It was a normal day in Mondstadat, the sun was shining, the wind was blowing the knights were patrolling and Timmy's birds were enjoying some rarely found peace where there's no one out to kill them. Yet.
"Thank you for completing today's commissions." Kathryne spoke with her usual monotone-ish voice.
"Thanks Kathryne!" A joyful and enthusiastic voice answered with a smile, before its owner collected his reward walked away. Said owner had spiky blond hair, blue eyes and a round face with whiskers.
Naruto had changed quite a lot since his arrival to this world. The main change was the ditching of his fluorescent orange clothing, for a more sleek black jacket that reached his knees with a burnt orange fox face drawn on the back. Said jacket was worn over a grey shirt and accompanied by black pants with an anemo vision on the belt and black shoes (Basically, a mini Diluc). He also wore a black cloth headband with a stylized leaf embroidery on it.
"Hey Naruto!" Naruto winced as his name was called, quite loudly mind you, by someone just half a meter behind him.
"Hey Amber!" Naruto turned and greeted his friend just as enthusiastically, before his eyes were drawn to the 2 figures behind her. "Who's the girl and the mascot?"
"HEY! Paimon will have you know that Paimon is NOT a mascot, and nor is she Emergency Food!" It was hard to resist the temptation to just pat her head as she was stomping her feet on the air, but he managed. Amber though, not quite.
"Aww! Come 'ere ya little fairy!" That was her only warning before Amber hugged Paimon to her face and rubbed their faces together.
"Don't mind her. She's always like that with cute things. By the way, I'm Naruto. What about you?" Naruto addressed the other girl who looked worriedly at the fairy that was being strangled by an Amber who was currently drunk on Paimon's cuteness.
"Oh, I'm Lumine. Nice to meet you Naruto! By the way, have you seen my brother? He wears a dark crop-top, baggy pants and a white scarf. He also has an ornament on his left ear. And braided hair that reaches his waist." While Lumine was listing her brother's features, Naruto's face looked contemplative.
"What are you thinking Naruto?"
'That description Lumine gave just now matches his looks and clothes perfectly. If that's the case, does that mean he doesn't change his clothes?'
"Really brat? That's all you have to ask?" Kurama deadpanned at the kid.
"So what are you going to tell her son?"
'I don't know dad. On one hand, I don't want to lie to her but on the other hand…'
A snap in front of his face broke him out of his stupor. "Wah- Did I miss anything?"
Amber giggled "No silly, you spaced out again."
"Oh. Sorry." Naruto apologized sheepishly. "Anyway, I'm sorry to say this Lumine, but I haven't seen your brother Aether around this area. I will, however, keep an eye out for him. I'm quite sure Amber will as well."
"Of course I will! Lumine, you and your brother will be reunited in no time with Outrider Amber on the case. Oh yeah! I almost forgot! I have a gift for you Lumine! Come with me!" With that, poor Lumine was dragged by the enthusiastic outrider with Paimon trying her best to keep up.
Naruto waved at the trio with a smile before feeling a change in the winds.
'The dragon's back!'
"EVERYONE GET INSIDE! NOW!" Naruto's shout was accompanied by a loud roar and a giant sleek blue dragon with six wings and two giant purple spikes on it's back, flying over the city.
Naruto's eyes flashed purple, before he disappeared in a swirl of leaves and reappeared near the statue of the anemo archon in front of the cathedral. With his eyes blue again, he ran up to Amber and Paimon who were looking at the sky worriedly. "Amber! What's the situation!"
"It's Lumine! She got sucked up into a tornado and I can't see her!" Amber shouted over the wind while trying to keep Paimon from floating off without consent.
Naruto shielded his eyes and they turned purple again. This time, there were several consecutive rings on them, creating the unmistakable pattern of the Rinnegan. Naruto looked up and scanned the sky before catching a glimpse of the fearsome Stormterror being pelted with bullets of condensed anemo by the blond girl he met earlier. He could also see a wind current that was keeping the girl afloat, but also some anemo green wisps connecting it to the ground near a certain pub. He also saw the icy blue silhouette of a man with the color condensing near his hip. Seeing this, Naruto narrowed his eyes and turned to Amber, forgetting his Rinnegan, I'll get back-up! The cavalry captain is already on his way!" With that, he disappeared and reappeared near the pub.
In the famous pub, Angel's share, a bard sits playing a lyre. He had teal eyes and 2 small braids that faded from black at the start to teal at the ends. He wore a green cape and hat along with a white shirt and leggings. Green shorts were worn over the leggings and his shirt was frilly near the wrists along with an anemo vision on his belt. Overall, he looked like a girl playing in a school band. As Naruto entered the pub, he was playing his lyre, the tune matching the ebb and flow of the winds. As he listened, Naruto's rinnegan noticed that, unlike with others vision users, the bard's elemental energy was a lot brighter and looked different from other beings. Even those from the abyss order or even the anemo hypostasis didn't possess an elemental signature as potent as this. The color of anemo shined through the bard's body and focused in his chest with it being a lot brighter than the color given off by normal visions. The anemo vision at Naruto's hip, which usually laid dormant when he used chakra, shined bright and thrummed with the bard's music. Naruto sat down in front of the bard and turned off his rinnegan but kept his gaze trained on the bard.
Soon, the bard stopped playing and his anemo vision stopped thrumming. The wind outside also stopped blowing. The bard looked down and murmured some thing unintelligible but the keen ears of Naruto caught the words 'Dvalin' and 'pain'.
"What's your name bard? And mind explaining why a drunken bard like you knows the true name of the feared Stormterror?"
Startled, the bard jumped in his seat before his eyes landed on the smiling face of Naruto. His eyes then fell to his anemo vision and back to the face of the newcomer.
"Whatever do you mean dear knight? I am just a humble bard who goes by the name ~Venti~." Venti said with a strum of his lyre. "If you want to see a performance, that will be 100 mora. But, since we are in a pub, maybe you can buy me a dandelion wine instead and we can talk over a drink? ~"
"Don't you say yes Naru~" The sickly sweet voice of a certain Red Hot Habanero rang out in Naruto's head causing the boy to sweatdrop.
'Ok mom, I won't' with that, Naruto lost his smile and said, "Enough with the games. Why didn't you help with Stormterror?"
If Venti was surprised, he hid it well. "Oh! You shouldn't go thinking everyone is a knight you know. You never know how they will react. Besides, what does a humble bard like yours truly, have to do with the great Knights of Favonius? If anything, you should tell that to the acting grandmaster, ehe ~"
Naruto's face fell. "Sorry, I've been trying to find a vision user for a while now. I thought that with your skill with a lyre, you had great control over the winds and could have helped.." He said with a dejected look.
Then with a smile, Naruto stood up before holding out a hand. "Anyway, my name is Naruto Uzumaki. Nice to meet you Venti." Venti clasped his hand around Naruto's own and firmly shook it. Naruto put his other hand on Venti's wrist and said, "As repayment, here's that some mora. Consider it an apology for intruding on you." After placing some mora in Venti's hand, Naruto hurriedly left before jumping on to the roof of the pub. He saw the bard walking out and checking the time with the sun before being surprised and running off somewhere.
'Let's see if the archons are as pathetic as he said they were,' With that, the blond looked at the church before roof hopping towards the cathedral. Activating his Rinnegan mid air, Naruto transforms to a random civilian before appearing at the statue with a smokeless body flicker. With his Rinnegan hidden, he watched the bard recount a tale from the past as a song. After the story, he was certain that bard was Barbatos, the God of Freedom and the Archon of Anemo.
'Maybe they aren't as pathetic as he thought,' were the boy's last thoughts before he walked off.
*Sometime later*
Lumine was exhausted. Clearing 3 old temples with just a dull blade was tiring work, but in the end, they managed to weaken Stormterror. While making their way back to the headquarters of the knights, Lumine and Paimon see the Acting Grand Master Jean talking to a woman wearing a peculiar mask and coat. "Isn't that Jean? Let's let her finish and give the good news." Lumine nodded and they crept closer.
"… Which is what brought us here in the first place. If you are incapable of promptly dealing with the Stormterror threat, leave the defense of this city to the Fatui. We can put an end to this by bringing that monster to the-"
"Monster?"
"Yes. What's your point?"
"Well, I'd except a more professional attitude from your diplomats, but here you are, saying you want to 'put an end' to one of the Four Winds of Mondstadt. I won't have any of this nonsense in front of the Knights of Favonius."
"Heh. It's not as crazy as you make it sound. Anyway, I think that's enough negotiations for today. Consider this … an exchange of opinions. I'll make … thorough notes on this encounter."
"Is that your way of saying that you will fabricate a lie to your archon?" A jovial voice asked mockingly.
"And who are you boy?" the diplomat asked the new comer.
"Who me? I'm the ringmaster for your little Fatui circus. But as for you, you can call me Naruto." The blond's answer was casual like an exchange between friends.
"Who are you calling a circus?"
"Is the shy lady angry? ~"
"You dare insult me like that boy!"
"I mean you are wearing a mask and a terrible looking one at that. I mean even this is better." With that, the blond pulls out a mask resembling a fox and puts it on. "Besides, it's not like your diplomats can do much except yap your faces off about your archon."
"This is a uniform! And you will NOT Disgrace IT nor THE FATUI!" And with that, the diplomat stormed off.
"Bye! Take that eavesdropper there with you please!" As soon as she was out of sight Jean let out a light giggle and it looked like she was struggling to hold her laughter.
"You ok Master Jean?"
"Yeah. It's just that I've never seen her that mad before. You really got a talent for that kid." Jean said after releasing most of her laughter as giggles.
"Wow, Paimon didn't think she'll ever meet someone with the guts to talk to the fatui like that." Lumine and Paimon appeared around the corner.
"Neither did I Paimon. So, Honorary Knight, I take it your travel guide explained what the fatui are?" Jean asked the duo.
"Yeah. Paimon said that the fatui are envoys of the Cryo archon, given god-like executive authority by said archon. Looks like thy have become more of a problem than just envoys." Lumine recapped what was told before looking at Jean.
"Huh. What do you know? The mascot is right." Naruto directed the statement at Paimon who started stomping the air.
"HEY! That's the second time you called Paimon a mascot! As punishment, she'll give you an ugly nickname. From now on, you'll be … ummm… AHA! You'll be Whiskers!"
"Huh?" looking flabbergasted, Naruto was quick to make a comeback, "Well then, you'll be known as Yapping Fly!" Naruto and Paimon stared at each other before crossing their arms and turning around with a 'hmph'.
Lumine and Jean awkwardly stared at each other before shrugging and walking towards the head quarters, soon followed by an irate Paimon.
Naruto on the other hand, walked to around the city for a while, before seeing the bard from earlier. With his vision, Naruto flies up before landing on a part of the circular structure around the statue in front of the cathedral. This time, the bard sings a different song. One about a dragon and the anemo archon. Eventually, he sees that Lumine was also present and that the trio were surprised by the crystal being pure.
"So she has some of her power left?" Naruto activates his rinnegan and focuses on Lumine. 'Kurama. Take a look at this.'
"Huh. Her silhouette is teal but there is a crack?"
'Look at the crystal.' The dark miasma from the crystal was absorbed into her body as the crack grew larger and a light golden light flowed out of it. 'So Durin's energy is corrosive to her seal? What do you think dad?'
"Looks like it. But we can't say for sure."
'Ok. I'm going down.' With that, Naruto quietly landed on the ground, deactivated his rinnegan. And ran towards the trio. "Lumine! Yapping Fly! Venti!"
"Whiskers! You know this bard?"
"Yeah. Of course I know him. He's quite the figure. Oh, by the way, I heard your song yesterday. It was quite the performance."
"Why, Thank you young knigh-" "Though you did sound like an old man reminiscing. And I'm not a knight by the way.."
Venti turned his head towards Lumine while Naruto gave him a pat on his back. "Don't worry it was still quite good! Anyways, I just wanted to greet you. I'll be on my way." With that, Naruto ran and jumped off the edge before landing with his anemo vision. He runs off towards the pub, where a man with red hair, red eyes and a bored expression was serving at the bar, while a brunette with an eye patch and diamond shaped pupils was drinking some dandelion wine.
"Hello old man!" Naruto called out with a smile, startling Kaeya and making a small smile appear on Diluc's face.
"Hello Naruto. How was your day?" The normally stoic wine tycoon asked with a small smile. "And don't call me an old man."
"Ok fine dad." That's right people. Naruto somehow got adopted by Diluc Ragnvindr. Ever since then, Diluc has been slowly developing connections and becoming at least a bit more expressive. He even repaired his bond with his estranged brother Kaeya. Speaking of which,
"Don't forget about me Naruto." The cavalry captain said with a smile on his face. He, just like a certain acting grandmaster was quite glad that his bond with Diluc was repaired. Maybe they could go back to when they were children again.
"Hey uncle Kaeya!" Naruto greeted before taking a seat at the barstool. The trio talked into the night before,
"Hi! We'd like a seat at your.. ah least conspicuous table."
2600 words. Long chapter! Idk if I'll make this long of a chapter again.
So yeah Naruto's got a Rinnegan. For context, Naruto has this because Nagato gave him the rinnegan's chakra, which, after adapting to him, gave him a rinnegan. Also, it acts as a switch between his vision and his chakra because he would be too op if he could use them at the same time. When he uses chakra, his vision goes dormant and if he wants to use chakra for a technique, he has to activate his rinnegan. Also, he won't be reliant on his eyes.
Also, what weapon should Naruto use? No catalyst or bows though. They don't fit his style. I also have some custom ones in mind for him but I'll let the readers decide.
As for pairings, I have some rules. First off, no and I mean NO harems. Feel free to comment some potential ships but some girls will be off limits for some reasons. Lisa – too sus, Jean – I ship her and Diluc, Rosaria – She looks more likely to kill you than have a relationship, and lastly Klee – do I even have to say it? That is a child. Maybe other girls will be offlimits once I unlock more regions, but for now, I am currently playing liyue.
