Chapter 713: The Enemy Attacks Once Again!
"Brother Feng, this ruin is so huge. Your city-building this time should need to engage some help, right?" Watermelon Skin asked Feng Luo, along with the three of them , about the city-building matter.
Skynet and Ion Flame exchanged glances, looking towards Dan Hen who seemed he wanted to say something, but only lowered his head and remained silent.
At last, Ion Flame could not help but tell Feng Luo, "Hmm… Definitely needed!"
Feng Luo nodded in affirmation.
The total number of players of Nightless Club was no more than over 1,000, whereas combat players were only over 700 people.
With such manpower, it was really insufficient to clear out the Underground ruin, even though NPCs' help was available in the plan. They would definitely, nonetheless, need to engage a part of the people to participate in the clearing mission.
"Well then, Big Brother Feng, could we join?" Skynet instantly spoke, sounding a little urgent.
Hearing this, Feng Luo did not immediately respond. He carefully considered Skynet's offer. Then collecting himself, he said with a smile, "Of course! You're most welcome. With experts like you and Brother Ion joining to help us, we're absolutely fortunate."
The reason why Feng Luo was taken aback by Ion Flame's and Skynet's words was because from what he knew, the battle between the Veterans Tribe and the Roaring Dragon Mercenary Group these days after the fall of Silvermoon City had not ended yet.
After the Veterans Tribe people had been driven out of Silvermoon City, they had stationed themselves at a system city near Silvermoon City, then especially took up camp missions related there. A battle ensued with the Roaring Dragon Mercenary Group almost every day.
As such, although the city-building ruin-clearing required manpower, where the Veterans Tribe and Nightless Club players previously had experience in cooperating in clearing the ruin before, along with the relationship among Feng Luo and Dan Hen, Black Rose, and the others making them the best candidates, Feng Luo had not initiated the invite.
He thought that in such a situation, the Veterans Tribe clearly did not have time to spare some manpower to come over and help.
As the guild's main elite team, it was understandable that Dan Hen and company took some time to do a mission. After all, most missions were of limited time and needed to be completed as soon as possible.
However, staying back to help Nightless City do city-building clearing was not really possible.
Then again, who would have thought that Ion Flame and Skynet would have initiatively brought up this matter?
In such a situation, he naturally would choose to agree.
However, this situation that just happened was slightly strange, as Ion Flame and Skynet's we clearly did not refer to just the two of them, but to the entire Dan Hen team.
Logically, such a decision typically should come from Dan Hen as the team leader, but he had been silent.
Of course, he did not object either.
But such silence, along with his observation at the moment that had actually noticed the reactions of the three of them, had made Feng Luo feel a little confused.
Naturally, he would not speak up about this confusion.
The participation of the Dan Hen team was truly a pleasant surprise.
He was very clear about the ability of the Dan Hen team. Everyone was good that they could definitely be seen as elites even in the combat teams of big guilds such as the Nine Star Guild.
Not to mention that the ability of Dan Hen himself was at the level of top experts!
With their participation, the ruin-clearing mission, needless to say, had an extra portion of combat power.
"Right, Brother Feng. If we, the Nightless City, built our station here, would it be under the threat of that so-called 'Freedom Flag' NPC force in the Death Forest?"
Upon confirmation about joining the Nightless Club, My World had already brought his own position into the guild and probed.
"Don't worry about this…" Feng Luo smiled reassuringly.
…
Time gradually past with their conversation. It was already four in the morning, and the sky was at its darkest before dawn.
Beep. You have an automatically received message.
Feng Luo's communicator received a notification.
"All has been well prepared. We'll be arriving in about half an hour," Mu Wu announced from the communicator.
"Alright!" Feng Luo exclaimed.
He then communicated the situation to Mu Wu, then sent the videos recorded by Mu Zi and the others before hanging up.
Everything was going smoothly. Since Mu Wu already received Feng Luo's messages, it meant that he should be at a distance of within 100 kilometers from them already.
In the game, as the air had a lot of disrupting substances and magnetic fields, if both players were in the wild, they would not be able to connect if they were over 10 kilometers.
However, if one party was in a city or possessed the map of the communication towers, or if they carried instruments that strengthened connection effect, the range would be expanded.
Something worth mentioning was that it was heard that the Federal government had already researched a new communication tower and would set it up in many important maps, whereby the connection range would no longer be restricted—this was actually one of the content in the system update this time too.
…
Rumble.
As time passed and it was 4:45 in the morning, a faint white-like belly of a marine creature appeared at the edge of Death Desert.
In the sky not far from where they were, a beam of light from a moving SUV appeared with a faint rumbling.
"Seems like they're here."
From the lookout on a mid-top level of this building, the faces of Watermelon Skin and the others were delightful.
"Hmm… Not right!"
At the back, however, Feng Luo's face was somber.
It was not just him. Dan Hen and Ion Flame, as well as Mu Zi, Rose Thorns, and the rest were also not delighted, but rather stern.
"Old Wu is probably half an hour away," Feng Luo began, "and there should be enough time in the middle for meeting some monsters. But even with good luck and no monsters were encountered, it should need at least one hour. Now it has only been over 40 minutes. It's not the Nightless City people who're here!"
Feng Luo looked at the time on the screen projected from Mu Zi's wristband, which was the reason why he had made such a judgment.
"Then who could it be?" For a while, Azure's eyes widened in disbelief, then she spoke again as she regained her senses. "The Freedom Flag people?"
"Ninety percent possible. I'll go and take a look," Feng Luo said as he stood up, already holding the Wings of Death, and leaped out from an exit.
"Old Little Brother Feng, I'll help you!"
Dan Hen jumped out and followed Feng Luo.
Scouts could shield the opponent's Detection. Furthermore, they had a better effect the closer the range. Dan Hen was worried that Feng Luo would be discovered.
"Alright," Feng Luo agreed.
On the military base sand, the players' corpses left behind from that battle in the middle of the night had already been cleared out.
The two Gunner players both engaged Quick Sneak and quickly ran a distance and climbed up to the roof of a taller building in front of the military base, and hid themselves well.
Subsequently, they used their binoculars and looked towards the direction of the source of the noises.
The sounds came from behind the biggest sand dune. The beams of light from SUVs shot chaotically into the night sky, creating a glow of white light.
Judging from the beams of light, the number of SUVs definitely would not be small.
"At least over 50!" Dan Hen said as he held up his binoculars, his voice low.
…
Five minutes later, the first Energy SUV entered the field of view of the two of them . Two Heavy Armored Warriors holding Alloy Shields stood on top, and between them stood a six-barreled machine gun.
Right after, the SUV was followed by the second, third…tenth…twentieth…
Each one was an Energy SUV of a different style modified to suit the desert terrain, sending up sand and dust as they entered the extended field of view of the two people.
Many of the SUVs had people standing at the top, most of them were Warrior players, while there was also a part of them who were protected Gunners and Manipulators covered in force fields.
As they had yet to have entered combat state, these people's chests did not have the camp-signature red light. However, Feng Luo was already sure of their identities.
Among these people, no one was a Nightless City member whom he knew.
Rather, he saw a few people who had that kind of Golden Scorpion and Wolves marks from before.
In contrast with other players, these few Golden Scorpion and Wolves people were more careful in action, as they hid their bodies' critical spots behind the SUVs and shields.
Obviously, they were full of fear.
But they would not know.
At this point, Feng Luo decided against firing at all, as he turned a little grim just like Dan Hen beside him.
While there were already over 50 SUVs that entered their field of view and the number of people had definitely exceeded 200, there were actually even more from behind.
"Retreat!" Feng Luo decided as he exchanged glances with Dan Hen.
They had completely given up on attacking first, using the suddenness of the ambush and the long-range advantage to assassinate the opponent Machine Gunners or Medics, and other strategies. They were outnumbered. Obviously, engaging the opponents was futile.
The two of them turned back and jumped off the building from behind, rushing back to the underground-linked building where Mu Zi and the others were.
Seeing that the two had returned, Mu Zi immediately asked, "Brother Feng? How's the situation?"
"It's indeed the Freedom Flag players. There are more than 200 of them!" Feng Luo said in a low voice.
"Two hundred people? That's a lot!"
My World, Skynet, and the others were shocked after hearing the news.
"Perhaps even more…," Feng Luo added.
"I'm now really curious," he continued, "about just how important your mission item this time is, actually letting so many Freedom Flag players take the risk of meeting BOSSes and getting wiped out to come over here and chase us!"
Feng Luo knew that these people definitely would not deliberately come over to avenge those players they had previously killed.
The players recruited by the Freedom Flag NPC armed force were all as small as the structures of small 100-men mercenary groups. In addition, these mercenary groups were vigorously competitive among themselves.
Hence, these few hundreds of people taking a huge risk to travel 100 kilometers in such a high-level map in the night clearly would not be to avenge two of their competitive opponents.
They would have accepted a mission released by the NPCs, have been attracted by rich rewards, that was why they would once again form an even larger team to come over and attack after both the Golden Scorpion and Wolves people had failed.
This absolutely proved that the mission item procured by My World and the others was definitely of extremely high value, but it was a shame that the mission item was, as they had said, being stored in an unopenable safe.

Chapter 714: Blocked for Half an Hour
Had this mission not been My World's and the others' but himself, Feng Luo would perhaps have attempted to open the safe out of curiosity.
Based on what he had encountered up until now, it seemed like there was nothing that could resist the blade of Ghost Weep with the destruction Psionic Energy.
As for whether destroying the mission item would cause the mission to fail, with the level of freedom of War, there would definitely not be such a setting.
Of course, till then, NPCs' attitude might not be too good, and Feng Luo would still have to bear the outcome.
However, with the current situation, there was clearly no time for him to open the safe.
Feng Luo suggested, "Let's go down to the Underground City!"
He then led the group running towards the passageway to enter the city.
With what recently transpired, this was what they could only do as of the moment. Continuing to hide in this building would be futile.
Since the opponent had actually moved out twice consecutively in the night, further increasing the number of participating people by several times, it clearly proved that they had to get their hands on the object in the safe.
There were two Scouts, Mu Zi and Dan Hen, in the team who were able to shield against the opponent's Detection to a certain extent.
However, as the sand outside would leave tracks, the opponent would easily know that they did not leave the military base. Then they would be able to lock this building according to their different traces.
The only way now was to enter the Underground City, then to think of a way to delay time until Mu Wu brings the Nightless City people here.
"Half an hour… We have to delay at least half an hour. During this period, stop them from entering the terminal region with all you've got!" Feng Luo instructed in a grave tone as he entered the underground passageway.
He looked at Mu Zi, My World, and the few others who were now members of the Nightless Club.
The discovery of the Underground ruin would not be a huge problem. The key was that the galactic warship could not be discovered by these people yet.
It would definitely make any player go crazy. Moreover, once these players discovered the galactic warship, they would certainly inform the NPC armed force immediately, known as Freedom Flag, to exchange for their rewards.
From the start, it was in Feng Luo and Mu Wu's plan to expose the news of the galactic warship to that NPC force, and thereon let the Federal government NPC army help as fighters to get rid of all the hidden trouble surrounding this city-building.
But not now…
Feng Luo said softly, "I just hope that these people really see the importance of the object in the safe."
Just then, Mu Wu had already entered the Underground City.
With Dan Hen, Watermelon Skin, and the others' cautious studying, Feng Luo first let Mu Zi use Detection to certify that the surrounding had no monsters before bringing the team to run straight in the opposite direction from the terminal.
They had come down to a straight passageway, wherein over 10 meters was a flight of stairs leading to the main path that cut into different regions of the Underground City.
"A mistake… Should've taken an SUV from the start before we entered combat state!"
"That way, even if there were 300 people on the other side, they wouldn't be able to catch up with us!"
Feng Luo brought the group running to the entrance of the main path. In his signal, they all hid, then raised their weapons and aimed them at the spot behind where they had come down from.
Throughout this process, Feng Luo's sight unintentionally scanned through the main path of the Underground City, and a thought occurred to him.
The main passageway of this Underground City was not as narrow as a manhole dug by people. As it was meant to provide underground transport for the military base, the passageway could be said to be very wide, even 10 SUVs would be able to pass through.
The Nightless City team had not used SUVs before because, at that time, the underground passageway still had huge populations of monsters. It would have been too dangerous to use SUVs.
Currently, a huge portion of the monsters had already been cleared out.
In this situation, they could use an SUV, if they could get one.
Retreat when they were at the lower hand, and it would not be possible at all for the opponent to catch up with them.
However, it was a pity that the combat state determination in War was unlike typical games whereby it would only be counted when one really wanted to attack or after one was attacked, but was automatically determined by the system.
Now, the option of retrieving transport tools was already dim, making them able to only take on the danger of forcefully delaying the time.
"There's an underground passageway over here. They have certainly gone down!"
Not beyond Feng Luo's anticipation, the Freedom Flag players had indeed quickly found this place.
There were sounds from the passageway entrance, even lights and sounds from lighting tools. Then seven or eight figures followed, charging out from the entrance.
"F*ck! Underground here is actually a passageway. I thought it was a basement."
The first to charge was a Heavy Armored Warrior player holding a shield. The light radiating from his terminal cut through the darkness in the surrounding region. His tone had a tinge of shock.
"Stop spewing nonsense! Hurry up and find them! We're the first to discover this entrance. Can't let them snatch it!"
Behind, a Scout player yelled.
"Should be over there…"
The Scout player first threw a Detection, then shone the lighting tool in his hand over where Feng Luo and the others were.
Ping!
Just as he spoke, a sniper bullet had already hit his head that was exposed from behind the Heavy Armored Warrior's shield.
"-11345!"
The rest of the team were dumbfounded by the Scout player's shattered brain in an instant and that blood-red five-digit damage coefficient above his head.
They had heard from someone in the team saying that the Wolves and Golden Scorpion people had met an insane Sniper, and so they had been defeated that they had fled and failed the mission.
But at this point, they did not really take it to heart.
They felt that the Wolves and Golden Scorpion people had lost their pride from the failed mission and deliberately underestimate the enemy's ability.
Presently, this busted head and blood that had splattered onto their faces and clothing and which was still hot right in front of their eyes had undoubtedly informed them that there was really a Sniper on the other side.
Moreover, one who could kill in one shot.
Ping, ping!
Da, da, da…
Boom!
On Feng Luo's side was not just one Sniper, but two, and then two Scouts and a Fire Manipulator who had already regained full MP.
Under the stunned gazes of these people, a bunch of bullets and a burning pillar that seemingly cut through the darkness of the underground passageway were already rolling over following Feng Luo's attack.
Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh…
In an instant, these people who had been unable to retaliate in time had once again turned into three streaks of the white light of death.
"F*ck! It's an ambush here. Retreat! Retreat!"
Just like that, four of them had been killed, and the other few hurriedly rushed back out.

Chapter 715: Flashbang-ed
"F*ck! There's a Sniper."
"That's it. I quit! Go down if you will!"
After the people had retreated, and as Feng Luo tried to listen, he could hear some intense yelling and even cursing from above the entrance.
Unfortunately, Feng Luo could not hear much because the distance was too far and the situation was too chaotic.
However, after letting an entire half a minute pass, surprisingly, no one came down.
All the lighting tools had suddenly vanished. It was as if the opponent was afraid and had already given up on the idea of coming down.
"Something's not right. I think they're scheming," Feng Luo speculated in a low voice, his mind thinking rapidly. "Everyone, be on your guard."
Previously, some people were too arrogant and wanted to attack right away, lacking foresight. Watermelon Skin, along with three others, had entered via Underground totally unprepared, and so the four of them were killed in just the first round of attack.
But this did not mean that there was no other way to enter. It was because they had a limited supply of firepower—they were able to kill Gunners and Manipulators with one shot, but it was impossible to kill Warriors that way.
If the opponent deployed 10 Heavy Armored Warriors, they would be able to handle the situation—it was not like there was really no way.
"Mu Zi, throw a light stick over here!" Feng Luo instructed, his eyes brightened up.
In order for them to prevent exposing their location at that moment, they had to put off all of their lighting tools, which left the passageway in total darkness.
Even with his sharp eyesight, he couldn't see anything.
"Sou!"
Hearing this, Mu Zi instantly fished out a light stick from his backpack, stood up, and threw it at Feng Luo.
Thud, thud…
The light stick hit a wall and the place started to light up. Then it fell onto the ground and sprung a few meters before illuminating the surrounding area.
As the light stick had finally landed at a spot, a small black object above the passageway simultaneously rolled along with it. The two objects crashed into each other.
"Close your eyes!" Feng Luo yelled as soon as he saw the collision. He then turned his head swiftly and shielded it with his arm.
"Uh?" Azure uttered, completely clueless, while Watermelon Skin and the rest were slow in their reactions.
Subsequently, they realized the reason behind Feng Luo's sudden warning.
The initially dark underground passageway had suddenly turned a hundred times brighter than day.
A flash grenade!
The Freedom Flag players had sneakily tossed in a flash grenade! Had Feng Luo not felt that something was off and asked Mu Zi to throw him a light stick, they would all have fallen into the trap.
In the dark environment of the Underground passageway, the effect of a flashbang was undoubtedly potent, especially when its strength was definitely far from low.
Their position was 40 to 50 meters from the passageway entrance, but the light was nonetheless too strong that it could make people become disoriented, as well as squint and tear.
The "aiya" cries from Watermelon Skin, Dai, and the few others revealed that despite the fact that Feng Luo had already reminded them earlier, they paid no heed and had still fallen into the trap.
Boom!
The group was forcefully attacked as soon as the flash grenade exploded.
Then 10 people came charging from across the passageway entrance following this sudden attack.
A line of Heavy Armored Warriors with shields stood at the frontline, while a team of Scout players armed with submachine guns muster at the back. The lighting tools in their hands quickly lit up the dark passageway. Their gun muzzles pointed straight at where Feng Luo and the others were standing, still reeling from the explosion.
Ping!
"-12344!"
However, when they revealed themselves, a Scout player who was behind a Heavy Armored Warrior's shield, but was not quite in sync with his teammates, had exposed a critical point on his chest. Because of this, he was unable to fire rounds from his submachine gun. He was then hit by a Sniper's bullet in his chest, sending him flying straight out.
Da, da, da…
"Be careful! It's that Sniper from just now. He isn't blinded," the Scout player shouted in dismay.
But he had only spoken halfway when he was hit in the face by an incoming stream of submachine gun bullets and a Sniper rifle's bullet.
Feng Luo was not the only one who had not fallen into the trap. On many occasions, Feng Luo had reminded Mu Zi and Dan Hen—these two players who had grown as soldiers—on what to do when faced with situations like this. So they had also instantly turned away, closed their eyes, and covered their heads. This prevented them from going into a "stunned" state by the flashbang explosion, thus retaining their combat power.
Ping!
"-3460!"
Besides, Skynet also fired a shot and defeated this Scout.
Da, da, da…
However, even though they had killed two Scouts, the opponent's battle tactics were still a success.
The remaining eight Scouts were completely hidden behind the Heavy Armored Warriors' shields, sticking out the muzzles of their submachine guns from the gaps between the Alloy Shields and firing at will in the direction of Feng Luo and the others.
Eight submachine guns firing at once formed a bullet wave, which created tremendous damage as compared to the six-barreled machine gun.
If it was not for the fact that Feng Luo and the others were positioned at a bend—giving them enough cover, without a doubt—they would definitely have been reduced to nothing.
Even so, some stray bullets had bounced off from the ceiling or walls and hit them, causing injury to some.
Feng Luo did not expect that every Heavy Armored Warrior in this team actually had a lighting tool, aiming the glare straight at their eyes.
Whenever they stuck their heads out, the rapidly swinging glare by the lighting tool made them unable to counterattack and aim at the enemy, let alone allow them to continue to focus their firepower and kill people at one shot like before.
"Trouble!"
Feng Luo and Dan Hen exchanged worried glances as they struggle to remain hidden.
The current enemy was very different from the Wolves and Golden Scorpion before, or as diverse as the first bunch of people who had come down. They obviously possessed team PK battle experience and had someone leading the team.
Such a team was hard to take on.
The enemy's succeeding moves proved this point.
The Heavy Armored Warriors advanced forcefully straight towards them with their shields arranged in a line.
However, the four Scout players slowed down their attack speed, but amidst the duel, they continued to fire at full power, ensuring their continuous firepower control.
Behind these two groups, some Manipulators in Energy Forcefields charged out, with all of the Energy Converters in their hands all getting ready to light up.
Luckily, by this time, the rest of the people who were stunned by the flash grenade were already recovered and able to see quite clearly.
All the players' bodies are implanted with Biochip, thus capable of healing each organ.
As such, the flashbang's effect had waned faster—unlike under normal circumstances where the effect would have lasted longer—creating a smaller impact on their combat power.
Moreover, as almost all the professions had helmets or lenses—Manipulators had data lenses too, while others had some specially set features—flash grenades were unable to unleash their optimum effect.
This was also one of the reasons why flash grenades were not considered rare as of the moment, but this type of battle tactic had not become the Gunners' trend either.
When the opponent Manipulators appeared, Feng Luo immediately yelled, "Retreat! Ion, firewall!"
At the same time, he took out two small objects from his tactical vest and held them in his hand.
The retreat was inevitable. Not only due to the advancing people in the passageway, but also because according to the structure map, this was not the only place in the military base that could give access to the Underground City.
Perhaps these people had only just discovered this entrance and would swiftly be able to find other places. If they became surrounded by the enemies in all directions, with just over 10 of them, they clearly would not survive. They did not have the ability to take on a few hundreds of the Freedom Flag people on a head-on battle.
Besides, the opponent actually had such elite players that had team PK experience.
This battle to delay time was probably going to be extremely challenging.

Chapter 716: Crisis: Ammunitions Running Out!
Da, da, da…
Bazoom!
In the darkness of the Underground City, explosions, gunshots, and Energy skills merged into one.
The two opposing teams, one at the front and the other at the back, continuously exchanged fire. As there were more people at the back than at the front, the attacking force was naturally multiple times denser.
However, although many people chasing from behind, they were unable to catch up with the fleeing people at the front.
Every now and then, the Warrior players at the back would attempt to charge forward with their Alloy Shields, and the people at the front would toss one or two small objects to the ground in retaliation.
With a bang, the whole Underground passageway would either turn white or would throw off black fumes, blocking the teams' sight and a huge section of the passageway.
The flash grenades didn't affect the Heavy Armored Warriors as they held Alloy Shields in front of them. Consequently, their heads were hidden behind the shields, thus allowing them to safely continue with their attack.
But the smoke bomb frightened them.
This was due to a wide area being rapidly engulfed by smoke, forming a 10 meter or more region of pitch blackness in the passageway.
Most of the time, the first person to emerge out of the smoky region would be shot in the head by a Sniper bullet, even Heavy Armored Warriors with shields were no exception.
Thus, every time smoke engulfed the area, the Heavy Armored Warriors who were responsible for clearing the path would be on their guard and purposely slow down their movements, hoping that someone would charge out of the smoke-engulfed area and sacrifice their lives.
The Light Armored Warriors—who were originally with lesser responsibility, but with much faster Charge speed than the Heavy Armored Warriors—moved further to the back.
If not for this, they would have caught up with the people at the front earlier on.
Ping!
At a spot around the bend, Feng Luo absorbed the countless bullets fired from the back and turned swiftly to fire a shot, which managed to kill an enemy player.
Then he instantly turned back and hid behind a wall, and green recovery coefficients appeared above his head, enabling him to quickly regain half of his strength back and to recover his remaining health back to full.
"1,000, 1,000…"
The firepower of the Freedom Flag people was too strong. In just a fraction of a second of showing himself, Feng Luo's strength was reduced by two-thirds. However, his Light Armored Warrior defense power didn't decrease much—he had the use of Recovery Force once he was attacked, giving him some few thousands round of health recovery per second.
If it was someone else, even a Warrior player with ten-thousands of health like One Pillar Skyward and My World would be asking for their deaths if they dared to turn back and attack in such a situation.
Luckily, his judgment was, as always, right.
People were taking risks to dive into the Death Desert was indeed for the thing inside the safe.
Therefore, they were willing to give up exploring this Underground ruin, and instead charge to chase and attack Feng Luo and his people.
This was clearly the case because, compared to the unknown ruins, the NPCs' rewards were more attractive to them.
If people knew that there was a galactic warship that would fetch over 10 pieces of Legendary equipment once handed over to an NPC at a place not more than one kilometer from where they were in another direction of the Underground ruins, they would definitely not have chosen this way.
The chase was still in progress.
But, at the next moment, the situation changed.
Da, da, da…
The front of the Death Star submachine gun in Dan Hen's hands stretched out, while he stayed hidden in his cover and fired the last string of bullets in the magazine at the chasers.
"I have no more bullets!" he muttered in a low voice.
In the battle with the Wolves and Golden Scorpion people previously, half of his bullets and potions had already been used up. But after going through this chase, they were almost fully used up.
As of the moment, the Death Star in his hands was the submachine gun from Feng Luo's backpack from Silvermoon City, and its bullets had depleted too.
At another place, Mu Zi, who was panting, reached out and felt that his tactical vest was empty. "I have no more bullets either!"
It was fortunate that the Nightless team had brought as much supplies as they could when they started on their travel through the Death Desert. As a result, they had enough to last them the entire three days of travelling, plus a few hours of battle in the Underground City earlier on.
It wasn't just Mu Zi and Dan Hen. The few Warrior and Medic players, who made use of firearms to ward off attacks, had almost finished their bullets as well.
Ping!
Feng Luo turned back once again and fired a shot to the back.
He still had sufficient bullets. After all, Snipers consumed less gunpowder, and Feng Luo's backpack contained an enlarged Agent backpack.
However, although he still had some bullets, he knew that his combat power was about to decrease.
Unfortunately, by then, his Psionic Energy and Force had almost depleted.
His Force was still fine, as he still had a few unused Force potions in his backpack that he could still utilize to replenish a few hundred points the instant he felt he didn't have the ability to make it.
But his Destruction Psionic Energy eventually became sufficient for the last bullet.
Attacking with Psionic Energy added onto the Sniper bullet had consumed not just a few points or 10 over points, but a few tens of points. The equipment he had on him didn't enhance the Psionic Energy coefficient. Thus, even if he used it sparingly, it would be able to support only about 10 times.
Since he was without the Destruction Psionic Energy effect, even the Wings of Death together with B-Grade armor-piercing bullets wasn't able to destroy a Heavy Armored Warrior's defense, let alone kill a Heavy Armored Warrior with one shot.
As long as he lost the threat of a one-shot killing, the Freedom Flag players behind would definitely be able to charge at them.
"Ten minutes… We must only delay by 10 minutes."
Mu Zi looked at the time on the projected screen of his Detection wristband with a somber expression on his face.
"Crap, Brother Feng! I've detected that there are people approaching from behind," Mu Zi replied, his expression changing drastically as he pointed at a spot on the projected screen.
On the Recon Meter, from a fork at their side, there were a few white dots moving towards them. If they had caught up and blocked the path, the group would have landed themselves in a situation by which they had enemies both from the front and back.
"They must have found a terminal somewhere, so…," Dai spoke anxiously.
There was nothing much to say, knowing that it wasn't just them who obtained information from the terminal at the ruins.
"Retreat and continue running. Then come over here."
Feng Luo raised up the Wings of Death once more and blindly fired a bullet to the back.
He then quickly reached out and tapped on the Underground City structure map projected from the Detection wristband.
The spot where he had tapped on was marked with a red patch representing danger. There was also a very huge patch of red-colored region which wasn't very far from where they were, an almost two-minute journey if they didn't run all-out.
This was…
Mu Zi froze and something came to his mind. Then his eyes lit up.
Desert Nematodes!
Rose Thorns held up her Alloy Shield, which was already full of holes, and ran to the back. After glancing at the spot that Feng Luo had pointed at, her eyes lit up as well.
"Good idea, Brother Feng!"
One Pillar Skyward's eyes brighten up too.
Desert Nematodes?
Dan Hen, Watermelon Skin, and the others weren't sure, and, therefore, had some doubts.
"You'll know when we get there. Everyone, hurry!"
…
The group started to retreat, while Feng Luo aimed a smoke bomb behind to obstruct the enemies.
This time, he had decided to run straight towards the region in order to prevent the Freedom Flag players from proceeding to their escape route. He was aware of the fact that they had already not much bullets left.
As such, the group didn't retreat or counterattack as before, but instead, started running away.
Feng Luo threw a few flash grenades and smoke bombs to stop the opponents from running away.
"Why is it they're no longer counterattacking? I have already thrown two consecutive smoke bombs at them, but no Heavy Armored Warrior has been killed!"
After about a minute, many of the pursuing players started to get suspicious.
"Could it be that Sniper doesn't have that kind of special black bullet? A bullet that is able to go straight through an Alloy Shield or an Alloy Armor is definitely not a special bullet!"
Some people had some thoughts…
As for the Destruction Psionic Energy, the system log wouldn't have given a general notification. Thus, they all thought that it was a special black bullet with a one-shot feature that killed the Heavy Armored Warriors.
Once such a thought came up, it made many Warrior players a little impulsive.
When the third smoke bomb thrown by Feng Luo formed a black smoky region, some Heavy Armored Warriors stopped slowing down and charged straight ahead.
Ping!
A Heavy Armored Warrior charging in front was hit by a bullet and fell straight to the ground. A black hole in his Alloy Shield and helmet could be seen.
Immediately, the faces of the Light Armored Warriors who had already engaged Charge changed, and their pace in the darkness slowed down once again.

Chapter 717: Success in Baiting the Enemy
"The Desert Nematode territory is just in front. Everyone, don't stop once you're in, but charge straight forward," Feng Luo commanded. "Mu Zi, you take the front and light the Ambergris."
Two minutes later, they reached Underground somewhere at the front of the military base.
Feng Luo held the Wings of Death with a layer of red life armor around his body, shooting behind him as he yelled at everyone.
"Roger!"
Mu Zi ran as he took out the last piece of a fist-sized Ambergris from his tactical vest.
The group ran as fast as they can to the entrance of the base.
Hiss!
Once they entered, the initially dark field was lit up by the lighting tools.
When they had a clear view of the situation before them, Skynet and Watermelon Skin couldn't help but let out a gasp, and even Dan Hen's face twitched.
In front of everyone was a vast area which looked like a sports court or a square, 10 times wider than the path they were running in.
In the middle of this 10,000-square-meter region was a monster.
It was a creature entangled together in clumps, all black and looking like snakes, but more like metallic wires, wiggling in this considerably huge region. Upon being shone on with light, it displayed an oily metal-like blackness.
The projection on Mu Zi's Recon Meter had already turned into a dense patch of yellow. As it was all so clustered, the numbers couldn't be detected at all.
But there were undeniably at least 10,000.
"Desert Nematode, Level 55 cluster monster, HP: 8,000!"
Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh…
As this sea of uncountable black nematodes on the ground charged at Feng Luo and the others, a change transpired instantly.
Some of the Desert Nematodes closer to them rapidly untangled their slimy bodies from their coiled state and charged at them like slithering snakes.
Then those in the middle…those further…until across them…
In an instant, the entire sea of worms moved as if they had all gotten the news, dispersing into the surroundings like ripples when a stone was thrown onto the water surface.
The moment this ten-thousands of Level 55 monsters lunged over, the consequences need not be mentioned.
Skynet and Watermelon Skin were horrified.
Poof!
Just then, Mu Zi lit the last piece of Ambergris by friction, using a military knife. A refreshing and calming scent rapidly dispersed into the surrounding.
The closest nematodes that had already rushed in, and was less than five meters from them, suddenly appeared distressed. It was as if they had encountered a kryptonite and started to flee in all directions.
The black nematodes nearby that had smelled the scent became like tidal waves hitting a firm rock as they turned and rammed backward, clashing into the nematodes in the middle, eventually forming a wide area of about 10 meters surrounding the people.
"Hurry! This bit of Ambergris can't last much longer." Feng Luo looked back and threw the last smoke bomb from his backpack. He then called on the remaining six people to move through the black nematode sea.
Including Feng Luo, there were now only seven people left.
Compared to the 10 minutes at the start, in this short two minutes, five people's entire lives had been taken.
As their supplies were extremely lacking, with the frontline's equipment seriously damaged, and Ion Flame's MP depleted as well, the team had to flee in these two minutes. My World with steel armor, Dai, Azure, as well as Ion Flame had all been killed.
Luckily, the remaining seven people were all fine. The Light Armored Warriors' and Gunners' speed hadn't waned as they ran all-out.
With Mu Zi carrying the Ambergris to keep the Desert Nematodes at bay, the group had charged out of the region in just about 10 seconds.
As they charged past the Desert Nematode horde, the Freedom Flag people had already reached its other end—the region formed by the smoke bomb that Feng Luo had thrown in.
"Charge straight on!"
"That Sniper has definitely no more bullets!"
"F*ck! We were tricked by him!"
Voices of frustration and rage echoed from the Freedom Flag people.
Previously, Feng Luo used the psychology of helping and made use of the last Psionic Energy bullet to contain them for a period of time. Doing this, they thought that Feng Luo was deliberately pretending to do that.
They finally realized that Feng Luo really could no longer fire that kind of black bullet.
As such, the Warrior players running at the front charged forward without hesitation once they had entered the smoky region.
Some of the Scouts lagging them were unable to notice the danger ahead of them, as Mu Zi and Dan Hen had engaged the disruption function on the Recon Meter.
Furthermore, even if they had detected it, they wouldn't be able to point it out in time—the speed of the Charge of Warrior players was extremely fast at this point.
Then the outcome was understood.
"F*ck! What's this?"
"F*ck me! Why are there so many monsters?"
"D*mn it! They're Level 55 cluster monsters!"
In the smoky region, where one couldn't tell any direction, a part of the gang of Warrior players who had just rushed out met with the Desert Nematode horde that was no longer retreating since the scent of the Ambergris had dispersed.
The few Warrior players were being taken in an instant by these metal strip-like Desert Nematodes, which had great coiling power. They coiled around their necks, calves, and waists; and some Desert Nematodes even went straight into their mouths and ears.
With this, it was naturally a disaster.
The Level 55 monsters, though they were cluster monsters, were definitely not weak in their abilities.
As the people at the front were mostly coiled at the limbs, they couldn't move at all. Following that, they were instantly engulfed by the black Desert Nematodes and dragged deep into the sea like a gigantic black cocoon, screaming in agony.
The people behind halted in their steps with horror on their faces.
Tornado…
Arctic Rain…
Eventually, the Manipulators, who were lagging as their physical strength had faltered, finally caught up and threw skills to disperse the smoke ahead.
Looking at the scene before them and the dumpling-like Warrior players struggling within the sea of Desert Nematodes, the faces of the people left behind turned pale one after the other.
They gritted their teeth as they realized that they had once again fallen into the trap of that Sniper at the front.
…
The numbers of this sea of Desert Nematode were horrifying. However, as a kind of cluster monster, their weaknesses were obvious too.
First, these creatures were afraid of fire. This led a few members of the Freedom Flag Manipulator team to throw firewalls over once they had arrived, making the black Desert Nematodes that swarmed over like tidal waves scurry away, instantly deserting the battlefield.
Second, these Desert Nematodes were all entangled together. Hence, just one range skill attack would be able to engulf a few hundreds of them, allowing the Manipulators' output effectiveness to be definitely 100 times better than that of the Gunners and Warriors in this situation.
The number of people of the Freedom Flag was close to 300, although over 20 people had been slain by Feng Luo. During the battle, the Manipulators who had been at the back were almost unharmed.
Overall, it was a victory for them even though they had lost a bunch of people to this Desert Nematode trap.
The remaining Freedom Flag people quickly regrouped to attack the continuously charging Desert Nematodes. They had managed to quickly stabilize the situation and even gradually secured the upper hand.
"The command on the other side is not bad!"
On this side of the Desert Nematode sea, Dan Hen, who wasn't in a hurry to leave, made use of a foldable viewing mirror to look behind and said, "Not bad, yes. But they'd need at least five minutes to clear those Desert Nematodes, and they don't have five minutes!"
A smile suddenly formed on Feng Luo's lips.
"We're here!" Mu Wu announced in a morbid voice from Feng Luo's communicator. During this time, two-thirds of those Desert Nematodes had been cleared.
Above the Underground City, the sky had already turned brighter.
Beyond the military base at the surface behind the gigantic sand dune where there were many abandoned SUVs, a large-scaled vehicle line formed by up to 100 mighty SUVs sent sand particles flying as they drove on, with a few Federal NPC military armored combat vehicles in the middle.

Chapter 718: Hidden Region Discovered
"Da, Da, Da!"
In the underground city, a Scout player ran vigorously, sweat beading on his forehead. From time to time he turned to counterattack the people chasing him.
"Click!"
However, after several counterattacks, the 30 rounds of assault rifle bullets in his hand had run out.
"F*ck!"
The scout player cursed and ran back while reaching into the pocket of his tactical vest, preparing to change the magazine.
"Ping!"
Just when he was about to reload the magazine, a sniper bullet penetrated his temple.
"-11202!"
Along with the five-digit damage coefficient, the Freedom Flag camp Scout player was reduced to a lump of the white light of death.
The magazine in his hand fell to the ground together with the Level-50 Excellent assault rifle. The prizes left behind in the wake of his departure radiated a faint white light.
"A Sniper?"
Seeing the situation, the few Nightless Club players chasing from behind froze altogether at first. Then, hearing something on the communication channel, a Light Armored Warrior player ran over, grinning from ear to ear, as he picked up the items produced by the Scout player.
"Thanks, Brother Feng!"
"Brother Feng, hello!"
The remaining people gave greetings and thanks to the source of the bullet.
On a higher platform, over 50 meters beside them, Feng Luo held the Wings of Death he had just fired, inhaling the comforting scent of gunpowder smoke.
"Brother Feng, there's another one over there."
Lying next to him, holding a Recon Meter, Mu Zi reached out and pointed at a hidden location.
"F*ck…"
Seeing Mu Zi look his way, the Freedom Flag Light Armored Warrior player who was secretly hiding cursed, then hastily engaged his "Charge" skill, running at full speed in the opposite direction from Feng Luo.
But despite the Warrior's rapid Charge, it was impossible for him to outrun a sniper bullet that flew at over 1000 meters per second.
"Ping!"
"-10345!"
Upon hitting the back of the Light Armored Warrior, the 14.5MM caliber B-grade sniper bullet penetrated the warrior's Alloy Armor, shooting right through his body.
The same five-digit damage effortlessly killed the Freedom Flag camp Light Armored Warrior in one shot.
The only ones that could have survived a sniper bullet were a Heavy Armored Warrior, someone with Legendary equipment or a high enough Level, a player who possessed the complete equipped Earth Manipulator Energy Forcefield or had the Talent enhancement.
Otherwise, when faced with the Death of Wing used with B-grade bullets, it was almost impossible for players of other professions to survive when hit at critical points.
It must be known that B-Grade sniper bullets had very high damage and destructive powers. In many cases, the combination of the two could even increase damage by about 50%!
Although B-grade bullets were a powerful threat, they were also expensive.
As there was no Master-grade Ammunition Manufacturer yet, B-grade bullets were still considered Rare goods. They were all either recovered from the ruins or the hands of NPCs. The price of the cheapest B-grade bullet was above 1000 credits!
For Feng Luo who killed Normal players with B-grade bullets, the items dropped by his victims would probably not even fetch enough to cover the bullets' cost.
However, Feng Luo was not really concerned.
Firstly, with his current net worth, the price of B-grade bullets was still affordable.
Secondly, the Wings of Death had three magazines, and he would not have to use B-grade bullets for all targets. Gunners and Manipulators with no forcefields could be killed with single shots of Normal armor-piercing bullets.
Once Feng Luo had killed the Light Armored Warrior, Mu Zi used the Detection with the Recon Meter.
"No one is detected, there should be no more people hidden in this area!" said Mu Zi, smiling.
It was already 7 am in the morning, and two hours had passed since the previous enemy-baiting battle in the "Desert Nematode sea."
The situation was now completely reversed.
Most of the Freedom Flag camp players had already been outnumbered and eliminated by the Nightless City players with the assistance of NPCs. The small number of remaining people had fled everywhere, dispersed throughout the underground city.
To ensure the city-building clearing mission went smoothly, Nightless City would naturally not allow these dangerous pockets of people to exist.
To this end, the Nightless City people were already split into batches to facilitate the city's attempt to clear out the escapees.
Feng Luo and Mu Zi who had obtained sufficient supplies relied only on the power of the Legendary Recon Meter. Although there were only two of them, they were far more efficient than the other teams.
"Mm, change to the next location…to the terminal over there!" Feng Luo said.
…
"Ping!"
Half an hour later, in the outer circle of the terminal area, at the bottom of a passageway, a low gunshot rang out.
A Freedom-Flag Scout player who had been lying nearby, concealed by his anti-detection Talent, was hit in the chest by a double armor-piercing bullet and reduced into the white light of death, producing a whole floor of crystals.
"Whoo…this guy's really capable of escaping!"
Mu Zi panted slightly as he walked with Feng Luo to the position where the Scout player's departure had produced several items.
They had been chasing this person for an entire two minutes and even let him escape to this spot less than 100 meters from the terminal before killing him. This person's ability to escape was pretty strong.
"Hmm, not much of a haul. Just two white crystals, seven grey crystals… luckily I didn't use a B-grade bullet, or it'd be a serious loss!" Feng Luo said, shaking his head.
"Hm?"
In a way, no matter how small a mosquito was, it was still meat. Just when Feng Luo bent over and reached out to pick up the crystals produced by the Scout player, he suddenly froze and looked at the grey metal wall behind the corpse of the Scout player.
After the double armor-piercing bullet he had just shot penetrated the player's body, it had hit the grey metal wall with its remaining strength. When he lowered his head, Feng Luo felt a gust of cold wind blowing from the spot on the metal wall where the bullet had hit.
"Why is there wind? On the structure map, the back of this wall should be completely rock. It's not empty, naturally, it's impossible to have air flow…wait, unless…"
Feng Luo's heart lurched.
To make it more convenient for him to chase people, he had already memorized the structure of the entire underground city in his mind long before. His knowledge of the map-enabled him to quickly deduce a possible answer.
Feng Luo turned to Mu Zi and said, "Mu Zi, use the Detection and check what is behind this wall."
Mu Zi nodded a little doubtfully, but he did not hesitate.
He immediately adjusted the Recon Meter, pointing it to the wall, and strengthened its Detection effect.
"Well?"
Quickly, Mu Zi let out a "hm."
"Brother Feng, the Recon Meter shows that there is a space behind this wall, and the space isn't small. Strange. Based on the structure map, isn't it supposed to be rock behind this?"
Mu Zi's tone was a little uncertain.
"Structure maps of ordinary ruin terminals will not mark all the places…especially some confidential areas."
Feng Luo had an expression that made it obvious he thought they had stumbled on to a secret area.
Mu Zi froze for a moment. Then, realizing, he said, "Ah? Brother Feng, you mean…"
"Could you detect the thickness of this wall?" Feng Luo asked, knocking the wall.
"Sure!"
"But the result detected is a little strange, the thickness of this wall isn't exactly the same everywhere. Some parts are very thick, while some parts are thinner… The spot where your bullet penetrated is a very thin part…"
Mu Zi projected the screen of the Legendary wristband directly onto the metal
wall in proportion, indicating the internal structure of the metal wall.
"Click!"
However, at that moment, something unexpected happened.
When the projection screen from the Legendary wristband obtained from the
Lu Conglomerate "experimental laboratory" was projected onto the metal wall, the latter suddenly made a soft "click" sound, slowly sliding open from its center. A burst of cold air hit their faces.
"Ah, be careful, Brother Feng!"
Mu Zi who was standing towards the back cried out in fear when the Legendary wristband's projection revealed what was behind the wall.
There, lying in wait, was a vicious, black open mouthpiece with long sharp jaws – so large it was as tall as a human!
