A/N:- This is a NaruSaku Oneshot. I'll talk about it more at the end of this story, like, how did I get the idea? I said that because this concept is pretty new and unique. You guys might also find this pretty weird but, this story will be like breath of fresh air. I am sure that there isn't any NaruSaku fanfictions like this in the platform. Well, their relationship will be more like that of brother and sister.

Also, there will be slight NaruIno, and that won't be anything like your usual romantic stuffs.

Just because someone we love dies, it doesn't mean they're gone. We still have all the memories of them, and we still love them.

Naruto never knew what love was, he was foreign to the concept of feelings and affections. Since his childhood, he was ostracised by his villagers. He was treated like a garbage at the orphanage, the caretakers used to lock up him at a room, and didn't even give a shit about his wellness. He ran away from the orphanage at the age of 5, and used to roam around the village aimlessly, sleep at the streets, begged for food outside shops. The people didn't care about him, he was treated like a scumbag. Life took a wild turn for him when he met the Third Hokage. He looked after Naruto, just like he did with his own grandson. The old man gave him an apartment to live, monthly allowances for groceries and clothings, and used to talk to Naruto whenever he could. Naruto could feel the warm feeling of affection for the first time. He felt happier, he felt accepted. Slowly, he came to meet Teuchi, the owner of Ichiraku Ramen and his daughter, Ayame. Both of them took a liking to the blonde haired kid and offered him to have ramen at their shop, when no other shop would allow him to enter.

Things began to change slowly. The third Hokage, Teuchi, Ayame became Naruto's family. He was no longer lonely, he had people who care about him. When he entered the academy, he met his teacher Iruka, who also didn't hate him like the other villagers. Iruka would take Naruto at Ichiraku's and also used to train him whenever he got some time off.

Years passed, Naruto is a chunin now. A lot of things happened in between. He passed the academy graduation exam at 12, learned about the Kyuubi from Mizuki, got in a team with Uchiha Sasuke and Sakura Haruno with Kakashi Hatake as their jounin, the wave mission, chunin exams, the Konoha Crush, his beloved jiji's death, arrival of Tsunade Senju, Sasuke's betrayal, the final fight, Naruto's training period, rescuing Gaara, meeting Sasuke, Asuma's death.

Naruto had changed a lot, he was the strongest shinobi amongst his peers. He was a toad sage and was trained under Jiraya, his godfather. He was a master in fuinjutsu and had been extraordinary with Fuuton, Katon and doton jutsus. Also, he was able to befriend the Kyuubi, whose actual name was Kurama.

"Naruto." He heard Jiraya calling him as he got up from his current seat and walked out of the waterfall. He was at Mount Myoboku at that time, training to be a perfect sage.

"What is it, Ero-sennin?" Naruto asked, he eyes noticing the scroll that Jiraya was holding.

"I have some bad news for you, Naruto." Jiraya replied, his expression showing a pang of sadness as he handed Naruto the scroll.

Naruto felt quite uneasy when he heard that it was a bad news. For the past few days, he didn't knew why but, he had a feeling that something was wrong. He was reluctant to open the scroll at first, but when Jiraya looked at him with a tired expression, Naruto let out a huff and opened the scroll.

That's when, the world turned upside down for him….

His eyes widened as he kept on reading the contents written in the scroll. He started shaking, his hands were trembling. Small drops of tears started to fall from his eyes as he kept reading the message in the scroll.

'Poor Boy. He didn't deserve this….' Jiraya thought sadly as Naruto looked as him. Jiraya felt a sharp pain at his chest as he looked into Naruto's eyes. They were full of disbelief, sadness, heartbreak, each and every sad emotion one can imagine of.

"I-Is Baa-chan j-joking?" Naruto managed to stammer, as he tried to supress his emotional outburst.

"Not at all, Naruto. C'mon, we have to go to Konoha as soon as possible."

Naruto didn't say a single word. He lowered his head down, trying to control the tears that were coming out of his eyes. Both Sensei and student formed a hand-seal as they disappeared in a poof of smoke.

Upon reaching Konoha, Naruto rushed towards the hospital as fast as he could, with a worried Jiraya running behind him, shouting at him to slow down. The villagers were startled at the sight of the blonde young sage running towards the hospital with the Sannin following him.

Well, Naruto did win the heart and trust of his villagers by his actions during the Konoha Crush, when he protected the village from the Shukaaku. Upon seeing Naruto panicked, they hoped that everything was ok. After all, the villagers were used to Naruto's happy and cheerful demeanour, and rarely saw the blonde hero in a troubled state.

As soon as they entered the hospital, the receptionist quickly received them and took them towards a secluded corridor of the hospital, where the morgue was situated. Every step that Naruto took towards the place, his heart beat started to increase. In front of the door that led to the morgue, Tsunade was standing. Alongside her, there were also few other people. Naruto could recognise them. Inoichi Yamanaka, Tsubaki Yamanaka, Kizashi Haruno, Mebuki Haruno. Tsubaki and Mebuki were crying as their husbands were comforting them. Naruto's heart broke into thousand pieces as he saw the sight. But, he knew that, what he was going to see, will break his heart into millions of pieces, destroying it completely…..

"Naruto, you are here…" Tsunade said as all of them looked up towards Naruto, who was standing in front of the Hokage, while Jiraya was standing behind him.

"B-baa ch-chan?" Naruto managed to speak out, as everyone could feel the pain in his voice. Tsubaki and Mebuki enveloped Naruto in a hug as Naruto just starred at the ceiling, still in disbelief about the situation.

"Come in, Naruto…" Tsunade said as Mebuki and Tsubaki moved a bit back as Tsunade held Naruto by his shoulder. She was deeply saddened by the condition of Naruto after he got the news. Naruto, who was like her own sun, was going through a lot.

"Life of a shinobi is unpredictable, Naruto….You.." Tsunade tried to explain but Naruto couldn't say anything. He looked at his mother-figure as he stammered, "P-please, tak-e me to t-them…" he tried to control his tears as Inoichi ruffled Naruto's hair.

Tsunade led him and Jiraya inside the morgue as they passed through dozens of dead bodies that were lying in the stretchers, covered in white-nilon blanket. After a while, she stood in front of a body, lying in the similar manner in a stretcher. Sakura, Naruto's best friend and teammate stood alongside the bed. As soon as she saw Naruto, she went to her best friend and held him slowly, trying to balance him. She was heartbroken at the sight of him. He was devastated.

"S-sakura…." Naruto managed to say as she hugged him and rested her head on his chest.

"N-naruto.." She said in a teary tone as Naruto looked towards the body lying in front of him.

He could see the hint of blonde hair that were below the blanket. He had no energy to stand, as he fell down on his knees, in front of the body. Sakura held him, to ensure that he doesn't fall.

Tsunade took of the blanket from the top of the body, revealing the person as Naruto started hyperventilating at the sight. He slowly moved closer to the person as he held her head by his both hands.

"I-Ino-ch-chan…"

That was Naruto's breaking point. He couldn't hold his tears any longer. He cried. He cried like a baby. Cried at the sight of the love of his life, lying at the bed, lifeless. She had a peaceful expression in her face. Naruto kept crying as his tears drops fell on her face.

'Naruto….' Sakura, Jiraya and Tsunade thought as they saw the heart-breaking sight. It reminded Tsunade of the time when Dan had died. She could feel how much Naruto was in Pain.

He kept crying while repeatedly saying Ino's name.

"Pl-please wake up! Wake up from me, I-Ino-chan!" Naruto kept crying as he placed his head on her forhead.

"What will I do without you? You are my l-life!"

"Naruto…." Sakura placed her hands on his shoulders as Naruto kept crying.

"How did t-this happen?!" Naruto managed to say as he tried to stop his crying for a while. But he just couldn't bear to see her like that. She wasn't replying to him, wasn't teasing or taunting him, like she usually did.

"A-A failed mission, Naruto. She got stuck during the crossfire and received a few fatal blows. She died while being rushed to the hospital…" Tsunade said as she looked towards Jiraya. Both of them were concerned about Naruto. Sakura was comforting Naruto as he was trying to digest everything which Tsunade had said.

Naruto sat on the floor with a thud sound as Sakura quickly tried to hold him, so that he doesn't hurt himself. He just starred at the bed, where his love was lying peacefully.

"Naruto, I-I know it hurts a lot. She's my best friend after all. But, the profession we choose is all about killing or getting killed." Sakura said as she wrapped her arms around Naruto's neck and placed her head on his shoulder, tears coming out of her eyes too.

He looked at the ground as tears were still flowing out of his eyes. Tsunade and Jiraya knelt down next to Naruto as they comforted him.

Naruto couldn't sleep that night. Everytime he closed his eyes, the image of Ino, smilling at him, appears as he starts to cry again and again.

The Funeral took place at the Konoha Graveyard. Rest of the Yamanaka Family and Konoha 11, alongwith Jounins like Might Gai, Kurenai, Kakashi, Ebisu etc. were present. Naruto stood alongside the Yamanakas in the funeral attire, the framed picture of his love Ino in his hand.

He witnessed the entire process of burying the casket on the ground as the place was filled with soil and a Gravestone was placed on top of the soil, beneath which, the casket was situated.

Naruto held back his tears as Sakura wrapped her hand around his arm, resting her head on his shoulder as she cried silently. Shikamaru and Choji looked at the grave, where their comrade was resting. Kiba, Hinata, Shino, Neji, Tenten, Lee just starred at the ground. Tsubaki was crying as Mebuki was comforting her. Inoichi just looked at the sky, praying for his daughter's soul to be in peace.

After everyone prayed silently, Shikamaru walked towards Naruto, who was currently held by Sakura. He was sad to see that the death of Ino affected the troublesome blonde idiot that much.

"Naruto, I am really sorry. I failed to protect Ino…"

"I-"

Naruto just starred at the grave. He couldn't say anything to Shikamaru.

"Before Ino passed away, she wanted me to say something to you."

Naruto slowly looked at Shikamaru, who was shocked to see Naruto's face. The bags under his eyes clearly showed the lack of sleep.

"Ino said that even after she dies, you mustn't cry in front of her grave. She isn't there. The people whom you love will always sit beside you, that includes her too.."

It was evening. Naruto was sitting at the bed of his apartment, starring at the blanket as he was thinking about Ino. Sakura was preparing some food for themselves in the kitchen.

"Sakura, don't you think it's better for you to go home now? Your parents will be worried, y'know?" He asked weakly as he slowly looked towards Sakura, who was currently chopping vegetables.

"No you idiot. I will be staying with you for the next few days." She replied, while she added the chopped vegetables to a pot of water.

"Why, Sakura?"

"You are not in the best mood, I know. But, there should be someone to take care of you, right?" Sakura said as she looked towards Naruto and tried to smile a bit. Naruto just turned towards the floor as he slowly got up from the bed. He walked up to a table where a lot of scrolls and books were lying. From the pile of books, he pulled out a photo album.

"What is this?" Sakura asked as she walked from the kitchen and stood behind Naruto.

"My Photo Album." He replied as he opened it and showed Sakura some photos of him, the Konoha 11, Team 7, and some more memorable pictures.

"Nostalgic, right?" Sakura asked as he opened the picture where a younger Sakura and Naruto were sitting in front of tent in the middle of a snowy field. She pointed at another picture where Naruto and Sakura were trying to catch fishes as Tsunade was yelling at Jiraya at the background.

"It is…" Naruto said as his eyes fell on another picture. A younger Ino was standing alongside Naruto, as they smiled at the camera.

Naruto started to tear up as the droplets fell on the ground.

"W-Why did she leave me?" Naruto spoke, the hint of sadness in his voice.

"She is always with you, Naruto. It will only make her soul unhappy if she sees you like that…" Naruto said as she placed her hand on his shoulder while he wiped of the tears from his eyes.

"Y'know…" Naruto began as he placed the photo album back at the table and picked up a pack of smokes from the drawer next to the table. "L-let's go to the balcony, Sakura?"

She nodded as both of them walked to the balcony and stood there for quite some time. The sky was full of stars, the moon wasn't shining that brightly as usual. Naruto took out a cigarette from the pack and placed it on his mouth as Sakura also took out another one from his pack.

"I-I don't honestly know how to explain this…" He said as he inhaled in the smoke from the cigarette as Sakura looked at him while lighting her ones.

"What, Naruto?" She asked, slightly concerned about him as he replied.

"Her voice. That sweet voice of hers when she used to call me. That sweet way in which she greeted me when I used to enter her flower shops. How can I forget them? It just pains so much…." Naruto said as he looked over the village of Konoha as Sakura let out a stream of smoke from her mouth.

"I can feel you, y'know?" Sakura said as Naruto huffed.

"I just want to die, so that I can be with her in the afterlife."

That statement enraged Sakura as she snapped at Naruto instantly, causing him to startle as well.

"Shut up, you idiot! Do you think that it will make her happy? What will happen to the people who love you? Look at me, Tsunade-sama, Jiraya-sama, Kakashi-sensei, Iruka-sensei, Teuchi-san, Ayame-san, the rest of Konoha 11, the sand siblings! What will happen to us?"

Naruto had no answer. He just looked at the ground as he placed his cigarette in the ashtray. Sakura held Naruto's shoulders with her hands as he looked into her eyes

"Weren't you the one who used to shout out the whole day that you won't die before you become the Hokage?"

"I-I don't know…." Naruto said as he looked down again. Sakura placed her cigarette at the ashtray as she hugged Naruto all of a sudden, which got Naruto flinched a bit.

"Don't even think about dying, or even killing yourself, you idiot."

Naruto wanted a detox. Thus, Tsunade exempted him from taking part in missions, so that the mental scar he received after the death of Ino could be healed. Sakura looked after him whenever she took her day off from the works at Hospitals. He used to spend his time strolling around Konoha, or going to Ino's grave or the Yamanaka Flower Shop.

"Welcome Naruto-kun." Tsubaki said as the blonde sage entered the shop. Surely, he missed that cheerful tone of Ino who used to greet him whenever he entered the shop, and, as a few minutes passed, she used to tease him. Good ol' days….

"Came to pick some red roses for her, Tsubaki-san." Naruto said as he smiled warmly.

"I understand, Naruto-kun. Let me prepare the bouquet for you." She said as she walked back to prepare a bouquet with fresh red roses and handed it to him.

"I take my leave then…See you later, Tsubaki-san." Naruto said as he turned back and started to walk away. Suddenly, he stood just at the entrance of the shop as he saw the picture of Ino kept alongside a bunch of fresh flowers. Tears started to form in his eyes as he said, "See you Later, Ino…"

Tsubaki nearly cried when she saw that. Whenever Naruto came to the shop, he used to say that to Ino before he left and she always would hug him from the back. Ino might never knew it but Tsubaki and Inoichi did see her doing that with Naruto a lot of times, and they were happy about it.

As Naruto left the shop, Inoichi walked to a nearly-teary Tsubaki as he comforted his wife.

"Naruto harbours deep feelings for our daughter…."

"Indeed.."

Konoha Graveyard had lesser visitors than usual that day. Naruto walked up to the grave of his love, Ino, as he slowly placed the bouquet of red flowers on top of the gravestone.

He slowly sat down in front of the grave as he begins to speak.

"I don't think I'll not be able to get used to not hearing your voice anymore…" Naruto chuckled as he frowned while looking at the grave.

"I feel empty, y'know? Yeah I have Kurama chattering with me all time, Sakura looking after me, Tsunade-baachan, Ero-sennin but, I still feel empty without you…After all, you are my life, y'know?"

Silence filled the air as he continued speaking.

"Are you angry with me, Ino? Please say something….."

He remembered the time when he used to win in spars against Ino, and used to avoid him for the entire day. Obviously, she was never serious about it, just used to fool Naruto like that. But this time, it was..different.

Naruto was started to get depressed and all saddened up once again. Tears started to come out of his cry.

"I can't live without you….Every night, I dream about the happy times we spent together, the feelings we shared, our memories, everything."

Droplets of tears started to fall on the gravestone, which made it seem like Ino was also crying at Naruto's condition.

"I-I love you, y'know?"

Sakura was worried. She was worried as hell! It was around 9pm and Naruto hadn't returned home yet. She waited at the dining table, while laying the dinner for both of them as he heard the sound of the door opening.

"Where the hell were you?" Sakura growled as Naruto simply took the seat alongside her.

"I went to meet Ino. I guess, I ended up hanging out with her longer than usual." He smiled a bit, trying to hide his sadness.

Sakura understood that he was at the graveyard the whole time as she patted his shoulder.

"Okay, now have some dinner, or, did you go out to Ichiraku with her?"

Naruto started spending more time at Ino's grave. Sometimes, he used to spend his entire day there, gossiping with Ino. His friends, even his senseis were worried about him. Surely, they did visit her grave once in a while, but Naruto's condition was different. He barely took a mission, didn't even train or even meet up with his friends.

"I am worried about him." Tsunade said as she looked towards Jiraya, who was standing in front of the Hokage's desk.

"He still hasn't gotten over her death." Jiraya said as Tsunade frowned.

"If things go on like this, how will he continue on being a shinobi? He doesn't take any missions or, even spend time training." Tsunade asked, worried about her surrogate son.

Meanwhile, Naruto got his hands on the medical reports of Ino, which stated on the various injuries due to which, she died.

Naruto was deeply saddened as he went through the entire report. 'She suffered so much….Only if she could share her pain with me….'

That Night, Sakura was fast asleep on Naruto's bed as he was standing at the balcony, starring at the stars which where twinkling in the sky. He was holding a kunai in his hands.

"Do you think Ino will approve me of doing this?" Naruto said as he kept starring at the sky.

"Naruto, are you seriously going to harm yourself?" Kurama said.

"Well, this is the only way I can feel her pain…"

Before Kurama could say anyting, Naruto slashed the kunai through his gut, resulting a deep cut as he started bleeding. In a moment, Naruto fell on the ground with a thud sound as he started coughing out blood.

"You know that I will heal you. But, that's just a dumb thing to do, Naruto." Kurama growled as Naruto just starred at the Kunai in his hands, covered in blood.

'Why can't I just kill myself? Without her, this life is meaningless for me….'

The thud sound at the balcony got Sakura awake. Worried, she rushed to the balcony, to be greeted by the sight of Naruto sitting on the floor, blood scattered around the floor, a kunai in his hand and a deep cut in his gut.

"NARUTO!" She shouted as he got a hold of his blonde best friend.

"What are you doing?!" She snatched off the Kunai from his hands and threw it away from him.

Naruto just looked into her eyes. She was worried about him.

"S-sakura…" Naruto spoke as she was healing his wound using her medical ninjutsu.

"Please don't do that ever again.." Sakura said as she started to shed tears. "I already lost my best friend and can't afford to lose another one…Although, I know that furball won't let you die."

"B-but, I just wanted to feel Ino's p-"

Before he could say anything more, Sakura sent a slap across his face, surprising him a bit as he slowly turned towards her. She was sobbing, tears flowing down her cheeks.

"What about me?!" Sakura asked as she placed her hands of Naruto's shoulder.

"What about my pain? Doesn't it hurt to see that one of my best friend is dead and another one is slowly destroying himself?"

"Sakura.." Naruto was about said something as she shut his lips using her fingers.

"Will Ino approve of what you are doing? Would she like to see what you are becoming? What about your dreams? You might say that Ino is your life but, would she like to see your condition?"

"I-I.." Naruto was speechless. He couldn't say anything at that moment. He felt guilty for what he was trying to do.

"I am s-sorry…"

"I know, you idiot." Sakura said as she took a seat alongside Naruto, resting her back on the wall behind her.

"I know that, these feelings which you harbour for Ino, you can't let them go. It hurts a lot but, that's life after all." She said as she placed her hand on Naruto's cheek.

"Ino never left you, she never will. She will be with you always. It will only sadden her up if you keep being depressed all the time. Will she like that?"

"N-no."

"Then, what to do you say? Let's take a mission tomorrow and go to Ichiraku's after that? Of course, I'll be staying with you…" Sakura said as she gently placed a kiss on Naruto's cheek.

"S-sakura…" Naruto managed to say as Sakura asked.

"What is it, Naruto?"

"Please don't leave me like Ino-chan did."

Sakura bonked on Naruto's head as he scratched his head a bit.

"Idiot, she never left you."

"Y-yeah, I know."

"And, I will always be there for you, forever….."

One-Shots are quite hard to write lol. Well, I am working on the new chapter of It's fun to watch the future so stay tuned for that.

And about the idea, I got it in my dreams (no cap).
