"I'm gonna see how little Virgil is doing," the man slid towards the stairs with a wicked smirk plastered across his face under his mask.

"Don't go up there bothering him, Adam. He is sick," Jess shook her head.

"I'm here to kick him when he's down, this is the perfect time to put on my steel toes," he said like it was common sense, "Just a few minutes," Adam hurried off before she could attempt to discourage him anymore.

Virgil was politely wrapped in a small nap when he felt himself being dragged to the edge of the bed. He flailed awake to keep from falling, ending up grabbing Adam's wrist.

"Wake up, chump. I need to make sure you're alive," he smirked under his mask.

"Dude," he rolled his eyes, "Get out, let me die peacefully."

Adam tsked, "Look at ya. Weak. That's ok, I'll tell your son about you. Let him know you died a coward."

"I swear, get out!" He coughed.

"Its ok, Goku, let me fluff your pillow for you," he teased, tucking him in, "Shh, go to the light."

Virgil slapped his hand away, sitting up, "You wanna go, Rubberband man? I can still take you!" He started to stand from his bed and ended up having a coughing fit

Adam had to hold the wall as he laughed, "It's ok, struggle for those last breaths. I'll let Gunner know you died like a b-ch."

"Jessica!" Virgil sobbed, pulling his blanket over his head.

Adam snorted, still laughing, "That's right, call mama."

Jess slapped the man in his back, causing him to yell out, jumping away from her, "Get out, I told you to leave him alone!"

He hissed, still laughing as he ran away.

"Don't wake the baby," she attempted to shush him, closing her bedroom door back.

Virgil whined, pulling his pillow over his head. Just wait until he was better, he had something for his brother-in-law.

"Seriously," Sharon rolled her eyes.

"I'm trying to toughen him up. He needs that older brother harassment," he rubbed his back with a wince, "All this coddling you two are giving him needs a little counterbalance."

"If you wake that baby, I will beat you within an inch of your life," Jess warned, waving her fist at him.

"I'll go check," Miguel hurried off.

"Please, don't bother daddy," she called after him, turning back to glare at Adam, "Please wait until he's better to patronize him. Even if it is funny."

"That's how we show love," he snickered, "We better get ready to go back. We gotta pick up the girls and we don't want to interfere with whatever weird stuff y'all got going on here."

"Weird stuff like what?"

He pointed in the direction of where Miguel went, "You guys live in boyfriend."

"I don't have a boyfriend, I got a husband."

"Dude, he's their kid. I already told you, they adopted," Sharon scoffed at her husband's idiocy or mocking. Sometimes she couldn't tell which he was displaying towards her kid brother.

Adam raised an eyebrow, "So, do you get a tax break or something for him? I never understood the logistics of that thing. Also, he is a seven foot tall mountain of Mexican muscle."

"Jealous?" Jess smirked, "You don't have to understand, you merely have to be respectful. He is my child, and that is the extent of it."

He raised his hands, still not getting it, "Ok, not here to fight. Let me know when homeboy is better so we can have a fair fight."

"Will do," she gave them both hugs, "Get home safe. Give the girls my love."

Mig hugged Jess as she read. Following the words along the page, allowing himself to visualize the cyberpunk world of the book.

"Are you going to patrol?"

"Nope, someone else can do something. I have to take care of my own first," she ran her fingers through his hair, massaging his scalp.

He rubbed the side of his face against her chest, "Everyone asked about you and daddy. They want to go back to that park."

"We can make it happen. Just gotta wait for Virgil and GG to feel better. I did say I was going to take everyone to the aquarium, just got busy," she scrolled, continuing to rub his hair until she heard a cry, "That's for me."

"I can get him," Miguel pushed up, nearly jumping from bed.

Jess grabbed his wrist, standing up, "I'll get him, you lay back down."

"I can get him," he whined, gently pulling at his wrist.

"Go on, in bed. I'll be back."

He bounced unhappily in place.

"No fussing," pressing his favorite strawberry pacifier into his mouth, she traced his cheekbone with the side of her finger, "I'll be right back."

He flopped, watching her go. Why wouldn't she let him help more? He was knowledgeable on what sick infants needed.

"Alright, we're back," Jess walked in, carrying Gunner, "See, didn't take long at all," she climbed back into Miguel's bed with him so she could soothe the little one.

Mig leaned against her again, holding Gunner's little hand as he whimpered.

"He already had his medicine," Spider-woman knew he was going to offer to get him something, "He just wants cuddles now," she kissed the baby's warm cheek.

2099 sighed, leaning on her shoulder, "Well, you do give good cuddles," He slurred around the mouth piece.

"Years of practice," she kissed his forehead, "Now, where were we?"

He pointed to the page, "Where the cyborg girl was going to find the prince."

"Yep," she continued to read from there as Gunner quietly nursed.
