The day was barely starting as the sun had yet to rise over the horizon. A small vehicle was shown riding along the street. They were shown coming up to a certain building; getting out was a woman and a few other men dressed in suits. They looked over the CHS building as they went to the dorms.
Zipp was currently up and about as she was doing her morning jog. She had her headphones in her ears as she stopped in her tracks. The girl in her jogging clothes watched the woman accompanied by her guards. She watched them as they headed toward Roll and Mario's dorm.
"This can't be good," said the girl.
Inside, both teens were fast asleep. They had pleasant dreams when a banging on the front door was heard.
"Open this door! I repeat, open this door, or we will bust it down!" said the woman.
"Who the hell is making that noise at this hour?" said Mario as he groaned.
The banging was still going as he rolled out of his bed and began to head downstairs. Roll also joined her brother in the hallway as the noise got louder. Soon the boy made his way to the dorm's front door and opened it.
"You must be Mario. And that there is Roll." said the woman. "You're both under campus arrest!"
"What?!" shouted Roll. "What the hell did we do?"
"That will be made more than apparent at the interrogation!" said the woman.
Both teens looked at each other as they didn't know what was happening. Soon the two were in Principal Celestia's office as before they were Luna and Celestia herself. The dean, Raven Inkwell, had given the two their punishment.
"Suspended?!" shouted both siblings.
"That's what I suggest. For trespassing on abandoned property and leaving campus grounds well after curfew!" said Raven.
"Who told you?" said Mario.
"An anonymous letter from one of our facility members confirms it! You must be punished to set an example for all students!" shouted the woman.
"While I agree suspense is for breaking the rules, let's not forget what kind of example we'd be setting, Raven. That we are a bunch of hard-hearted tyrants. I say we arrange for something more sporty." stated Luna.
"Sporty? What do you mean?" said Mario.
"Well, Mario... off the top of my head, how about you partner with your sister in a tag duel. Win, and you're clear. But lose... and you're both gone. Forever!" stated Luna in a loud booming tone.
"A tag duel?" said Roll, looking at the Vice-Principal.
"Sister, I believe they have accepted the conditions."
"Very well. I'll arrange for some opponents," said Celestia sternly at the two teens.
Both siblings looked at each other as it seemed their year at CHS was about to come to a screeching halt.
Sometime later, Zipp was shown standing in Principal Celestia's office. The girl wanting to speak with the woman.
"You wanted to speak with me, Ms. Storm?" said Celestia, leaning back in her chair.
"Yes, ma'am. I just wanted to tell you that I was also at the abandoned building. And that I should be the one to duel with Mario." said the girl, hoping to spare Roll and give the boy a better chance at keeping them from getting expelled.
"No. It should be me!" said Izzy as she also appeared and wanted to speak with her.
"Izzy, not helping! I'm the one that led them to the abandoned building!" stated Zipp, trying not to let Izzy take the blame.
"Please, let me be the one to duel with Roll," said Izzy, trying to help her friends.
Celestia smiled at hearing this. She could see that both girls were trying to help their friends. It was admirable and reminded her of a similar experience from her past.
"Listen, girls, I appreciate you both sticking up for your friends. And for being willing to take responsibility. It makes me proud to know I have students like that. But the stakes are high, and the team-up has been set. Roll and Mario will team up, and I'm sure both will do fine. You've seen they can handle themselves." said Celestia as she stood up.
"Not Mario," said both girls, exchanging glances. Both worried about how the boy might do since he had never dueled.
After leaving Celestia's office, the two girls went to Roll and Mario's dorm. The pair entered as they saw Roll, who approached them.
"So... how'd it go?" asked the girl.
"We tried. I even said it was me who led you two there," stated Zipp.
"Well, you did. But what's done is done. No use bitching about it." said Mario as he was leaning against a wall and looking out a window.
"Hey, how come you're not worried? Aren't you afraid you'll get kicked out?" asked Izzy.
"If it happens, it happens. Wouldn't be the first time?" scoffed the boy as he left to go upstairs to his room.
"Bro, shouldn't we practice?" asked Roll.
The boy didn't answer his sister as he shut the door to his room upstairs. The girls seeing this as they could see with the way Mario was handling this, they might as well start packing their things.
"Doesn't he take this seriously? You guys lose, you're out!" said Zipp.
"He does care. It's just... complicated is all," said Roll.
"Does he even have a deck to use?" asked Izzy.
Roll wanted to answer but kept her mouth shut.
"Well, if your brother isn't gonna help. Then at least, we can help you. It's the least we can do to get you into trouble. Plus, it'll help you work out any kinks."
"I appreciate that, Zipp," said Roll.
The trio were now outside of the girl's dorm. Izzy had her duel disk strapped on as she was facing Roll. The two sought a practice duel to help prepare the girl for her upcoming match.
"Alright, guys. Remember, this is just practice for the upcoming tag-team match, so go easy," said Zipp to her friends as they stared at each other. "'Course, I'm not sure if Roll knows how to go easy."
"That's probably a good thing!"
Zipp turned as walking toward her were Sunny, Hitch, and her sister.
"What do you mean?"
"It means we know Principal Celestia isn't going to match them up with any pushovers. Roll and Mario are gonna need to be at their very best because if they're not, they'll both be expelled," said Sunny as she looked at the duel about to commence.
"We heard that you tried to take their place," said Hitch.
"I did, but Principal Celestia wasn't going to allow it. Gah! This is all my fault. If I had known they would have gotten in trouble for my stupidness, I wouldn't have invited them!" expressed Zipp.
"Don't beat yourself up, sis," said Pipp as she put her hand on her older sister's shoulder. "Besides, it's not like you ratted them out."
"Yeah, which makes me think, how did they know? And if they knew, why didn't they mention anything about you or Izzy?" said Sunny.
"That's what I'm wondering as well," said Zipp.
"Alright, Izzy! Stand back!" said Roll as she drew her card. "I'll summon Big Jaws to the field. And because I did, I'm allowed also to summon Shark Stickers! Now I overlay both my monsters so that I can Xyz Summon my Aero Shark!" stated the girl as her two monsters turned into orbs of light, as a new monster emerged from the ground below. "Now, I'll play Aero Shark's ability! You know what it does. You take 400 points of damage for every card in my hand!"
Roll's monster roared before it fired a capsule. The capsule broke apart as several torpedos popped out and headed toward Izzy. The girl covered up as she took a big hit to her life points immediately.
"Well, I think Roll will be fine," said Hitch, seeing that the girl would be fine in her tag team match based on that move alone.
As the group watched the girls go at each other, Mario could hear the sounds of battle in his room. The boy was lying on his bed as he looked at his window. He knew their friends were looking to help them, so he sighed.
With the news of Mario and Roll having a tag-team match to determine whether they would be expelled or not, almost all the students began to make a buzz over it. Still, despite their upcoming duel, both were instructed to carry on with their classes.
"Come on, Mario. You should at least have one practice duel ahead of your match with your sister," said Hitch.
"Does it matter?" said the boy.
"Come on. Do you really not care that you two might be expelled?"
"If it happens, it happens. Not like I give a shit," stated Mario.
"Well, do you at least have a deck? You haven't had an official duel since school started," stated Hitch.
"Guess I won't be able to duel," said Mario as Hitch shook his head.
The two boys went to the field behind the school as Thunder awaited them. Hitch had asked Thunder to help him give Mario some practice ahead of his match. The boy was attempting to persuade his friend to do some actual dueling, but he didn't seem to care.
"So, we gonna..."
"Nope," said Mario as he stopped Thunder from speaking and decided to head to the side.
"Failed to convince him?" asked Thunder to his classmate.
"No matter what, he doesn't seem he wants to duel. I wonder if he has a deck. I was willing to let him borrow mine to practice." said Hitch.
"Well, maybe he'll change his mind if he sees a duel. You up for a match?" asked Thunder.
"Sure, it's worth a shot," said Hitch as he accepted his classmate's request.
The two then began to give themselves some space. They turned on their duel disk as Hitch slid his deck into it, which projected a green card tray, with Thunder's duel disk projecting an orange card tray.
"Opponent detected. Streaming data. Duel mode set. Initiating. Commencing duel."
Thunder's Life Points: 8000-
Hitch's Life Points: 8000-
Turn 1: Hitch (Hand 5)
"I'll make the first move," said Hitch as he drew his card. "First, I play Reincarnation of Hope. So by sending two cards from my hand, I can add a monster card from my hand during my 2nd Standby Phase."
Hitch selected the two cards he wanted to eliminate as he slotted them into his graveyard. "Next, I play this, the tuner monster, Junk Synchron(1300/500)!" Out came a small yellow monster made up of some junk parts. "Now, Junk Synchron's ability activates. It allows me to return a Level 2 or lower monster from my graveyard in defense mode, but its effects are negated. So rise up, Sonic Chick(300/300)!" A small baby chick wearing red boots appeared and let out a squeak.
"And that's not all, because I control a tuner monster, I revive my Quillbolt Hedgehog(800/800) from my grave!" said Hitch as the second card he sent away earlier appeared.
"Not bad. Playing a spell that makes him discard two cards early on so that later he can add any monster he wants. And he brought those monsters back using only a single monster. Which sets him up. Pretty good." commented Mario, taking a seat and watching the duel.
"Now I tune all three of my monsters together!" said Hitch as his three monsters leaped into the air. Junk Synchron turned into three giant green rings as Sonic Chick and Quillbolt Hedgehog leaped in between as a white light shot through. "Watch as fragments of steel merge into an impenetrable shield! I Synchro Summon, Junk Gardna(1400/2600)!" A brand new monster appeared and landed with a thud as it brought its arms up and put them together to make a shield.
"2600 defense points, already?" said Thunder, seeing that Hitch was able to bring out a tanky monster on his first turn.
"Go ahead, bud!" said Hitch, passing it over to Thunder.
Turn 2: Thunder (Hand 5)
"My move. And I'll start by summoning my Battlewasp - Pin the Bulleyes(200/300)!" said Thunder as a small wasp appeared before him. "Now I activate its effect; once per turn, I can deal you 200 points of damage!" The small wisp flew toward Hitch and stuck its stinger into his arm.
"Ow!" said Hitch as he flicked the small monster away and rubbed his arm. The sting and pain from the small wasp were there before it began to cease.
Hitch's Life Points: 7800-
"With that, I'll lay one card facedown and end my turn," stated Thunder.
Turn 3: Hitch (Hand 2)
"Why would Thunder leave his monster in attack mode? It only has 200 points," said Hitch as he drew his card. "I'll summon my Red Sparrow Summoner(1600/1500)." Out came a girl spellcaster, as standing next to her was a female sparrow-girl that was like her spirit persona.
"Attack his monster," instructed Hitch to his sparrow.
"I activate my facedown, Battlewasp - Nest! When a 'Battlewasp' monster is targeted for an attack, I can special summon one 'Battlewasp' monster from my hand or deck. So I'm summoning another Pin the Bulleyes!" said Thunder as another small wasp appeared. "And my trap also stops the Battle Phase." stated the boy as Hitch's monster halted before returning to his side.
"I fell for that," smiled Hitch.
Turn 4: Thunder (Hand 4)
"My draw and I'll summon Battlewasp - Sting the Poison(400/800)!" said Thunder as he summoned a larger wasp with its lower body where its abdomen was shown filled with poison. "Now Sting the Poison's effect allows me to add a 'Battlewasp' monster from my deck to my hand. And that's not all, 'cause I'm summoning it right now! My Battlewasp - Twinbow the Attacker(1000/500)." Another wasp appeared as this one had two stingers.
"Now watch me! I tune my Level 2 Sting the Poison with my Level 3 Twinbow the Attacker!" declared Thunder as his wasp took to the air. His tuner monster turned into two giant green rings as his other insect shot through the rings with a white light. "I Synchro Summon, Battlewasp - Azusa the Ghost Bow(2200/1600)!" A tall insect-like woman appeared as she wore a white dress and had a quiver of arrows by her side with a bow in her hand.
"Now I activate my Battlewasp - Pin's ability. You take 200 points of damage for every copy that I have out. And since I have two monsters, that means you're taking double the damage, twice over!" declared Thunder as both his smaller wasps fired their stingers and left some marks on Hitch's arm before they faded away.
Hitch's Life Points: 7000-
"Now Azusa's ability activates. When you take effect damage from my Battlewasps, I can dish out more damage equal to that monster's attack points!" said Thunder as his monster pulled her bow back and fired an arrow that left another sting on Hitch.
Hitch's Life Points: 6800-
"Now, attack his Red Sparrow Summoner!" said the boy. Azusa pulled out another bow and fired the arrow as it stung Hitch's spellcaster, dealing more damage to him.
Hitch's Life Points: 6100-
"Now Red Sparrow's effect activates; since it was destroyed by battle, I can special summon 1 Warrior-type monster from my deck, as long as it has 1500 or fewer attack points! So I'm bringing out my Obnoxious Celtic Guardian!" stated Hitch as a swordsman appeared.
"So, anything else?"
"Well... now that you mention it," said Thunder as he reached for a card in hand.
"Oh, no," stated Hitch as he regretted asking that.
"Since my Azusa destroyed your monster by sending my Battlewasp - Dart the Hunter to my graveyard, I can slam you with points equal to your monster's original attack points. So, here's another 1500 points of damage!" stated Hunter as he discarded his card.
His monster appeared and rocketed toward Hitch as its stinger entered his elbow. The boy felt the pain and fell to a knee. Hitch lifted his head to look back at Thunder before standing up as the pain was gone.
Hitch's Life Points: 4600-
"Thunder's strategy is the same as his monsters. They're insects, and insects swarm. So unless Hitch has a big-ass fly swatter somewhere, he's gonna feel more than just a few stings." said Mario as he popped a lollipop into his mouth and continued to watch.
"I'll end my turn," stated Thunder, showing some leeway to give Hitch a chance to fight back.
Turn 5: Hitch (Hand 2)
"My turn. I'll start by activating my Reincarnation of Hope's effect; since two turns have passed, I can now add any monster card I want to my hand," said Hitch as he touched his duel disk screen to look through his entire deck. He made his selection as he confirmed his choice, and his duel disk ejected the card and grabbed it. "Then I'll switch my Celtic Guardian to defense mode. And follow up by playing Pot of Greed. Now I'm allowed to draw two more cards, " Hitch said as he drew.
"Next, I'm summoning my Backup Warrior(2100/0). Since I have two monsters in defense mode, I can summon this guy, but for the rest of my turn, I can't Synchro summon. Either way, he's got enough attack points to take down one of your wasps. So, go Backup Warrior. Attack his Pin the Bulleyes!"
"Not gonna happen, cause my trap, Battlewasp - Nest, is still in effect. So not only am I negating your attack, but I'm summoning another one to the field!" said Thunder as he had another small wasp appear to join his other three monsters. "But here's the good news for you, Hitch. Since I used my card twice, it's now destroyed!"
"At least he can't stop my future attacks," said Hitch to himself. "I'll end my turn."
Turn 6: Thunder (Hand 3)
"My turn, and now Asuza the Ghost, attack his Backup Warrior!" instructed Thunder as his monster began to prep her bow.
"Not this time! I activate Junk Gardna's special ability! It forces your Asuza into defense mode!" said Hitch as Thunder's monster changed modes and couldn't attack.
"Clever. But I got other ways to deal damage. Like this, I activate my Pin the Bulleyes' abilities; remember, you take 200 points of damage for each other one I have on the field. Multiply that by 3, and you're taking 1800 points of damage!" declared Thunder as his wasps fired and stung Hitch pretty good as he fell to a knee from the pain before it faded away.
Hitch's Life Points: 2800-
"Don't forget Asuza's effect. Since my Pin the Battlewasp dealt damage, you take damage equal to its attack points," said Thunder.
Hitch's Life Points: 2600-
"I'll end my turn."
Turn 7: Hitch (Hand 4)
"My turn," said the boy as he drew, hoping to find something to help him. "I'll summon my Jutte Fighter(700/900)!" stated Hitch as his small monster appeared. "And here's his special ability. I can turn one of your faceup attack monsters into defense mode."
The monster threw his chain and changed one of Thunder's small wasps into defense mode.
"What good does that do?" asked Thunder.
"Not much. But I'm using him for something else. Now Jutte Fighter, tune with my Celtic Guardian!" shouted Hitch as his monsters leaped into the air. Hitch's tuner monster turned into two giant green rings as the swordsman jumped between them as a white light surged.
"I Synchro Summon, Goyo Guardian(2600/2000)!" shouted Hitch as his new monster dropped from the sky and landed with a thud. It swung its weapon as it was looking to battle.
"Now attack his Asuza!" declared the boy as his new monster threw his weapon and destroyed Thunder's monster.
"Wouldn't it have been better to destroy one of my wasps instead?" said Thunder as he covered up from the attack.
"Well, let me show you Goyo Guardian's ability. Whenever it destroys a monster and sends it to the graveyard, I can summon it to my side of the field in defense mode!" said Hitch as a portal opened up, and Thunder's destroyed monster appeared on his side.
"That's stealing, Hitch!" complained Thunder.
"It's officially by the law," said Hitch in a dignified tone as if he acted like some officer. "Now, Backup Warrior, time to detain that wasp!" The boy's monster began to fire its cannons as it removed one of the wasps and severely damaged Thunder.
Thunder's Life Points: 6100-
"I'll end my turn with a facedown," stated Hitch.
Turn 8: Thunder (Hand 4)
"My turn and I play the spell card, Summoning Swarm! Now I can summon as many of my 'Battlwasp' monsters in my graveyard up to the number of monsters you currently control. So I'm bringing back the Battlewasp - Pin the Bulleyes you destroyed. Along with Battlewasp - The Sting Poison and Battlewasp - Twinbow the Attacker!" said Thunder as he now had an entire field of wasps.
"Now I tune my Sting Poison and Twinbow the Attack so that I can Synchro Summon another Battlewasp - Azusa the Ghost Bow!" said Thunder as a second copy of the monster on Hitch's field appeared.
"Why?" asked Hitch, confused that Thunder would play a second copy of his previous synchro monster instead of something new.
"Cause here's something you didn't know about Azusa. It may be a Synchro monster, but it's also a tuner."
"A tuner?" said Hitch as he realized what his friend was getting at.
"So now, I tune all three of my Level 1 Pin the Bulleyes with my Level 5 Azsua!" shouted Thunder as his synchro monster turned into five giant green rings that circled the other smaller wasps, and a white light surged. "I Synchro Summon, Battlewasp - Hama the Conquering Bow(2800/2000)!" A more muscular wasp-like man appeared as he wielded a bow.
"Since I used a synchro monster to summon Hama, he's allowed to attack twice."
"So that's why you summoned a second copy of your Asuza instead of just straight summoning him," stated Hitch.
"You catch on, sheriff. But I ain't done yet, 'cause I'm summoning my Battlewasp - Abalest the Rapidfire(1800/800)!" Thunder now had another wasp appear. "And Rapidfire's ability allows me to revive one Level 3 or lower insect monster from my graveyard since I normal summoned him. So my Sting the Poison is back! And you know what happens... I'm Synchro Summoning again, this time with my Level 4 Rapidfire and Level 2 Sting the Poison."
Thunder's monsters took to the air again as his tuner turned into two giant green rings as it circled Rapidfire, and a white light surged through. "Beat your wings, bring your sting, unite, and fight! I Synchro Summon! Battlewasp - Halberd the Charge(2500/800)!" Another wasp-like warrior appeared as it wielded a halberd, which he swung before aiming at its foe.
"Good move," said Mario as he finished his lollipop and tossed the stick away.
"Hama, the hunt is on! Take out his Backup Warrior!" declared Thunder as his monster prepared to fire his bow.
"You haven't forgotten about my Junk Gardna, have you? Cause its special ability allows me to switch your monster into defense mode!" said Hitch as he stopped Thunder's monster from launching its attack.
"That's why I brought another one. Halberd, attack his Goyo Guardian!" said Thunder.
"Why? My monster has 2800 attack points, and yours only has 2500. Yours will be destroyed, and you take damage." stated Hitch.
"Not this time, sheriff. 'Cause I activate Halberd's ability! Once per battle, if my monster attacks a target with equal or higher attack points, it can cut it in half!" said Thunder.
"Uh-oh," said Hitch as his monster weakened.
Halberd spun its weapon before bringing it down on Hitch's monster as it exploded. The boy was covering up and holding his ground from the wind that broke out.
Hitch's Life Points: 1500-
"One more thing, Hitch. Since Halberd dealt damage, its additional effect kicks in. Now you take 200 points of damage for every 'Battlewasp' monster I control." Thunder smiled as his monster spun its weapon to create a wind cyclone to the boy as he held on with the wind blowing in his face.
Hitch's Life Points: 1100-
"Well, Hitch is about to lose unless he does something," stated Mario as he leaned back with his hands behind his head.
"I'll lay one card facedown and end my turn," said Thunder.
Turn 9: Hitch (Hand 3)
"It's my turn," said Hitch.
"Hold on there, bud. I'm activating my trap card, Lair Wire. So by banishing one of my insects from my graveyard, I can destroy one of your monsters. So your Junk Gardna is gone!" said Thunder as he removed another monster from the boy's field.
"Well, Junk Gardna has one more effect. Since it's gone, I can change another one of your monsters into defense mode. So your Halberd is also switching modes!" said Hitch.
"Minor setback," said Thunder, who wasn't too worried.
"I play my spell card, One for One. So by sending one monster from my hand, I can special summon a Level 1 monster from my deck. So I'm summoning my Tuningware(100/300)." The boy discarded a card as a monster shot out from his deck and appeared.
"So now I tune my Tuningware with my Backup Warrior!" said Hitch as his smaller monster jumped into the air. It became a giant green ring circling his other monster as a white light surged. "I Synchro Summon, Mighty Warrior(2200/2000)!" A giant robotic mech appeared as it was blue and white with a giant metal right arm. "I can draw one card since I used my Tuningware to Synchro summon. Then I play the equip spell, Junk Barrage, onto my Mighty Warrior."
Hitch's monster was powered up by the spell, as indicated by the aura around it.
"It still has the same attack points," stated Thunder as he was expecting the spell to boost Hitch's monster.
"Wait and see. Next, I'll summon my Tune Warrior(1600/1200)," said Hitch as he summoned another monster. "Then switch my Asuza into attack mode. Now, my Mighty Warrior attacks your Hama the Conquering Bow," said Hitch as his monster lunged forward and thrusted its fist to take out Thunder's monster in one blow.
"Now, you asked about the equip spell I put on him. Well, here it is. Thanks to Junk Barrage, when the monster it's equipped to destroys a monster, you take damage equal to half of the monster's attack points." said Hitch as Thunder felt a shockwave.
Thunder's Life Points: 4700-
"And now my Mighty Warrior's ability kicks in. It's the same as Junk Barrage. So you're taking another 1400 points of damage." stated Hitch as Thunder felt another shockwave.
Thunder's Life Points: 3300-
"And now, Asuza will attack your Battlewasp - Halberd!" said Hitch as his second monster pulled back on its bow and took out Thunder's remaining monster.
"Now, I reveal my facedown, Urgent Tuning! Thanks to this trap card, I can Synchro Summon during the Battle Phase!"
"Huh?" said Thunder as he was caught off guard by Hitch's trap.
"So I tune my Level 3 Tune Warrior with Asuza the Ghost Bow!" said the boy as his smaller monster turned into three giant green rings as the other monster flew in between. "I Synchro Summon, Goyo King(2800/2000)!" A large samurai warrior appeared as he unsheathed his sword.
"Now Goyo King's ability activates; it gains 400 extra attack points for every Earth Warrior-type Synchro monster I control until the end of the battle. So since I control two, it gains 800 points, bringing its total to..."
"3600! That means..." said Thunder as he knew what was coming next.
"Goyo King, finish this! Attack directly," said the boy as he pointed his finger out.
The monster powered up his sword as he did a full-circle rotation. He turned the blade to its side and then brought it down as a slash attack shot forward; it sailed toward Thunder as the teen put his arm up to protect his face before being flung back to the ground.
Thunder's Life Points: 0-
Winner: Hitch
"Gees," said Hitch as he fell on his bottom and breathed heavily.
"You good?" said Mario from the side, just casually eating a sandwich.
"Good one, Hitch. You beat me," said Thunder as he got to his feet and cracked his neck.
"Barely. I got lucky that I pulled the right card. You were in control of that." said the boy as he got up and stretched his back. "I'm just glad I don't get to worry about getting stung anymore. So, that change your mind?!"
"Nope," responded Mario as he kept that straight look.
"Great," groaned Hitch as his plan to potentially change Mario's mind about his upcoming tag duel was still the same.
A buzzing was heard as a bee flew through the air. It landed on Hitch's nose as its wings of it flickered every second. The teen's eyes looked at it before the insect injected its stinger downward. A scream followed soon after as it echoed for all to hear.
Mario was currently seated on a bleacher as he was solving the Rubik's cube he had. He finished matching all sides when he looked at the thing in his hand. Soon a pair of large brown boots appeared; the boy knew who they belonged to as he sighed and lifted his head to see Zipp standing before him. The girl stood there with her arms crossed as she looked at the boy.
"What do you want?" asked Mario.
"I just want to say... I'm sorry. Sorry for getting you and your sister in trouble. It's my fault."
"No big deal," scoffed the boy.
"Look, let me make it up to you. Why don't you and I..."
"What's the deal, huh?" said Mario as he stood up and looked at the girl directly into her eyes. "Me and Roll get into trouble, and now you want to help. Where were you when we were being yelled at, huh? What's with this sudden interest in me? Why are you suddenly interested in wanting to help me?!"
"Because... because..."
"W-What? What? Please, tell me! I'm dying to know! Enlighten me!" yelled the boy.
"Because... because..."
Try as she might, Zipp couldn't give Mario a straight answer. The teen put his hand on her shoulder as Zipp felt him touch her unexposed skin and looked at him.
"That's what I thought!" said Mario sternly. The boy turned and scoffed as he decided to leave and get away from all of this.
Mario made it back to his dorm, and he shut the door. In the living room was Roll, as the girl had her deck spread out on the table in front of her. She spent the day with the others as they all volunteered to help her get in some more practice ahead of her match. She went over many combos and strategies when she heard the door sound and looked up to see her brother.
"You're back," said Roll to her big brother.
"Yeah," said Mario as he walked past her, looking to go to his room.
"Big bro, look, I know you don't want to do this. But I think you should actually bust out..."
"Not gonna happen, Roll! I'm not doing it!" said the boy.
"You're not even gonna try?" asked the girl.
"You've said it yourself, sis. We're always moving. What does it matter if we get expelled? We'll go someplace else." stated Mario.
"But... this is different. Because..."
"Why! Huh? It is because we have got people here who are friends. Anybody can have friends, Roll. Friends are just a part of life that will eventually fade into obscurity. Mom and Dad always preach to us that friendship is important, yet they don't realize it themselves." scoffed Mario.
"But bro, that's not always true. Mom said that friendship is hard, but no doubt it's worth our wild," stated Roll. "Sunny, Izzy, Pipp, and everybody else we've met. They've become something special. It's something I can't fully describe. I know you feel it as well. If Mom and Dad..."
"Would you just shut up about Mom and Dad!" yelled Mario as he turned to give his sister a pissed-off look. "I've had it! I've had it up to here with that shit!"
Roll looked at her brother, who was like a demon possessed.
"I'm sick and tired of you mentioning them! Just drop it, will you! I don't want to hear you mention them ever again!" growled Mario as he turned and began to walk up the stairs.
"Okay..." spoke Roll softly as she put her head down.
A small tear fell down her cheek as she sniffed.
"I miss my brother," mumbled the girl as she returned to the couch.
Mario leaned against the door inside his room, holding his head high. He turned to the shelf on his left and saw a box. The teen grabbed it as he opened a trunk and threw it in. Slamming the lid shut as it made a loud sound that even Roll heard from downstairs. The boy saw a picture on his nightstand as he flipped it facedown and slumped on his bed to face the wall.
Author's Note: So it seems that both Mario and Roll are in serious trouble for what they did. Though there are some looming questions, like who informed Celestia and Luna about them breaking school rules and why didn't they mention Zipp or Izzy being there. And it seems if both want to continue to attend CHS, they're gonna have to win their scheduled tag team duel set for them. However, it doesn't seem Mario is up for that. Not even with Hitch attempting to persuade him with a duel, or Zipp trying to convince him face to face is enough. And the small confrontationwith his sister about mentioning their parents'names set him off. It's not looking good it seems.
