The Thousand Sunny had accosted at a small island earlier today. It was a very small island, covered from head to toe in flowers. From the looks of it, the flower field stretched to infinity. One would say that the flowers were really the only thing worthwhile to see. There was no secret forest to explore, just a few mountains very far away, and no marine base to bother the Straw Hat crew.

Luffy had jumped at the occasion. On an island like this, there was no reason for his crew to deny him a little fun, which was why he was left unsupervised. He had wandered by himself until he reached downtown, which had a rural but busy vibe.

Luffy was having fun. He was enjoying the moment. Even if there was no adventure, strictly speaking, he was following his own imagination-filled mind, and he was having a grand old time. He was walking down the busy city streets, sniffing around, enjoying the view and talking with the residents. Luffy loved those moments as much as he loved adventuring.

At some point, he arrived at the marketplace. He saw Sanji and Brook in the distance, checking a stall which had a blushing young shop girl. Luffy didn't interrupt them. Nami was heading there anyway.

He looked left and right. There were stalls with clothes and food and wood and trinkets… But one of them was stranger than the rest. One of them was selling flowers, which was a strange thing to sell in a town surrounded by flowers. Luffy found himself drawn to it.

"Hey there, sonny! Are you interested?"

The vendor was ridiculously gigantic compared to how small his stall was. He had a friendly face that reminded Luffy of Jinbe, with a broom-like moustache and a badge that read "Papa Fleur". Most importantly, he had a straw hat on his head that matched Luffy's.

"Hello mister moustache! We have the same hat!"

"We do, son!"

His laugh was like Garp's and the familiarity of it drew a smile on Luffy's face. This man was safe.

"Why are you selling flowers, mister moustache?"

"Why!" Papa's eyes sparkled. There was a childish excitement in his behaviour, coupled with the most careful manners a man of his size could have. He was looking at his flowers like they were some sort of treasure. "Because these are special!"

"Really?!" Luffy yelled. He loved special stuff. "What do they do?!"

Papa leaned in to tell Luffy his secret. The captain was in awe.

"These flowers grow in a very small patch, between two rocks, behind the mountain, on the other side of the island. It's very difficult to go there, and the flowers are sparse." There were hardly any flowers in the seller's shop. Maybe fifteen, twenty top. They all looked ravishing. "I call them Bloombow, because each flower blooms in a different colour, just like a rainbow. But there's more. Want to know what?"

Now Papa had Luffy's full attention.

"These are magical flowers. They will bring you luck and…"

He stopped and looked around as if to keep his secret safe. Luffy was captivated by his words.

"…if you give them to someone you love, it will bring them happiness."

The captain's eyes widened. Papa's crinkled smile made it impossible to know if he was joking or not. Any sane-minded person would have doubted, but this is Luffy we're talking about, and Luffy was ecstatic about this mystery.

"REALLY? MAGIC?" Luffy yelled.

He started bouncing like a spring. Papa had to stop him before his shop could be knocked over.

"Calm down son! Everyone can hear you!"

Luffy stopped immediately. He wanted to keep the secret. No one could know about this and stop him from getting the flowers!

Because, yes, he was getting the flowers.

"You see," Papa said, "I don't tell that to everybody. But you? You look like you believe me when I say they're magic. I don't know why…"

"I know why!" Luffy shouted-whispered, as if telling a secret back. "It's because we both have a straw hat!"

Papa's laughter roared. Luffy soon joined him. Then the captain got a simple and honest idea:

"Oh! Right! Mister moustache, can I get some flowers?"

"Ha! Sure son. How many do you want?"

"Eight."

Papa looked up at Luffy. The captain kept his smile up while the other man studied him. He guessed Papa was evaluating him or something. After all, you can't give magical flowers to just anyone.

It seemed like Papa had found the answers he was looking for, because he started picking up the most beautiful flowers in his shop and wrapping them in a newspaper page.

"All different colours, I suppose?"

"Yes!"

Papa finished wrapping them up. He handed them to Luffy, which took them with an abnormal delicacy.

With a final word, the florist said:

"They will find their way back to you."

As expected, Zoro was the last crew member to get back to the boat. Well, technically, Luffy was the last one. Their captain had yet to come back before they all tucked in for the night, but since there hadn't been any fights or any sort of explosion in town, they were pretty confident that Luffy hadn't caused too big of a commotion.

Zoro was angry because, once again, the crew had moved the Sunny without telling him. He had wandered for an hour before finding the boat. He jumped on the Sunny. Robin was in her lounge chair, reading and enjoying the last rays of sunshine. Usopp and Chopper were chatting animatedly over there, and Dartbrows had just walked out of the men's quarter in a different suit than earlier. Zoro didn't want to know why he needed to change.

He lingered around until he decided to go to his favourite napping place. That's where he saw it. At the exact place where he usually napped, attached by a string to the one bar he liked resting his back on, there was a flower. A weird flower. Not like any he'd seen before. It was green and when he touched it, it made his fingers tingle.

Zoro didn't care for flowers. He would have thrown this one away, but it had been placed meaningfully. Zoro's mind went to danger, but since it was in such a strategic place, the swordsman guessed it was from someone in the crew. He didn't want to go around and ask but… curiosity won over. He went back to the main deck.

It was calmer than before. Everyone had left, except for Robin. The same flower was stuck in her hat.

"Purple?" Zoro said as he noticed the difference.

Robin softly put down her book. Zoro felt queasy as she examined him with her ever-present mystifying smile.

"Mr Swordsman. Yours is green, how fitful."

Before he could say anything back, the kitchen door flew open and a tornado of love swirled outside.

"My sweet Robin-chwan!" Sanji kissed the air. "I found your flower! How nice of you! Thank you for this wonderful present! I will cherish it forever!"

Robin chuckled. Zoro grumbled as he was forced to move back to let the cook pass. Sanji had a flower too. His was blue. The cook was focused on his Robin-chwan and had yet to notice the grouchy swordsman.

"If my theory is correct," Robin answered, once Sanji had calmed somehow, "all of us have received a flower, cook-san."

She took off her sunglasses and nodded in Zoro's direction. Zoro looked lost and stupid, hanging onto his green flower with a clenched fist. Sanji kept his mouth shut, but his face contorted in what could only be a contained sneer. Zoro barked out a "YOU!" but was thankfully interrupted by Robin's fake cough.

"They aren't mine," she explained, "and I believe they aren't from anyone in the crew. I was the first to come back, and they were already there. This is a specie I am not familiar with."

Sanji seemed to finally sense the danger. He stilled, more serious now that his precious Nami-san and Robin-chwan could be at risk.

"Could they be dangerous?" Sanji replied almost instantly.

Contrary to the boys, Robin seemed relaxed about the whole situation. Or was she being devious? Zoro couldn't read her expressions well. All he knew is that she was having too much of a good time for someone with so little information.

"They could be presents from the villagers." She said maliciously.

Sanji's stress seemed to level down. He was now looking at his flower with a pout. Zoro was still eyeing their archaeologist suspiciously. He had the feeling she was tricking them, but he couldn't prove it for sure.

"If you are worried, maybe we could call doctor-san?" Robin suggested.

"My Robin-chwaaaan! So thoughtful!"

"Chopper's here?" Zoro interrupted Sanji.

Robin rose from her lounging chair. She crossed her arms. A few pink petals flew away.

"Everyone is here, except for our captain."

"Then call everyone."

It was something the entire crew needed to discuss.

Chopper and Usopp arrived first. They had a flower each. Chopper's was pink and Usopp's was yellow. The rest of the crew dropped in at their own pace, each carrying a differently coloured flower.

Chopper told them that there was nothing medically dangerous about the flowers. They were just a bunch of inoffensive, good-looking plants. The only weird thing about them was how they had appeared at everyone's favourite spot.

"Did someone buy them?" Nami asked, both interested and angry about it.

All of them shook their heads 'no'. Sanji confessed to buying them for the girls, but no one believed him. Nami punched him. They asked Robin, since she had been the first one to come back, but she knew nothing of it.

Then, quietly, Chopper raised his little hoof and said:

"Maybe they're presents from the villagers?"

It wasn't the most believable answer, but Chopper's puppy eyes and the lack of other solutions made it so that everyone was tempted to believe him.

Before they could talk about it more, they heard a familiar laugh, followed by a stretching sound. Suddenly, Luffy's hands were grabbing the rail, and he was there. He had crashed in their little improvised party with as much gusto as usual.

"Everyone!" Luffy yelled. "Why are you having a meeting without me? Are you planning a secret party? I want in!"

"Fuffy..." Usopp's voice was a little squashed, probably because Luffy had landed on him. The sandal was squashing his face. "Get off flease."

Luffy didn't, and no one moved to help him.

"Oooooh! You got the flowers! Shishishi!"

"Yo ho ho! Indeed, we do!" Brook laughed. "Do you know those flowers, captain?"

"Yeah! They're from Mister moustache!"

Usopp pushed Luffy, but it didn't help. He tried to get the captain's attention by grappling with whatever he could. Luffy was unperturbed.

"Do you have one?" Asked the musician.

"Uh?" Luffy didn't understand why he would have kept one for himself. That was stupid! They were gifts for his crew! "No? Why would I?"

Franky grabbed his attention and Luffy went on chatting with him. He unknowingly released Usopp, much to Chopper's relief. The rest of the crew was half-gathered on the side.

"So they really are a gift from the villagers," Sanji concluded. "Why didn't they give Luffy one? Was it on purpose?"

"Doesn't matter if it was on purpose or not," Zoro grumbled. "He doesn't have one. And he's gonna notice soon."

"He'll be insufferable for the rest of the day when he does." Nami sighed. "What can we do?"

Robin didn't add to the conversation. Her mysterious smile had somehow become even more mysterious, borderline cunning. They paused for a second, but the solution was so obvious that they didn't need to discuss it. They all shared the unspoken need to care for their captain, and it felt weird to have something that Luffy didn't.

"Luffy. Come here." Nami spoke up. Without waiting for her captain to obey, she sharply stepped to him and slapped the flower on his chest. Luffy caught it before it could fall.

"What?" Luffy asked, confused. "What's that?"

"It's yours."

"What?"

"It's your flower!"

"Eh?" Luffy tilted his head to the side. He looked really confused. "It's not mine. It's yours."

"Well… I'm giving it to you. So it's yours now."

"You're GIVING IT to me? But… But then you won't have one!"

Nami half-froze. Her mishap had put Luffy on edge, and now he was probably getting suspicious. The last thing they needed was for Luffy to catch on to their plan. Thankfully, Usopp's well-timed lie distracted Luffy from Nami before he could think too much about it.

"Yes!" Usopp came to her rescue. "It's uh… A welcome back symbol! From the villagers! And a good luck charm! So here! Take my flower too !"

A weak lie, but Luffy didn't have time to contradict him. Franky followed through, giving him his flower, just like Usopp and Nami had.

"Yo! That's right! Here's mine!"

His big hands slapped Luffy's back, and he dumped the flower in his captain's arms. Then it was Chopper's turn to stutter an excuse. He raised his hoof as high as possible for Luffy to grab his flower. Brook's display of affection was in the form of a poem, before giving his flower to the captain. After, it was Sanji's – no, Zoro's… – Sanji's… well, it was both their turn. They bumped their hands while trying to give Luffy their flower and started fighting. Robin caught the delicate flowers before they could get smashed. She added hers and gave the whole bouquet to Luffy.

Luffy held the bouquet in his hands. It was flourishing. Each flower had its own vibrant colour, making it look like their captain was holding a rainbow.

"Shi shi shi! It's like magic!"

With so many flowers in his hands, Luffy looked like a little boy. He was covered in blue, yellow, green, orange, black, white, pink… Each one of his crew's colours filled his arms. The falling petals that swirled down were like twinkling little lights. Luffy's smile grew and grew. A burst of sudden laughter caught him by surprise. His eyes were crinkled with joy.

It was a common sight to see Luffy smiling at a joke, or smirking in battle. This, however, was not comparable to either of those. Luffy was radiant. He was laughing, arms full of the flowers he had received from his crew, and it looked like nothing and no one could disturb this moment.

"Shi shi! Mister moustache was right, they really came back!"

He laughed, and his crew shared this moment with him, while Robin braided a crown of flowers to king their captain with.

And everything was perfect on this beautiful day.
