Chapter 101: "Dragon's Enigma"
The blaring alarm sends shockwaves through the guards stationed at the capture room. They abandon their posts and race toward the captured cell in a swift, synchronized response. As they arrive, their eyes widen in both astonishment and trepidation. A small 3-foot dragon sits inside the cell, clutching a book protectively to its scaled chest.
Sergeant Valerianus, the senior officer among the guards, swiftly assesses the situation. He turns to his colleagues and issues orders, his voice laced with urgency.
"Go alert the Captain immediately. Let him know that the capture spells have been triggered, and we have a prisoner. The magic has been identified as Hadrian Potter."
Two guards, clad in Lorica Squamata armor made of enchanted metal alloy, intricately engraved, and adorned with the House of Potter's emblem—a magnificent dragon coiled in readiness—hurriedly depart to deliver the critical message, leaving Sergeant Valerianus and the remaining guard to watch the dragon and the mysterious book.
The Captain arrives. Captain Romaelius is a commanding figure, his poise and authority unmistakable. Standing at 5 feet, he is a fully outfitted legionnaire attired in service of the House Potter. His Lorica squamata is made of enchanted metal alloy, intricately engraved, and adorned with the House of Potter's emblem. The magnificent dragon coiled in readiness on his chest armor seems to come to life, exuding an aura of power. His shoulder plates allow fluid movement, and his greaves protect the lower leg. His boots are designed for swift and silent action. His helmet, crafted from a magical alloy, is crested with phoenix feathers, offering complete protection. His very presence commands attention with its remarkable and imposing nature.
Beside him stands Sergeant Tiberion, equally formidable in stature and demeanor, embodying the same impressive appearance and characteristics. Their skin bears a unique shade of grey, hinting at their transformation from house elves into a different, more military type of elf. Their voices pitch higher than the common folk, carrying an air of authority.
Their weaponry includes slender, finely balanced gladiuses with hilts wrapped in dragon leather and finely crafted daggers, each a work of art and functionality.
Captain Romaelius's sharp eyes scrutinize the dragon and the mysterious book, his expression inscrutable. "What's happening here, Valerianus?"
Sergeant Valerianus replies, his voice carrying an air of authority. "Captain, the capture spells were activated, and we found this creature in the cell. It's holding a book, and the magic is unmistakably Hadrian Potter's."
Captain Romaelius raises an eyebrow, his eyes narrowing in curiosity. "Hadrian Potter? Are you certain, Valerianus?"
"Yes, sir," replies the sergeant. "It's Hadrian's magical signature."
Captain Romaelius nods in understanding. "Take the prisoner to the interrogation room; those Pseudodragons always know something. Also, alert the engineers to come and take the book and ensure it's safe before the sages study it." "I will warn the Colonel of the events taking place," states the Captain as he walks out.
Chapter 102: "Aelarian's Orders"
Captain Romaelius strides purposefully through the bustling corridors of the Fort Griffin Legionnaire headquarters, his Lorica Squamata subtly humming with every step. The guards salute him as he passes, acknowledging his authority. His destination is the office of Colonel Aelarian, the esteemed leader of the Legion.
The Colonel's office is a testament to both power and sophistication. Maps detailing strategic locations, framed commendations, and a massive tapestry depicting the House of Potter's emblem—a majestic dragon coiled in readiness—adorn the walls. Aelarian's polished mahogany desk is meticulously organized with stacks of parchments and scrolls. A model of a dragon, crafted with exquisite detail, serves as a paperweight. The room is bathed in the soft glow of enchanted lanterns, casting a warm and authoritative ambiance.
As Captain Romaelius enters, Colonel Aelarian, a seasoned elf with a commanding presence, rises from his high-backed chair. His enchanted Lorica Squamata, similar to Romaelius's but with distinct markings, sparkles in the lantern light. The Colonel's silver hair is cut short in a military manner, and his eyes are piercing blue.
"Captain Romaelius," Aelarian acknowledges, his voice carrying the weight of years of experience and authority. "What brings you here in such haste?"
Romaelius salutes fist to heart. "Colonel, we've encountered an unexpected situation. The capture spells were triggered, and we found a small dragon in the cell. The magical signature matches that of Hadrian Potter, sir."
Aelarian's eyebrows furrow in a mix of surprise and concern. "Hadrian Potter? That's highly unusual. Bring me up to speed, Captain."
The Captain recounts the events in detail, describing the peculiar circumstances surrounding the capture of the dragon and the mysterious book it clutches protectively.
Colonel Aelarian listens attentively, fingers steepled in thought. "This is a matter of grave importance, Romaelius. If it is Hadrian's capture spell, we must proceed cautiously. Pseudodragons are known for their intelligence and insight. Prepare for an interrogation."
Romaelius nods in agreement. "I've already ordered the interrogation and sent for the engineers to examine the book, sir. What should be done next?"
"You have done what's necessary; inform me of any developments. Also, dispatch a messenger to inform the sages; they might shed light on the nature of the book. I will join you shortly."
As Captain Romaelius leaves the Colonel's office to carry out his orders, the air in the room retains a sense of gravity. Colonel Aelarian, with a deep exhale, looks at the maps on the wall and yells to the corporal at the desk, "Get me, Captain Feliona of Speculatores Augusti." His gaze fixed on the tapestry of the coiled dragon. This emblem has guarded the House of Potter through countless wars.
"There is no reason to scream, Colonel; I am already here," stated Captain Feliona, a magnificent and imposing figure among the Felinari. Standing approximately 6 feet tall, she possesses a well-proportioned, athletic build that balances strength and agility, with a weight of around 160 pounds distributed evenly across her muscular frame. Feliona's fur boasts a rich, deep golden hue reminiscent of a lioness, adorned with subtle patterns of lighter and darker shades that mimic the mottled patterns of sunlight filtering through a forest canopy. Her mesmerizing emerald-green eyes shimmer with intelligence and hidden depths.
Clad in leather armor, Feliona cuts a striking figure. The dark leather is expertly crafted to fit her form, providing protection and freedom of movement. Intricate designs etched onto the armor represent the magic she wields and the symbolism of her noble lineage among the Felinari. Her sword, known as "Clawblade," features a hilt adorned with intricate carvings resembling lion motifs.
"I have a job for the Speculatores Augusti. I need you to send out your scouts and find out what's happening with the Ministry and if our enemies are gathering."
"Of course, Captain Feliona answers,"
"Just passive scouting, for now, no captures or interrogations yet. Just watch and listen." Colonel clarified his orders.
"Of course, Colonel. Passive scouting only." Feliona responded. "I understand, Colonel," Feliona salutes and walks out.
Chapter 103: "Dragon's Wake"
Back at the Ministry of Magic, chaos erupts. Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, exclaims, "This cannot be happening! How did masked criminals attack the alley?"
"I already told you, Minister, we are looking into it," Director Bones replies.
"The Masked wizard was identified once an Unspeakable removed the mask. He was identified as a captain in the ICW special security forces. The ICW is sending a team here to look into one of their captains being in the Dragon Cabal," Director Bones answers.
"I won't stand for it or allow it," the Minister yells at Director Bones.
"You have no choice, and you can't stop them. They have all the power they need unless you wish to go against the ICW. I think you would be stripped of your title and thrown into a dark prison cell. I warned you; I needed more money for Aurors, but you listened to Malfoy. Now you are reaping what you sow," Director Bones responds.
"It's your responsibility to keep the alley safe and secure from threats," the Minister retorts.
The Director laughs, "That won't work. I am on record saying we need more of everything. You and Malfoy are on record saying we are safe and have nothing to worry about. This falls squarely on your shoulders, Minister. I hope you are ready for the consequences of your actions."
The Minister looks at Director Bones one last time and walks out of her office, slamming the door. Bones turns and looks at Moody, "I need your professional opinion on what happened in the alley."
Moody sighs, "Those wizards knew how to fight. I would say on the level of masked Death Eaters. The dragon-masked wizard would be in the category of the inner circle. Potter was fighting for his life and using magic we had never seen before. He was throwing around green spells that were not the killing curse."
"How do you know they weren't the killing curse?" the Director asks.
"Easy. Potter was silent, casting without a wand, and fired the magic from his hand and whole body. It was not just bolts; it was balls. I have no idea how the lad went from in front of the mage to behind him when the mage summoned the dragon's head and unleashed hell down the road."
The Director shakes her head, "How is it possible for a 13-year-old to have that kind of power? I do know one thing: someone has trained Potter to fight. He used wandless magic, but Potter used a sword like a goblin warrior."
"What I am about to suggest, I know you won't like, but I think we need to show Croaker and Albus the memories we collected from the fight once we put them together in a sequence," Moody proposes.
She looks down, "You are right; I hate the idea. But they have been studying ancient magic longer than anyone I know. The headmaster was taught by an immortal. Croaker has been the head of the Department of Mysteries for over 40 years, if not more. We must interview Mr. Potter when he wakes up and gets his side of the story."
"You should know, Director; the Daily Prophet is running a story about the battle in a special edition tomorrow," Moody informs her.
"What do you mean?" she asks, looking at Moody.
"From my sources, it seems they had three photographers around the alley at the time of the attack," Moody says with a grin.
Bones smiles, "This is good news. Take a squad of Aurors and seize the original footage. Tell the editor, Bryce Payne, if he gives you the original prints, we won't seize their entire special edition set for tomorrow. If they give us trouble, we will seize everything, and they can wait until the investigation is complete before they can get their papers back."
Moody laughs, rubbing his hands together, "This will be fun." He walks out, yelling for the alert squad.
Bones shakes her head, "This is starting to feel like old times, and those were not good times." She starts reading the reports on the attack, hoping to find something to help solve the mystery of the Dragon wizards and Potter.
Chapter 104: "A New Dawn"
At the Magical School of Hogwarts, a stern and stiff-walking professor climbs the stairs to the headmaster's office. As she arrives at the door, it opens.
"Ah, Minerva, what a pleasant surprise. I thought you were still at your estate," says Albus.
"I was until I heard the news that masked wizards attacked Diagon Alley," she responds.
Albus stands up, "Death Eaters," he asks.
"No, Albus, it was not Death Eaters. From what the wireless is reporting, they were wizards or individuals wearing dragon masks."
The headmaster shakes his head, "The Cabal is operating in Britain. Are you sure about this, Minerva?"
"Yes, it was on the wireless. A reporter was broadcasting from the scene, and they said Harry Potter saved many lives."
"Harry was involved in the fight," Dumbledore asks.
"Yes, Albus, that's what the broadcaster was saying. Mr. Potter engaged the wizards when they started attacking the Aurors on guard duty. According to one of the witnesses who watched the battle, Mr. Potter killed the masked wizard with a sword," Professor McGonagall replies.
"It seems we have another visitor," Dumbledore states. As they both turn, Professor Snape's cloak billowing behind him enters the office.
Professor Snape looks at the headmaster and Professor McGonagall. "You know the alley was attacked."
Both McGonagall and Albus nod their heads yes.
"Mr. Potter was at the battle and had killed several dragon-masked wizards," Snap states.
"Are you sure that he killed them?" Albus asks.
"Yes, the potion supply is right down the road. The Owner had an unobstructed view of the battle. He said Potter went spell for spell and won using a sword. Not long after I talked to him, the Aurors showed up and took a copy of his memory," Snape replied.
"The description of Potter does not match what we know of the brat," Snape remarked. The brat is now apparently a psychopath who is killing wizards with swords and spells.
"Wait," Professor McGonagall asks, "why doesn't he fit the description?"
"Must I talk slower? He is taller and heavier, and he no longer wears glasses. I have never heard of the magic they say Potter was using," Snape answers.
"How could the brat be a lackluster student, average at best, yet be able to take on a member of the Dragon cabal?" Snape asks.
"So, you did recognize the mask they were wearing. Albus asks.
"Yes," "the shop owner quickly described the mask. He was easily a captain, if not higher, in the Cabal." "He is not someone you would want to cross wands with, but Potter did and killed him," Snape explains.
"This is most disturbing; Mr. Potter has this amount of power at his age," Dumbledore states.
"That's not all; the shop owner also said he was casting wandless," Snape Informs them.
"Is that even possible? Professor McGonagall turns and looks at Albus." Professor McGonagall asks.
Dumbledore, who was slowly stroking his beard? "Yes, it is possible, but I have never heard of such a wizard other than Merlin himself." Both professors were stunned by this admission.
Snape looked angry and sneered. "This must be a misunderstanding, or those wizards who saw this were wrong. Potter is not that powerful!" Snape almost shouted.
Professor McGonagall looks at the headmaster and Professor Snape, "But if you look at everything Mr. Potter has done at this school. He saved the stone, fought a possessed professor, and killed a basilisk with a sword just last year. The very same sword he used to kill the masked wizard." Professor McGonagall says calmly.
"Perhaps Mr. Potter, for whatever reason, is not showing his full potential in class?" Professor McGonagall asks.
"Why would Potter, of all people who like to show off, hide his so-called potential?" Professor Snape shouts.
"If you let your anger go of his father, you would see Mr. Potter is nothing like James; you just can't see past his appearance." Professor McGonagall states.
"We have been over this ground before, and I am sure we will travel it again at some point. We must now determine what happened in the alley and where Mr. Potter went after the battle." Dumbledore says firmly toward both professors.
Snape looked at the headmaster; "I was told he was taken to St. Mungus for his battle wounds."
"I do not understand how we are to keep him safe if he runs at it every time there is danger, not away from it. Headmaster, we should let him learn his lesson about running into trouble." Professor Snape asks.
Professor McGonagall looks at both the headmaster and Snape. "What do you mean to keep him safe? Mr. Potter has almost died every year he's been at Hogwarts!"
"If Mr. Potter was taken to St. Mungas by the Aurors, we could not talk to him. I have wasted enough of my precious time to bring you the news. I will be in my quarters if you need anything else." Professor Snape informs them and walks out, slamming the door behind him.
"What are you going to do, Albus? Professor McGonagall asks?
"I agree with Professor Snape. The Aurors will not let anyone talk to him until they thoroughly interview him." Dumbledore answers.
"I believe I have missed something because it seems something has changed in young Harry. He wishes to step out of the shadows and show his authentic self. This is most interesting: Mr. Potter has always had a knack for trouble, and now he has power." Dumbledore states.
Professor McGonagall replies, "He still has an aptitude for finding danger. How do you think the student body will react to him?"
"I have no idea. It depends on how many will be jealous or afraid of Mr. Potter." Dumbledore replies.
"If they respond negatively toward Mr. Potter, I would not hazard a guess that Mr. Potter's reaction will be." Professor McGonagall states.
Chapter 105: "Deals in the Shadows"
Umbridge's toad-like features contrast sharply with the darkness that envelops the room, creating an eerie atmosphere. Umbridge's sickly, sweet voice breaks the silence as she addresses the Warden.
"Warden, I've come with a significant request on behalf of the Ministry. We require the temporary assistance of three of your dementors for a special operation."
The Warden, a tall and gaunt figure with a cadaverous face, regards her with curiosity and trepidation. His gravelly voice inquires, "What kind of operation are you proposing, Madam Umbridge?"
Flashing a sickly sweet smile, Umbridge blinks slowly. "We've received information that a fugitive, Sirius Black, may be on the Hogwarts Express when it departs for the new school year. We believe he might attempt to use the train to escape. We intend to search the train for him, and the presence of the dementors will ensure that he won't escape."
The Warden nods slowly, seemingly intrigued. "I have already released twenty dementors to the Minister Aurorers for the train search. What role will these additional three dementors play in this operation?"
Umbridge leans in, her voice dropping to a hushed whisper. "Once on the train, the dementors will be unleashed to search for Harry Potter. Their ability to sense fear and despair will make it nearly impossible for him to hide. And, when they find him, we know dementors can be quite effective in such situations."
The Warden considers her proposal. His skeletal fingers steepled together. "Dementors are not typically used in such a manner. They are meant to guard this prison and feed on the despair of our inmates."
Umbridge nods. "Of course, we understand that this is an unusual request. But we must locate and end Harry Potter before he becomes a further threat to the wizarding world."
The Warden gives a reluctant nod. "Very well, Madam Umbridge. You may have your dementors for this operation. But I must insist on one condition."
Umbridge raises an eyebrow. "And what would that be, Warden?"
The Warden's eyes gleam with a hint of malice. "I will expect suitable compensation for their temporary absence from their duties."
Umbridge hesitates for a moment but eventually nods her agreement. "Agreed, Warden. We will ensure that you are compensated. The Ministry appreciates your cooperation in this matter."
The unsettling meeting concludes with the knowledge that dementors, the darkest creatures in the wizarding world, will soon be unleashed on the Hogwarts Express.
Chapter 106: "Goblins at the Ministry Oh my"
Elizabeth Harrington exudes a slender and graceful presence, her stature reaching an average height of around 5 feet 6 inches. Her harmoniously proportionate weight aligns seamlessly with her size, and she navigates her workspace with an elegant posture, enhancing her overall aura of sophistication.
She is attired in meticulously chosen robes that flawlessly balance functionality and style. Elizabeth prefers tailored garments crafted from high-quality materials like fine silk and enchanted fabrics. These robes elevate her comfort and endure the demands of her role as an assistant. The color palette she adorns is rich in deep, muted tones, projecting an authoritative and professional demeanor.
The robes, carefully fitted to accentuate her slender figure, effortlessly allow for ease of movement, embodying the practical aspects of her position. Elizabeth pays meticulous attention to detail, selecting subtle embellishments and trim that introduce an air of elegance without veering into ostentation.
Elizabeth is seated at her desk and reviews Director Bones' schedule and upcoming meetings. An unexpected notification from the security desk interrupts her focus, alerting her to unusual guests approaching the office.
"Director Bones," Elizabeth begins, "you might want to take this meeting, even though they are not on your schedule."
Director Bones looks up from her report on the recent battle, inquiring, "Excuse me, who wants to meet with me?"
Elizabeth responds, "Account Manager Griphook from the Goblin nation wishes to speak to you."
Director Bones rises, decisively stating, "Please let them in, Elizabeth."
As Elizabeth opens the door, Director Bones is greeted by the sight of a goblin, adorned in his Gringott suit, flanked by three goblin sergeants. Clad in chain armor with swords at their hips, they await the Director's attention, a tangible air of importance surrounding their unexpected visit.
Elizabeth shuts the door, walks over, and stands by her boss. She won't leave her alone with four goblins, no matter who they are.
"How may I assist you?" Director Bones inquires.
"I am Account Manager Griphook, and I am here on business. Time is money, so may we proceed to complete this transaction?" Griphook asserts.
"Of course, Account Manager Griphook, you may proceed," Director Bones affirms.
"You may call me Griphook." He deftly removes his briefcase, unveiling a stack of papers, and hands her the first scroll. "This first scroll is a direct donation to your department. It would seem your Minister and Lord Malfoy passed a law last year. If money was donated to a specific branch of the Ministry, another department could not touch it, and all money had to be used by that department. Is that correct?" Griphook inquires.
"I am well aware of that law; it has impeded some of the funding I was utilizing to assist with my DMLE budget," the Director responds.
"That's good you understand that law. If you read down, you will see the amount being donated to you," Griphook continues.
Director Bones scrutinizes the paper, and her eyes and brows shoot up in surprise. She looks at Griphook with a shocked expression on her face.
"Yes, I agree it's a significant amount. I was instructed to investigate your department's financial challenges and determine the cost to bring it up to the same level when you were facing the dark lord. As you can see, your budget was 150,000 gallons at the war level. The amount being donated to you is 2 million, enough to fund your department for ten years or more." Griphook elucidates, revealing the substantial financial support extended to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
"Is this real? This is a huge amount of money to be donated," Director Bones questions.
"I assure you this is real, and I can tell you no strings are attached. My client wants every knut to be spent on training, arming, and armoring your Aurors so they stand a better chance to go home at the end of their shift," Griphook answers.
"If you look at the second scroll, the goblin nation has agreed to supply you with the armor for your warriors. And we will," Griphook states.
She is stunned. "Would you armor my Aurors?" Director Bones asks.
"For a price, yes, business is business after all," Griphook replies. "The King has already approved the business deal; you only have to request it, and we can start delivering your armor sets."
"Of course, I would be honored and will send a request as soon as possible," Director Bones answers.
"There is no need," he said as he handed her a third scroll, and Griphook said, "Sign it at the bottom."
She reads it. "You have already set up the armor prices and how many are needed."
"Yes, time is money, and you will need that armor sooner than later. But the set amount of armor you need has already been paid for, so it will not be subtracted from the two million donations you are getting. This also includes the warriors you laid off," Griphook explains.
Director Bones smiles. "Yes, I will be able to bring my numbers of Aurors back to war level."
"Sign at the bottom," Griphook instructs her. She signs the paperwork and hands it back to Griphook; he removes a letter addressed to the Director and gives it to her. "This is for you, which concludes our business for the day."
She looks at the letter and looks up at Griphook. "May I ask what family account manager you are?"
"Yes, you may; I am the account manager for the Most Ancient and Most Noble House of Potter," Griphook states.
Director Bones is stunned. "Harry Potter donated the money to my department."
"Yes, we discussed this last week. I cleared my day for this encounter, and now, if you have no further questions, I must return to my duties," Griphook states, concluding the meeting with a sense of finality.
As he leaves with his guards following him, Moody walks in, looking at her as his magical eye tracks the departing goblins. "That is something you don't see daily: a bank manager of Gringotts in the Ministry." Moody states.
"Account manager Griphook had to deliver some paperwork for me to sign. It seems Mr. Hadrian James Potter donated two million galleons to the department of DMLE and arranged for the Goblin nation to supply us with armor." Director Bones Answered.
She looked at Elizabeth and smiled; "Thank you for your service today, Elizabeth, but you did not need to stay with me while they were here." Director Bones informs Elizabeth.
Elizabeth blushes slightly at Director Bones's kind words. I could not leave you alone with them. I felt it was my job to stay, and stay I did. If needed, I will be at my desk as she walks out and shuts the door, leaving Moody with the Director.
"I still think pulling her from the academy to be your assistant was a waste. She is good with a wand and has a sharp mind." Moody states.
"That's precisely why I pulled her. She knows when to be discrete when needed and can handle herself if the occasion arises, like today. Four Goblins, three fully armored and armed, and she stayed with me instead of running to the safety of her desk." Director Bones answers.
Chapter 107: "Whispers of Support"
"It seems Mr. Hadrian James Potter donated Two million galleons to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and arranged for the Goblin nation to supply us with armor," Director Bones announces.
"I thought his name was Harry James Potter?" Moody asks.
"I don't understand that myself. We will have to find out why the name changed, but let's not get sidetracked with his name," Director Bones replies.
Moody starts laughing, "that the lad is causing trouble no matter what he does."
"How did it go at the Prophet?" Director asks.
"At first, they were not complying, so I told the Aurors to seize everything. They relented and handed over the original photographs," Moody answers.
"Good; did you turn them over to Hammer?" Director asks.
"Yes, Connie is now developing them and will go over every frame inch by inch," Moody answers.
Director Bones says, "I also received this with the scrolls about the donations," she holds up a letter from Potter. As she slowly opens it, she mumbles, "Interesting," as she continues reading. "I can't believe I did not see that myself," Director Bones said, shaking her head. Moody watched his boss as she continued to read the letter. Finally, she sits down.
"Elizabeth, can you please bring some tea?" Director Bones asks.
"Yes, director," Elizabeth enters with a tray of tea and snacks, sits on the coffee table, and walks out. The Director and Moody took their wands out and cast spells to ensure the tea was safe to drink.
They look at each other and start to laugh. "So, what did the letter say, Amelia?" Mood asks. Director Bones hands the letter over, and Moody starts to read it. "There is a section about you anyway," Director Bones states.
To Director Bones of Magical Law Enforcement: I hope this letter finds you in good spirits and healthy. I am donating Two million galleons to your department. As I understand the law, only the department to whom the money was donated can use the money. I urgently urge you to prepare your department for the storm slowly approaching our shores. I can't tell you how I know this, but the Dark Lord is not dead.
He is without a body but still out there waiting to return. I will not tell you how to run your department, but I will point out a few things, and I hope you understand. I am not implying you do not know how to run your department. The first thing you need to do to remove from the application to become an Auror is to have an O in potions. In the last 11 years, students with an O in potions have dropped below 10 percent. I don't have to point out why.
The second thing you must do is have all Aurors give a loyalty oath so they cannot betray you or the department or inform others of a raid that's going to take place. The third is you need to put the Floo network and Sensor department back under the control of your department. You can locate and track dark wizards and witches more quickly if those departments are in your command. It would help if you had the wards looked at. They should be close to the level of Hogwarts.
When I was in the alley and walked by the building, the Wards have holes in them and looked weak. You need to take control of the Wards; you could monitor if anyone attempted to cast a spell or enter the Ministry in disguise or under the control of another wizard. Also, it would help if you told Chief Aurora Alistor Moody he can't retire. The nation needs his service again.
Alistor must train all the Aurors to survive and win on a battlefield. Tell him I read his book and agree with everything he said about the war. The last bit of news I will drop on you is that as long as you do your job, you have no fear of being fired by the Ministry. The Most Ancient and Most Noble House of Potter won't allow it. I will also tell you that you have no fear of the Black's vote. Malfoy will no longer be able to use the Black vote to block or push through laws he wants in place.
Sincerely yours. Hardrian James Potter.
Moody shakes his head and says, "Now you no longer have to walk the tightrope with Fudge. Potter will ensure you don't lose your job. Everything he pointed out makes sense, and I can't believe I did not think of a few." Moody looks at the Director; "he is right. A loyalty oath and the Wards are concerning."
"Yes, I agree. I will get Croaker and his bunch to look over the Wards. Please contact the Aurors that were let go and get them back here as soon as possible." Director Bones answers.
"That won't be a problem," Moody replies.
Chapter 108: "Whispers of Support Part 2"
Just as they finish their tea, the door opens, and the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, walks in. Trailing slightly behind him is Lord Malfoy. Amelia stands up, as does Moody. "Is there a reason you just barge into my office, Minister?"
"Well, now, Amelia, I am in a hurry, and pleasantries sometimes must be set aside," the Minister replies.
Director Bones smiles, "I will remember what you said, Minister, the next time you try to keep me waiting for a meeting."
Fudge looks surprised, "Is that how you talk to your Minister?" Lord Malfoy asks.
"What I say to the Minister has nothing to do with you," Director Bones answers.
Malfoy smiles, "I can see you are in a mood, Amelia."
"That would be Director Bones to you," Director Bones states.
Moody moves forward, and Lord Malfoy steps back. "That's enough," Fudge yells. Moody's good eye is locked on Malfoy. His magical eye is watching the Minister. "I had a report that a goblin was here and wondered why?" Fudge asks.
Director Bones smiles, "Oh, it's nothing; Account Manager Griphook was bringing me notice of a donation to my department, that's all."
"Why would an account manager bring you notice of a donation?" Lord Malfoy inquires.
"That's none of your business, Lord Malfoy," Director Bones retorts.
"I am wondering the same thing, Amelia," Fudge states.
Moody again approaches Malfoy, who is almost back against the door. "Griphook was bringing me a donation I had to sign for the money for my department."
"The law you two passed does not allow donations to be shared through the departments anymore, "Director Bones states.
Malfoy smiles at her reply. "Yes, so unfortunate you could not meet your budget demands and had to cut back on personnel. And I believe you will be retiring soon," looking at Moody.
Moody smiles at Malfoy, "You would like that, wouldn't you, Malfoy? Thanks to the donation, that was the case, but not anymore."
Amelia smiles at the Minister, "We will not only meet our budget demands, but I will be able to rehire everyone I had to let go and give them all raises."
"I will be able to reclaim the Floo network and the Magical sensors and place them back in the DMLE." Director Bones informs them.
"What is this nonsense? How will you be able to afford two more departments? How much was donated to you, Amelia?" The Minister Demands.
Director Bones smiles. "Two million gallons." The Minister and Lord Malfoy are stunned by the amount that was donated.
"That can't be possible! Who would donate so much money?" The Minister demands.
Director Bones smiles at the Minister, "That would be the Most Ancient and Most Nobel House of Potter."
"That is utter nonsense! I won't have it. That money belongs to the Ministry to use. The Minister screams out.
"You passed the law, Minister, not me. So you have no right to it, and it will fund my department at war level for the next ten years plus." Director Bones calmly answers.
Malfoy quickly recovers. "Well, you could say the Director of the DMLE has the right to use it. That would be me, Lord Malfoy," Director Bones states.
Lord Malfoy smirks at Director Bones, "for now, but that could change.
You two can try to remove me; you will find out you can't. Director Bones firmly answers.
"Do you forget I vote for the House of Black?" Lord Malfoy shouts.
Moody laughs, and Amelia steps forward. "Oh, I think you should say you did vote for House Black. I heard you were removed from yourself proclaimed regent title and your son is not the heir to the Black family."
Malfoy angrily answers, "You will find out how wrong you are, Bones, and you will find yourself wishing you showed me more respect instead of your attitude towards me."
"I think not, Malfoy, and if you both would excuse me, I have a press conference to prepare for. Director Bones answers.
What do you mean by the press conference? Minster asks. The people need to know what is going on with the attack in the alley, and they will also find out about the donation to my department and what the goal of the DMLE from here on out will be?" Director Bones answers.
The door flies open, and Elizabeth rushes in. "You need to turn on the wireless now," she tells Director Bones. As she turned it on, Amelia recognized Griphook's voice.

Chapter 109: "The Bounty"
"I do not have much time to state this matter, so I will read this directive from my client and be done with the announcement; time is money, after all. The werewolf known as Fenrir Greyback is wanted in more than 40 magical countries, and the Ministry of Magic placed a bounty of 5000 galleons on him."
"By law, a citizen can also place a reward for capturing or killing a wanted person. My client is offering 100,000 galleons to anyone who brings the head of Greyback to the nearest Gringotts bank to confirm his identity. Also, there is a 10,000-galleons reward for those in Greyback's pack."
The reporters are stunned as they hear the amount of money placed on the head of the most feared werewolf in the country, if not the world. The reporters start screaming and yelling questions at Griphook. He holds his clawed hand up for silence and smiles, his razor-sharp teeth showing. Finally, the crowd goes silent.
"My client would also like to announce that the bill the Ministry is trying to pass, which would label all werewolves as dark creatures, will not pass and will be rejected."
"You'd ask how that's possible? It's easy; my client is the Most Ancient and Noble House of Potter. He will veto the bill and throw it out." One reporter yells, "Lord Malfoy will block your veto, and it will go to a floor vote." Griphook laughs, "You mean if Malfoy could vote for the House of Black? You should look into that before you state that he can vote for the House of Black."
"I have another matter to address, which will also be placed in the Daily Prophet," Griphook states, and I will read to you what the message has to say.
Dear Esteemed Readers and Editors of the Daily Prophet, I, Griphook, acting as the Account Manager for the Most Ancient and Most Noble House of Potter, wish to bring to your attention a matter of significant importance that pertains to the celebrated wizard, formerly Harry Potter.
I uncovered an intriguing revelation after thoroughly exploring the Potter family vaults and the remnants of their ancestral home. It has come to light that Harry Potter's factual and legal name is Hadrian James Potter. This information was discerned from authentic documents, including his birth certificate, safeguarded within the confines of the magical wards placed upon the Potter residence.
In accordance with Mr. Potter's wishes and with due consideration for his assumed titles as the Heir of Potters and Blacks, we propose an official acknowledgment and public announcement of this revelation. It is imperative to underline that 'Harry' is a name reserved for close friends and family, and henceforth, the wizarding community is kindly requested to address him by his rightful name, Hadrian James Potter.
We believe disseminating this information through the esteemed platform of the Daily Prophet will ensure accuracy and clarity in addressing Mr. Potter, preventing misunderstandings among the wizarding populace.
Your cooperation in bringing this matter to the public's attention is greatly appreciated. I remain at your disposal for any further inquiries or clarifications.
Yours sincerely, Griphook Account Manager Most Ancient and Most Noble House of Potter
"That is all I have for you," as Griphook spins and walks back into the bank, his three guards trailing behind him, daring any reporters to rush after him. The reporters did not take the bait and hurried to their offices to complete their story.
All of them were shocked at the turn of events back at the Ministry. Moody laughs, "That was interesting. I expect Greyback's body will show up soon. Everyone he knows will turn on his pack to get that money."
Chapter 110: "Aftermath"
Amelia shakes her head, "I have never heard of giving a news conference to place a reward for a criminal's death. You should arrest Harry Potter," the Minister shouted,
"On what charge? There has to be something to charge him with." Director Bones explains. "That would be false arrest, and you would go against the Most Ancient House of Potter, and we both know how that would turn out for you, Minister. Potter is within his right to place a reward next to the Ministry's. I believe Moody is right; I think the days of Greyback being on the loose are over."
The Minister looks around and walks out with Lord Malfoy trailing behind. "It seems we ruined their afternoon, or should we say Potter ruined their afternoon." "This is how Albus must feel with Potter at Hogwarts," Moody chuckles as Amelia laughs.
"I think you are right; he is unconscious at St. Mungo's, and he has caused so much chaos today I can't even think straight. It's not over; wait till the press conference; they will not know what story will get the front page." Amelia shakes her head.
Amelia looked at Moody. "There is one part of the letter we have not addressed yet."
Moody shakes his head; "I know what part you are talking about. Yes, the dark lord is not dead but has no body and is in a spirit form. What does that even mean? I don't think we will find answers to our questions until the young man wakes up," Amelia shakes her head. "I hope he has no more surprises for us. The battle, donation, the reward—what else can he do to top that?"
"I would not say that too loudly, Amelia. According to Albus, Mr. Potter can top everything he has done. So, let's not say we have seen the worst of it yet. It's almost like he did this intentionally, creating a diversion. But why would he need a diversion, or is he messing with the Ministry?"
Director Bones looked sternly at Elizabeth. "Elizabeth, I need you to set up a press conference in 15 minutes. I don't care if it's short notice, and make sure the wireless is there. The entire country needs to hear what I said, not what is being written by certain reporters."
Elizabeth nodded. "Director, I've already informed the press and had them stay after Account Manager Griphook finished with his. Everything is in order."
The Director turned to Moody. "Now you see why I took her as my assistant."
"I still say she would be better off on the force." Moody replies.
Elizabeth smiled, knowing she had done an excellent job.
Chapter 111: "Press Conference"
In the aftermath of the dramatic events in the alley, Director Bones faces the press in a hastily arranged conference at the Ministry of Magic. The room buzzes with anticipation as reporters eagerly await answers.
Director Bones steps up to the podium, her expression serious yet composed. The press corps leans forward, pens poised over parchment, ready to capture every word.
"Good afternoon. I've called this press conference to address the recent attack in the alley and shed light on the unfolding situation," Director Bones begins.
Hands shoot up immediately, and the Director points to a reporter in the front row.
"Rita Skeeter, Daily Prophet. Can you confirm the identities of those involved in the attack, particularly the combat-robed individual assisting your Aurors?"
Director Bones takes a moment before responding, "The investigation is ongoing, and we're still piecing together the details. However, I can confirm that our Aurors were assisted by none other than Harry Potter. He emerged from the crowd and actively participated in subduing the attackers."
"Rita Skeeter told. Director Bones's eyewitness accounts suggest that Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, eliminated several masked wizards and defeated the apparent leader with a sword. Can you confirm these reports, and if true, what is the Ministry's stance on Harry Potter's direct involvement in such a dangerous confrontation?"
Director Bones answers, "While it is true that Harry Potter faced a group of masked wizards and displayed remarkable skill in the face of danger, I must clarify that the details surrounding the incident are still under investigation. The Department of Magical Law Enforcement is actively working to gather all relevant information before making an official statement on the matter. We appreciate the concern of the wizarding community and assure you that the safety and well-being of our citizens remain our top priority."
A murmur sweeps through the room, and reporters frantically scribble down notes. Another reporter raises their hand, and Director Bones nods toward them.
A determined young reporter, Emily Harper from The Wizarding Times, raises her hand.
"Emily Harper, The Wizarding Times. Director Bones, there are whispers among the public, wondering about your direct involvement in the Alley attack. Some are curious to know if you were actively engaged in the fighting and, if so, why would the head of the DMLE put herself in such a dangerous situation?"
The room once again falls silent, awaiting Director Bones' response. With a hint of a wry smile, Director Bones addresses the question.
"I appreciate the question, Emily. The public needs to understand that, as the head of the DMLE, my primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and security of the wizarding community. In certain situations, especially those of great urgency, it becomes necessary for leaders to be on the front lines. During the alley attack, I, along with the talented Aurors and individuals present, actively participated in the effort to neutralize the threat and protect our citizens."
She continues, "The decision to engage directly was made based on the severity of the situation, and it's a choice I would make again if circumstances demanded. We are a united front against dark forces, and I am committed to leading by example when required."
Emily Harper nods, jotting down notes as the press conference continues, each question unraveling more layers of the complex events that unfolded in the alley.
"Thomas Reed, Wizarding World Gazette. With Harry Potter involved, does this signal his return to the public eye, and how does the Ministry plan to handle his involvement?"
Director Bones maintains her composed demeanor, "Harry Potter's involvement will be handled in accordance with the law, just like any other citizen. We acknowledge his participation in the incident, and we'll await the conclusion of the investigation to determine the appropriate course of action."
More questions follow, ranging from the nature of the attackers to the Ministry's response strategy. Director Bones provides as much information as possible without compromising the ongoing investigation.
A German reporter, Hans Schneider from Der Zauberer-Zeitung, raises his hand, and Director Bones acknowledges him with a nod.
"Hans Schneider, Der Zauberer-Zeitung. Rumors have circulated about the involvement of the Dragon Cabal in dark magical activities. Can you confirm if this recent attack is connected to them?"
Before responding, Director Bones considers the question, "We cannot definitively link the attack to any specific dark wizarding group, including the Dragon Cabal. Our investigators are diligently working to uncover the motive and the identities of those responsible. Making any firm connections is premature until we have gathered sufficient evidence."
The tension in the room palpably increases as reporters exchange glances: another journalist, this time from The Wizarding World Tribune, chimes in.
"Lucinda Blackthorn, The Wizarding World Tribune. Can you explain why Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, intervened?"
Director Bones answers Harry Potter's intervention in confronting the dragon-masked wizards. "Our investigation is ongoing, and we are diligently working to piece together the events that transpired and led to Harry Potter's involvement."
A sharp, inquisitive voice rings out from the crowd, capturing the room's attention. A reporter, known for his persistent questioning, raises his hand. "Sebastian Wells, Daily Enigma. Director Bones, I'd like to address the public's concerns regarding the recent alley attack. Many wonder how such an attack could happen in a heavily populated area; some feel the response was slow. Can you shed light on these concerns?"
Feeling frustrated, Director Bones addresses the question with a firm tone. "Sebastian, your question touches on a critical issue. The response was not slow, but the result of severe budget cuts imposed by the Ministry, led by Minister Fudge and supported by Lord Malfoy. The DMLE budget was slashed, forcing me to let go of valuable Aurors, reduce patrols, and compromise our ability to respond swiftly."
Chapter 112: "Press Conference Part 2"
She continues, her agitation evident, "The Ministry's decision to prioritize other areas over the security of our citizens is regrettable. We are doing our best to maintain law and order with the resources at our disposal. The recent attack is a stark reminder of the consequences of such budget decisions. Rest assured, we are working tirelessly to address this situation and reinforce the DMLE to protect the wizarding community better."
Sebastian Wells, pen scribbling across his notepad, absorbs the information. "Director Bones, Jérôme Leclerc from Le Magique Quotidien. There has been considerable concern and speculation regarding the recent decision to cut the Department of Magical Law Enforcement budget. Reports suggest that you were on record opposing these cuts, yet the Minister and Lord Malfoy pushed through them. Considering your recorded opposition, can you provide insight into your stance on these budget reductions and the circumstances surrounding their approval? Many in the wizarding community are eager to understand the dynamics that led to this decision. Thank you."
"Thank you for your question, Jérôme. "I indeed expressed reservations about the budget cuts for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. I firmly believe, and still do, that maintaining the strength and capabilities of our law enforcement is crucial, especially in the face of potential threats. However, decisions within the Ministry are made collectively, and despite my objections, the Minister and Lord Malfoy pressed forward with the cuts. It's a challenging situation, and I want to assure the wizarding community that we are actively working to mitigate any impact on our ability to uphold the safety and security of our magical society. I will continue to advocate for the necessary resources to fulfill our duties effectively."
"Director Bones, I would also like to address a significant change in the Auror recruitment criteria. "Effective immediately, we will remove the potion-making requirement for aspiring Aurors," she announced.
A reporter from the Daily Prophet, Rita Skeeter, raised her hand and was acknowledged by Director Bones. "Director, can you elaborate on the decision to make such a drastic change to the Auror requirements, specifically removing the potion-making criterion?"
Director Bones maintained her composure and responded, "Certainly, Ms. Skeeter. This decision is driven by the necessity to adapt to the evolving landscape of magical law enforcement. The potion-making requirement has become outdated. In modern times, our Aurors rarely find themselves in situations where they need to brew potions on the spot. Furthermore, we've observed a decline in potion-related grades from Hogwarts, making it challenging to recruit skilled individuals. We believe this adjustment will better align our criteria with our Aurors' practical needs in the field."
"Rita Skeeter states Director Bones' reports are circulating that Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, was injured in the recent alley attack. Can you confirm these reports, and if true, what is his current condition?"
Director Bones glances at the reporter, her expression guarded. "I understand the public's concern for Mr. Potter, a figure of great significance. However, I cannot disclose specific details about individual injuries now. Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of all those involved. As soon as there are developments to share, the Ministry will provide an official statement. We appreciate the public's understanding during these challenging times."
Emily Harper raises her hand for a question. Director Bones acknowledges her, "Yes, Miss Harper, what would you like to know?"
"Director Bones," Emily begins, "regarding the substantial reward placed on the head of the notorious Werewolf Fenrir Greyback, could you elaborate on how the Ministry plans to handle such a situation? Additionally, considering the significant sum offered, is there concern that Mr. Potter may have, unintentionally or otherwise, broken any laws by essentially putting a price on someone's head?"
Director Bones responds with measured words, "The reward offered by Mr. Potter is indeed unprecedented, and the Ministry is carefully reviewing the legal implications surrounding such actions. While we appreciate the concern for the potential consequences, it's essential to recognize that Mr. Potter acted within his rights as a citizen. We are consulting with legal experts to ensure proper procedures are followed. The situation is under thorough examination, and any necessary steps will be taken in accordance with the law."
Emily Harper nods, scribbling notes furiously as she prepares to delve deeper into the legal intricacies of the situation.
Rita Skeeter eagerly seizes the opportunity for a follow-up question. She leans forward, her Quick-Quotes Quill poised.
"Director Bones," Rita inquires with a sly smile, "how does the Ministry feel about Mr. Potter essentially putting a target on the back of Greyback and his pack? Do you believe this significant reward might lead to unintended consequences, and how does the Ministry plan to address the potential fallout?"
Director Bones maintains her composure, recognizing the delicate nature of the question. "It's important to clarify that Mr. Potter, as a private citizen, exercised his right to offer a reward within the bounds of the law. The Ministry is concerned about the potential repercussions, and we are actively monitoring the situation. Our priority is to handle this matter judiciously and ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens."
Seemingly satisfied with the response, Rita Skeeter continues to press for details. "Are there any plans for Mr. Potter to be involved in the Ministry's activities, considering his significant financial support?"
Director Bones responds firmly, "Mr. Potter's involvement in Ministry affairs is to be decided based on his own choices. The Ministry is grateful for his support, and any potential collaboration will be determined through appropriate channels and discussions. Our focus remains on maintaining the safety and well-being of the wizarding community."
The room buzzes with questions, and reporters clamor for attention, eager to inquire about the specifics of the donation and its implications. Director Bones acknowledges the inquiries, promising to release a detailed statement outlining the allocation of the funds and how they would bolster the DMLE's capabilities.
With that, Director Bones concludes the press conference, leaving the wizarding world abuzz with the alley attack's events and the unprecedented financial support extended to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
Authors Note:
I've addressed specific issues in Chapter 11 that needed attention. Here are some critical points for your understanding:
Hadrian's Exceptional Fighting Ability: I've subtly hinted at Hadrian's remarkable combat skills, surpassing those of his peers. His sword is more than a weapon; it harbors the abilities and memories of its previous wielders. The sword imparts their skills, creating a unique merging. Additionally, the Crown Hadrian enhanced his cognitive capabilities, accelerating his thought processes. Coupled with ancient knowledge inherited from the crown's previous Owner, Hadrian's prowess is a fusion of the sword and crown gifts.
Introduction of the Legion: Acknowledging potential confusion surrounding the Legion, I assure you their role will be clarified in forthcoming chapters. Currently clad in Lorica Squamata armor, the Legion is poised to undergo an upgrade to Lorica Segmentata, a development that will be explored in due course.
Ministry's Authority: It's crucial to clarify that the Ministry does not directly exert control over Hogwarts or the Forbidden Forest. Instead, their influence extends to the surrounding lands. Hogmead, as an example, falls under the Ministry's jurisdiction. Dementors will be deployed around the village and roads leading to Hogwarts, but they will refrain from entering the Forbidden Forest. Importantly, any Ministry initiative within Hogwarts necessitates explicit permission from the Board of Governors and the Headmaster.
I trust you'll continue to find enjoyment in my version of the Harry Potter story. Please feel free to send me a private message for any questions. Your feedback is highly valued. Thank you for being a part of my creative journey.
