A purple cat tossed and turned on a couch that was located in the living room which was surrounded by his companions who were a crew known as The Smiling Critters which consisted of eight members, an elephant named Bubba Bubbaphant, a green rabbit named Hoppy Hopscotch, a pig named PickyPiggy, a red bear called Bobby BearHug, a unicorn named CraftyCorn and a chicken named Kicken Chicken, an orange dog named DogDay who was the leader of the group and finally the purple cat whose name was CatNap, the odd one out as he had always felt alienated by the group and the only reason he was even at this supposed sleepover was because the orange dog insisted on him coming, promising him that it would be fun and considering how DogDay was his only true friend and didn't want to let him down he agreed, the cat kept moaning and sobbing while his nightmares tormented him, after a good five minutes of torture the cat finally shot up breathing heavily feeling his heart race a million miles per hour, luckily there was a light sleeper among the group as DogDay who was only on the other side of the couch woke up sensing his friend's discomfort

"Hey, hey Catnap are you okay?"whispered the very concerned dog

CatNap shook his head breathing heavily while remaining in the foetal position

"Oh... c'mere"said DogDay pulling the distraught cat into a hug where he would heave as hard as he could into his best friend's shoulder

The warmth and vanilla scent that was radiating from the affectionate dog gave the cat a sense of security and comfort

"Did you have a bad dream?"said DogDay

CatNap nodded, holding him a whole lot tighter

"Oh no... can you tell me what it was about?"said DogDay

CatNap shook his head not wanting to relive the horrible experience

"You don't wanna talk about it?"said DogDay

The cat shook his head frantically wanting to do nothing but squeeze his friend to death

"Shhhhh it's okay, it's okay I'm here for you"said DogDay

"*Sobs* I... I"said CatNap

"Shhhhhh, you don't have to say anything"said DogDay pulling him into his chest and lying down while putting the soft blanket over them

"...W...What are you..."said CatNap

He was interrupted with a soft hum which immediately put the purple cat at ease and start purring which indicated that he was passed out

"Good night Moon"said DogDay nuzzling his friends head ever so sweetly

Tap...Tap...Tap

The vacant hallway was excruciatingly quiet despite the rusty pipes leaking where there was a cage wide open with a mutilated dog with his legs cut off, beaten and bruised and most of all in pain emotionally and physically

"Please end it"he wished

there was then a bunch of loud stomps heading towards the cell which made the poor dog tense up expecting to feel the worst pain imaginable and sadly he was right

"Hello, oooold friend"said a deep horse voice which once had sounded so sweet and comforting

"Please just get it over with"said DogDay

"I don't think I will"said the monster who was a massive lanky cat whose smile and eyes were pure evil staring into the depths of the dog's soul

Seeing his friends transformation again after so long made DogDay tear up, watching his own friend slowly kill him which was more painful than losing his legs

"Oh don't cry, your 'angel' is coming but he'll be in for one helluva surprise, but before that happens do you have any last words?"said the elongated monster

"I...loved you... you were like a brother to me... but you turn your back on me, on us and all for that THING"yelled DogDay

"HE IS OUR LORD"yelled the monster punching the dog

"OUR SAVIOUR"said the monster punching him again

"OUR GOD"yelled the monster gouging out his eyes which was followed by an ear piercing scream

"All you had to do was follow the prototype, accept him as your lord and saviour and maybe... just maybe"said the monster slowly sounding more high pitched and sweet sounding which made the dogs head perk up to the familiar voice

"Then maybe you could have stayed with me"said CatNap

"CatNap, I..."said DogDay

"SHUT UP YOU FILTHY HERETIC"yelled the monster tearing up

"I miss you, sweet Moon"said DogDay

"Don't call me that, there is still time for salvation, join the prototype there is still time for you"said the monster switching voices

"Please Moon, talk to me"said DogDay

"It's too late, your sweet Moon is gone"said the monster filling the room with red gas which made the dog pass out, the monster then started wailing in anger and genuine sadness

"I missed you, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry I hurt you"said CatNap resting his mutated face on his shoulder, after crying on his shoulder for a bit he decided to cut DogDay down

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"

"He doesn't deserve this, he never did"said CatNap cuddling the poor dog, he picked him up

"KILL HIM, KILL HIM, KILL HIM"

"NO"CatNap yelled holding onto the dog tighter

Player walked in on this and froze in fear, knowing that he would be killed on sight and there was nowhere to go, the cat turned showing Player its disturbing smile but his eyes and ears were full of despair

"You..."said the monster about to get up

he then felt the dogs paw on his chest

"No... not them, please Moon"said DogDay

"Sunshine..."CatNap muttered holding the pup and speeding past Player and breaking the boards that was covering the hole in the floor and entering it, he then started taking twists and turns in the tunnels

"Where are you taking me?"said DogDay

"Safety"said CatNap

"Why won't you just kill me?"said DogDay

"... I'm scared"said CatNap opening above him and after climbing up CatNap placed DogDay on a table

"A workshop?"said DogDay

CatNap came to his side with a pair of legs and reattaching them to DogDay

"Can you walk?"said CatNap

DogDay stood up and clenched his fists in anger

"You were trying to kill me before"said DogDay

CatNap stared down in shame

"I... know... you were all I had left... which was why I changed my mind, prototype won't be happy about this"said CatNap

DogDay growled before blowing up

"I DON'T CARE ABOUT PROTOTYPE, YOUR CREEPY OBSESSION WITH HIM IS WHAT CAUSED ALL THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE, I LOST EVERYTHING AND YOU JUST WANTED TO SEE ME SUFFER BY KEEPING ME ALIVE, I SHOULD'VE KNOWN THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU, YOU WERE ALWAYS JEALOUS OF ME, PUSHED ME AWAY WHENEVER I WANTED TO GET CLOSE TO YOU, I tried sticking up for you, I tried telling our friends you were just like us so I wasn't the only person you had to talk to, I thought the whole world of you, you were my brother, you were my best friend, I believed in you when no one else did and you turned your back on me, trampled me into the dust killed everyone I loved and you made me watch I BEGGED FOR YOU TO STOP WHY DIDN'T YOU STOP, I CRIED I WAS IN PAIN AND YOU DIDN'T CARE, I LOVED YOU AND YOU STILL DID THAT I EVEN WENT TO YOU SO WE COULD EVACUATE THE BUILDING TOGETHER AND I DIDN'T WANNA LOSE YOU DESPITE WHAT ANYONE SAID ABOUT IT BEING TOO LATE FOR YOU TO ESCAPE"said DogDay

"I have a lot to answer for but I feel like if I told you why I did everything I did it won't be enough for you to understand"said CatNap

"TELL ME, HOW COULD YOU HURT ME SO BAD?"said DogDay

"For the record, I was never jealous of you, I was happy for you but... you were the only person who appreciated me, I wanted more people to love me just so I didn't feel like an outcast, I would look at you because I was frustrated with myself because I wanted to be like you but I didn't have the outgoing energy you had, the prototype saved my life, he was my friend and he was someone who also loved me... and I preferred him over you because... he didn't have any, just like me before I met you which was why it felt like we clicked and why I worshipped him and... everyone else hated me, even you JUST STOOD THERE whenever the group ganged up on me, it looked like your love was fake... you looked like you wanted to say something but you wouldn't, the prototype was the only thing I could turn to... then he turned me into this, a terrifying creature and the scientists locked me away from society, from my home, from you despite everything I still wanted you to join me because I had hoped that you'd follow me as I had you... be honest, you never loved me... you just felt bad for me"said CatNap

"That was your choice, you could have stopped the hour of joy and I did care, the group was just... hard to stand up against, also the prototype was a cold heartless killer he doesn't care about anyone, he used you"said DogDay

"I know but I'm pretty much used to, everyone likes to do it"said CatNap

"I never used you, yes it was cruel for them to lock you away, I would always visit any chance I got, you know that right?"said DogDay

CatNap nodded

"So, give me the real reason why you betrayed everyone"said DogDay

"... I'm afraid, I'm scared of the prototype, I don't feel safe like I did twenty nine years ago, I feel a constant wave of guilt every damn day, I missed you but I couldn't face you, how could I? I just want things to go back to the way it was despite being tormented by everyone on a daily basis... I still had you"said CatNap

"All you had to do was come to me and tell me about it, I could've helped you"said DogDay as his voice broke while he teared up

"I know, and that's the worst of it"said CatNap crying as hard as he could for the first time in years

They then heard a giant thud above them which bothered CatNap

"Oh no, he's here, we need to go"he said shoving DogDay back into the trapdoor

"You coming?"said DogDay

Catnap stayed there debating whether to face his punishment or follow the dog

"I'm sorry Sunshine... but I can't keep going, I deserve this"said CatNap

"NO MOON... CATNAP"yelled DogDay

"GO"yelled CatNap

He obeyed and left the cat to his demon

"I GAVE YOU EVERYTHING"

"YOU TURNED ME INTO A MONSTER, FACE ME YOU COWARD"yelled CatNap

He then felt a sharp pain pierce through his chest and was thrown to the ground but somehow, someway the cat got up and tore the arm right off which made the prototype scream in pain before finally leaving, cat grabbed his chest slowly bleeding out, he got in the tunnel and crawled to the point where there was a gap between him and a lift so he scaled the wall to get to the other side despite it hurting like hell, once at the top he noticed a DogDay cutout, wanting to here his voice as a source of comfort he pressed the button

"DogDay says fetch"

"GO GO AS FAR AS YOU CAN"

"Why... are you just standing there?"

this made Catnap tear up as he had a flashback

"GO GO AS FAR AS YOU CAN"yelled DogDay enthusiastically

CatNap stood there smiling at his companion but in a creepy manner

"Why are you just standing there?"said DogDay

There was no response

"CatNap?"said DogDay feeling rather uncomfortable

No response

"You're scaring me"said DogDay cowering a bit

CatNap walked up to him slowly which made DogDay back up a bit but CatNap walked past him, heading home this made DogDay start shaking a bit as he was worried for his friend and slightly terrified of him

"I was forced to put on a smile as the transformation kept going, DogDay thought I was trying to scare when I only stood there awkwardly and wasn't in the mood to play, luckily we made up and he understood... you were so innocent and I ruined it... I'm sorry"thought CatNap walking towards the slide and going down into the Playcare where he lays down on the grass feeling really cold as he lost more blood then he heard footsteps behind him, he turned and saw Player

"Let me die in peace please"said CatNap

"Why didn't you kill DogDay and me?"said Player

"I'm tired of killing people... DogDay was my friend and I couldn't kill him... as for you I wanted to but he stopped me, then the prototype did this to me"said CatNap never feeling so betrayed

"Is there anything I can do?"said Player

"Yeah, if you see... DogDay, tell him I love him"said CatNap crying while he died, letting the guilt finally consume him as he bled to death

"Don't worry I will... I'm sure he feels the same way"said Player

CatNap finally passed out and Player walked away after that Player would go onto kill Prototype and find a way out of here but before deciding to leave they decided to make a choice that would not only change their life but everyone in the buildings lives they decided to bring back everyone back to life by transferring their parts into modified and more cute cuddly bodies that Player made themselves and now the rest of the smiling critters were now reborn and looking like their original selves but this came with a cost as they still had memory of what happened to them before they were transferred into their new body's that was basically their cartoon selves even Huggy and Mommy Long Legs etc were brought back and were fairly sane but there was one more minority and that was CatNap who was brought back which enraged the smiling critters
