Pyrrha took on all of Cardin's team. I wish I could say it was close. I wish I could say they stood a chance but really she just demolished them all. She flipped and slammed Cardin into the ground by the neck using her spear as a brace.

"And that's the match," Miss Goodwitch stepped into the ring.

From his knees Cardin grumbled, "lucky shot." I don't know who he thought he was fooling. Pyrrha outclassed him and his whole team.

"Well done Miss Nikos. You should have no problems qualifying for the tournament."

"Thank you Professor," Pyrrha inclined her head.

"We have enough time for another match. Miss Belladonna. You've been rather docile lately. Why don't-"

"I'll fight," a silver haired kid with dark eyes raised his hand.

"Mercury Black, was it? Very well. Now for your opponent…"

"Actually, I was wondering if I could fight her," he pointed at Pyrrha.

"Me?" Pyrrha wondered.

"Pyrrha has already fought. Why don't you-"

"No. It's fine," Pyrrha smiled at the boy and he smirked at her.

"If Pyrrha consents then I have no complaints. Very well. Step into the ring."

Black took long steps from the bleacher down to the ring. He fronted on Pyrrha with his long black pants and gray top. She raised her weapons. Black struck first with a side kick. It rattled Pyrrha. Pyrrha managed to block. He lashed out in a chorus of blows with his legs with Pyrrha deflecting each and every one.

"Hey your friend is doing pretty good," Ruby murmured to Black's partner. Or at least the girl he'd been sitting beside.

Pyrrha blocked his kick against her form arm and Mercury managed to disarm her with a bicycle kick. Black was knocked back by Pyrrha's shield and rode it.

"I forfeit," he proudly announced the next moment.

"You- you don't even want to try?" Pyrrha wondered.

"What's the point? You're a world famous fighter. We're obviously leagues apart."

Miss Goodwitch stepped into the ring once more. "Very well. Miss Nikos wins. Again."

Pyrrha had an annoyed and disappointed look on her face. She shuffled back to the locker rooms.

"Next time you may want to think a little harder before choosing an opponent." Goodwitch informed Black.

"I'll be sure to do that."

"That's all for today. And remember the dance is this weekend. But you all have your first missions on Monday. You will do well to recall you are representing Vale. You're dismissed."

"Hey, Blake! You uh, doing okay?" Sun wondered.

Blake shut the book she was reading. "I'm fine."

"So I hear there's this dance going on this weekend... ah, sounds pretty lame, but you and me, I'm thinking, not as lame, huh?"

"What?"

"The dance! This weekend! You wanna go, or what?"

"I don't have time for a stupid dance. I thought you of all people would get that." Sun's expression sank and he moved away from her to his team.

We started making our way to the dorms. I followed Ruby's team at a respectable distance.

"Blake," Ruby whined.

"Come on," Yang frowned. "We want you to go to the dance."

"You what?" Blake folded her arms.

"We want you to go to the dance," Ruby repeated her sister.

"That's ridiculous," Blake dismissed.

"Blake, we're worried about you. This investigation is starting to mess with your head," Yang continued.

"You can't sleep, you hardly eat, and to be honest, your grades have been suffering," Weiss counted off on her fingers.

"You think I care about grades? People's lives are at stake!"

Yang took Blake's hand. "We know, and we're all still trying to figure out what Torchwick is up to."

"Thanks to you and Sun, we know they're operating somewhere outside of southeast Vale."

"And, the Schnee company records singled out Vale as the primary target for Dust robberies over the last few months."

"Don't forget about their missing military tech too," Yang kept up.

"But there's still unanswered questions!"

"Blake, you won't be able to find anything if you can't even keep your eyes open!" Ruby exclaimed.

"All we're asking is that you take it easy for one day," Yang requested.

"It will be fun! Yang and I will make sure of it," Weiss followed.

"Yeah! We're planning the whole event!" Yang cried.

"Excuse me?" Blake wondered.

"Team CFVY's away mission lasted longer than expected," Weiss shrugged.

"So, Weiss and I were asked to pick up where they left off. And now we can make sure you have the perfect night," Yang explained.

"And once it's all over, we'll return for our search, rested and ready," Weiss reassured.

"So what do you think?" Ruby asked.

"I think this is a colossal waste of time,' Blake dismissed her friends and walked away. "I'll be in the library."

"Great," Yang sagged.

"She can't keep going on like this," Weiss chimed in.

Weiss shut the door to their dorm. I quickly walked into my dorm and grabbed my guitar. I walked back across the hall and knocked on team RWBY's door.

Weiss opened it.

"Weiss!" I sang while strumming the guitar.

Weiss slammed the door in my face.

"Oh, come on, open the door! I promise not to sing," I called out.

Weiss opened the door.

"I lied! Weiss Schnee, will you accompany me, to the dance on... Sunday!?" I sang.

"Are you done?" She asked me. I shrugged.

"Yes?"

"No," she slammed the door in my face again. I sighed heavily.

That night, Pyrrha and I were sparring at our spot on the roof. We clashed and for a heartbeat I thought I was winning until Pyrrha swept the leg out from under me and knocked me down.

"Well done!" She laughed angelically. Her green eyes were full of mirth. "Your swordplay improved immensely."

She helped me back to my feet.

"I couldn't have done it without you," I grinned.

"So, are you ready to move on to Aura?"

I shook my head. "I was actually thinking maybe we just skip Aura for tonight? Might go on a jog or something."

"Come on, I know you get frustrated, but you must keep trying. I'm sure you'll discover your Semblance any day now," she encouraged.

"That's not it. It's just…" I hesitated. "It's dumb."

"What is it?" She wondered. She approached me and put a hand on my shoulder. "Jaune, you know you can tell me."

"It's... Weiss," I confessed.

"Oh?" She had to wonder. "What about her?"

"I asked her to the dance and she shot me down. Big surprise, right?"

"Well, I believe the saying goes: There's... plenty of fish in the sea."

"That's easy for you to say. You've probably got guys clamoring over each other just to ask you out."

She laughed lightly. "You'd be surprised."

"Oh please. If you don't get a date to the dance, I'll wear a dress. Heh," I banished the thought.
