ducked under it as it passed overhead and cut her clone on the left; Yugao sent her stab to Itachi's chest as it neared his breastplate.
Itachi reached out with his left hand and grabbed the lady stopping it at only an inch from his heart making Yugao's eyes widen in surprise; Itachi using his sword stabbed Yugao through the chest piercing her heart and making her cough up blood.
"Using an anbu technique that i created" Itachi said to Yugao who was coughing up blood "a bad choice" Itachi said as he pulled out his sword and let Yugao fall to the ground. Itachi then pierced Yugao through her temple in a coup de grace killing her before letting go of the blade; Itachi looked to the cut on his hand and took out a bandage 'she cut me' Itachi thought as he looked to the dead anbu at his feet. 'She got farther than most' Itachi thought.
Shizune saw Yugao go down and couldn't believe her eyes; however she had to put that into the back of her mind as Asuka came rushing towards her. Asuka connected her swords once more and swung the connected blades at Shizune's feet; Shizune jumped over the blades and threw a kick at Asuka hitting her in the face and sending her skidding across the ground.
Asuka jumped back up and dropped one of her swords taking out several kunai and throwing them at Shizune; Shizune using her own kunai knocked the blades out of the air. Shizune heard sizzling and looked down and saw one of the kunai had an exploding tag on it; Shizune jumped away as the tag exploded and her clothes began to smoke from the fire. Shizune landed and she took out some shuriken and threw them at Asuka; Asuka used her swords to knock Shizune's shuriken out of the air.
Asuka began to go through hand signs before stopping on the last one 'Fire Style: Fireball jutsu' Asuka launched the fire ball towards Shizune who went wide eyed as she began to go through hand signs herself.
'Water Style: Water bullets' Shizune launched a volley of water bullets at the oncoming fire ball extinguishing it and creating a steam cloud. Asuka used the steam cloud as cover as she rushed towards Shizune; Asuka swung her sword at Shizune who blocked it with her kunai.
Asuke quickly used her sword to hook Shizune's arm away and used her other sword to slash her across the abdomen; Shizune backed away to gain some distance but Asuka pressed on with her attack and used her sword to cut off Shizune's hand that was holding the kunai.
In one final move Asuma swung her sword using the edge to cut open Shizune's throat; Shizune fell to the ground holding her neck with her one remaining hand as Asuka looked her in the eyes. Shizune struggled for a few minutes until she went stiff and Asuka looked down on her.
"I'm sorry; it's nothing personal" Asuka said as she flicked the blood off her blade; Itachi walked up wrapping his hand in bandages and looked at Asuka.
"Lets head back to Konoha" Itachi said and Asuka nodded "gather up the bodies; lord Danzo will want proof of the kills" he said and Asuka nodded.
"Yes Itachi sensei" Asuka said as she took out a scroll and placed it next to Shizune.
Near the Suna border: With Tsunade, Sakura and Kurenai
Tsunade, Sakura and Kurenai were running at full speed towards the Suna border and were nearing it as the ground began to become more sandy and the trees became more scarce.
'Almost there' Tsunade thought before she heard some noises from behind them; Tsunade looked behind the group and saw a Fuma shuriken coming towards them "Get down" Tsunade shouted to Sakura and Kurenai.
Both women ducked to the ground as the Fuma shuriken flew overhead; Tsunade reached out and grabbed the shuriken and threw it back at full force.
Behind the group there was about 100 root anbu all rushing towards them; the root anbu all scattered but the Fuma shuriken did manage to slice through 2 anbu before disappearing off in the distance.
Sakura and Kurenai got back up and got into their stances as the anbu neared them "come get some" Sakura shouted as she clenched her fists "I'll take you all on" she shouted.
Kurenai took out a kunai and made a hand sign with her left hand "I'll hit them with genjutsu; you two take them on" she said and Tsunade nodded.
"Ok girls" Tsunade said popping her knuckles "lets make this quick" Tsunade said as she got ready to fight.
"Granny get down" came a shout from the distance; both Sakura and Kurenai went wide eyed as they turned around and Tsunade smiled and she grabbed both Sakura and Kurenai.
"You heard him" Tsunade said as she pulled both women down and covered them.
"You ready Temari" Naruto said to Temari as they both opened their fans.
"Lets do this" Temari said as they both brought back their fans; both of them swung the fans forward at the same time and launched a combined wind jutsu.
"Wind Combine Decapitation" They both shouted; a massive wall of wind blades roasted towards the large group of root anbu who were caught off guard. None of the anbu had any time or room to dodge as they were hit by the wind jutsu as they cracked into trees and boulders breaking bones and rupturing organs.
As soon as they winds died down Tsunade looked up and saw Naruto, Temari and about 10 Suna ninja all waiting up ahead; she then looked back and saw a large field of devastation as the root anbu were either dead or crippled from the attack.
Tsunade got back up and Naruto and Temari ran towards them "finish off any survivors" Temari ordered the Suna ninja who began to search the area "Lady Tsunade, are you ok" Temari asked and Tsunade nodded as she helped both Sakura and Kurenai up.
"Yes we're fine" Tsunade said dusting herself off "I'm just glad you and Naruto are here; we were in trouble" Tsunade said with a sigh. "Konoha has fallen and we are scattered" Tsunade said "I just hope the other teams-" Tsunade began but was interrupted.
"Wait what" Sakura said wide eyed; Tsunade herself went wide eyed as she realized she had a slip of the tongue "did you just say Naruto" Sakura said. Sakura turned to 'Menma' who flinched at her gaze.
Naruto gulped but then sighed in defeat "I guess the jig is up" Naruto said; Naruto pulled back his hood revealing his blonde spiky hair and pulled down his face covering revealing his face. Sakura took a step back as she could not believe her eyes and Kurenai's jaw dropped in disbelief.
"No way" Kurenai said in awe.
"N-Naruto" Sakura said and Naruto gave her a weak smile.
"Hey Sakura" Naruto said softly "it's been a while" he said.
