"This is a lot of food," Miguel set the containers on the table.

"Nan went into hyperdrive when I said sick," Hobie brought more bags in, "Just warning you. She believes in sweating a fever out. So…" he looked through the bags, "This," he held up a large blue container, "This is spicy as h3ll."

"Thanks for letting me know," he nodded, "Why are you up so early?" It was like 6 am.

The rockstar shrugged, "Nan and I do our shopping early when they let seniors in," he inspected the coffee machine.

"Don't touch that," Miguel scolded.

"I ain't touch it, I'm lookin'," he rolled his eyes, "The store opens at 7:30 and she's old, so she tends to wake at 6. But she woke me up to deliver all the food."

"Tell your Nana thank you, I'll give it to Mami when she wakes."

"How's Ma doing?"

"She's doing fine, just tired, since she's taking care of them and won't let me help," he was still sour.

Hobie nodded, a minor sulk on his face, "Well, tell them I asked about them," he tossed an envelope on the counter, "Give that to dad. I'm gonna head out. Nana is taking me to the movies later, so I may or may not be at HQ today."

"Ok, have fun," Mig waved to him, continuing to put the food away.

With Hobie gone Mig got back to quietly cleaning for Jess. He was fighting the want to go back to his dimension, knowing his luck he would get into a fight with every enemy known to mankind. Even though he could just open the portal to his home.

Jess stretched out, feeling the bed empty. Ok, both her kids are missing, how fun. She merely got up and walked to the bathroom.

Laundry in the wash, cool. Bathroom looked extra clean, lovely. He couldn't sit still.

Tap, tap, tap.

"Yes?"

"I checked GG's temperature, it's gone and he seems much better. And Hobie brought food. I put it away."

"Thank you, Miguel," she called out, "And daddy?"

"His is going down some, I gave him a fresh ice pack and I'm about to make him food to take with medicine."

"Ok, thanks boo."

Jess made it out of her bathroom, walking about the house, checking on her husband first before looking for her kids.

Virgil was sitting up, looking mildly unhappy as Miguel fed him something. Dumpling soup maybe? She couldn't tell, whatever it was he was chewing it. And Gunner crawled on his leg.

Of course Jess took a picture, "How are you feeling, babe?"

"Better, just tired now," he opened his mouth for more soup, "And this food is good."

"That's wonderful, babe. Hopefully you'll be back to 100% in a few more days and Miguel and I can stop worrying."

"You just can't let me go," he threw his arm over his forehead dramatically.

Jess rolled her eyes, "You're worth more to me alive than dead."

"I mean, what do I have? A hundred thousand dollar life insurance policy?" He asked around bites of food, "You have friends, you wouldn't be a single mother long."

Virgil choked as Miguel forced the food into his mouth, "Don't talk like that. You'll be better soon. You just have the flu."

He was more so saying that for himself than for Virgil. He didn't like that comment, whether it was meant in jest or not.

She rubbed Miguel's hair back, "That's right, you tell Daddy to stop being dramatic and scaring my boy. And when you're done-"

"I already made breakfast," he said quickly, "It's on the table. I'll be down to eat soon. I just want to make sure he eats."

She shook her head, picking up GG, "Ok, pumpkin. Well why don't we let daddy watch his robot wars or whatever and we have breakfast?"

He nodded, focusing on the task at hand as she left the room.

"I'm just joking honey," Virgil rubbed his hand, "Daddy is resilient."

"I don't like those jokes," he muttered, "Do you want anything else? Do you want more?"

"I'm good. Wash your hands and go eat with mommy."

"Kiss?"

"I'm sick, and I don't want you getting sick."

"I don't care about getting sick," Miguel insisted.

"I do. I will give you many kisses when I'm better, ok," he cupped his chin, "Go get kisses from mommy."

He sulked, but nodded, taking the dishes and finding his way to the kitchen with Jess.

"You're gonna get sick," she warned, "I appreciate the help so much, but you're not as immune to viruses as I am."

"I don't get sick," he dismissed. An utter lie but Jess didn't bother to correct him. At least if he got sick too the whole house could be out of the way.

Things seemed good for the next couple weeks. Virgil was back in fit condition and annoying Jess more than ever. And of course GG was good. And that was one last thing Miguel had to stress over now.

"You plan on going back to your society any time soon?" Virgil wrapped his arm around his wife as they watched TV.

"Yeah, I'm getting harassed by teens and adults who just can't function without me," she shrugged.

He nodded, snickering some, "I can relate," he kissed her cheek, "We sure can't survive without you."

Jess smiled, leaning on his shoulder, "It's just the caregiver in me, I suppose."

"《If》," he started in German, "《we didn't have company here, I would show you how much of a giver I can be.》"

She gave him an alluring smirk before glancing at the two who decided that they wanted to stay the night in mommy and daddy's bed.

"《They'll have to fall asleep eventually. And when they do I might decide to go clean your office.》" she shrugged.

"My girl."
