Summary: Damien is jealous of Julia and MK's friendship and yet he can't seem to figure out why.
Damien doesn't normally get jealous. In fact, it usually took a lot for him to feel anything negative for a very long time but for the past three weeks, he's been feeling this way.
Don't get Damien wrong, he was definitely doing well to contain this negative feeling but he still wanted closure on why he was feeling this way in the first place.
At least he knew the reason why he felt jealous. It was because of Julia which made no sense to Damien. How could he possibly be jealous of someone like her? Unlike him, she was not a nice person.
Was it because of how popular she was? ThThat definitely wasn't it, Damien had a good social standing with the rest of the school and had great friends like Priya, Millie, and Zee so that can't be the reason and it definitely wasn't because of how many followers she had because Damien wasn't one to care about internet fame.
As Damien walked to his locker trying to figure it out, soon his thoughts were broken by a familiar snarky voice.
"Well this is quite surprising. You're usually here earlier than I am." A girl with a beanie smirked at the science nerd.
"Relax MK, I just woke up late." Damien shrugged as he began opening his locker and began getting his stuff ready for the day. MK and him didn't get along at first when assigned as locker neighbors but once MK started getting help for her pickpocketing habits and opened up more, it didn't take too long for them to start getting along.
"So did you hear the news? Apparently Chase and Emma got back together again." MK rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"What?! I thought for sure Emma was done with him this time!" Damien said in shock that Emma would go back to her toxic relationship with her YouTuber ex-boyfriend, especially after he cut her car brakes for a prank.
"I thought so too but apparently she still hasn't learned her lesson after Chase said he wanted to legally change her name to 'Chase's girlfriend'." MK sighed solemnly, "I can't help but feel bad for her though."
"Never thought I'd hear you say that about anyone." Damien said with a joking smile.
"I'm snarky, not incapable of empathy." MK smirked back.
"Fair enough." Damien shrugged before asking, "So do you have any plans this week or are you just gonna be gaming after school the whole time?"
"While the latter is so tempting, I actually do have plans for once." MK admitted with a fond smirk.
"What?! Really?!" Damien asked in shock but when seeing MK's raised eyebrow he quickly composed himself, "Sorry, I'm just surprised. What do you have plans to do?"
"She's going to see the aquarium with me." Julia said from behind Damien much to his shock. She had a smirk on her face but for some odd reason, Damien felt that this smirk was pointed towards him.
"How'd you get MK to agree to it?" Damien asked curiously.
"I just asked. Simple as that." Julia shrugged dismissively.
"Yeah, I figured that I should probably start being more social and figured Julia was cool so why not." MK admitted nonchalantly.
"Awwwwwww, thanks girlfriend." Julia cooed dramatically causing MK to chuckle.
There was that odd jealous feeling again, but this time when Damien thought about it, the subject of his jealousy seemed to be involved with MK. How was this possible? Well… maybe it could be that it was so easy for Julia to get MK to socialize compared to him. Yeah, that had to be it but still, shouldn't Damien at least be a little happy for MK? It was clear Julia was MK's friend and Julia seemed to treat her well so what gives?
That's when it hit Damien. Oh no, it couldn't be that, could it?
"Well I got everything I need for class." MK said happily, "See you guys later."
"See ya MK." Julia waved excitedly before MK walked off, leaving Julia and Damien alone.
"Looks like you're really fond of her, huh?" Julia asked with the same trademark smirk she always wore.
"You mean MK? Of course I'm fond of her. We're friends after all." Damien smiled nervously at the influencer.
"Hmmmm, sure." Julia rolled her eyes before glaring at him, "Look. I'm sure we both know how we really feel about MK, and while I don't like you, she means a lot to me so for her sake, I'll let things play out but if you attempt to sabotage our friendship, you will regret it."
Julia then walked off leaving Damien in shock. Not just about Julia figuring out he had feelings for MK but the fact he even had these feelings for MK in the first place. In a way it did make sense to him, but he still couldn't believe it. Either way, he knew he would stay out of MK and Julia's way, not because Julia told him to, but because MK's happiness mattered most to him, even if it made him really jealous.
