Saiyan Pride VS Human Will
Kakarot and Piccolo land side by side on top of Kami's Lookout. Kakarot notes, "This is definitely the strangest location on this planet. I don't often see a large bowl overlooking the world with a red pole being the only thing keepin' it in the air." Piccolo corrected him, "Kami's Lookout, his home doesn't need that pole to keep it up. He uses magic to keep it floating in midair, no matter what happens to this place, it will remain in the air." Kakarot hummed at the interesting information.
Right then several individuals exited the temple at the far side of the Lookout. Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, Chiaotzu, and Master Roshi appeared. Krillin, Tien and Yamcha came within five feet of Kakarot and Piccolo and stood four steps separate from each other. Kakarot immediately noticed Yamcha and said, "I didn't expect you to be up already, I'm glad to see you are in good shape." Yamcha punched his open palm and said, "Things won't go down like last time." Kakarot simply said, "Good." With a confident smile. Yamcha then said, "I see you've changed your look; you look like your brother." Kakarot immediately said, "We were issued the same type of armor as kids. I got used to it so I never had it updated to a newer model."
Krillin jumped into the conversation, "How will this challenge work, it was your idea after all." Kakarot immediately explained, "I'll fight all of you alone and we'll only quit when there's only one man left standing, dead or alive." Piccolo then asked, "So I'm not involved." Kakarot nodded and spoke, "You'll keep the balls safe until this wager is over. If I somehow lose then you'll get to decide who you want to side with." Kakarot then tossed the bag full of Dragon Balls to Piccolo who caught it with one hand and then stuffed it under his cloak/shirt. Piccolo just said, "Fine by me."
Krillin suddenly said, "How do we trust you won't do anything nasty. Your brother destroyed South City with a single blast, can we assume you won't get cold feet during the fight and do something crazy?" Kakarot said while putting his right hand on his hip, "My brother was a coward, I'm much more dedicated to the fight. I promise you I won't do anything that'll endanger more lives." Before anything started Tien asked, "Piccolo, before we start this, I want to know why you've sided with the alien? Your big objective was conquering the earth, what changed?" Kakarot looked at Piccolo expecting him to answer. Piccolo looked at Kakarot, let out a sigh and then turned to Tien and said, "I'm only siding with the side that guarantees my survival."
He then cracked an arrogant smile and said, "Think about it you fool's. Our battles before were nothing compared to the fight with these Saiyans. "You" killed one and a second one appeared, far more powerful than anything we've ever experienced. Obviously, this planet has been targeted and who's to guess that there isn't some even more powerful alien somewhere out there. I'll find some other planet to conquer, somewhere where these Saiyans hold no interest in. I will rule, if it isn't this planet then another one will do." Suddenly an elderly voice chimed in, "What a foolish plan, I hardly believe you're the one who made it."
Piccolo grimaced as Kami appeared standing just a few feet away from Piccolo. Kakarot was surprised to see another green man, but it then came to him, he knew where he saw these green skinned people before. Piccolo muttered, "Kami, you old bastard." Kami then said, "If what you say is true, how do you know the people Kakarot works for are welcoming to aliens or if you even match the standard for their soldiers." Piccolo angrily growled at Kami disliking the mere presence of the man. Kakarot then said, "Nameks." Piccolo and Kami look at Kakarot with a look of astonishment, but Kami is the first to say, "Young man, what is it you just said." Kakarot said again, "Nameks, Namekians, that's where I've seen your kind before. I didn't expect to find them here though."
It was a moment of profound discovery that brought a smile to both Kami and Piccolo's face. For the first time in a long time they shared the exact same emotion, enlightenment. Piccolo then said, "Thank you, you have no idea how much I needed that, I'm a Namekian." Kakarot then said, "Your people are rarely nomadic, but I have encountered them every now and then, on worlds with multiple species on them. They have always proved to be challenging and sturdy." Kakarot then realized something, "What are the odds of two Namekians showing up on a single planet… I see, one of you must have made the Dragon Balls. That's why you knew so much about them."
Piccolo grinned and said, "Close but not close enough Saiyan." Kami was the first to explain, "I am the creator of the Dragon Balls however, the man next to me isn't simply another Namekian." Piccolo continued where Kami left off, "I was once part of this old fool until he found a way to purge the evil from him." Kami said with a deep frown, "I am ashamed to say that I am the cause of so much suffering for so many. That evil took shape and took the name Piccolo, the man who allies himself with you is merely the other side of a coin that is Kami." Piccolo then said, "Regardless, our shared lives means if one of us dies than the other does too, keep in mind that if Kami dies then the Dragon Balls lose their power."
Krillin and friends grimace at Kakarot being told this information. It becomes even worse when Piccolo said, "These fools might even attempt to kill him just to keep the wish away from you." They would have preferred it if Kakarot was ignorant to that connection, it could have stalled his reaction if any of them went with their last resort. Kakarot had a look of deep thought before looking at Kami and saying, "In that case, until the fight is over, you stay at the edge of the arena. I won't have you dying when your life dictates whether I can bring my brother back or not."
Kami then asks, "What if I'm participating in this fight." Kakarot immediately said, "You won't be." Kami asked, "Is that an order, do you decide who fights today?" Kakarot shakes his head and says, "No, it's because you don't plan on fighting today." Kami gives him a surprised look which is when Kakarot elaborates, "My Ki sensing might not be up to par with yours, but I've talked and fought with enough people to know the body language of someone who wants to fight. Your body language doesn't exude any killing intent, excitement or fear, in fact I'd guess you'd rather we didn't fight at all." Both Piccolo and Kami's eyes widened but the Saiyans expression didn't change from the confident glare he had on his face the whole time.
Kami cracked a smile and said, "How interesting. alright we'll play by your rules young man." Kami floated off to the edge of the Lookout and stood there, out in the open waiting for the fight to start. Piccolo took a stern expression and floated up high into the air, watching the soon to be battleground below. Master Roshi stood to the side of the temple while Chiaotzu floated to the back levitating in the air. Tien, Yamcha and Krillin took martial arts stances while Kakarot relaxed his muscles and angled his body slightly to the left while keeping his vision in front of him.
Kakarot suddenly let out a torrent of light purple Ki mildly startling his adversaries, but they kept their stances up. After a moment Kakarot's aura disappeared which is when all three front line fighters took a leap backwards before dashing forwards going at Kakarot from his front (Krillin), left (Tien) and right (Yamcha). Tien launched a flurry of unique half open palmed jabs and hooks, Krillin launched a combination of karate punches and kicks while Yamcha focused on wolf-like slash attacks and open palm strikes. Kakarot however, engaged the combo with ease parrying every strike that came his way while using his whole body. He deflected Tien's jabs while protecting his front with his legs and easily dodged Yamcha's Wolf Fang Fist.
Kakarot mentally noted, "Yamcha's attacks aren't as chaotic as before, he's learned from his mistakes in our previous fight." Kakarot smiled as he began to push their assault back. As this exchange went underway Roshi mentally said to himself, "To think they've come so far, I can't even properly track them anymore. Ah, how they have grown, but even if I've been left in the dust, I can still help my students." Chiaotzu focused on Kakarot, stretching his arms out with his palms open.
He began using his telekinesis on Kakarot, trying to freeze him up but it was taking all of his concentration to slow him down by a millisecond. It was so low that the change wasn't clearly visible. Chiaotzu muttered to himself, "I'm putting my all into it, but it doesn't even look like it's having an effect. The only other time this happened was when I was training with Master Tao." Kakarot however felt the change, for the briefest of seconds Kakarot felt his body not moving exactly how he wanted it to. It wasn't big enough to impede his defense but regardless it was a hindrance to his movements. Kakarot searched the environment for the cause in the middle of his own strikes. Right then he spotted a white mime floating in the back of the temple with his hands outstretched and palms open. Kakarot muttered, "So that's the one."
Kakarot then said to himself, "I'll make an opening." Kakarot dropped his defenses allowing a jab, a kick and a slash to hit his body but Kakarot ignored it and landed a gut punch to Krillin stunning him. Kakarot then kicked Tien into the air while delivering a downward elbow strike to Yamcha's head, knocking and then bouncing Yamcha off the ground and backwards. In that second Kakarot fired a simple Ki wave at Chiaotzu. Chiaotzu wasn't anticipating the speed of the wave and so wasn't able to react in time; however, Tien noticed the trajectory immediately and yelled, "Chiaotzu!"
Due to the strike from earlier getting him into the air, Tien was able to speed over to Chiaotzu and block the Ki wave with his bare hands. Tien groaned as he looked at his near burned hands he noted, "That attack had a lot of power, but I get the feeling he wasn't trying with that one, why though?" Chiaotzu immediately said, "Sorry Tien, my telekinesis isn't working on him." Tien smiled while clutching the middle of his chest where he got kicked, he said, "It's alright, this time lets fire Dodon Rays and move in between each shot. That way he won't be able to aim at us anymore." Chiaotzu shook his head and said, "Got it!"
Tien floated high into the sky catching Kakarot's attention, he then yelled to his allies, "Yamcha, Krillin, remember the Twenty Second Tenkaichi! I'll set him up for the Turtle School signature!" Yamcha and Krillin nodded and dashed backwards while covering their eyes. Kakarot wasn't sure what that was supposed to mean, which is when Tien opened his hands wide and spaced his fingers apart from each other. He then placed the back of his hands in front while positioning his hands to the sides of his face and a little forward before yelling, "Solar Flare! (Taiyo-ken)"
Suddenly Kakarot's eyes are overwhelmed by a blinding blue and white light which covers the whole of the Lookout. Kakarot squeezed his eyes shut while saying to himself, "What!? A blinding technique, now that's a rare move!" Kakarot mentally said, "I can't rely on my Scouter but thanks to Chichi's training I don't need it." Kakarot kept his eyes squeezed shut right as Tien and Chiaotzu began pointing one index finger at Kakarot and yelling, "Dodon Ray! (Dodonpa)" Suddenly a small, slightly thin yellow Ki wave was fired at Kakarot. He floated upwards dodging the beams and immediately fired off a simple Ki wave at one of them. However, Tien and Chiaotzu both disappeared from their position and reappeared elsewhere in the sky.
They kept the pattern of firing off Dodan Rays and relocating right as Kakarot's own Ki wave was fired at them. Kakarot would dodge one wave, dodge a second one and fire off a Ki wave at a random target but his target would have already changed position by the time he fired his wave. Kakarot growled out of frustration as this tactic soon proved annoying and effective. Right then Krillin and Yamcha dashed backwards to separate parts of the Lookout.
They simultaneously cupped their hands together, twisted their waist to their left while pulling their hands to their side as they began to charge a technique. A blue orb appeared in between their palms as they chanted, "Ka-me-" Kakarot could feel their growing power and realized, "Now that's an interesting strategy. Keep me busy until they prepare a big Ki Wave." The arena was still bright, but Kakarot could tell it was getting dimmer. He guessed, "I can't rely on my eyes, they'll finish their attack while I'm still blind." Kakarot then cleared his mind and stopped firing Ki waves at Tien and Chiaotzu. Instead, he focused on the weakest Ki in the air and examined his movements.
He mentally noted, "Often when an enemy makes continuous random movements in a fight, after a while of keepin' it up they unconsciously start to move in a pattern." Kakarot then smiled and said, "The small one is getting sloppy." Right after this Chiaotzu fires a Dodon Ray before disappearing and reappearing however right before he fires off one more Dodon Ray, Kakarot has already outstretched his arm at where he predicted Chiaotzu would appear. Kakarot then fires a Kiai at him, it was faster than the Ki Wave, so it nails Chiaotzu sending him flying far from the Lookout.
In that second Kakarot noted, "Even If I could predict where he is, a Ki Wave is too slow, I just need him to stay out of my hair for a bit so a weak Kiai will do the job." Tien lost his concentration and yelled out, "Chiaotzu!" It's too late however as Chiaotzu has been launched so far, he's out of sight. Kakarot frowned and disappeared before reappearing behind Tien. Kakarot says angrily, "You moron!" Kakarot then hits him with a downward Double Ax Handle. Tien is smashed into the ground cracking it in the process. Despite the pain in the back of his head, Tien is already trying to pull himself up. However, right when he gets into a pushup stance, he suddenly feels a horrible pain in the middle of his back.
Kakarot planted his knee down into Tien's back, planting him into the ground, creating a small human shaped crater in the ground. Right before landing this blow Kakarot yelled, "Next time watch out for yer'self!" This time Tien couldn't immediately get up, but he did manage to squeeze out two words, "That's…the plan." Right then Kakarot noted that not only was the arena visible again, Yamcha and Krillin were ready for him. They both yelled out while thrusting their palms forward, "Haaa!"
Two blue sizeable Ki waves were launched at Kakarot who didn't have enough time to dodge. Instead of surprise, Kakarot felt excitement, and in a matter of seconds he thought to himself, "That attack reminds me of the Galic Gun." Kakarot yelled out, "Ha!" while he stretched out both of his arms in the direction of both waves. Kakarot caught each wave with an open palm, he muttered while catching the move, "These Ki waves have a lot of power behind em'. These must be techniques, not simple Ki Waves." Despite the stated power of the attack Kakarot is only pushed by a foot. After that the waves dissipate and Kakarot is still standing.
He clenches his fists, frowns and thinks to himself, "Meh, that was a little disappointing. Guess that's cause comparing them to the Galic Gun is unfair. I remember Vegeta blowing past a tower and hitting a nearby planet. Not much of a comparison if the move in reference blows away worlds." Kakarot notes that Yamcha hasn't moved however… Suddenly Kakarot's Scouter lights up, pointing to his far right. Kakarot quickly spins around to see Krillin attempting to deliver a downward elbow strike. Kakarot however managed to catch it and delivered an uppercut to Krillin's jaw, sending him flying into the sky.
Kakarot mentally noted, "Their power levels may be low, but they have good instincts, especially that one. He had an ambush in mind if the technique failed… maybe he expected it to." Yamcha suddenly yelled, "No, Krillin!" Kakarot, unhappily mutters, "This one however is far too predictable." Yamcha then leaped at Kakarot throwing out his Wolf Fang Fist. Kakarot easily deflects the combo having memorized it. Kakarot deflects three clawed strikes away from Yamcha's center. Right then Kakarot quickly said, "Do you really only have one technique to fall back on?" Kakarot then takes a half step to his left and delivers a side knee to Yamcha's chest, aiming at his ribcage since his deflected arms were scattered to his sides. Kakarot felt as Yamcha slumped over his leg, having been stunned.
Kakarot then aimed his knee upwards and with a quick jolt sent Yamcha flying into the air. Yamcha tasted blood that was dripping from the sides of his mouth. Kakarot however doesn't let up quite yet. He disappears and reappears above Yamcha knocking him downward with another kick. Yamcha is sent crashing to the ground but right before he hits the marble floor below Kakarot appears right where Yamcha was going to land. Kakarot then knees Yamcha in his stomach, knocking the wind out of him.
Kakarot removes his knee, but Yamcha was still in the spot he kneed him thanks to the force of the blow keeping Yamcha semi afloat. This is when Kakarot kicked him to the side knocking him into a pillar which in turn was knocked over causing it to collapse on top of Yamcha. Yamcha was pinned by it, leaving only a single arm free of the pillar. Yamcha attempts to push the pillar off of him, but the beating took too much out of him to allow for a single arm to be enough to free himself. Yamcha slumped to the ground unable to get up. Yamcha then weakly says, "Damn it, he's crazy enough already, what else is he gonna do?" Kakarot looked at Yamcha to see if he was going to get up. That was when Kakarot's Scouter detected a growing power level above him. Kakarot looked up to see Krillin charging up another Kamehameha, only this one was obviously much stronger.
What's more Krillin's appearance had since changed, he no longer wore his blue undershirt, his wristbands or his boots. He had removed them due to the fact they were weighted much like Piccolo's cape and turban. For one thing this Kamehameha wave was giving off blue and white light. Kakarot read the power level once it stopped growing, "Power Level… 2,708. This one is much stronger!" Kakarot was initially confused why he didn't do it before, he was sure it would have at least forced him to put more effort in defending himself.
Kakarot then remembered something, he said to himself, "That's right, the three eyed one was under me. These attempts at mercy are admirable but they don't do them any favors in the middle of a fight." Kakarot then said to himself, "Still this technique is interesting." Kakarot grinned and said, "I'll give it a shot." Kakarot begins to mimic the same motions for the Kamehameha wave. Kakarot cups his palms together and then twists his waist far to his right as he pulls his two palms behind him. Kakarot even began to chant, "Now how'd it go? Oh, that's right, Ka-me-ha-me-" Krillin blurted out, "That's impossible!" Yamcha exclaimed, "This guy is unreal!" Suddenly a blue orb appeared in between Kakarot's palms.
He felt his Ki forming into his palms and soon melded them together into a circle. White and Blue light began to swirl around the whole arena. Krillin then said with a defiant tone of voice, "Fine, I'll give you a Kamehameha Wave to remember!" Right then both combatants screamed out, "Haaaa!" They both thrusted their palms forward firing off two large blue beams. Which collided with each other, Krillin's Super Kamehameha Wave versus Kakarot's first Kamehameha Wave. They both pushed against each other creating shockwaves pushing the clouds away from the Lookout and causing a mini whirlwind to push everything in the area away. The palm trees began to violently sway in the wind as the clash continued.
Krillin muttered, "I can't believe his wave is so much more powerful than mine. And to think it's only his first Kamehameha Wave. Did Chichi teach him the Wave, or does he have some sort of natural talent?" Kakarot remarks, "This technique is interesting, you condense your Ki into a pair of balls and then combine them together and then fire it as a beam. I wonder how similar Vegeta's technique would feel like if I tried it?" Despite Krillin's best efforts Kakarot's Wave began to overcome his. Krillin struggled to keep applying Ki, "No, I can't lose this, I'll put everything I have into this attack."
Krillin suddenly yells out, "Haaa!" He pushed even more Ki into it, but the effort was overcome when Kakarot yelled, "Let's test this out! Haaa!" Suddenly Kakarot's beam tore through Krillin's Wave and overwhelmed him. Despite losing the clash Krillin kept pouring his Ki into it until the attack ended. The attack tore up the top of his Gi making him shirtless. Krillin while still having his hands cupped together fell to the ground below. His body was slightly smoking from the blast, but he was still breathing. Even when he crashed into the ground below, cracking it he was still conscious and breathing.
Kakarot remarked, "He's pretty tough, the fact he kept firing his Kamehame-whatever kept him alive. It shielded him from the blast long enough for the beam to dissipate." Krillin tried to pull himself up, but he found he could barely move his arms. Kakarot then muttered with a frown, "Still, the consequence of expending so much Ki in one attack is that he doesn't have enough left over to move. He would have been better off risking an arm to get out of the way of the blast." Kakarot then shrugged saying, "Guess it wouldn't have mattered either way, he woulda' bled out if the blast took his arm." Krillin whispered a curse, "Damn…you… I…lost." Krillin mentally said, "How could anyone be that strong." Right after that Kakarot is hit by a torrent of lightning which covers his body.
Kakarot could feel his skin tingling as he turned to the source. He saw Master Roshi was launching a stream of yellow electricity at him from his open palms. Roshi then said, "How do you like my Lightning Flash Surprise Attack? You're not the only master of battle here! You're not the only one with experience under his belt, you better respect your elders!" Kakarot felt himself get lifted into the air as the attack began to hurt. Kakarot remarked, "I-impressive an electric based Ki attack. It doesn't seem like a wave, so I guess this is a technique."
Roshi elaborated, "It's a special technique of mine, I used it to beat my fair share of opponents." Kakarot says, "It's interesting, I've only encountered a couple like this one. Unfortunately, this type of attack has a major flaw." Roshi suddenly exclaimed, "What, a flaw?!" Kakarot suddenly cleared his mind and let out a brief, "Ha!" Right then Kakarot coated himself in a light purple aura that covered every inch of his body. It covered two inches above his skin and soon Kakarot was able to move freely. Kakarot then moved his arms, somehow gripped the electricity itself and then jerked his arms outward, as if yanking open a door. The stream of electricity was suddenly split open, as if it was paper or water. The flow was disrupted which is right when Kakarot quickly threw a Kiai at Roshi sending him into the wall of the Temple.
He didn't break all the way through the wall, but it was enough to create several cracks in it. Roshi slumped down onto his back, using the wall to keep himself from sliding down to the floor. Roshi muttered, "H-how did y-you do that?" Kakarot was honest as he showed off the purple Ki cloak that covered his body, "This technique overwhelms the body by assaulting it with an unstable and constant flow of Ki. You can't properly control this, so the flow is weak but painful. To counter it you can coat yourself in a strong cloak of Ki, it's a type of barrier. It's as easy as covering yourself in your Ki but you need to concentrate on wrapping it around your body constantly otherwise it won't cover yer' body equally, some sections will weaken which will break the barrier. With this Ki Cloak you can move freely in an unstable stream of Ki so long as it's at least a little stronger than the current you're bathin' in."
Roshi asked, "H-how did you figure that out? I-in all my years–" Kakarot smiled and said after dispelling the Ki cloak, "Old Master, you may have gathered countless years of experience on this planet, but every day of my life has been in countless battles on countless worlds. You swam in a pond while I dived in an ocean." After this Kakarot looks around and questions, "Is there no one else?"
Roshi thought to himself, "I wish I had relied on the Mafuba but my students were right. There's no telling if he'll turn it on me like Piccolo did Kami. What's more I can't know if the strain of attempting to seal someone as strong as him will take my life before I finish the technique. I still have lessons to teach, I won't sadden my students with my death, Gohan would agree. I'd better rely on my students… wait, where'd he go?" Roshi noticed one of them was missing but when he realized who it was, he began to panic.
He looked up into the sky and yelled, "No Tien, it's too much!" Kakarot looked upwards and found Tien floating above him with his veins bulging out. Tien had formed a triangle with both of his hands and in the middle of his hands yellow electricity began to condense in the middle of his hands. Kakarot moved farther away from Roshi but then stopped and watched the technique. Kakarot then said, "This is nothing compared to their previous attacks." Kakarot wasn't sure what to expect but he had the feeling he didn't have time to do much more than prepare himself for the impact. He was also curious why Roshi was warning Tien of the attack, as if the attack itself was a threat. Kakarot tensed his body as he prepared himself for the attack. Kakarot clenched his fists as he pulled them closer to his center.
Tien then yelled out, "Neo Tri Beam! (Shin-Kikoho)" Suddenly a blanket of Yellow Ki crashed down on Kakarot kicking up a thick cloud of dust. The ground below Kakarot was erased leaving only clouds below. The dust concealed where Kakarot was, Tien on the other hand felt his body had grown weak. His body began to ache as he fell to the ground below, he landed right in front of the entrance to the temple. He couldn't get up because he used too much Ki with his Neo Tri Beam. He muttered, "Did… I get… him?"
Tien looked at the cloud of dust but before he could blink, Kakarot appeared in front of him. Kakarot's shoulder pads and armored skirt were in tatters. His armor had cracks all over it and his Scouter was destroyed however he wasn't at all injured. Kakarot however looked panicked, Tien muttered, "Damn… it all." It was out of surprise, he didn't expect the move would hit that hard, granted it didn't damage him at all. Kakarot then said, "A technique that uses your own Ki, not just your regular reserves. How frightening and reckless." Kakarot reeled back a punch, ready to keep Tien out of the fight when right when he threw his punch a new individual jumped out in front of Tien. Ordinarily Kakarot would have punched right through them as he did on other worlds however, he instinctively froze upon feeling this person's Ki, it was familiar to him.
Chichi stood before him with her arms stretched out in a defensive manner. There was fear filled tears at the edges of her eyes, but her expression was stern, and her eyes had a serious look in them. Kakarot hesitated, he took a step back while dropping his fist he then said, "Ch-Chichi?" Right then, out of nowhere a new figure erupted from the smoke. It closed in on Kakarot and immediately grabbed his tail. Kakarot looked behind him to see Piccolo standing behind him with a sinister grin on his face. He was without his cloak and turban, and he spoke in a sinister tone, "Got you, Saiyan."
Author's Note: There we go, that was the fight scene I am most proud of right now. I got some beam clashes in Kakarot/Goku's signature talent for mimicking techniques. (First shown in the Prune Arc) and a twist, I'm not sure if I really surprised anyone since it's out of character for Piccolo to give up on his main goal but I hope this chapter was a good one. Once again, feel free to leave your thoughts with a review and have a good day/night.
