Epilogue:
Forty five minutes later, at the hospital...
Cassie is in a hospital bed with sunglasses over her eyes. The girls are all sitting on the hospital bed by her. Julia has her glasses back on.
Julia assures, "we're still here, Cassie."
All the girls have comforting hands on Cassie's.
Anya assures, "and we're not leaving you over you being blind or anything."
They're all smiling wide.
Cassie solemnly points out, "I wouldn't still be alive if it weren't for the three of you. Thank you."
Mattie lightly comments, "right back at you."
Anya explains, "oh. And... Me and Mattie caught the news about the burning wreckage of the warehouse when we got some refills for our water bottles from the lobby. The two guards weren't hurt. The crater pulled in some ocean water. Firefighters didn't have a hard time putting out the fire at all."
Cassie says, "that's good news."
The girls agree.
Teary eyed... Cassie bittersweetly reflects, "and... The paramedic part of me wishes no one had to die: Even knowing Morlun was a bastard who deserved a good punch or three."
On the last part? Mattie can't help but chuckle.
Teary eyed... Julia solemnly assures, "there's nothing wrong with that part of you, Cassie. I feel the same way as you."
Mattie adds, "maybe we all do."
They all bittersweetly smile. Mattie and Anya are teary eyed too.
A doctor comes into Cassie's hospital room.
The doctor asks, "are you all immediate family?"
Cassie is quick to say, "yes. They're all my immediate family."
The doctor somewhat lightly states, "okay. Good. Well... Your medical test results won't be until tomorrow morning, and we're highly recommending you stay here for the night for observation in case there are more medical surprises from your near death experience by the docks. But... Your immediate family can stay with you through the night if you all want."
Cassie checks, "girls? What do you think?"
Without a second thought... All three girls say they're staying with Cassie through the night.
With a smile... The doctor concludes, "very well. And... You have several visitors. They each say they're friends of yours. Should I let them in, or do you need more rest?"
With some mixed feelings... Cassie concludes, "thank you doctor. My very recent near death experience has been difficult on all of my physical senses. Moderate sigh. I'm hypothetically coherent enough to talk to all of my visiting friends. But... I just can't mentally handle several more people talking in the same room right now. It would have to be one at a time or something like that. I'm really sorry. I wish they could all come in at the same time."
The doctor replies, "it's okay Cassie Web. I'll explain the situation to them and see if they'll all be okay with your medical limit. I'll be back soon."
Cassie just says, "thank you."
The doctor goes out the door.
Julia, Anya, and Mattie bittersweetly smile to Cassie. She bittersweetly smiles too.
Mattie somewhat nervously wonders, "if it's not cool to ask you now? I'll understand. But... Are you partially blind, or...?"
Psychokinetically... Cassie sees figures with red to yellow heat patterns and silhouettes of objects with colder temperature.
She's even seeing the comforting hands on her hands as hand shaped heat patterns.
Cassie somewhat shakily voices, "yes and no, girls. It's...like seeing only by temperature: If that makes sense. It... Hard sniffle. It really scares me: Not seeing any of your faces, your hair, or what clothes you're wearing that most people can see. Hard sniffle. I... I don't know yet what's coming next for me or you. But... I'm happier knowing you're all here for me. I know we're all going to see through this together."
Tears fall from all their faces.
Yet... Cassie and the three girls bittersweetly smile.
Julia somberly assures, "Cassie... Hard sniffle. We're bittersweetly smiling, and so are you. Please believe us."
Anya and Mattie agree on Julia's observation.
Cassie solemnly says, "Julia? Anya? Mattie? I believe all of you. Thank you."
Almost at the same time... All the girls tell her, "you're welcome."
Soon... Cassie gets visitors.
All the while... From a car driving by the window of Cassie's hospital room... A car radio starts playing the song Not Quite Paradise by Bliss 66.
Autumn with her baby Rudolph, Ben, Neil with Jersey, Ben with Amaria... They all come to check on Cassie and the three girls.
After finding out about Cassie's medical condition? They all try to assure them that it'll be okay and that her partial blindness is better than total blindness.
Amaria usually works the third shift at her IT job on weekends. She came to the hospital as soon as she could. She has dark brown hair mostly tied back in a ponytail. She wears a pearl necklace and a mostly gray and red Aztec styled dress.
Autumn's baby Rudolph is doing well.
Cassie and the girls thank all their friends for their assurances. They all bittersweetly smile.
Later that night...
Cassie and the girls are getting ready to go to sleep.
Cassie and Julia are planning to casually sleep together in the same hospital bed. Mattie and Anya are planning to casually sleep together in a vacant hospital bed nearby.
Suddenly... There's a knock on the door.
Mattie cautiously answers the door.
It turns out to be N.S.A. agent Jill.
She introduces herself to the three girls. They say hello her.
Cassie concludes, "please don't misunderstand, Jill. I'm thankful you could stop by to check on us. But... What took you so long?"
With a wide smile... Jill explains, "I had a long talk with the N.S.A. You're no longer nationally seen as a identity thief. And... I have even better news. They really don't want their mistake of letting Morlun be a N.S.A. asset to become public because it could very well lead to government agency infighting and government lawsuits. And... In light of your medical diagnosis... The N.S.A. is offering you ten thousand dollars in government severance pay in exchange for signing a non-disclosure agreement explaining what I've just told you."
On the last part? She hands Cassie a legal document on a clipboard.
Stunned sounding... Cassie asks, "what?"
Mattie somewhat lightly goes, "holy shit! That sounds both seriously messed up and hilariously great for us."
Julia and Anya chuckle. Cassie and Jill nervously chuckle some.
Cassie suggests, "um... Julia? Anya? You both know legal terms better than me. Please read this over for me."
Anya is quick to add, "no problem."
Julia and Anya read over the legal document.
After a bit... Julia says, "Cassie... It's exactly what Jill says it is. I for one see no legal terms that say signing this will mean you can't sue us for anything else."
Anya considers, "I don't see any red flags with this non-disclosure agreement either. So... Cassie... You want to sign off on your big severance pay?"
Cassie concludes, "I'd really like to. You've all convinced me. I'll sign the non-disclosure agreement, Jill."
Everyone is smiling wide.
Jill says, "thank you very much Cassie." Cassie tells her, "no. Thank you for everything you've done for us."
Jill hands Cassie a pen.
Cassie thinks out loud, "oh. And... Julia? Please guide my arm to where I should sign."
Julia is quick to add, "I'd be delighted."
And... With Julia's help... Cassie signs Jill's legal document.
Over the next seven days...
The severance pay assured Cassie well enough that she could financially care for all three girls in her apartment.
Cassie and Julia casually sleep together in the bed. Mattie and Anya casually sleep together on the couch.
They all thought they could easily take care of each other.
But... Accommodating for Cassie's medical conditions turns out to be harder than they all thought.
For three days... Cassie needs plenty of help from all the girls for day to day stuff.
Julia helps Cassie with most all of her reading needs including facial expressions of everyone around them. Cassie finds out the hard way that her partial blindness gives her migraines from watching TV or movies for over five minutes.
Anya helps Cassie with the legal adoption papers for all the girls to legally get to stay with Cassie. Anya also helps Cassie with her clothes and with her driving by reading street signs.
Mattie helps Cassie with the dishes, cleaning up trash, and making school lunches for all the girls. All the girls are helping each other with their homework.
After three days... Almost everyone is frustrated with how little free time they have.
Mattie has been getting restless with no one to share her free time with.
On the fourth day... A accident leads to some more hope for Cassie's medical condition.
Mattie and Anya accidentally leave the lamp on overnight after doing homework in Cassie's bedroom.
With help from that lamp... Cassie and Julia realize Cassie could read the digital clock again.
After school that day... Anya buys a cheap desk lamp from a antique store and a light bulb.
Anya also puts together a new skateboard for Mattie to replace the one that got destroyed at the diner. It's a skateboard made out of a car door from a car wreck at a junkyard.
Some skateboard like wheels and spray paint did the rest.
Julia and Cassie test out Cassie's new desk lamp. It proves to be a big help for Cassie reading food items, finances, and so on around the apartment.
Mattie can skateboard to school and back again. Julia uses some of her own savings to buy a GPS for Cassie to get to fully drive herself.
Anya and Julia finally find free time again to do sketches, sudokus, and watch TV and movies with Mattie.
On the fifth day... They all agree that Cassie going to stores and the supermarket wouldn't be hellish if Cassie finally got a seeing eye dog.
Anya and Mattie make a blueprint together for a extension of the fire escape section around Cassie's apartment. It's a rectangular room made of metal rungs with another bed and another lamp.
On the sixth day... All the legal papers for the girls are settled: Including Anya's citizenship papers from N.S.A. agent Jill.
On the seventh day...
Cassie is sitting on her couch with her seeing eye dog. She just got her today.
She is a mostly very dark bluish colored Doberman. Her name is Summer.
Cassie is wearing her sunglasses, her open red leather jacket, and a T-shirt with a sunny sky across it. Anya bought the T-shirt for her as a gift.
Summer is cuddled up to Cassie's side. Cassie has a arm around her. She is lightly petting her with her other hand.
Cassie hears the apartment door open.
With a wide smile... Cassie thinks out loud, "the girls are in for quite a surprise."
Julia, Anya, and Mattie come in to her apartment.
Julia is wearing a mostly bright yellow T-shirt and a open white sweater like jacket with blue stripes on the sleeves. Anya is wearing a very dark blue top and a open mostly white sweater like jacket with Mexican flag colors along the sides. Mattie is wearing a dark blue sweater like jacket over a dark blue to light blue striped T-shirt.
Sounding amused... Anya says, "you left all your mail downstairs again."
Mattie adds, "and we got takeout."
She and Julia have brought two bags of Chinese food takeout to the kitchen counter. Anya has Cassie's mail on the table by the window.
Suddenly... All three girls look wide eyed in shock toward the TV screen.
Almost at the same time... They all say, "Cassie... You're actually watching something?!"
Cassie doesn't look to have a headache. But, she is watching on broadcast a TV episode of Without a Trace.
Julia asks in concern, "are you getting migraines again?"
She goes over to feel Cassie's forehead. She doesn't have a fever.
Completely unphased... Cassie reveals, "girls... I made a new discovery last night. At first? I thought I was just dreaming that I could fully see New York streets and our cat Frank from my window. But... If I concentrate hard enough with my powers? I can, for twenty minutes, see like a human. It mentally takes a lot out of me. I found out today that concentrating on my eyes for this long makes my legs temporarily paralyzed. But... I can also right now see all your wonderful faces."
All the girls smile wide.
At the same time... Mattie and Anya lightly go, "that's great news!"
Julia lightly adds, "wow. That's wonderful! We're all so happy for you, Cassie."
Each of the girls hug Cassie tight. She hugs them back.
Then... Cassie puts a arm back around Summer.
Julia sits next to Cassie on the other side of the couch.
Cassie concludes, "thank you. I'm so happy too. And... Kung-Pow chicken is perfect. Thank you."
Julia rhetorically asks, "How did you know?"
Suddenly... Anya annoyedly calls out, "Mattie!"
Mattie is already starting to eat from one of the Chinese food containers.
Mattie casually says, "what? I told you I'm starving."
Anya comments, "hangry can be a bitch."
Mattie bittersweetly replies, "exactly! I'm saving you all the pain of seeing me hangry."
Everyone else laughs at that.
Summer is licking Cassie's hand.
Anya can't help but wonder, "so... Now that you have this "new power" for your vision... What's the story on Summer?"
Cassie assures, "crowds and most loud noises are hell on all my senses. So... Summer isn't going away anytime soon, girls. She's our new member of the immediate family."
Cassie goes back to lightly petting Summer. Summer lightly barks.
All three girls smile wide.
Anya gets out the rest of the Chinese takeout containers.
Anya brings up, "Cassie? Julia? We're probably going to have to reheat our food. But, I don't mind."
Cassie and Julia say they don't mind either. Mattie has already eaten half of a certain Chinese takeout container with a fork.
Julia checks, "Cassie... Can I pet Summer?"
Cassie assures, "yes. You all can."
They all continue to smile wide.
Julia adds, "thank you."
She starts lightly petting Summer. Summer lightly barks.
Julia wonders, "Cassie... Have you had any good visions lately?"
Cassie implies, "oh yeah. Plenty today."
Mattie asks, "really? About all of us?"
Cassie highlights, "yes. I can see all of you. Standing up for what you believe. Never giving up. Discovering you are more powerful than you thought on a whole new level."
In Cassie's mind...
Flashes go by: Of Anya opening a letter with a rainforest stamp on it, of three Peruvian Amazon Spiders climbing toward the apartment windows...and of more grown up versions of the three girls in action with each of their Spider-Woman superhero outfits.
Spider-Woman Mattie with her super strength is helping stop a deadly fusion reactor alongside Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus by taking out the support beams around a vacant warehouse to sink it underwater in time.
Spider-Woman Anya is teaming up with Iron Man and War Machine to take down Ivan Vanko's Iron Man battlesuit styled drones with Anya's electrically charged grappling hooks, repulsor rays, and unibeams.
Spider-Woman Julia and Black Widow are teaming up to take down Hammer Industries's security guards with electric shock discs, violent acrobatic kicks, Black Widow's cable wires, and Julia's psychokinetic web lines.
Spider-Woman Mattie's superhero outfit is a mostly dark blue jumpsuit with a black lined red spider across the chest. She has a dark red mask on her face. She has psychokinetic electrical powers from her hands and gold spider like cybernetic arms.
Spider-Woman Anya's superhero outfit is a mostly metallic exoskeleton battlesuit with a black lined light blue spider across the chest. She has a silvery mask on her face. She has electrically charged light blue spider styled grappling hooks and Spider-Man styled web shooters built in the wrists of her battlesuit.
Presently, out in the physical...
Mattie figures, "you know something? That totally makes sense to me."
Anya and Julia agree.
Cassie suggests, "like right now."
The three girls all look stunned at her.
Julia nervously asks, "Cassie... What are you trying to tell us?"
Cassie points out, "there's one letter in the mail today that isn't junk mail. It's from Peru."
Anya quickly checks the mail. She finds a envelope from Peru with a Amazon rainforest stamp on it.
She opens the envelope over the kitchen counter. Mattie and Julia are standing there now. Mattie is done eating for now.
Mattie awkwardly comments, "oh my god. I hope it's not syringes."
Julia nervously responds, "why did you have to say that? Now I'm worried!"
She makes a nervous face. Summer starts to whines.
Cassie lightly pets Summer and whispers assurances to her.
After a bit... Summer lightly barks a little.
Anya tries to assure, "Mattie? Julia? Relax! It's just a letter from the Las Aranyas tribe."
Anya and Cassie smile wide. Julia and Mattie sigh in relief.
And... Anya reads out loud the letter from the Las Aranyas tribe.
This is what the letter says:
Dear Cassie Web,
Thank you very much for stopping Morlun for good as we foresaw.
We, the Las Aranyas tribe, can all now return safely to the Peruvian Amazon to live in peace and harmony with nature, spiders, and indigenous peoples of the Amazon.
As part of our thank you? We want to give gifts of power for the good of humanity and for the good of your immediate family.
When and if Julia, Anya, and Mattie want to accept these gifts?
All they each have to do is mail a letter to us asking to see a Peruvian Amazon Spider. We'll know what to do.
Please at least tell the girls about our offer. I'm sure any and all of them can be superheroes like you.

Mattie says, "I don't know if you both want super powers. But... Cassie? Sign me up now!"

Cassie brings up, "you know Mattie... Super powers come with a lot of responsibility. Are you sure you want it right away?"
Mattie considers, "well... Maybe in a week. I want at least one weekend with less responsibility."
Cassie just says, "okay. I'll ask you again in a week." Mattie adds, "cool."
Julia deduces, "I want super powers. But... Maybe after I graduate high school. I want to be really sure I can handle the responsibility."
Anya deduces, "that's a fair point. I'm with you, Julia. Except for the whole part of waiting until graduation. Maybe in six months."
Cassie reflects, "whenever you each decide to get your gifts of power... You know I'm always respecting your wishes. I'm so proud of all of you already."
They're all smiling wide.
After a bit... Julia is reheating Chinese food for most everyone.
Mattie implies, "Anya... For next weekend? You still got that movie. Right?"
Anya recalls, "ohh yeah! With Cassie able to see normally again for limited amounts of time... We could all watch Clockstoppers after all."
Anya moves the mail to the kitchen counter. Cassie turns off the TV with the TV remote.
Anya, Julia, and Cassie are going over to the table with their Chinese food takeout containers.
Julia concludes, "I like it! It could be a Sunday or Saturday watching marathon with concentration breaks for Cassie's medical condition."
Cassie lightly adds, "I'm in." Julia adds, "if you're going? I'm going. Count me in."
Mattie adds, "I'm in too." Anya lightly concludes, "great! Movie day next weekend it is."
They're all lightly fist bumping each other's fists.
Everyone chuckles a little.
Mattie goes to the couch to sit by Summer. Anya, Julia, and Cassie start to eat their Chinese food.
From the radio in Cassie's apartment... The song Cinnamon by Tiffany D. is playing.
And... Cassie is thinking to herself, "whatever the future holds... We'll be ready. It's like carving stone or making tattoos. With a good heart and the right guidance... There is nothing we can't do."
In Cassie's mind...
Flashes go by: Of Cassie looking at a letter from Nick Fury asking if she wants a well paid job as a secret agent for S.H.I.E.L.D, of Cassie as a secret agent for S.H.I.E.L.D. taking out a evil hacker at the Pentagon with a walking stick, of Anya's new mostly red bedroom on the extended fire escape, of a grown up Mattie getting married to astronaut Captain John Jameson in a church with Peter Parker and a reformed Doctor Octopus there...and of a grown up Anya and a grown up Julia getting married in the year 2011 in a church in New York.
Grown up Mattie has a mostly white wedding dress. Grown up Anya and Julia have mostly lightly blue wedding dresses.
And... A few more flashes go by:
