SHADOW: ULTIMATE
A/N: Welp, I'm back again with Chapter 5! This story is soon reaching the midway point! With that being said, sit back, relax, and enjoy this new, explosive chapter of Shadow: Ultimate!
Chapter 5 – Opportunities of Revenge.
"Wake up Luna. We've got to get moving," Shadow barked.
Luna groaned, clearly not wanting to move. "Just five more minutes…" she mumbled.
Shadow stood, arms crossed, clearly annoyed. "Come on. Wake up. We have to go. Now."
Luna reluctantly got up, and to her surprise, Shadow's rest area was not touched.
"Did you get any sleep last night Shadow?" asked Luna curiously.
"I am the Ultimate Life-form. I do not need sleep. Nor do I ever need to go to a hospital as a result." Shadow bluntly replied.
"Oh, right!," Luna responded, clearly confused. What's this about an Ultimate Life-form? She wondered.
Shadow's communicator then received signal. Someone was trying to contact. Shadow attached the communicator and turned it on.
"Who is it?" Shadow asked. Luna turned around, looking at Shadow at confusion. To her, he was talking to nothing like a madman!
"My my Shadow, why are you talking to me like that? I'm hurt!" came the jokey and sarcastic voice of Sonic the Hedgehog over the comms.
"Oh. It's you. You dialled in. What's the scoop?" barked Shadow.
"Well. Eggman struck again like I said last night. I whooped his ass again, think it's like the 47th time this month alone, and he swore revenge. But something he said stayed with me," said Sonic.
Shadow got intrigued. "What did he say, Sonic?"
"HeknowsaboutAngelCity..." said Sonic quickly.
"Slow down Sonic. Speak again. In a more articulative tone please." Shadow ordered.
"Fine. He knows. About Angel City." Sonic stated grimly. Shadow's face went from concerned to furious.
"WHAT?! HOW?!" Shadow cried out, making Luna look up in shock and confusion.
"Don't ask me, I don't know!"
"This is bad. Since he knows about this..." Shadow trailed off.
"Then he will no doubt screw up this already compromised mission!" exclaimed Sonic.
"Thanks Sonic. I'll be in contact soon."
"No problem, Shadow."
"Bye."
Shadow then ended contact and removed the communicator. Luna stood looking at him confused. This did not go unnoticed.
"Hmph. And what exactly are you staring at?" asked Shadow.
Luna's face turned bright red in embarrassment. "N-nothing, we should be going..."Shadow nodded, and they left the shelter."So. Where to Shadow?" asked Luna.
"Take me to the bank. Oh. And we'll need to get some hoods. Don't want to be spotted too easily."
Mephiles the Dark sat in his throne in the main hall. After killing the armadillo, he had instructed his men to dispose of the body. They had yet to return. All of a sudden, the doors flew open. A pained voice echoed. "M-my lord!"
Mephiles stood up. His face changed from one of boredom to utter disappointment as the soldier ran to the throne and kneeled.
"Well. Did you do what I asked?" he asked in a bored tone.
"M-my lord, we managed to d-dispose of the body, but there was something else at play..."
"Do tell. Unless you want to have your skull crushed in with my foot."
The soldier looked scared. He took a deep breath and began to speak.
"O-our best security guard was found knocked out cold, m-my lord."
Upon hearing this, Mephiles leaned forward in the throne. "Our best guard knocked out? Well, this is a first. Do you have any idea who did it, you insolent swine?"
"W-when he came to, h-he was t-telling us about t-the one who did this..."
Mephiles picked him up by the neck. "And just WHO was the one who did it? Hurry up and stop stalling, runt!"
The soldier coughed and panted for breath. "P-please my lord… let me-ack-let me g-go…"
Mephiles stopped. Contemplating for a few seconds, he hurled the soldier across the room. There was an aura of fury in his eyes.
"You have 15 seconds to tell me who did it or so help me God I will crush your bones to the point you'll be permanently bedridden. I suggest you talk now. Don't you dare ramble."
"H-he was a hedgehog. The security guard stated that, now that he thinks about it, he looked like you, except he had red patches on his body instead of g-grey! He also had r-red eyes and, apart from that you too looked entirely identical!" the Soldier cried.
Mephiles's eyes widened. Finally.. if that is who I'm thinking about.. my revenge will soon be at hand! He thought.
"Shadow the Hedgehog has finally showed himself. My only question is, how did he get into Angel City?" asked Mephiles.
"S-sire, none of us are sure as to how he got here, or his whereabouts at the moment! You've got to go into hiding! We're all going to – GUAARGH!"
The soldier looked down and saw an energy wave impaling his stomach. Mephiles relinquished the ray, and the soldier closed his eyes. He fell dead, and a pool of blood began to surround him.
"I can take care of myself. And as for your failure to figure out what is going on, consider yourself fired," said Mephiles to the now-dead soldier. He turned to another soldier that had just entered the room. "Get rid of the body and get someone to clean the blood up," Mephiles ordered. The solider bowed, before picking up the corpse and moving away, without saying a single word.
Mephiles walked back to his throne, before sitting down. The thought of Shadow returning excited him. With nothing else to do, he began to plot his revenge.
"You mean to tell me THAT'S where the money is kept?"
Shadow and Luna were standing outside the Angel City bank, wearing baggy clothing and hoods so that they would not be easily identified.
"Yep! So, why exactly do you need to be sneaking into the bank, Shadow?"
"After the run-in with security guards, I can't exactly be going around taking everything I see. They all know my face by now. That guard I knocked out must have snitched. I need to take a little bit of money from there without being seen, and then I'm good."
"Great plan. But there's just one thing. How the heck do you expect to be not caught on this during the day?" asked Luna.
Shadow facepalmed. "Have you ever considered me doing a night-time operation?"
Luna's face turned red again in humiliation. "O-oh yeah, that totally slipped my mind.. silly me.."
"Don't worry about it. Now, I'll need your help Luna."
Luna's face lit up immediately. "Of course! What can I do?" she eagerly asked.
"Do you know the bank well?"
"Why of course! I used to work there when I was a young kid! I know every nook and cranny of the place! Why?"
"I need to find a good and quiet entry into the building…."
A/N: Well, that's where we'll leave this chapter. But, what will happen next? How will the bank robbery go? Will Shadow ever meet his match? Find out, in the next explosive chapter of Shadow: Ultimate!
Yes, I know I've been quiet recently, and I do apologize. It's been exam season recently and I've been trying to unwind and find more time to continue writing. But, I swear this will not go, I've got big plans for this and future projects. To make up for this, here is a tiny extract from a new story coming after Shadow: Ultimate's completion!
Silver gulped as he stepped into the ring. He took a moment to look. The fact that many people were looking scared him. But, there was no time to be worried. Taking a deep breath, he went into a fighting stance, looking at his opponent.
"Let the first match of the Chaos Tournament begin!"
