"I...I don't know what happened," said Midoriya as he fidgeted in place whilst sitting in a chair in the lounge room. Opposite him were the combined forces of Todoroki, Bakugo and Shirou. Arguably Midoriya could not think of a more intimidating trio of people to currently be looking at him.
Many of the other students had wanted to be in on the conversation for different reasons. Some wished to know if Midoriya was okay. Others, predominantly Ashido, had simply wanted to be in on the conversation for gossip's sake.
Those who were not currently in the living quarters were sitting at the dining room table. The spread in front of them was quite impressive but very few people paid attention to the food that Bakugo and Shirou had made.
"What do you think they're talking about?"
"Quiet, I'm trying to listen."
"C'mon Jiro, use your quirk."
"For the last time no!"
"God damn this food is delicious!"
Back and forth the hushed whispers were spread whilst the four other teenagers spoke amongst themselves in relative privacy. "Todoroki, you were there," said Shirou, turning to face him. "From your perspective what happened?"
"We were making a declaration," explained Todoroki. "It looked like when Midoriya tried to emphasize his point and show how serious he was, his quirk...evolved? I'm not sure to be honest."
It was rather difficult for him to judge what had happened, having seen the destruction that Midoriya's out of control quirk had been doing in it's rampaging state. Before it could do too much damage he had unleashed his own quirk, freezing Midoriya in place and preventing the black tendrils from continuing their destructive path. The entire scenario had lasted no longer than three seconds and already it was going to be difficult enough to explain to the faculty what had happened.
"Bakugo," said Shirou, turning his attention to the person on his other side. "You've known Midoriya the longest. Have you ever seen his quirk act in this kind of way before?"
"How the heck should I know!" grumbled Bakugo. "Start of the year I thought he was a quirkless runt but lookie now, his quirk is actually trying to escape his body."
Shirou's eyes squinted momentarily at Bakugo's comment as he turned his attention to the man in question. "If what Bakugo is saying is true, your quirk developed recently as opposed to when you were a child."
"Yes," said Midoriya meekly, doing his best to avoid any sort of eye contact.
"If it only started developing recently, it's not out of the question that it is still in its infancy," said Shirou as he raised his hand to his chin. He was so glad that Rin wasn't there right now. Goodness knows what she would think of the whole scenario and the theories she would put together. It was better to take this slow and steady.
"Bullshit!" cursed Bakugo. "How does a strength boosting quirk have anything to do with tentacles bursting out of your skin?"
By now Midoriya was starting to sweat bullets. Could the black tendrils have been his quirk all along? Did he just not know how to activate it when he was younger? Had the doctor's report all those years ago been incorrect? How the hell was he going to explain this to these guys? How was he going to explain it to All Might?
Thankfully though, it seemed as if Shirou had come up with a hypothesis. "It could be that these tendrils were the source of his strength all along," he said as he scratched at his chin. "They may have been entwined with his muscle fibres or etched along the underside of his skin."
Bakugo merely clicked his tongue as he tossed his head to the side in something akin to disgust. Neither Todoroki or Shirou paid it any mind. "While not always the case, quirks can be hereditary," said Todoroki. "If not your parents specifically, could one of your ancestors have had a similar kind of quirk."
"I...I don't know," said Midoriya as he stood up from his chair. "I need to make a phone call."
"I'll save you a plate," said Shirou as he and Todoroki mirrored Midoriya's action as the green haired boy was already motoring towards the stairs, his phone already in his hands.
"Something ain't right," grumbled Bakugo as he planted his foot on the ground before stomping his way over to the table where the other students were suddenly very interested in eating what was in front of them.
Todoroki glanced at Shirou and observed the look on his face. The sword crafting warrior still seemed deep in thought and for a brief moment Todoroki wondered just what it was that Shirou was contemplating. It was obvious to everybody there that the teenager had experienced things that the rest of them could only envision in their nightmares. Undoubtedly it was because of that that his mind seemed to almost work on a different wavelength which did beg that simple question.
What was on his mind right now?
...
For the teenagers he had left behind, Midoriya knew that they more than likely imagined that he had gone to call his mother. It was understandable, especially given the fact that Todoroki had mentioned heritage.
As he reached the top of the stairs and ignored the damage done to the walls, Midoriya was scrolling through his contacts for somebody completely different from his mother. After all, he had already done all his research on his family line many years prior. He knew the quirks of each of his grandparents and none of them matched what he currently had unleashed.
He believed that this was One for All acting up. Or another part of it becoming accessible. Something! He needed to call All Might, he'd have the answers.
As he entered his room, Midoriya took in a deep breath as he prepared himself for the call that was to come.
'That's just sad! Kid, if you want to know more about my quirk then look to the source!'
Without even being able to contemplate what was happening, Mirdoriya found himself swept on a journey that he could never have predicted.
...
Shigaraki tossed a bundle of cash to the side, one of hundreds of identical bundles that the League had secured from the bank. The robbery hadn't so much been for the money but it had been for the sheer statement of it all. They needed to show the world that despite the loss of All for One, they weren't afraid of the heroes.
The world was still theirs for the taking.
But still, a bank robbery was merely the start.
While the act had been shown on the news for the violent act it was, complete with all of Twice's doubles murdering themselves, it was far more than that. It was a call to arms, a signal for every desolate piece of scum to rise up and join their ranks. Compress, Dabi, and Magne were now utilizing their time by trying to recruit those that wished to stand by their side.
Toga had also said that she had a mission of her own to undertake and simply stated that they would be pleased when she returned. Given how long she had remained on her own, Shigaraki didn't believe that she would be caught. Not like he cared.
What he cared about was what came next. The robbery had been a starting point but the majority of people who would try to come to their side would only be interested in the money. Money had a way of manipulating people however these weren't the type of small time crooks he wished to stand behind him. Which was why the next even needed to be something far grander.
Thankfully, given the intel he had gotten, such an event was soon to begin. The havoc they would cause wasn't designed to bring petty criminals to their side, but those who truly desired anarchy and devastation.
These were the villains he craved.
...
Re-Destro scowled at the monitor as the news showed the criminal act for the upteenth time. A bank robbery in broad daylight felt far too cliched for his liking. It was the criminals themselves however that he was taking an interest to.
Like many in the country, he had been paying attention to the League of Villains but most likely for alternate reasons. He still needed his plan to go ahead, the plan of Destro. For it to come to fruition however he would need to sacrifice a dangerous group of individuals.
After the disastrous event in battling Rin (a scenario which still haunted his dreams), he had to choose wisely who he would utilize to their fullest. The League of Villains was definitely a possibility provided they could find people who could optimally counter each individual character.
Many of them were simple but the one which had changed things drastically was Twice. The records they had managed to bring up on the gentlemen was that through a traumatic experience he was unable to clone himself. Unfortunately that ailment had been overcome which made him a terrifying force to deal with.
The mere fact that the clones had been willing to kill themselves without hesitation was a terrifying thought. There was no enemy more frightening then one who had no care for their own health and wellbeing. With the funds they had acquired from their heist they would be able to secure explosives which when matched with clones unafraid to die, well it was a disaster waiting to happen. The footage they would obtain from villains blowing themselves up instead of being defeated by the general populace would be too brutal to show anybody.
No, unless Twice was taken out of the picture entirely then the League of Villains was out of the question. The cause did not justify the means of the thousands who would perish in the defeat of a handful of dangerous criminals.
Their actions however could be utilized to bolster their numbers in the time being. The sheer audacity to commit such an act in the middle of the street amongst hundreds of civilians had undoubtedly caused the populace to grow nervous. If villains were prepared to act without prior warning and could threaten lives with their mere presence, why should people stand by and wait for heroes to arrive? If they felt the lives of those around them or perhaps even their children were in danger, why shouldn't they act if they were able?
Now it was a question whether or not somebody would follow the League of Villain's actions and step into the limelight. There had yet to be word of All Might since the recent confrontation which decimated Yokohama. Was he injured? Was he biding his time? Was he on vacation?
While the last one was highly unlikely the fact that the number one hero had yet to show himself was telling in it's own right. Without so much as a press conference the masses were starting to question what had happened. Undoubtedly in the coming days there would be some sort of report that would come out to tell of his condition but the hours since the encounter had made things interesting to say the least.
Still, they had waited this long and more opportunities would arise in time. They were nothing if not patient. If not this year then the next, if not then then the year after. All the while they would continue to grow in strength until the time was right.
Perhaps given enough time even Curious would properly recover.

Sweat poured forth from Stain's brow as he pushed himself as far as his body would allow him. Even if this was his absolute limit however, he would push through it and climb to higher heights. Considering he had essentially multiple floors to use as his personal training ground, he would utilize them as best he could.
Ever since having returned from the battle (if it could even be called that) with the Meta Liberation Army and having watched the destruction caused by the behemoths in Yokohama he had spent every waking minute training. He knew he was strong, far stronger than many who would dare stand against him.
His time with Rin however had shown him that there were those outside of Heroes that he should be worried about. Heroic Spirits, warriors of the past brought forward to take the life of Rin and Shirou. Many would think that as a result, he would have taken the first opportunity to get as far away from here as possible. That was not the case however.
If there was something that Stain thrived on, it was battle. So many of the heroes that had fallen to his blade had barely been able to put up a fight, merely showing their helplessness in the face of adversity. The possibility of combatting someone who was famous enough for their deeds to allow them to be summoned from history was something which brought excitement pulsing through his veins.
He knew full well that Rin had no intention of allowing herself to intentionally bring forth an enemy from a bygone era but that wasn't to say that accidents couldn't happen. Were this to be the case, he wanted to have the first crack. He wanted to test his might against the greatest history had to offer.
And he wanted to win.
...
Shirou stood at the grounds where class 2-B would be making their way within the next hour or so. The reason he had gotten here as early as he had was so that he could inspect the space that he had been given to work with. Considering the sheer size that everything else within this school was over the top, it made sense that they had given him nearly a hectare of land to work with.
The task set before the students, according to the notes that All Might had written for him, was to set up a trial where the class would be split into four groups. They would then have to traverse the landscape, a dense forest, in search of one of three missing children. The children of course were merely dummies installed with a voice box that would call out for help at random intervals. The longer the task went on for however the quieter the dummies would become.
It was a race, plain and simple and he had been given permission to punish the losing team however he saw fit. He wouldn't go overboard, to do so would just be plain torturous. A simple spar against him should serve its purpose and tell the rest of the class that it was well and truly him who was in charge.
As far as he could tell, he should utilize this time wisely in how best to set up the contest. Placing the 'children' in different locations, two probably in the highest branches of the trees, would do to start with. Then he needed to set up some traps. With roughly fifty minutes to utilize, he could definitely set up some pitfall traps around the place with the use of his armory. A dozen scattered about the area should do nicely.
Clapping his hands together, Shirou grabbed the dummies and bound off into the forest at blistering speed. Time to teach these students a lesson.

All Might laced his fingers beneath his chin as he looked at the kid in front of him who had his eyes lowered to the floor. The gibberish text he had gotten the previous night had been difficult enough to decipher but after having heard it straight from Midoriya's mouth, he couldn't help but understand how hard it must have been for him to convey it.
A quirk from one of the previous One for All users, not to mention that Midoriya had actually encountered said user in something of a one sided conversation. It was a lot to take in and something that he himself had not encountered. He had nothing against, by all means anything to help young Midoriya grow in strength was a boon in and of itself.
It did however lead to some upcoming problems.
"I recommend that you join me and Cementoss after school today and we will try and bring out 'Black Whip' again," said All Might. "We will do so in an enclosed environment where we can safely monitor just what it is."
"That's good," said Midoriya softly.
All Might could already tell what was on Midoriya's mind. The boy was clever, of that there was no doubt and as such he was already likely looking three steps ahead. "You're thinking about the Provisional Licence Hero Exam aren't you," said All Might.
"Yeah," said Midoriya sheepishly as he rubbed at the back of his head.
"You're worried that you might lose control again."
"I'm worried that if I was to lose control, I would cost my friends their license."
All Might's eyes widened slightly at that before a calming smile spread across his face. He should have known that Midoriya wasn't thinking about himself but was more concerned about his peers. "Well, I can't promise you that we'll be able to get it under control in time," said All Might as he pushed himself to his feet. "But by all means we're going to go Plus Ultra trying to get you there!"
Midoriya looked up at All Might and couldn't help but reflect the smile that was being sent down at him. "Yeah!" he said, bounding to his feet as his attitude shifted dramatically.
"I'll see you after class alright."
"You got it All Might!" declared Midoriya as he made his way to the exit, vigor pumping through his system. He only had a few days to get a hang of this new ability and he would do his utmost best!

Rin sipped at her tea, enjoying the flavor as she watched the traffic go by. It was interesting to watch as the city did it's best to set down the foundation for rebuilding itself. Over the coming days there would be a public memorial for all those who had fallen during the battle with it being held just in front of her workshop. Since it had been able to withstand the blow and consequently saved thousands of lives the people believed that it stood as the perfect beacon.
She didn't mind it, if people saw it as a symbol then they were less likely to vandalize or try and remodel it in any way. Recent gossip stated that after the memorial was done they were going to set up a park where ruin once lay; something about allowing life to grow after desolation which was sickeningly poetic and overdone.
Still though, watching people come together after such a tragedy showed that there was still a vast amount of kindness left in humanity. She had even gone out of her way to use some of the finances she had 'liberated' off of Re-Destro to have a couple truckloads of food and blankets brought into town anonymously. Even if she was seen by most as being cold hearted she wasn't one to simply watch people suffer. Plus given her recent financial situation it wasn't as if she couldn't afford to donate some to those less fortunate.
As she went about pouring another cup she eyed a pair of people walking towards her completely mismatched in their attire. Given the general trend of what people wore in this city that was saying something. It also didn't help as it looked as if it was a father and his daughter who was excitedly bouncing towards her.
"I beg your pardon Ma'am," said the gentleman as he came to a stop a few feet away from the table. "My accomplice here spotted you through the window and simply had to come greet you."
"Well then," said Rin as she put her tea down. "To whom am I being greeted by?"
"I'm La Brava, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Tohsaka Rin," said the small girl with a deep curtsey.
"Lovely to meet you too La Brava. So were the two of you merely perusing the neighbourhood or are you here for a specific reason?" asked Rin.
"Well," said the man as he looked around suspiciously before leaning forward. "We heard rumours that a nearby convenience store has raised their prices on basic medical supplies immediately after the disaster. If this is indeed true, we will make them see the error of their ways."
"I see," said Rin, quickly understanding just what they were. They weren't villains, criminals or heroes. If anything it sounded as if they were a couple of people taking matters into their own hands on a much, much smaller scale than what she was used to. She couldn't help but ponder who was the mastermind between the two or whether it was a joint effort that would go unseen by the masses.
Businesses wishing to make a few extra dollars during times of strife was nothing new and given the general concerns of the populace at that moment in time; most of them wouldn't even be aware that they were being charged that little bit extra. Such 'crimes against the people' wouldn't even be looked at by mainstream media or even pop up in a classifieds in the back of the paper. To see these two doing what they felt was the right thing was somewhat adorable.
"Would you like to come with us?" asked La Brava.
Now, while Rin would normally come up with some elaborate explanation why she wouldn't waste her time on such a thing, the fact that she was being asked by such a young girl in front of her made it difficult to resist. Little did she know that said girl was already a fully grown woman in her early twenties and simply suffered from the fact she never had had a growth spurt. Despite that, given that she really didn't have much to do for the day and Stain was currently stinking up the basement with his workout routine, a small day trip sounded quite entertaining.
"Very well," said Rin as she went to finish her tea.
"There is no need to rush," said the gentleman, holding his hands out. "Good tea should never be wasted after all."
"As you wish," said Rin as she merely took a sip of the liquid in her cup.
Today may very well turn out to be interesting after all.
