If you could set ice on fire, that was how Ezra felt. Not quite in reality but neither escaped from it. The little pyramid levitated in his hands emitting a wicked glow and it almost hissed as Ezra withdrew and set it down. With a sudden sigh, Ezra's eyes opened to reveal them flash with red, like a horrible flame had swept across his eyes, but within mere moments his eyes were back to their normal shade of blue. Running a hand through his long hair, he carefully hid the demented holocron before clipping his lightsaber to his belt. Slinging a small satchel that contained a flask of water, a couple basic medical supplies and a ration bar or two, Ezra headed out of his room and into the Ghost.

Kanan felt as though half of him was burning, though it was through his own stubbornness that he allowed this. Back to the sun, Kanan desperately tried to reach out to the force around him to allow his to better see in his own way, but it felt as though the force had abandoned him. He knew it wasn't true, that the force was the only reason that he could see at all, but it frustrated him that he couldn't improve. The ground crackled and crunched behind him a sure sign that someone was coming and he turned to face the person.

"Ezra and the crew are headed on another mission love." Hera spoke. She moved to sit on the scorching dust beside him before continuing "I'll be staying here with you, unless you would like to go."

Kanan could have laughed at her words. She wasn't even trying to be subtle.

"Hera, I'm perfectly able to make my way around the base without help. If you want to, you can go." Kanan chuckled.

Kanan smiled when he could see the outline of a pout on her face.

"I'm not leaving you here alone, Kanan." She retorted.

"You're too stubborn for your own good, darling." Kanan laughed.

She smiled slightly before she returned to a more serious topic. "You know, they all miss you."

Kanan sat silent.

"I'm still here." He replied after a moment of hesitation.

"You know it's not the same. The whole crew feels it. They've all changed because of it, especially Ezra." Hera argued.

"What do you mean?" Kanan questioned softly.

Hera softened her voice, forcing it to be stronger than she felt. "Sabine doesn't draw much anymore, at least, not that she shows people. Zeb hardly plays around. Even Chopper has stopped trying to sass the crew. And Ezra," She sighed trying to find the right words. "Ezra isn't a kid anymore. He blames himself you know."

Kanan sighed heavily. "I guess I'll tag along," he said with a poor attempt at a smirk at the end.

Hera smiled and nodded.

The mission was simple get the coordinate of the next weapons shipment. There was nothing complicated about the mission and for once everything was going off without a hitch. Ezra managed to grab the coordinates and download them to a flash drive without a single problem. Sabine had easily been able to distract the stormtroopers and she hadn't been caught. Even Zeb and Chopper had done their tasks without any problem. The mission went off without a single hitch until a something tripped the alarm. Nobody knew who did it and it wasn't really as important to pass the blame as it was not to die. Stormtroopers immediately started to rush back to the building blocking Ezra's exit. Kanan didn't want to admit it but he was borderline very concerned, but Ezra didn't even appear frazzled. Instead he simply help his hand out and the nearest troopers froze before collapsed to the floor unconscious. The remaining troopers kept heavy fire aimed on Ezra but he hid behind the metal entrance. As the next couple troopers came forward, Ezra aimed his abilities toward then and they flew backward with a powerful blow when he jerked his hand forward, as if manually pushing them away. With no troopers left to fire at him, Ezra sprinted toward the ghost, signaling for Hera to swoop down low so that Ezra could jump onto the deck. With a tremendous leap, Ezra boarded the ship.

Suddenly a blaster bolt narrowly avoided Ezra hand and he sharply turned around catching sight of a determined storm trooper firing at them still. Kanan admired the soldiers determination, though it didn't matter in moments they would be far out of reach. But Ezra did not share his feelings. Instead, Kanan felt a dark shift in the force, something horribly unnatural coming from a kid as young as Ezra. A icy sensation crawled over Kanan making its way toward Ezra and Ezra watched in silence as his pupil directed a blast of electricity from his saber toward the trooper. It hit the soldier in the leg and the man collapsed with a howl of pain. The icy feeling left Kanan but he could still feel the dirty feeling of darkness when he touched his padawan's shoulder.

"Let's go."

Ezra turned annoyed, but regained control over his feeling easily. Following Kanan through the halls of the ghost, he found the rest of the crew besides Hera already in the center of the ship. With a little lurch but a feeling of weightlessness, Ezra could feel the ship jump into hyperspace and Hera came out to join her little family. Kanan held a contemplative expression, while the others shared a mixture of relief and happiness that the mission had gone well enough, better than usual at least. Ezra seemed to brighten up while surrounded by the crew but Kanan suspected that under the surface, not all was as it seemed. Without sharing in the festivities, he left the room making his way toward Ezra's room, feeling small pinpricks of energy in the force the closer he got to Ezra's room, they weren't distinct enough to lead Kanan exactly to the creator but Kanan was no fool. It only confirmed his suspicion's that the sith holocron was stored somewhere on board and Ezra was using it.

Kanan furiously made his way back to the main room where the others were, hearing the others joking and laughing with one another. Something inside him softened just a little and he managed to calm down. Serenely but with determination, Kanan made his way over to Hera and pulled her aside
