Weeks laterThe boys were on their way to class, when they got cut off by a girl with chessnut hair.
Izuku's eyes widened, and he said, "Uraraka, hi, how have you been?"
Uraraka's smile twitched, and she said, "Oh. I have been great, not like I've been waiting for a call or a text from you."
Ayoama's eyes widened a little, and he said, "I will leave you two to talk."
Tenko nodded and said, "I will go get some breakfast."
Izuku was sweating as he looked at his crushes, angry face.
"Um... I can explain"
"Then explain."
"I... well I..." *Sigh* "I'm sorry, I should have called or texted or something... It's just... something changed and"
Izuku was cut off by Uraraka's chuckle as she said, "I know, but..." Uraraka's face flushed red and she continued, "I haven't heard from you in a long time, I've only heard from other people, and I started to think that you were just playing me..."
Izuku understood what she meant. He knew it looked wrong, to talk, and seem interested just to completely cut all communication.
"I understand, I'm sorry...can we try again?" Izuku asked.
Uraraka smiled and reached her hand out.
"Uraraka Ohako," she said.
"Izuku Midoryia," Izuku replied, shaking her hand with a wide smile.
"Mind getting a coffee sometime? or maybe some Mochi?" He said.
"You got my interest, Mr. Midoryia." Uraraka said with a blush and a happy smile.
Later
Izuku was at lunch with his friends, staring at nothing in particular. His face was flushed, and his food was forgotten.
Izuku muttered something, "I asked a girl out on a date, or maybe it doesn't count as a date, maybe she sees it as an outgoing between friends, but the way she smiled. She was beautiful. I mean, I would want to go out with her."
Tenko was watching closely and said, "I think this is the first time that he mutters about something else other than heroes."
Ayoama was looking wide-eyed and said, "I think we I think we should stop him before he runs out of breath."
Izuku was cut off by a hand on his shoulder.
He turned around to see Bakugo glaring at him.
Bakugo squeezed his hand and told him, "Shut. The Fuck. Up. Deku."
Izuku's face hardened as he took Bakugo's hand off his shoulder.
Bakugo put his hand back on Izuku's shoulder, smirking.
"Get your hand off of me, Bakugo. Or else." he said angrily.
Bakugo laughed and said, "Or what? you will hit me with your 'new' useless quirk?" Bakugo said, with emphasis on the word "new, " and started to slightly active his quirk, smoke coming out of his hand.
"How dare you look down on me, you useless nerd. All these years you were looking down on me, hiding your power. What? Was I too weak for you to fight back against?" He taunted.
People were starting to form around them, ready to see a fight, some recording with their phones while Tenko and Ayoama tried to de-escalate the situation.
"Don't look down on me. Go on, do something." Bakugo said.
The students around started to chant, "Fight. Fight. Fight. Fight."
The boys were interrupted by Tenko pushing Bakugo.
Bakugo stumbled back away from Izuku, surprised at the strength used.
"Back off, he hasn't done anything to you." Tenko said, snarling.
Bakugo was mad. How dare this extra push him. He would show off his strength as the top of the school.
Bakugo was about to use his explosion when he noticed something. Izuku was clenching his fists, the lights flickering.
The lights went out, and Izuku took his chance.
He took Tenko and Ayoama's hands and flew out of there with their bags.
When the lights turned on, the students saw that Izuku and his friends were gone.
Bakugo snarled while explosions popped loudly in his hands.
With the boys.
Izuku landed on the school roof and said, "That was new. I didn't know we could affect electricity. It's kind of creepy but good."
Tenko landed next to him and said, "I remember when we were in the hole, and I was recording, my phone was turning off and on. I thought it was because it was a broken old model, but I think I know why now."
Ayoama landed next and said, "I think we should test this new thing before using it again. I don't think you would want to cause a school black out."
Izuku wanted to say something, but he realized something.
"That wasn't me..." he said.
"What do you mean?" Tenko asked.
"When Bakugo touched my shoulder. Normally, I flinch or freeze up... but this time, I just felt anger. I felt like hurting him... I wanted to break him...That wasn't me, was it?" Izuku asked, his voice wavering at the end.
Ayoama and Tenko stayed silent for a second.
"I felt the same." said Tenko after some silence.
"Could it be that what happened to us changed us more than we thought? Could it be that we are connected in more ways than one?" Ayoama asked.
Izuku nodeed and said, "I think I will skip school today, I have some things to think about... alone."
Ayoama nodded and replied, "I think I will skip school too." He looked at Tenko and asked, "What about you?"
Later
Tenko was eating ice cream and said, "I think I will get vanilla chocolate ice cream next time."
Ayoama was next to him and said, "I told you, vanilla chocolate is the best ice cream flavor there is, and you can't argue about it."
Tenko smiled and said, "I think my mother would agree with you to be honest."
The two boys stayed silent for a while.
"Hey, speaking of which, what's up with your dad, what does he do?" asked Tenko.
"He's a firefighter," answered Tenko.
"Oh, that's cool, oh man, when I was little, I used to -"
"Or, well, he used to be." Tenko added.
"Oh man, what happened? Is he ok?" asked Yuga.
"Well, yeah, he's not dead or anything. It's just... he got injured on the job and he can't walk normally. " Tenko replied.
"Oh, I see, and what does he do now?" continued Yuga.
"Nothing much, he walks around the house sometimes. Some checks still come in from time to time due to his effort on the field, and he will use it on beer... We take care of my mother. She's sick and needs a special medicine to breathe properly." Tenko said while moving his spoon around in his empty ice cream cup.
"Oh man, I'm sorry I didn't mean to... bring up anything personal. You don't gotta talk about it, but I'll listen if you want me to..." Yuga said quickly, scared he might have asked too much.
"Thanks, it's nothing new though. I'm used to it at this point. He gets drunk sometimes and beats me, but nowadays, I'm not home that much, so he hasn't done anything. But enough of me, what about you? how is your family life doing?" Tenko asked.
Ayoama shrugged and looked down at the city.
They were sitting at the top of a sky scraper, with their bags beside them.
Yuga finished his ice cream and said, "To be honest, things haven't been that well..."
Tenko looked at Yuga and said, "I understand that."
Yuga sighed and said, "I think my mother might actually be cheating on my dad."
"They used to talk a lot. They had this connection, but all of a sudden, my mother started to get distant. She got home late, had manny missed phone calls... yeah... They think I don't know much because I don't talk about it with them, but I know what the glances they give to each other mean." Ayoama said.
Tenko nodded in understanding and patted Yuga's shoulder.
"Hey, maybe we should clean that beach in Musustafu." Yuga said.
"Maybe, it could help us get stronger." Tenko said.
A couple of seconds go by in comfortable silence.
"I think we should be going. School is about to finish." Yuga said.
With Izuku
Izuku was walking home, but saw Uraraka and walked up to her saying, "Hey again. Sorry I wasn't in school in the afternoon, I wanted to avoid drama with Bakugo."
Uraraka smiled and said, "I understand, but I hope you decide to stay for our date."
Izuku blushed and said, "Of course I will."
Izuku got his first kiss that day.
