One day, while Christine was rehearsing for a new show, Philip went into her dressing room and
and left a red rose wrapped in black ribbon on the table by the mirror and a red box with a beautiful ring and the note inside it. It said:
"My dear! You are so beautiful and charming, and your voice is as beautiful as anyone's. You, with
your beauty and your beautiful voice, you have taken me into your power and I can only think about you so that's why here is all these flowers and the rose are for you, but the ring... it's special because I hope you will accept it and make me happy by becoming the owner of my heart and life forever. I love you and there's nothing I can do about it!
With love and respect,
Philip."

That was the note, and although Philip himself was in love with Christine, all he did was
for one man, his brother Raoul, and he would put the red rose with the black ribbon to remind her of the night of her debut at the Paris Opera, the first time she rejected Raoul and for the first time gave her preference to Erik. It was part of Raoul's revenge plan, because Philip had written a letter to Raoul the week before, telling him about a beautiful young girl, the opera singer Christine DaaƩ, and he had raved about her in the letter, said that he likes her very much and that he thought he was probably in love with her. When Raoul received this letter and read it, he was very happy, but at the same time unpleasantly surprised and even jealous, because he didn't like the way Philip wrote about Christine and above all, he didn't like the fact that now Philip was also in love with Christine, so that mean another rival, who was his own brother, appeared, but Raoul was not angry with Philip and did not hate him because his main rival was Erik and it was with him he has to deal with. After reading the letter, Raul immediately started to write a reply and told everything about Christine and Erik, also about his love for her and asks his brother to left Christine in peace and never think about proposing her, although he understood his feelings, but they both had to deal with their main enemy, Erik, or the Phantom of the Opera. Raoul also asks Philip to not to tell anyone that they are brothers, especially Christine and Erik - they will never not to know until Raoul himself arrives in New York and tells them everything. Raoul also wrote a revenge plan that they both had to do and the first point of the plan was to remind Christine of Raoul's first rejection - that she understood how Raoul felt then, that she understood what she did. Rauol will inform Philip when he will arrive, for now he has to do what Raul ordered. When Philip received his letter, he was also surprised to find that he had fallen in love with a woman who was meant for Raoul, and he understood that he would not go in there, but would help his brother in every way, and having read everything, including the revenge plan, he took action. He did everything that needed to be done in Christine's dressing room, he went back to the hall to watch the rehearsal and, of course, Christine. After the rehearsal, Christine went into the room, went inside and saw the beauty that was there, she was confused because she didn't understand nothing, but when she saw the rose with the black ribbon, at first she thought Erik did it but then she saw the note and the red box. When she saw it, she felt happy, for she thought that this was Erik's way of proposing her, but when she read the note she was surprised and didn't understand anything anymore, because now, after reading the note, it all seemed strange to her. Christine, of course, knew that many male admirers were in love with her, so the fact that Philip, the headmaster himself, was in love with her, didn't seem strange to her, but what did seem strange was the way this room was arranged, because it reminded her of something. Flowers everywhere and above all, the rose with black ribbon - it was like that at the opera, on the night of her debut, when she first went to see Erik and when she met Raoul again for the first time in many years. Christine no longer understood anything, but one thing she knew was that Erik couldn't have done all that, because he never wallowed in the past and in memories. Christine sat down at the mirror table and began to think things over again - from the very beginning, since Philip had seemed strange to her with all his manners and behaviour, reminded her of someone all the time, and that someone was Raoul. Christine thought:
"Yes, Philip has always reminded me of Raoul, because of the way he treats me, his manners and the way he talked - somehow it all fitted together with Raoul, but what could they have
in common?"
Suddenly Christine remembered her childhood, when she and Raul were still children, and recalled how Raul once had told her about having an older brother whom he didn't see so often because he and his father often travelled and was away. Now Christine understood everything, she understood that Philip and Raul were brothers, she also understood that all this was probably arranged by Philip on Raoul's behalf, but above all, she realised that she and Erik were in new danger here, especially Erik. But she didn't want to run away anymore, she was tired of it and decided that they would both fight for their happiness to the end with the brothers de Chagny. After changing her clothes, Christine tiredly went home, but when she came out of her room, she bumped into the person she least wanted to see at the moment, Philip. When Philip saw Christine, he examined her with a great deal of lust and passion, and said:
"Miss Daae, how did you like the room, the signet and the ring?"
Christine felt anger coming on, but restrained herself and said:
"Thank you, sir, for the flowers. They were beautiful and smelled very nice, but speaking of
the signet and the ring, I cannot accept it and I cannot answer you, because my heart already belongs to another and I am very happy with him. I am sorry that I have to upset you and hurt your feelings, but unfortunately I can give you nothing but my talent and now excuse me, I would like to go home. I am very tired and I want to go to sleep. Goodbye, sir!"

Of course Philip was not at peace with this answer and knew that Raoul wouldn't be either, and he also knew that it would happen, because Raoul had told him all about it, including the possibility of Christine's rejection and that meant that the next point of the plan had to be dealt with - kissing Christine, because that was what Raoul had planned in the first place, but Philip couldn't resist, the more than anything he wanted to kiss and savour Christine's soft warm lips and her kiss and
did it himself right now. When Christine tried to walk past him, Philip grabbed her elbow,
turned her towards him, pressed her close to him, and kissed her, burning with desire, passion and pleasure. Christine was not surprised, because he was Raoul's brother and their actions were just like the same, Christine was sure of it now. Christine tried to get out of his tight grip, resisted by hitting him with her hands, but it didn't help. When Philip let her go, Christine kicked him in the face and finally walked away to home. She had already decided that she would tell Erik, because she didn't want to hide anything from him - now she needed his help more than ever. Meanwhile, Philip felt very satisfied and happy because he had kissed the woman he loves so much, even though he knew he could never be with Christine, because she was meant for Raoul and Philip
didn't want to ruin his relationship with Raoul because of a woman and the main thing was to get
to deal with the real unwanted enemy and rival of both of them - this Erik or the Phantom of the Opera. Christine went home, still crying, and went inside the apartment, Erik find her in this state
and Christine threw herself into his arms. Hugging her tightly, Erik realised that is something to do with Philip and wanted to know what had happened. After calming down a bit, Christine told him everything about the room, about the proposal, about the ring, about the kiss, and above all about her discovery that Philip was Raoul's brother and that now they, and above all Erik, were in of a new danger. Now Erik was very angry, furious and jealous because he could not protect Christine from Philip, but above all, he was angry that they were probably not destined for a happy and peaceful life, because they would have to fight again for their happiness against two brothers who wanted to separate them and against one in particular, because it looks like he doesn't want to make peace. But in all this chaos, Erik something realized - realized that he had to do something to make Christine finally belong to him - he had to finally propose her, and even though it wasn't the right night, he was all prepared. Calming down, because Christine always calmed down in Erik's embrace, Christine wiped her face, tidied herself up and went to the dinner table, which Erik had set while waiting for her. After they had eaten dinner, Erik walked over to where Christine was sitting, got down on one knee and finally said the words he had long wanted to say and that Christine had long wanted to hear:
"Christine, my Angel of Music, I love you very much and thanks to you I have changed, and I would like to finally merge our lives into one, so I ask you - Christine Daae, will you do this honor and become my wife?"
Christine was so happy when she heard this question and she didn't need anything more. She
said with a smile:
"Yes, my Angel of Music, I will become your wife!"
Then Erik put a beautiful diamond ring on her finger and the two of them kissed each other passionately. At that moment, Christine forgot everything that had happened that night, even the unpleasant kiss and enjoyed the moment.
Then Christine said:
"Thank you for finally doing it. I am so happy. Now we just need to set a wedding date
and finally unite to the marriage ties. I don't want to wait any longer, I want to finally be your
wife. I think we should do it as soon as possible, before Raoul comes here and will beginn another fight for our happiness."
Erik looked at Christine, happy but also concerned, and said:
"Please, dear, and you're right - we really need to do this as soon as possible, because it seems that this will going to be a very hard and difficult fight. I think we could do it next week! What do you say?"
Christine said nothing, just shook her head in agreement and they fell back into a passionate kiss. So came the following week, without any intervening events on Philip's part and no news from
Raoul. Philip knew nothing about the wedding, as Christine and Erik were very careful to hide it from everyone, except, of course, Madame Giry and Meg. They knew and were happy for them, wishing them much happiness and love in their future and new life. And so the day of their wedding came - both got dressed beautifully and went to the church, where the two, alone, married quietly and now at last Christine became the wife of the famous Phantom of the Opera...
