*POV BELLA*

It's been over a month since my birthday and things have been completely amazing. Alice and I are closer than ever. Though things are still in the friend zone, we've gotten more comfortable around one another. My wolf is happier. I still pick up Jess in the morning, at times she rides home with me and sometimes she goes to Angela's. Which is fine because it gives me more time with Alice, my evenings are spent down at the Res or at one of our houses. Eddie and Jake's relationship has kicked off and they're attached at the hip. Only parting when we have to go to school. We came across one other vampire scent but whoever it belonged to was long gone and hasn't came back. Carlisle thinks it was another vampire that was with James. That they probably saw what happen to him and didn't want the same outcome so they left. Everything is good as long as they don't come back. We've still be trying to figure out how James knew about Alice. Being that Alice doesn't remember her human life or how she was turned, we figured he might have known her from then. But there's been nothing about James in the little information Alice was able to find about her human life. Alice doesn't have a hint of James' scent that would've been there if he had been her creator. Edward, Rosalie, Esme and Emmett all have a small hint of Carlisle. Alice and Jasper were not created by him, they both smelled completely different. I've considered walking back some patrols but not wanting anyone to get hurt again. We've kept at least one wolf on always. Sometimes when I go to patrol, Alice joins me. At times even Rosalie or Emmett. Eddie patrols with Jake. Sometimes Esme and Carlisle join one of the other wolves. Everyone has been on alert since Alice and Leah were attacked. Though Alice "doesn't speak wolf" she tends to understand me very well in my wolf form. The elders and I figure it's because she's my imprint. We weren't able to test the theory fully because Eddie can read Jake's mind, in human or wolf form. The others at the Res have fully embraced Alice and Eddie. Emily thankful for having a helping hand in the kitchen. Feeding the wolves is a lot to keep up with.

The dance is two weeks away and I will still be taking Jess. Though it won't be a date, I still wanted to keep my word and take her. We even made it a group thing. I suggested the group thing after seeing Jess and Mike getting closer. Giving them a chance to get even closer without the pressure of a date. Only fair to play a little match making.

Mike: so, Bella, are you riding with us or the Cullens? Angela's dad is getting us a limo!

Bella: considering I'm taking Jess, I'll be driving in my car.

Mike: oh of course how can I question it. Your beautiful baby.

Jess: Mike's just jealous Bella. I'll love to ride, night wolf to the dance.

Mike: that kind of sounded dirty.

Jess: I mean…

Bella: if the shoe fits.

Mike makes a face but doesn't say anything else. I notice the jealousy in Mike's eyes whenever he sees us together. Though we're not on each other like before. I do still walk her to class at times and even hold her hand when I notice that he's looking. I've thrown in a kiss or two on the cheek. She seems a lot happier now that her parents have fully separated. As a thank you for everything, I took her dress shopping. Buying her a beautiful light blue dress that she looked gorgeous in when trying it on. Jess fought me on it at first but gave in when I told her it was a thank you for helping me with Alice. Since it's a group thing, we don't have to match anymore, I decided to wear white and grey. Well, more like Rosalie decided for me. I went shopping with her and Eddie while Alice took Jake and Emmett. I pouted at not being able to spend more time with Alice but according to them, I got the better deal.

*POV ALICE*

I still get a feeling in the pit of my stomach whenever I see Bella and Jess together. Though I know they're just friends. Something just doesn't sit right with me when I see them walking in the halls. Seeing them holding hands or seeing Bella give her a peck. Every time I do, one of my siblings gives me a knowing look. I wave them off. It's not jealousy. We didn't see Lauren again for the rest of her visit. And it almost feels like Bella's healed more since then. Which is why I feel an uneasiness when it comes to Jess and Bella. I don't want them to get their feelings confused and it results with Bella getting hurt. Bella has told me it's nothing like that between them, that she's just helping Jess out with Mike.

Jasper still hasn't come back. I text him a few times, letting him know how things are here. Of course, I don't mention Bella or Edward's mating. He never answers regardless. As worried or concerned I get, I don't look for him. I continue to respect his wishes.

Luckily getting ready for the dance has become a great distraction. I wanted their outfits to be a surprise to each other, so I suggested we divide up. They only agreed if I promised not to look into what they picked. Rose, Edward and Bella left this morning to go get their outfits. Me and Emmett were waiting on Jake to leave. I got instructions from Rose to get Emmett something red, while Edward stated him and Jake agreed to green. Bella said Jess had changed her mind and wanted to wear blue, so I'm sure Bella will be getting something to match. Though they're not going as a romantic date, Bella is still keeping her word and taking her. They made it into a group thing though.

We quickly head out once Jake arrives. Shopping with the guys was easy. They didn't fight me on anything and gladly tried on a few suits before finding the ones they wanted. I had a slight issue looking for mine. Wanting a light grey color dress. Some of the shades were either too dark or too light. Finally, after the 7th store, I find the perfect dress. Emmett and Jake share a look but neither say anything when I ask them what. We pick up some food for Jake before driving him back to the Res. When we drop him off, Emily and Leah are there. We show them off his suit and my dress before going back home. I tell Emmett I need to stop by the store to get some steaks for Charlie and Bella's dinner.

Emmett: hey, uh, Rose just text… Jasper's back.

Alice: he's back?

Emmett: yeah, he's at the house. Waiting for you.

I push the gas, a part of me wanting to see him because I miss him but a part of me nervous at the aftermath with the family and him. We pull into the driveway, and I notice Carlisle is home. And they're all inside. That's a good sign. I can feel Jasper even from this far. I jump out the car and rush in the house. Even with Emmett getting the bags, he's still right behind me. I quickly spot Esme and Carlisle sitting on the couch, Rose and Edward standing behind them. And Jasper standing by the patio door.

I instantly run to him. He opens his hands and catches me before spinning us around and setting me down. I feel him tense and I know it's because he smells Jake on me.

Jasper: another wolf? Really Alice?

I flinch back at his tone. Realizing there's a hint of red in his eyes.

Alice: please don't start Jasper. Don't ruin the moment. Have you been drinking from humans?

Jasper: it's not me who's ruining it, Alice. I come back and you smell like another wolf. I didn't come back for this.

I step back again from him. Not wanting another situation like before.

Alice: then why did you come back Jasper? And don't avoid my question, have you been drinking from humans?

Jasper: I came back for you! I came back for us; we're suppose to be together Alice. But it's not too late, we still can.

Alice: you came back for me?

I feel hurt and love in a tidal wave flow in. I lock eyes with him and I feel so much love, care, and devotion.

Jasper: come leave with me Alice. I love you and I know you love me. We can be so happy together. We just need to get away from here. Just come with me Alice.

He doesn't take his eyes off of me. And I see how much he loves me. I'm hit with another wave of love, and I just want to be in his arms and tell him I'm sorry for everything. He's right I do love him. I've always loved him but maybe it took this time away for me to see it. I've missed him more than words can say. He reaches out his hand for me and before I could grab it, Edward flies straight into Jasper. Knocking him through the patio window and starts punching Jasper in his face.

Edward: you son of a bitch! How could you?!

Esme: EDWARD!

It takes me a second to register what is happening. I rush outside with the rest of the family. Edward and Jasper were in a heated fight. Jasper is the strongest fighter we know. Due to his time in the south helping Maria with her army. But Edward always having the upper hand because of his gift. I see the spiderweb cracks forming on Jasper's face. He's having a difficult time trying to hold Edward back, Jasper's only managed to put a couple of scratches on his face and rip his shirt. None of us understand what is happening. It had to be something he heard in Jasper's head. But what would cause him to react like this?

Esme: Emmett! Carlisle!

Emmett and Carlisle rush to grab Edward. But he tries his hardest to fight them off. I'm still frozen looking at the whole thing. Jasper is still on the ground probably giving his body some time to heal.

Edward: you fucking bastard! How could you do that to her?! How did I not see this!?

Carlisle: son, please relax and tell us what happen.

Edward: he's been using his powers to keep Alice close to him! He been doing this for years! And now he's feeding from humans to make his powers stronger. He was just using them full blast on Alice to make her go with him! Let me go Emmett!

I look from Edward to Jasper and back to Edward, understanding but not understanding what's happening. I look over at the rest of the family. Rose and Emmett both glaring at Jasper. Esme and Carlisle throwing me concerned looks.

Alice: Jasper… Jasper you wouldn't. Tell me you didn't please.

Jasper slowly gets up. Dusting the dirt off his clothes.

Jasper: who are you going to believe Alice? Him or me? Me who has been with you longer than this "family". Me who has defended you and protected you against everyone. You really think they wouldn't do anything to keep you here. Look at him, your "brother" lying to you to turn you against me.

I feel a wave of love. A wave so strong it feels like I'm choking on it. Before I can say anything, Edward jumps on him again. Yelling at him to stop it with every new punch. This time Jasper being prepare, is able to hold him back. Emmett jumps in and throws his own. Edward manages to tear his arm off and the sound it makes knocks me back into the situation. Every feeling I just felt is gone.

Alice: STOP! EDWARD, EMMETT, PLEASE STOP!

Everyone turns to look at me. Even the very injured Jasper. Emmett's holding him down and Edward still holding Jasper's arm.

Alice: Jasper, please just tell me the truth. Did you? Have you? Do not bullshit me. Just tell me the truth.

Jasper doesn't say anything. I see the anger in his eyes. And I feel the anger coming off of him. Rose is instantly next to me. Pulling me into her. Esme joins us on the other side.

Alice: Edward… Emmett… let him go… I'm only telling them to let you go because I don't want them to live with killing you. Go Jasper. And never come back here. Whatever we were, real or fake… you destroyed it today.

Emmett lets him get up and Edward throws his arm at him. They step back but don't move to far from him.

Jasper: Alice, please don't believe him.

Carlisle: I think it's best you leave Jasper. As Alice said, don't come back here. You just destroyed a part of our family. I don't know how Alice feels and I can't speak on how the others feel. I can only speak for myself. I'm disappointed in you. Disappointed in your actions. The man standing before me is not the son I thought I knew.

Jasper: our family?! Son!? Are you kidding me! This family was never my family. None of you cared for me. Alice is my mate and you've all just kept her from me.

Esme: if you really were her mate, you wouldn't have hurt her the way you did. You wouldn't have had to make her love you. You wouldn't have lied to her! She's not your mate and we might not be YOUR family, but we are her's. As you see, we all would protect her. As MY DAUGHTER and my husband said, it's best you leave.

Jasper doesn't say anything, he looks over all of us before turning to leave. None of us say anything. I feel a tidal wave of hurt hitting me full blast and once again, I collapse into Esme's arms.
