CHAPTER 36: A PHONE CALL FOR DEEKS...

A FEW HOURS LATER...
THE DOORWAY...

It had taken a while for the team to help Kensi go through the living room and kitchen, helping her decide what to keep.

There had been so many questions Deeks and Kensi ended up helping with the kitchen and living room. Never getting the bedroom and bathroom packed.

Now they stood in the doorway as the team left, promising to see them in the morning.

Finally, Deeks closed the door and turned so he was facing Kensi.

"So...do you want to finish what we started earlier on the couch before we got interupted?" Deeks asked stepping forward and letting his hands fall to her waist.

Kensi's only answer was to wrap her arms around his neck and press her lips to his.

"How about we take this to the bedroom?" Kensi suggested as she pulled back slightly after a moment.

"I like that idea." Deeks said as he started to lead her to the bedroom. "I guess we can pack the bathroom and bedroom tomorrow after work." Kensi said as they walked into her bedroom.

KENSI'S BEDROOM...

"Are you trying to kill the mood, Princess? I don't want to talk about what we have to do tomorrow." Deeks complained. "Just thinking about what needs to be done so we can move into our house sooner." Kensi replied.

"Is there a reason you're so anxious to move into our new house together?" Deeks inquired.

"Yes, because it would be our place together and we can start setting everything up for Ray." Kensi said.

"Yes, but then we have to unpack everything." Deeks reminded her. "Is there a time limit on when you want to have everything unpacked by?" Kensi asked raising an eyebrow.

"Before Ray is born, so I would say in the next 22 weeks or so." Deeks shot back with a grin as they moved closer to the bed. "Well with you being OCD that shouldn't be a problem." Kensi teased. "Hey, I can't help it if I like a clean house." Deeks said before pressing his lips to hers.

Kensi returned the kiss with hunger and passion, at first taking Deeks by surprise.

As things were started to get heated there was a cell phone ringing and they both let out a groan, before heading back to the living room to see who was calling. When they got there it was Deeks phone...

"This is Deeks..."

Deeks answered.

"...When...all right. I'll be there soon." Deeks said into the phone, before hanging up and looking at Kensi.

"Who was that?" Kensi asked already fearing the answer. "Bates...Kens, he wants me to meet with him tonight and go undercover." Deeks said. "H-how long?" Kensi asked. "I don't know, Fern. He didn't give me any details on the phone." Deeks replied with a shrug.

"Don't go, Deeks. If you sign papers to become an NCIS Agent...the LAPD can't take you away again." Kensi said.

"I-I can't do that, Kens. Being a cop is a part of..." Deeks began. "NCIS is the Navy verison of being a cop, Deeks. You would still be a cop and you said yourself half the LAPD hates you." Kensi reasoned.

"Becoming an NCIS is a big decision. I'll do this one last assignment for Bates and then think about it, okay?" Deeks asked stepping forward to give her a gentle kiss on the lips, but Kensi pulled back before his lips met hers.

"What about packing my apartment so we can move into our house sooner? I don't want anyone else to help me pack the living room and bedroom, but you." Kensi told him.

"We got most of your apartment packed. Why don't you just put everything in boxes? And we can sort them at our house when I get back. Look, I have to go meet Bates now, but I'll try to be back tonight and I'll see if I can't get a little time so we can finish packing." Deeks told her taking her hands in his own.

"Okay, I guess you better go." Kensi said tears in her eyes. "Don't worry, I'll be back." Deeks said giving her a kiss on the lips. "But I am worried, Deeks. How many times have you gone undercover for the LAPD and almost gotten killed?" Kensi asked.

"This is what we do, Kensi. We go on undercover assignments and we come home. Do you remember what you made me promise? You made me promise not to get myself killed and I won't. That's a promise that I intend to keep." Deeks told her.

"You better come home, because if you get killed I will find a way to bring you back and then kill you myself." Kensi threatened. "I thought you would bring me back to raise our child together." Deeks joked and Kensi glared at him.

"Don't joke about that, Deeks." Kensi told him and though she had calmed down there were tears in her eyes. "Sorry, I just wanted to see you smile before I go." Deeks told her as he tried to smile himself.

After that they walked to the front door, then he walked to his car and gave a wave before he was gone.

KENSI'S LIVING ROOM...

Kensi then got some ice cream out of the freezer, before sitting down on the couch as Monty jumped up to lay down beside her, his head on her leg and looking at her with sad eyes.
