Brief History:
Weiss was born on the high tech island of Atlas in the West Blue, an island considered to be the most advanced of any outside of Mechanical Island or Egghead which some say it originated in the New World as a city on the island of Solitas but was separated and transported to the West Blue for unknown reasons by unknown sources. Whatever the case, the wealthiest and most powerful family on the island was the Schnee family, into which Weiss was the second child and second daughter of Schnee Willow and her husband Gelé Jacques who took the family name, and company, upon marrying into it.
While Weiss was born into luxury with all that she could ever want, she was still born into a dysfunctional and abusive family as her father was as corrupt, power hunger, racist, and elitest as any Celestial Dragon. It is even rumored that he wished to become one and that is why he favored them so much and engaged in illegal activities like the faunus slave trade and use of slave labor to ingratiate himself with them though the extent of Jacques's ambitions are still unknown.
Whatever the case, Jacques grew the Schnee Corporation into one of the most powerful businesses in the world, dwarfing organizations like the Heartfilia and Yaoyorozu ones in the process. However, the cost of this success was great.
Said cost started with Weiss's older sister Winter leaving at 15 to join the Navy and being disinherited for it, she is now a Vice-Admiral with the trust of Admiral Ironwood and one of the handful of favorites for promotion should a slot open up. Winter was the lucky one as things in the Schnee family got worse after her departure.
This was because Jacques revealed that his true intentions in marrying into the family was simply for the name and to take over the company from Weiss's grandfather who founded it through hard work but died in his 60s due to the hard life he'd lived in building the company. All this was after Winter's departure when Weiss was name heir and groomed to take over though isolated from the world but for her singing, which gained fame throughout the West Blue's upper class.
However, all this changed one random day when three girls accidentally ended up in Atlas. It's still unclear how Ruby, her sister Yang, and their friend Blake ended up there especially given Blake's racial heritage and Atlas's history with the faunus race but they were there and already establishing themselves as pirates in the West Blue.
Somehow, shortly after arriving, Ruby ran into Weiss, by all accounts literally, and despite some friction they forged a friendship when Ruby saved Weiss's life from an attack by faunus extremists. It was an attack that Blake helped repel and showed Weiss that not all faunus were bad like her experiences had been up to this point.
Through this, Ruby decided to help her new friend with said help being the accidental revelation of the massive sentient rights abuses committed by the Schnee Corporation at Jacques's orders which couldn't be covered up. As such the World Government through Jacques under the bus so as to shift the focus and blame away from them.
As such the family's assets were seized and the home attacked but again Ruby rescued Weiss, though Weiss was already well trained in swordplay, and Jacques forced Weiss to eat the family's special Glyph-Glyph Fruit that her grandfather had once used before it reappeared in the family's garden after his death. The reason for this was so that Weiss could restore the family but after leaving her father to be arrested and making sure her mother and brother fled to safety, Weiss had other plans for restoring the Schnee name.
Those plans involved joining Ruby's newly formed crew and sailing as a pirate with her new best friend and two other friends, the first friends she'd ever had, and rebuilding the Schnee name that way. Of course Ruby's actions in the whole Schnee Affair earned the girl her first bounty and the epithet Red Reaper which led to the girls voting to name Ruby their Captain and become the Rose Pirates.
After that they made their way to the Grand Line where they really made a name for themselves, recruited 4 more members, and Weiss was voted in as first mate making her the number 2 on the crew. That said her closeness with Ruby is obvious so it was only a formality at that point.
It was during their adventures along the Grand Line that the Rose Pirates defeated the Torchwick Pirates and exposed his crimes leading to the revocation of his Warlord status and an embarrassment for the World Government. As a result of this incident the entire crew received bounties, or increases in Ruby and her sister's cases, with Weiss's bounty being 88 million off the bat though her family name helped there.
That was the bounty that Weiss had when the crew reached the Sabaody Archipelago where Weiss, along with Ruby, Yang, and Blake, was present in the Employment Office for Straw Hat Luffy's attack on Saint Charloss and engaged her sister in combat afterwards. As such Weiss is not a Super Rookie nor is she a member of the Worst Generation.
