Here it is. The first chapter of my new story. And surprise! It's Date A Live!

As the usual disclaimer, I do not own anything related to Date a Live.

? POV

"So, you are awake."

I wake up to the voice of someone speaking to me. I could not see their face, however. In fact, their figure was simple made of ethereal light energy. Their voice was male. I could at least figure that out. Who are they?

"I see you are confused who I am." The figure spoke with amusement. "You may simply refer to me as 'God'."

God? I am speaking to God?

"Now, let us focus on you. Do you remember who you are?"

Who I am... Let's see...

My name is Fuyu Hana. I come from a Japanese family, I was nearly finished with my education, and my favorite pasttime was reading manga. The last thing I remember was dying in a hospital bed due to an illness my family couldn't afford because my father suddenly died.

"I see. That's good enough." God hummed in approval. "To put it simply, I have been watching you up to your death. Your family has suffered a great tragedy due to yours and your father's untimely deaths, and so I decided to take pity on you. You will be reincarnated into another world. What you do with your new life, however, is up to you."

I was given no chance to reply - if I even could, before God raised his hand at my, and a bright light consumed my vision.

Blinking my eyes, I find myself in the middle of some sort of crater.

"What the fuck?" I blurt a curse out loud, and immediately note the change in my voice. I sounded a lot younger, almost childlike.

I look up and see drops of water falling from the sky. It's raining. Wonderful. I mean, I like rain, but I would've like a clear blue sky for my first day in my new life. I decide to look around the area I was in, but just as I leave the crater, I hear a quiet whirring sound behind me. Turning around, I see a few dots in the sky coming closer. As they come closer, I notice what they are.

'That's a bunch of girls wearing mech suits.' I think to myself as I see about a dozen girls approaching me in skimpy mech suits. 'Hang on, I know those outfits.'

"Hermit has been sighted. All troops, engage!" One of them spoke in a tone that gave herself away as the commander. Hermit? Is that the codename of-OH FUCK THEY'RE POINTING GUNS AT ME!

My mind and body go on autopilot as I raise my right arm and summon a wall of ice to block all the gunfire, something I didn't even know I could do. However, I soon find myself looking at the wall of ice, and I freeze (no pun intended) when I see my reflection in the ice.

A little girl wearing an oversized green raincoat with a rabbit theme, sporting a poofy tail with a pink ribbon tied to it on the coattail, and a pair of rabbit ears on the hood. The coat is lined with a gold zigzag pattern, white frills, and the sleeves are partially detached at the upper arms. Green boots match the color of the raincoat with pink socks inside, and under the raincoat is a white dress and a pink ribbon around the girl's neck.

But most importantly... I see a white rabbit puppet with an eyepatch over the right eye, with the visible left eye being red.

That's Yoshino's puppet friend, Yoshinon, and the girl herself is Yoshino Himekawa, the Spirit that controls water and ice. And that girl is me.

I've been reincanated as Yoshino Himekawa!

I couldn't stay shocked for long as I hear the sound of missiles being launched. I quickly jump back as the missiles impacted my ice shield and destroyed it and took off running. I noted that I was going pretty fast. Granted, I was pretty athletic in my past life, but I don't think I was this fast. However, I do remember that Yoshino herself has a pretty high Agility stat. 212, if I remember correctly. Still, that's not enough to completely outrun the AST as they continue firing at me.

Gritting my teeth, I try my best to quickly remember everything I knew about Yoshino. She has the ability to control all three forms of water. That means water(liquid), ice(solid) and steam(gas), but the third one has never properly been showcased, if at all. Still, I do have a few ways to escape, like perhaps a miniature blizzard that would obscure their vision. And with Yoshino's Reiryoku stat being 199, the blizzard should last long enough for me to escape.

With my plan set, I skid to a stop and face the AST. "Finally decided to stop running, Spirit?" The AST Commander asks. Looking at her closely, I realize that she doesn't look anything like Ryouko Kusakabe. In fact, I don't see Origami anywhere in the squadron.

Have I actually been sent back to pre-canon?

"I do admit that this game of cat and mouse has gone on for too long." I say in reply as I focus my Reiryoku. "Time for me to get Lost!" Slamming my open palm into the ground, I create a storm of ice and snow around me, and then use the diversion to quickly disappear to someplace else. No doubt I would end up in the Spirit World.

Huh. So this is what it feels like to be floating around in the Spirit World. Since I'm here, I take the time to get all my thoughts together.

I've been reincarnated into Yoshino Himekawa, the Water Spirit of Date A Live. And the current time seems to be pre-canon. How long, I do not know, but if Origami has yet to join the AST, it's gotta be at least 5 years - sometime before the Tengu Fire incident that killed her parents. I'll have to find out the actual time next time I return to the human world.

I then turn my attention to the hand puppet on my left hand who will be my only companion for the majority of my time. "Yoshinon?" I speak to her, however, she doesn't respond, or even move. So this is before Yoshino made the wish that brought Yoshinon to life. I'm starting to wonder how far back I really am...

I decide that my first order of business is to bring Yoshinon to life. Yoshino did so by wishing for a friend, and Mio did say that the Sephira Crystals can grant wishes. Giving it a try, I focus onto my Sephira Crystal, wishing to bring Yoshino to life. I feel a glow in my heart where my Sephira Crystal resides, and then I feel my Reiryoku begin to travel through my left arm and connect to Yoshinon. After a moment, I feel Yoshinon begin to move.

"Howdy, partner!" I hear Yoshinon greet me. I smile as this marks the beginning of my new life in Date a Live.

I know the ultimate ending of this world, and I'm gonna do what I can to change it to a happier ending.

This one is inspired by another Date a Live fic called 'Wait, did I become Tohka Yatogami from DATE A LIVE?'. It is a reincarnation fic where someone was reincarnated into Date a Live as one of the Spirits. However, knowing the ultimate fate awaiting them, they work to change their fate and stay alive. In that story, the MC was reincarnated as the main heroine, Tohka Yatogami, but for my story, I'll be giving the lead role to everyone's favorite Ice Spirit, Yoshino Himekawa!

And yeah, this story starts pre-canon. Whether God intended for this or not, who knows?
