Elijah let himself, Elena, and Niklaus into the Salvatore home. He'd decided to let Elena come. She deserved to confront him, and one way or another, this would be her last chance for that. By the time he was done here, Stefan Salvatore would never have the chance to get near his daughter again. He'd likewise brought Niklaus with him for the same reason. Stefan's actions had had the potential to hurt Niklaus the most. It was him that their father wanted to kill.

Elijah was not yet sure what he was going to do. In almost every other instance, Stefan would die. His actions could've killed his entire family, and they had put Elena in danger. What if his father hadn't been interested in a deal? What if he had instead wanted Elena dead for what she was, or to hurt the rest of them? Placing his daughter in danger would guarantee a slow death to anyone else. However, despite her anger, Elijah didn't think Elena wanted Stefan dead deep down. She had loved this boy at one point. He had to take that into consideration.

"Alright, Elena, I will let you have your say, but should I ask you to leave and wait for my outside, you will do as I say. Do I make myself clear?" Elijah asked. That would be what happened if he ultimately decided to kill Stefan. Again, he had not made that decision yet.

Elena nodded. "Yes, Dad."

Soon, they all heard footsteps. They turned to see Mikael coming down the stairs. "Ah, I see you've come to deal with the idiot and his brother."

Klaus took Elena by the arm and pulled her behind him.

Mikael chuckled. "If I wanted to hurt her, do you think the likes of you could stop me, boy?"

"What are you doing here?" Elijah asked.

"Well, since the Salvatore boy brought me here, I only thought it fair that he show me some hospitality, that is with what little time he has left on this Earth. I would've killed him myself, but I figured the least Elena was owed was the chance to do it herself.

"My daughter is not a killer, and if Stefan dies, it will be by hand," Elijah said sharply.

"Have it your way, son," Mikael said with a shrug.

Elena soon heard voices coming from the living room, which returned her ire immediately. She sidestepped around her uncle and immediately headed for the living room. She immediately heard Damon's voice.

"This was your stupid idea, and now we're probably both going to end up dead because of it!" Damon snapped at Stefan.

"I was trying to protect Elena," Stefan argued.

Elena walked up to Stefan and slapped him across the face. The blow was strong enough to send him crashing to the floor. She'd had a blood bag this morning, so her strength was at its peak.

"Elena, listen. I did it for you. I…" Stefan trailed off suddenly and grabbed his head as the magical aneurism hit him. "Ah! Stop!"

"You tried to kill my family?! My dad?!" Elena asked heatedly. The moment she saw his face and heard his voice, her hatred for him got worse.

"They're a threat to you! I was trying to protect you!" Stefan yelled through the pain.

"If I need to be protected from anyone, it's you. Did you know that Mikael kidnapped me last night? It is only by sheer dumb luck and a greater enemy that he didn't do worse damage! You unleashed an unknown variable on my family! Oh, no, not unknown actually, because I told you about Mikael. I told you what he was capable of. I trusted you!" Elena yelled.

"He wasn't supposed to find out about you. He compelled me," Stefan said, still clutching his head.

"Yeah, that's what happens when you go after an extremely volatile vampire. What did you think was going to happen? Did you really think you could kill my father and my aunt and uncles and I'd fall back into your arms?"

Stefan didn't respond.

Elena ended the aneurism before making a gesture with her hand, causing Stefan to choke, similar to the way Stefan had told her that Lucy Bennett had done with Katherine. "I love my father, Stefan! If you had gotten him killed, I would've killed you myself!"

Elena soon felt a pair of arms on her shoulder. She didn't need to turn around to know it was her father. She wasn't sure when he had entered the room, but he had probably been there most of the time.

"It's okay, sweetheart. I'm right here. I'm okay," Elijah said gently.

"He could've gotten you killed! He could've gotten all of you killed!" Elena cried.

"But he didn't. I'm right here," Elijah promised her.

Elena calmed down a little and released Stefan, causing him to couch almost violently.

"Give me a reason why I shouldn't kill you. You nearly took everything from me!" Elena snapped.

It was a couple of moments before Stefan could breathe well enough to answer. "They're monsters, Elena. They would've destroyed you."

"And what does that make you? How many people have you killed? You're a damned ripper! Don't talk to me about monsters!" Elena snarled before turning to Damon. "And what part did you play in this?"

"I tried to stop him. I tried to get him to see reason," Damon told her.

"If that's true, why didn't you come to me when that didn't work?" Elena asked. She mostly believed Damon. Damon had backed off of her not long after he found out Katherine was her mother. He had no reason to be a part of this.

"Because I was afraid your family would kill him," Damon told her.

"What do you think is going to happen now, mate?" Klaus asked.

"Please, Elena. I know you don't owe us anything, but please don't let them kill my brother," Damon begged. He didn't know if Elena had any control over her family, but he had to try to save his brother's life.

"What am I supposed to do, Damon? Let him continue to be a threat to me and my family? He's never going to stop! He's delusional! I can't let him be a threat to us anymore, and even if I could, they certainly won't," Elena said as she pointed to her father, uncle, and grandfather, the last of which was standing several feet away from them with a grin on his face.

"I'll get him out of here. We'll leave Mystic Falls. You'll never see either of us again," Damon promised.

"That's not good enough," Elijah said before walking towards the older Salvatore. "Even if I were to trust that you were telling the truth, how am I to trust you can keep him under control?"

Damon didn't say anything for a moment. Elijah was right. He wasn't entirely certain he could control Stefan. He might be able to for a little while, but he couldn't watch him every moment. "Compel him. Compel us both if you have to."

Elijah considered it for a moment before turning to Elena. "It's up to you. You are the one he hurt the most. For that reason, I should already have his heart in my hands, but I think that eventually, you would be upset by his death. It's your choice."

Elena went over to Stefan and roughly grabbed his chin, forcing him to look her in the eyes. She had never tried what she was about to. She wasn't sure it would work, but she was going to find out. "Tell me the real reason you did this. Tell me what you have against my dad."

Stefan was in a trace as he spoke. "He changed you. You were perfect before. You were human. You came to me for everything. I was the only one who could protect you. That changed when you met him. You became a witch. You stopped counting on me. "

Elena sneered. So, Stefan's problem with her and family was that she had become stronger with them. She could take care of herself more, and she had a parent to stand up for her. Everything good about her life was bad for him. She wanted nothing more than to kill him. However, that was mercy. He'd be dead and wouldn't feel any pain. She wanted to hurt him. "You are going to pack your things and leave this town tonight, Stefan. You will never come back here. You will never come looking for me or my family again, and you will never send anyone else after us. If I ever see your face again, I will kill you. Do you understand?"

"Yes, I understand," Stefan said emotionlessly.

Elena let him go and stood up.

"One more thing. He compelled us not to leave," Damon said as he pointed to Mikael.

Elena turned to Mikael expectantly.

"You would show them mercy after what they've done to you?" Mikael asked irritably.

"This isn't mercy. Killing him would be mercy. You'll notice, I didn't compel him to forget me," Elena said before glaring down at Stefan, who looked devastated. "I want him to remember me. I want him to know that I hate him. I want him to know that he lost any good feelings I ever had for him when he came after my family. I want him to know that he is the one I see as a monster. That will torture him for centuries."

Mikael slowly smiled before turning to the Salvatores. "You can both leave now. Do as my granddaughter says."

Elena turned to Damon. "Do I need to compel you too?"

"No. Thank you, Elena," Damon said. He knew he owed her for Stefan's life. He would keep his word. They would never return to Mystic Falls.

"Just go. That's how you thank me," Elena said before heading out of the room.

Elijah was right behind her, as were his father and brother. "Are you alright, sweetheart?"

Elena nodded. "I'm still pissed, but I'll be okay."

"Good. I'd like you to wait for me in the car while I speak to my father. Niklaus, go with her," Elijah said. He needed his brother out of the room too. It would become very hostile with his father and brother in the same room. He wouldn't blame his brother for it, but he needed a civil conversation with him. As civil as possible anyway.

"Absolutely not!" Klaus immediately snapped. He wasn't leaving Elijah alone with their father.

"Niklaus," Elijah said in warning.

Klaus sighed before leading Elena out of the house.

"She truly is a Mikaelson. Her strength and rage prove it. I'd be proud to call her my granddaughter," Mikael said.

Elijah turned and glared at his father. "My daughter is nothing to you. I have great disdain for the fact that she was even exposed to you."

Mikael rolled his eyes. "Part of the deal with Elena was that the truth of your mother's death be revealed. I see that hasn't happened yet."

"It has actually. Niklaus told us it was him. I don't care. It was never the reason I hated you. I hated you for the brutality you treated myself and my siblings with, especially Niklaus. That hasn't changed. I want nothing to do with you. Unfortunately, I may not have a choice," Elijah said.

"So, you've come to your senses and seen that an alliance between us is for the best. I assume Elena has spoken to you about our agreement," Mikael said.

"She has. I haven't made a decision on the matter, but I see the benefit of listening. I will hear what you have to say, but not now. Come to my home tomorrow around eleven am. I'll hear you out," Elijah said. Elena and Jeremy would be at school then. He didn't want them there when he had this conversation with his father.

"Very well," Mikael said.

Without another word, Elijah left the house.
