Chapter 1 - Hospital and the journey through Viridian Forest
Author's Notes
Silver - Thank you everyone for the support in this story, I use a mix of the episodes, Bulbapedia and serebii dot net to get the information. I promise you that Ashleigh will be taking the journey slow, I will be including dates with the year setting as 2019 as that is the year I first met Loki who really wants to whack me again for starting another story, but she can not seeing as she is in Sydney and I am in Melbourne. This is a long chapter, hope you all enjoy it.

Viridian Pokémon Center
Viridian City, Kanto
3rd of Feb, 2019 - 10pm
Misty sat in the lobby for an hour, awaiting news on the Ash and Pikachu. Misty had seen the massive combination of a Pokemon electric attack mixed with the lightning from the sky, she felt the electric traces in the air as she got closer to where her cheap bike laid burnt to a crisp.
"Miss..." Misty looked up to Nurse Joy "your friend is in the recovery room, you can go and sit with her if you like" Nurse Joy stated before hurrying into another area, where Misty had no doubt Pikachu was being healed.
Misty went to the recovery room, feeling slightly off and hoping that Ashleigh was alright.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
"Come in" Ashleigh called out before coughing a bit as Misty peaked in and saw Ashleigh sitting up on the bed.
"How are you feeling?" Misty asked walking over to her and sitting in the chair.
"Better, still sore but that... that is too be expected... Chansey is going to use another Heal Pulse on me in another hour and then Nurse Joy wants me to sleep till morning" Ashleigh explained and Misty nodded.
"At least you have are being a better patient than what my sisters are, they... they are not the best with manners always whining" Misty stated with a smile and Ashleigh looked at her.
"I know you are one of the Cerulean Gym leaders, I did my research on the everyone... well the surface things" Ashleigh admitted and Misty smiled softly at her.
"At least you did your research, I remember one trainer from last year came to the gym and used a Caterpie against my sister Daisy's seel, which failed and then argued saying that Daisy cheated" Misty replied and Ashleigh raised an eyebrow.
"That trainer did not train... did he? Cause Caterpie and Weedle evolve fast... if I remember my research right it takes about 2 weeks for the two fully evolve" Ashleigh replied with a small bite of her bottom lip.
"I really wouldn't know, I do not like Bug type Pokemon, I also hate carrots and peppers... what about you?" Misty asked looking curiously at the girl.
"I love all types of Pokemon, but I hate pickles and Lemons" Ashleigh replied and Misty nodded.
"I hate sore things as well..." Misty glanced up to the clock "you better get some sleep, I will be around in the morning to check in on you" Misty stated and Ashleigh nodded.
"Thank you again for helping Pikachu and I... sleep well" Ashleigh stated and Misty got up and left the room as Ashleigh got the bed down and slowly fell asleep.
Pokemon Center
Viridian City, Kanto
4th of Feb, 2019
8am
Ashleigh woke to soft humming and she rubbed her eyes to see a Chansey using a soft pink light over Pikachu, who was still sleeping and was also connected to a strange machine that was pulsing light. Ashleigh wondered when Pikachu arrived in her room, when her door opened and she saw Nurse Joy smiling at her.
"Good morning Ashleigh, how are you feeling?" Nurse Joy asked seeing that she was awake.
"I feel alright, thank you for healing me" Ashleigh replied and Nurse Joy smiled at her.
"It was Chansey, she used Heal Pulse to help your body heal a bit faster" Nurse Joy replied nodding her head to Chansey who came to stand next to Nurse Joy.
"Morning Chansey, thank you for caring Pikachu and I... how is he?" Ashleigh asked and Nurse Joy walked over to Pikachu's bed.
"Pikachu will wake up soon, but I will not be releasing you for at least another 2 hours, just to make sure that you are healed up and can make the journey to Pewter City" Nurse Joy stated firmly walking over to her and checking the heart rate machine as Ashleigh bit her lip.
"You... you didn't call anyone, did you?" Ashleigh asked softly as Nurse Joy wrote down her vitals.
"It is my job to report if a trainer is hurt, your mother will be arriving in the next 10 minutes" Nurse Joy stated and Ashleigh looked down.
"She won't let me continue on my journey, she will want me to remain home" Ashleigh whispered and Nurse Joy looked at her with kind eyes.
"Sweetie, you don't know that... it is a parent's right to worry about their children and you were badly injured in a Pokemon Attack... you have to take it easy... when you are released take your time in doing the gym battles, train your Pokemon and get to know... plus it does not hurt to study the gyms in advance" Nurse Joy stated calmly and Ashleigh bit her bottom lip.
"Right, thank you... where is Misty?" Ashleigh asked and Nurse Joy smiled.
"Just in the dinning hall having Breakfast" Joy informed Ashleigh and just then her room door opened and there stood her mother.
"Ashleigh, you really scared me when I got the call that you landed in hospital the first day" Delia said rushing over to Ashleigh's bedside and kissing her forehead.
"I will be fine, mum... I promise..." Ashleigh said and Delia sighed as Nurse Joy slipped out of the room.
"But still a Pokemon journey is long and can be dangerous... are you truly feeling ready?" Delia asked with a bite to her bottom lip and Ashleigh clenched her hands on her blankets and took a deep breath.
"I am ready... what happened is not going to stop me nor will it stop me from loving Pokemon... Pikachu saved my life..." Pikachu had woken up and Ashleigh smiled at him "I swear that I will train myself and my Pokemon to face whatever comes our way" Ashleigh stated and Delia gave a small sigh before nodding.
"Very well, but please call me at each town or city or email me your plans... I met the younger trainer that helped you get here and she has a good head on her shoulders... it does not hurt to ask her if she wants to join you on your journey... it would ease some of my worry" Delia stated and Ashleigh smiled at her.
"I will ask her, also... could you do me a favour and look for one of the best bikes that are currently on sale, she gave me her bike to try and get away from the Spearows, but the storm destroyed it... also create the savings account so I can put some of whatever money I win in battles towards it" Ashleigh said and Delia beamed at her.
"Of course, dear... I best head off back home and get that sorted... please be safe and let me know what your plans are once you are released from here... I will be back home by that time and knowing you, you will have finalize your plans" Delia stated and kissed Ashleigh's forehead before leaving the world.
"Your mother is so nice" Pikachu said and Ashleigh looked over in shock.
"I can understand you, Pikachu... I thought it was a dream" Ashleigh whispered with shock in her eyes looking to the yellow mouse and Pikachu looked back with the same about of same amount of shock reflecting in his eyes.
"Do you have any psychics in your family? Could you always understand me?" Pikachu asked tilting his head and Ashleigh frowned.
"Not that I know of... " Ashleigh saw a shadow coming towards her room and she looked at Pikachu "we can chat about it later, I don't want anyone to know just yet" Ashleigh replied and Pikachu looked confused as to why she did not people to know, but he nodded in agreement.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
Ashleigh looked over and saw Misty there with her backpack.
"Morning Misty, I was just about to call Nurse Joy to see where my backpack was" Ashleigh told her and Pikachu waved at the red headed trainer.
"I actually forgot to give it to your mum, when she first arrived" Misty stated with an embarrassed look and Ashleigh smiled.
"That is fine, I still have about another hour or two before I get released... can I ask something..." Misty nodded "would you like to join me on my journey?" Ashleigh said and Misty looked surprised
"Can I ask why?" Misty asked with a tilt of her head.
"I... my mum... she told me about meeting you and telling me that you had a good head on your shoulders and that it is alright to ask for help on the journey" Ashleigh rambled and Misty giggled.
"Sure, I will be happy to join you... my parents always told my sisters and I the same thing... before they died" Misty whispered and Ashleigh looked down thinking how her mother never talked about her father.
Misty handed Ashleigh her bag before turning to greet Pikachu and turn the TV.
The two chatted briefly about Pewter City Gym and what Ashleigh's plans were, while Misty informed Ashleigh about what was happening with the gym leader being the eldest son and Misty's best friend. Misty was not happy at all about Brock's parents disappearing on him and leaving him to care for his 10 younger siblings.
Misty also revealed that she was the fourth Cerulean City Gym Leader, but her sisters were horrible and teasing her about being a runt and the youngest, so she need to leave the gym to go on her own journey to prove her sisters wrong and to become stronger than them.
"I will be right back, I need to go and call Brock to see how he is going" Misty stated and Ashleigh nodded as she pulled out the phone to let the champions know of the latest and see about getting the Spearow flock moved to another area.

TheChosenOne - Morning everyone... so... that was a bit of a bad start of the journey...
DragonMaster - What do you mean? Are you okay? Where are you currently?
TheChosenOne - Currently in Viridian City Pokemon Center due a mix of getting caught in a storm, running from Spearow who were attacking Pikachu and I, who then saved my life with a massive Thunderbolt attack... another trainer named Misty helped me get to an Officer Jenny and I woke up about an hour ago
HistoryExplorer - That is a bad start... DragonMaster, how bad are the Spearow? I have not really come across them here in Sinnoh
DragonMaster - They are very territory driven, I have been alerted by a few trainers about the flock between Professor Oak's Lab and Viridian City, I am sending the request for Rangers to get involved in removing the flock to either Mount Silver Preserve or the Preserve at Mount Hideaway which is West of Pallet Town, both places do not let trainers onto them for the protection that is there for some of the Pokemon
TheChosenOne - I think it would be best to move them to Mount Silver, I just... I just get the feeling they would leave Mount Hideaway and go back to that area
OldWanderingHobo - I agree with the kid, move them to the Johto Region, get the Rangers to tag a GPS to each of them to keep track of them
DragonMaster - Sending the request now, is your Pikachu okay?
TheChosenOne - Pikachu is okay, he is here in the room with me... but something else happened in that mix of storm and attack... but... can I tell you all later once I get my head around it

RisingStar - Also... once you leave the Pokemon Center, take the journey slow... do not rush to battle the gyms, take the time to train and get to know your Pokemon, plus look up the gyms in advance to see what they are
TheChosenOne - Nurse Joy told me the same, so I am looking at the Pewter City Gym, whose leader is meant to be Flint Slate, but Misty told me that it was Brock the eldest son that was the leader, who is looking after his 10 younger siblings... even his mother is not around
DragonMaster - That is not right, it is meant to be Flint, he should be there, he has not requested any time off... I really hate to ask this of you, but could you look into it, TheChosenOne?
TheChosenOne - That is fine with me, Misty does not sound at all that happy with Brock's parents
TheGemFinder - How does Misty know the gym leaders?
TheChosenOne - Oh, she is the fourth Cerulean City Gym Leader, but she wanted to get away from her sisters for they were not at all nice to her, calling her horrible names and she wants to prove herself
DragonMaster - Ask her if she has any badges on her, you could battle her after you battled Brock, but make sure you use a field at a Pokemon Center ask Nurse Joy of either Pewter City or another town to sign off on the battle... I have seen a few reports from witnesses about the treatment Misty had to deal with
TheChosenOne - Asking her now, brb
Ashleigh looked up from the phone and to see that Misty had returned and was now watching the TV patting Pikachu softly who was loving it.
"Misty, do you have any badges from your family's gym? Also how is Brock going?" Ashleigh asked curiously and Misty turned to her with surprise.
"I do..." Misty frowned before her widen and she hit forehead "oh, why did I not think of that? We can have our battle if you like after Brock at Pewter City Pokemon Center..." Ashleigh nodded in agreement "Brock sounded stressed, so... I might not be happy about this... but could you and I go through Viridian Forest to get to Pewter City, I really want to check on Brock as soon as possible... the other way is slightly longer and I really do not like... I don't like Bug type Pokemon" Misty stated and Ashleigh nodded.
"First the idea about the badges came from my support group... I will explain that once we get out of her..." Misty nodded "I was planning on taking Route 2 through the forest and we will travel as fast as we can through the forest" Ashleigh stated and Misty gave a sigh of relief.
"Thank you for suggesting that, I really do not want to go back to the gym, my..." Ashleigh cut her off.
"You do not have to explain, I might be an only child but I have seen how some old friends were treated by their family members for not doing what they want" Ashleigh explained and Misty got up and went over to hug the slightly younger girl.
"Thank you again... and I can keep a secret... whenever you want to tell me more about your support group... tell them thank you from me" Misty whispered before heading back to her spot and Ashleigh went back to the chat.
TheChosenOne - She hit herself on the forehead for not thinking of that, she says thank you for suggesting that (Thumbs up from other users)
HistoryExplorer - When do you get out of the Pokemon Center? I am currently looking at the map that DragonMaster sent me and I want to keep track of your journey.
TheGemFinder, ShowStopper, RisingStar - Oh good idea
OldWanderingHobo - I am currently out on a small trip, but when I return to my home I too will keep track
TheChosenOne - Thank you and later this morning, Misty and I will be taking Route 2 through Viridian Forest... which Misty is not too happy about but she wants to go and check in on Brock, she fears Bug type Pokemon... Question, are there any cute Water/Bug Type Pokemon in your regions?
TheGemFinder - Hoenn has one named Surskit (Sending a picture)
TheChosenOne - I will show Misty once we are on the way, I think she might like seeing that seeing as her gym and family train mainly water type Pokemon, if a Bug type scares her badly
OldWanderingHobo - Before you head into the forest, head to the Pokemart and get some training weights for Pikachu, look up the attack Iron Tail... and as RisingStar said earlier if you take your time getting to Pewter City, you could get Pikachu to have the attack at a good level to take on Brock... before anyone asks, I looked up the website for the Kanto Gym Leaders just before Lance sent the packet about Kanto
ShowStopper - That is a good idea... also are there any Water Type Pokemon in Viridian Forest or along the route, DragonMaster? I sadly have not really looked up what is along the route
DragonMaster - Sadly not, it is mainly Bug type mainly Weedles and Caterpies with their evolutions Beedrill and Butterfree... but there is a flock of Pidgeys that have a few Pidgeottos and the Pidgeot leader... there might be a family group of Scyther, but I have not heard any reports of them being around
HistoryExplorer - Ashleigh, did you catch any of the Spearow that attacked you?
TheChosenOne - Yes, I did, but... but I do not know if I can trust the Pokemon I only caught it cause it was the only one that had been knocked out in the mud once the storm cleared up
OldWanderingHobo - Ask Nurse Joy to give the Spearow a calming potion, hopefully that helps the bird... then you can buy some weights made for Flying types and maybe get Spearow to begin Steel Wing, but please just take your journey slow
DragonMaster - Yes, please take the journey slowly, you have 11 months before the Indigo League begins on the 20th of November
TheChosenOne - I will get the weights and ask Nurse Joy about the calming potion for Spearow... thank you everyone... I need to head off Nurse Joy is about to come into the room, bye for now

Ashleigh turned off the phone before wanting to whack her forehead, she should have sent the photo of Ho-Oh to the Champions to show that the Legendary Pokemon was still watching over the world. Misty was standing by the window watching everything.
"Well, you are all sorted to be released... here is your Spearow, she is all healed up... was there anything else you need before you head off" Nurse Joy asked entering the room with Chansey, who went over to Pikachu and Ashleigh took the Pokeball while Pikachu was unhooked from the machine.
"Would it be possible if you could using a calming potion on Spearow... I caught it as it was the only one that had dropped during the storm" Ashleigh stated and Nurse Joy looked surprised before she nodded.
"Come with me to the front desk and we can get that done" Nurse Joy stated and Ashleigh looked to Pikachu.
"Come on Pikachu, you ready to get out of here" Ashleigh stated and Pikachu nodded.
"Yep" Pikachu replied and jumped onto Ashleigh's shoulder.
"You aren't going to have him in his Pokeball" Misty questioned as the two followed Nurse Joy.
"When Professor Oak gave me him as my starter, he did not want to return to the Pokeball, so he cane travel out with us... is that okay?" Ashleigh asked and Misty smiled.
"That is fine, just surprised that is all... by being out with us, he can become stronger" Misty stated and Pikachu nodded in agreement while Ashleigh was happy.
The two girls arrived at the front desk and Nurse Joy released Spearow who looked angry and was glaring towards everyone.
"How dare you take me from my flock? You attacked us" Spearow growled as she spotted Ashleigh just as Nurse Joy had Chansey use barrier to keep the Spearow contained.
"No, she didn't... one of your flock members was talking about murdering my trainer" Pikachu stated to Ashleigh's shock and Pikachu tapped her neck that he will explain later.
"What? No one would do that" Spearow stated as Nurse Joy applied the calming potion and Ashleigh could see the potion worked fast as the Spearow relaxed.
"How old are you? You sound young for a Spearow" Pikachu asked suddenly frowning just a bit with a tilt of his head.
"I hatched three months ago" Ashleigh gasped softly while Pikachu looked at her with worry while Spearow tilted her head at the gasp.
Before Pikachu could continue talking to his team member, the glass roof was shattered and a Pokemon used a smoke attack causing everyone to cough.
(AN: Not doing the damn motto)
Ashleigh glanced to Pikachu who was sparking his cheeks and had a mad expression on his face.
"Hand over the Pokemon and no one gets hurt" Jessie stated and Ashleigh bit her lip.
"No, we won't... these Pokemon are recovering and would be no use to you" Nurse Joy yelled as Spearow was released from the barrier that Chansey had her in.
Ashleigh decided enough was enough, these people were idiots and wannabe thieves, she glanced to Pikachu and just before she could order an attack, a door opened to revealed multiple Pikachu there and she wondered how the Pikachu knew to come to help.
"Pikachu, thunderbolt" Ashleigh told him and Pikachu smirked as he jumped off her shoulder and together with the multiple Pikachu, the three wannabe thieves and their Pokemon were blasted out of the roof causing that side to fall down.
"Damn Team Rocket" Nurse Joy muttered as Ashleigh and Misty looked to her.
"Who are they?" Misty asked watching as Chansey leave to the recovery room.
"They want to take over the world, make new rules about trainers, about my family and so many things... I only know that much due to a duo killing my older sister here at the center" Nurse Joy explained sadly as Pikachu ran up on Ashleigh's shoulder.
"I am sorry for your loss, I am sorry about destroying part of the center with all the Pikachus" Ashleigh said as Chansey came out rolling a tray of multiple Pokeballs and over to the transfer machine.
"The Pikachus are part of the defense here as well as the back up power if the main power go out" Nurse Joy explained as she typed on the transfer machine and Chansey began putting Pokeballs on the send part before they disappeared,
"Where are you sending the Pokeballs?" Misty asked and Nurse Joy looked at her.
"To my cousin in Pewter City, I have also alerted the G-Men of the attack and hopefully they can find that trio" Nurse Joy explained and Ashleigh nodded in agreement.
"What about the trainers?" Misty asked curiously and Nurse Joy smiled at her.
"Since the death of my older sister, my family and I created a system that alerts all trainers about what happened and where to go for their Pokemon" Nurse Joy explained and Misty nodded.
Ashleigh looked down to the Spearow, who looked at her with a tilt of her head and she glanced to Pikachu with pleading eyes and he nodded. Pikachu jumped down and explained as best as he could about Ashleigh understanding Spearow and why she currently did not want to talk outloud.
"I understand and I also wish to be your Pokemon, you did catch me and got me help when you did not have to" Spearow stated and Ashleigh smiled as she returned Spearow to her Pokeball and Pikachu ran up to her shoulder.
"Ashleigh, I will be right back, I need to go and alert my sisters that I am alright... even though I doubt they would truly care" Misty stated and Ashleigh nodded.
Ashleigh grabbed the phone as she felt it buzz and she saw that there was a message awaiting her.

HistoryExplorer - Wondering that about Team Rocket as well and you should ask him to upgrade it, it would be helpful to your journey
OldWanderingHobo - Are this Team Rocket at all like Team Plasma?
TheChosenOne - Who are Team Plasma? Also I am not sure why DragonMaster had the reaction he did
DragonMaster - Will get back to the question, but for your information... Team Rocket are dangerous, but my G-Men nor the Rangers have not gotten any information on any of their bases and the three that attacked the Pokemon Center have not been found due to being blasted out by a Pokemon.
TheChosenOne - That would be Pikachu's fault,
DragonMaster - Pikachu... your starter cause the Pokemon Center to be destroyed... well partly.
RisingStar - Are Pikachus strong enough to do that?
TheChosenOne - I really don't know how strong a Pikachu can get... I have a theory, but I will need to test it out more
OldWanderingHobo - I reckon if you train Pikachu with different attacks, you will have a powerhouse on your hands... I will be looking over all information on Kanto now

Ashleigh got to her feet and went over to a free video phone and dialed Professor Oak's Lab. Ashleigh wondered if her mother told Professor Oak about her accident.
RING! RING! RING!
"Hello Ashleigh, I was wondering where you got to? What are you currently?" Professor Oak asked and also confirmed Ashleigh's thoughts about her mother not telling Professor Oak.
"Morning Professor Oak, I am currently in Viridian City at the Pokemon Center"
"You took longer than the other trainers, I will admit when you left I had my doubts that you could handle Pikachu..." Ashleigh frowned "Gary actually bet me one million dollars that you would not have a single new Pokemon I took him on it... you did catch a Pokemon right?" Professor Oak asked looking into the camera and Ashleigh glared at him.
"That is a horrible thing to do and I will not tell you anything, as you should not be encouraging Gary to bully me and I am taking my journey slowly, not rushing it" Ashleigh stated and crossing her arms which caused Professor Oak to sigh heavily and rub his eyes.
"I am sorry Ashleigh, you are right, I shouldn't be letting Gary get away with that behavior now... I will tell Gary off cause he should worry about his own journey not yours or the others... I promise you I will do better" Professor Oak stated and Ashleigh smiled.
"Thank you..." Ashleigh paused before sighing "and I got into slight trouble getting here, but I am okay now and I have caught one Pokemon, a Spearow" Ashleigh stated and Professor Oak looked at with a proud expression.
"Congratulations on catching a Spearow... did anything happen?" Professor Oak asked and Ashleigh nodded.
Ashleigh told Professor Oak about the flock, Pikachu saving her life, Misty getting her to the Pokemon Center and staying the night. However she wanted to tell Professor Oak about seeing Ho-Oh, but something stopped her and she decided to listen to it hoping to get an answer soon. She also did not reveal about the group for the same feeling within her.
"You have had quite the start of your journey, just be safe and take your time... what there anything you needed before you continue on?" Professor Oak asked and Ashleigh nodded.
"Could you update my Pokedex to show all known Pokemon up to Kalos, I met a Hoenn Pokemon and I wanted to be ready for anything" Ashleigh stated telling a small white lie and Professor Oak looked surprised.
"Of course I can upgrade your Pokedex, but I will need to send you a national one, it will be waiting for you at Pewter City Pokemon Center" Professor Oak told her and Ashleigh smiled.
"Thank you Professor, I better head off, I will let you know once I get to Pewter City" Ashleigh stated and Professor Oak nodded just as his doorbell rang and he hung up in a hurry.
"You ready to head over the Pokemart, get supplies before... before we head into the forest" Misty said as she walked over to Ashleigh and she nodded.

Ashleigh looked at the Pokemart in awe, she had never been to one and there was so much on offer. Pikachu also was amazed at how big the store was.
"You have never been to a Pokemart before have you" Misty said with a smile and Ashleigh shook her head.
"Never, I know I need to find some weights for small small and weights for flying types, plus food for Flying types and Electric types, then I need a new sleeping bag as well... before finally get a pack of 10 Pokeballs" Ashleigh stated and Misty giggled.
"At least you aren't like my sisters who want to try all the new out of region food, I too will be quick I need to grab some Poke food for water types as well as check the prices of the potions, might be a good idea to stock them" Misty stated and Ashleigh agreed.
"We can meet there, then head off for Pewter City" Ashleigh stated and the two split to get the things they wanted.
Ashleigh wandered down the weight aisle first, she found the Flying type weights and frowned wondering how heavy Spearow was currently, she decided to get weights up to 5kgs for Spearow and then went looking for the weights that would be best suited to Pikachu.
"Get the weight up to 5kgs, my tail is not really strong just yet and once I learn Iron Tail, I would love to work on my speed" Pikachu commented and Ashleigh nodded grabbing the weights.
She grabbed the pack of 10 Pokeballs, then headed to the camping section and found a silver and blue sleeping bag. She headed to the food aisle and grabbed the two bags of food, Pikachu pointing out the favour he preferred having tried three different kinds while under the care of Professor Oak. Ashleigh met up with Misty and stocked up on different potions that would tie them over during the journey through the forest.
The two got to the check outs and soon they were on the way into the forest.

Ashleigh sighed as Misty screamed seeing a Weedle pop out from a bush before crawling away from the two.
"Misty, if you keep screaming you might alert something that could be worst than a Weedle" Ashleigh told her friend softly and Misty took a few deep breaths.
"I know I shouldn't be screaming but I... I can not help it... I just... when I was a younger... about 4 years ago I was visiting Brock, we were playing on the edge of forest and I tripped over a fallen Beedrill and it called for the others and chased Brock and I out, stringing the both of us... I had a bad reaction and since then I have tried to avoid this forest and Beedrill" Misty explained and Ashleigh felt for her.
"I am sorry that happened to you and Brock, but you can tell yourself that you are stronger facing your fears here and now... plus you should know that there is a Pokemon that is both a Bug and Water type"
"Really, what is it? And where is it?" Misty asked surprised and Ashleigh grabbed the phone to pull up Surskit's photo.
"It is called a Surskit, it lives over in Hoenn" Ashleigh explained as Misty cooed softly at the photo.
"Ash... there is a Caterpie coming over to Misty... you should tell her that and also about hearing me talk and the group, tell her I will shock away any an all Beedrills" Pikachu told her and Ashleigh looked down to see the Caterpie, but she gasped in surprise as it was a shiny Caterpie that was coloured yellow.
Ashleigh wondered how to bring up the talk about the group, about hearing all Pokemon talk like humans and about the rare Caterpie.
"Misty before you freak out, just know I am here as is Pikachu, who will shock away any Beedrill..." Misty froze and looked towards Ashleigh.
"Why are you telling me this?" Misty asked and Ashleigh held up her hand.
"Just keep calm... there is a super rare Caterpie just near your right leg and he looks like he wants to be your Pokemon" Ashleigh stated and Misty frowned before looking down slowly.
"What do Caterpie evolve into again?" Misty asked in a forced calm tone and Ashleigh smiled at her.
"Their final form are Butterfree, they can be help a trainer feel a sense of peace" Ashleigh told her remembering what an old woman told her when she was 6 years old.
"Who told you that?" Misty asked as she relaxed her tone again keeping her eyes on the Caterpie.
"An old woman from when I was six years old, I met her on a trip to the Orange Islands, I can not remember where she said she was from only that it was a long journey" Ashleigh told her and Misty bit her lip before bending down to look at the Caterpie.
"You are very sweet, aren't you?" Misty said softly and Caterpie nodded.
"I would love that" Caterpie said and Pikachu looked to Ashleigh.
"Ash, can you hear Caterpie?" Ash nodded and bit her lip "Tell Misty, it is the perfect time to do it" Pikachu stated jumping down to the ground.
"Misty, you remember how you found Pikachu and I after the storm" Ashleigh was nervous about losing Misty as a friend and she prayed the Misty believed her.
"Yeah" Misty replied while looking to Ashleigh with curious eyes.
"Well, somehow during the mix of thunder from Pikachu and the storm, I now can understand Pokemon... they sound English to me" Ashleigh revealed looking down biting her lip and Misty looked surprised.
"Really, so you can hear Pikachu and Caterpie" Misty had the sound of disbelief in her tone and Pikachu frowned before running over to Misty and pointing to her bag.
"Tell her to release her oldest Pokemon, one that knows things that you wouldn't know" Pikachu stated and Misty looked to her bag.
"He wants you to release one of your Pokemon, one that you have had the longest" Ashleigh replied and Misty frowned before she nodded and she released a Starmie.
"Who gifted him to me? And how he saved my life?" Misty said as she sat on the ground looking towards Caterpie.
"What does Misty mean by that?" Starmie asked looking to his trainer, but what surprised Ashleigh was his voice was more in her mind as well.
"I can speak to Pokemon due to an accident between Pikachu's Thunder and a storm" Ashleigh stated and Pikachu walked over to the starfish Pokemon.
"Huh, you can understand me... her father gifted me to her when she was 7 years old and I saved her life from Nidoking" Starmie answered and Ashleigh realised that his voice was truly more within her mind.
"Does Starmie know Psychic?" Ashleigh asked and Misty nodded.
"He does, you can hear him in your mind... I thought that the connection was just between him and I" Misty commented and Ashleigh smiled.
"It is a mix, I can hear his voice as an echo, it is a very strange feeling... but to your questions you got him as gift from your father and he saved you from a Nidoking" Ashleigh answered and Misty looked surprised before she smiled.
"I believe you about the gift, Starmie can sense something extra about you" Misty replied and she looked to Caterpie.
"You truly should catch him, even if you can't use him in gym battles he can help you on the journey" Ashleigh stated and Misty nodded.
"Alright, I will catch him..." Misty grabbed a spare Pokeball from her backpack "there will always be Bug types that I will not be a fan of but I know once I take up the full time Gym Leader of Cerulean City, there will be trainers with all different types of Bug types" Misty reasoned and Ashleigh nodded in agreement.
Ashleigh watched as Misty caught Caterpie, then she decided to let the champions know about her gift and also to alert them that she was telling Misty about the group and to ask their permission to tell her who is who.

TheChosenOne - Misty and I are about 2 hours into the Viridian Forest, I got Misty to face her faces about Bug types and told her to catch the rare shiny Caterpie

TheChosenOne - shiny Caterpie are yellow and if I remember right the Butterfree are purple with pink hands and feet

TheChosenOne - Somehow during the mix of Thunder from Pikachu and the storm that was happening, I somehow got the gift of understanding Pokemon talking using actual words and not just different forms of their names
HistoryExplorer - That is curious, I can look into it for you, do you have any Psychics in your family?
DragonMaster - Or know of any other gifts in your family?
TheChosenOne - My mum never talks about my father nor either of their parents, only told me that we are just sadly normal people... but I just feel like she is hiding something from me, when she came to see me in the hospital... I just felt she wanted to tell me something but decided against it
OldWanderingHobo - Let your mother tell you whatever it is in her own time, it might be hurtful to her remembering something in the past
TheChosenOne - I won't bother her about it... also will it be alright if I tell Misty about the group and who you are... just in case something happens during my journey

Ashleigh put the phone away and took a deep breath.
"You know how I mentioned the group that told me about the idea about the badges..." Misty nodded "well, I asked them if it was alright to tell who who they were and how the group was formed" Ashleigh stated and Misty tilted her head.
"Go on" Misty replied as Pikachu looked between the two girls.
"It has six regional champions in it, we were given these phones via Mew and it is all about helping me and guiding me on my journey" Ashleigh explained and Misty looked surprised.
"That is amazing, who are the regional champions I only know of Lance, who is the champion for Kanto and Johto" Misty replied and Ashleigh pulled out the phone to show her who is who.
"Hoenn has two champions, one is Steven Stone who is the main league trainer, he trains Steel Type Pokemon..." Ashleigh explained showing Steven's photo and Misty looked surprised that he looked like he was near Brock's age, who was 15 years old.
"Steel Type, I did not realise there were other types out there" Misty said with shock and Ashleigh smiled at her.
"Yep, there are 18 types of Pokemon... there are only 2 Steel type Pokemon here in Kanto and that is the Magnemite and Magneton, are also part Electric types" Ashleigh explained and Misty looked at her amazed before nodding.
"What are the other two types?" Misty asked curiously and Ashleigh looked at the phone and typed in the other two types.
"There are no Dark Types normally found in Kanto and the final one is Fairy type" Ashleigh told Misty and Misty got stars in her eyes.
"Fairy type? They sound amazing" Misty whispered and Ashleigh nodded reading about Fairy types.
"They are actually, many Kanto Pokemon that were thought to be just one type can be classed as Fairy Type, Kanto Pokemon like Clefairy evolutionary line as wel as Mime Jr and Mr Mime" Ashleigh explained and Misty looked amazed.
"Any Fairy and Water mix Pokemon?" Misty asked praying there was at least one and Ashleigh looked it up.
"Yep, there is a Johto Pokemon that is the mix" Ashleigh explained looking at the Johto region and she showed Misty the phone and she gasped.
"Oh, I love Marills, I did not know they had another early form, oh I would love to catch one" Misty revealed and Ashleigh nodded in agreement.
"You might be able to, you never know what we will come across" Ashleigh stated and Misty nodded in agreement.
"Sorry for getting off topic, you were telling me about the other champion of Hoenn and who else is in the group" Misty stated as Ashleigh looked around them.
"Let's walk and talk while we get out of the forest before anything unpleasant comes up to us just sitting here" Ashleigh stated and Misty nodded.
"I agree, let's get out of here" Misty stated and just as the two begun to walk, Ashleigh remembered about the weights.
"Hang on, let me just get weights on Pikachu and Spearow"
"Do I have to now?" Pikachu groaned and Ashleigh looked to him.
"Yes, don't you want to surprise people by knowing Iron Tail now" Ashleigh replied as she released Spearow.
"What is going on?" Spearow asked tilting her head and Ashleigh smiled at her.
"I brought some weights that can help learn Steel Wing and maybe speeding up your flying, while for Pikachu pretty much the same only just Iron Tail" Ashleigh explained as she grabbed the weights.
"Could you put the 1kg on me please, I know I can handle it" Spearow requested and Ashleigh looked to the bird in surprise.
"Are you 100% sure?" Spearow nodded "alright then, here you go" Ashleigh put the requested weights on Spearow's feet
"You know for a trainer that only truly begun yesterday I can see how much you care for Pokemon" Misty commented as Spearow began slowly walking while flapping her wings, then shaking her head and simply walked forward even if it was slow steps so she could get use to the weights.
"My mum always told me to treat Pokemon with respect and kindness" Ashleigh replied as she tied the 500 gram weight on Pikachu's tail.
"My parents were the same, my sisters love our Pokemon that we have at the gym, but they truly do not like battling at all wanting to travel... I got them to agree to wait till I got stronger and I would only take over once I turn 15, so I have 3 years before then" Misty explained as she watched Pikachu try to lift his tail before pouting but then nodded and got walking.
"So going back to our talk about the group chat, the other Hoenn Champion is Wallace is the top Coordinator, he trains your favourite type" Ashleigh said with a grin as the two walked by a place that gave Ashleigh the creeps.
"Really, do you know what Water Pokemon he has?" Misty asked and Ashleigh showed Wallace's Milotic.
"I only know he has a Milotic" Ashleigh answered and Misty cooed seeing the stunning sea snake.
"Truly stunning" Misty whispered and Ashleigh nodded.
"The other three champions in the chat are all trainers of various types, Cynthia from the Sinnoh Region, Alder from Unova and finally Diantha from Kalos" Ashleigh explained and Misty frowned.
"I know the name Diantha... why do I know that name?" Misty muttered to herself as Ashleigh saw Spearow get a foot off the ground before falling.
"I know I can do this, I will do this and become stronger than any Spearow or Fearow" Ashleigh heard Spearow mutter as she begun walking again.
"I know we can be the best of our species and Ash will help us get there" Pikachu stated and Spearow nodded in agreement.
"Let's make a pact, we become stronger together and we look after Ash from any and all perverts, from any one that want to hurt her" Spearow stated and Ashleigh felt she should not be listening to this and turned to look at Misty.
"Diantha is an actress as well as being a champion of Kalos she even holds the title of Grand Duchess at the Battle Chateau" Ashleigh replied as she watched her two Pokemon begin a light jog but never going to far from where she and Misty were,
"I thought I knew that name, she is amazing... but what is the Battle Chateau? Is that like being a Coordinator?" Misty asked and Ashleigh shrugged.
"I have not really asked her, I will be asking now" Ashleigh replied and Misty nodded.
"Ash, we are nearly at the edge of the forest" Spearow called out and Ash looked over in shock.
"Misty, we did it... we got through the forest" Ash whispered as the two exited the tree line and saw the Pewter City glittering in the afternoon sun.
"I still can not believe I caught a Bug type Pokemon, but you are right... he will be good to have on the journey" Misty whispered and the two smiled at each other.
Ashleigh then heard a hum in the distance and she looked around as Misty pulled out Caterpie's Pokeball and was whispering to the contained Pokemon. The hum was coming from Mt Moon's direction and Ashleigh frowned which got her two Pokemon's attention.
"Ash, is something wrong?" Pikachu asked her running over to her with Spearow just behind him.
"There is... there is something calling out to me from the direction of Mt Moon... but I do not know what it is" Ashleigh replied and Misty looked to her with concern.
"We will be alright, our Pokemon can keep us safe" Misty stated and Ashleigh nodded.
"Right..." Ashleigh replied feeling the echo of the calling pulling at her and she shook her head and started walking with Misty at her side towards the Pewter City Pokemon Center.
Silver - Hope you all enjoyed this chapter. I decided to avoid Samurai as I found him annoying as well as the events surrounding the episode. So next chapter will be exploring Pewter City, the gym battle and the answer on what is calling to Ashleigh from Mt Moon. Also even though Ashleigh is currently 10 years old, I have decided the pairing and it will be an OC who will be based on an anime character that is one of my favourite characters. He will not show up till Battle Frontier.
